Well how much was I happy to see Vanilla perfume back on the shelves in The Body Shop?! THIS MUCH!!!! :-D I did a little giddy dance when I bought a new bottle! I just really wish The Body Shop would make their mind up on whether to keep a product going or not. I've never known something to and fro on the shelves as much. I think it's pretty safe to say that vanilla is a VERY popular scent universally. It's adored by both men and women. So you would think it be best pleasing your customers by keeping it on the shelves FOREVER! Take note naughty Body Shop (even though you won't see this lol) - DO NOT remove from the shelves ever again!! Also like to add that their Chocomania fragrance is delightful too (it hasn't been added yet to the fragrantica catalogue). The Chocomania fragrance blended with vanilla makes for a very delicious treat on your skin and for your senses!

I love this. Very nice surprise. Warm, sweet, a bit powdery. I detect musk and I think it makes an amazing and effective light deodorant. I have a thing for yummy smelling armpits and there is somehow a muskiness to this that is reminding me of CB I Hate Perfume- CBMUSK, but more simple and sheer, I do think this vanilla dries down quickly to a soft delicious skin scent. I has a warm sheer feel to it more than sweet, it's not at all cloying. Will be great for layering. I notice I wear it very frequently, so I plan on having it permanently. Edit: I finally got some CBMUSK after having tried it long ago and that stuff is AMAZING. But I also like the vanilla spray mixed with regular sweaty body odors, it's nice and I will always have it around. It is calming and gentle and vaguely smooth/sweet.

Some days, I wake up and I just don't want to think. Put on comfy clothes that can tackle the day, some minimal skincare, and I'm out the door. On these days, this is what I reach for. It's a safe decision. Warm, foodie, vanilla. In the bottle (and immediately after spraying), this smells incredibly alcoholic. Sickeningly strong, almost like straight isopropyl alcohol. But the drydown is fast and delicious. Longevity is solid but sillage isn't great. Ultimately, that's not what's important. This is easy, comfy, and you don't have to think twice about it.

I forgot that I had this in my collection. I bought it a few years ago while looking for vanilla scents. I heard they don't test on animals which is a big plus for the company if still true. The bottle is simple and cute. The smell is nice, not very noticeable. A little sweet, warm, slight spice in there. It reminds me a bit of Coty Vanilla Musk, but more complex and sweeter than that one. Glad to have it but I rarely use it. Perhaps I will try it more this fall, it seems like a nice fall and winter scent.

I'm using the mist version since a while, I think the smell is close to a true vanilla and that's what makes me love this fragrance. Maybe it's because that I'm using body spray version but only bad thing about it is that the longevity is weak. It vanishes within 1 to 2 hours but it leaves a little trace of it behind. It is for winter/fall and daytime. The price point is great. Would recommend as a mist but if you want a stronger vanilla, try the edt version or a different perfume.

This is a sweet and basic, non-gourmand vanilla fragrance with a hint of spiciness and powdery tone to it. It has a warm and wearable scent that is impossible to hate. It's a little bit plain on its own, which is why I usually use this perfume for layering. I also found the dry-down to be absolutely beautiful. The fragrance stays very close to the skin and the longevity is around 4 hours on me. But overall, I will say that this perfume is quite satisfactory for its price.

I'm reviewing the mist version . One of the best affordable vanilla scent. It smells like pure vanilla. A little kitchen vanilla like but beautiful nonetheless. I've used atleast 3 bottles of this. If u're looking for a good vanilla on a budget highly recommend this. Longevity moderate on me 3 hrs max . The best thing about it doesn't smell cheap or synthetic , smells high quality Vanilla (for a body mist)

The best Body Shop fragrance out there!! Smells like a good vanilla ice cream..so yummy!! It’s not over sweet, I get some freshness too. I am a man and find this unisex no problem. Good longevity and great value. I’d buy 100 ml if I could. I sometimes wear it to bed and I can still smell it the next day. Cozy, comforting deliciousness. Just what we need in these times.

Just bought it on our local The Body Shop. The first smell is like Jasmine (I personally don't like the first sniff) but it dries down to a beautiful and very simple vanilla, like a vanilla extract used for baking. The smell of Vanilla is not that sweet, it's more of musky-vanilla. I love the simplicity of it. You can use it everyday or use it for layering. Love it

The Body Shop was dead to me the moment they discontinued this perfume. WHY? WHY? WHY? It was the best vanilla layering perfume. Simple, non-complicated, pure vanilla you can match with anything. Suitable for all season and time, with a good longevity and projection too. It's genuinely mind-boggling to kill an industry staple for no reason.

The vanilla products from the body shop are always lovely, as is this one. It's all vanilla but could be stronger and last longer. Nothing in Vanilla I'v found so far beats the vanilla oil tph Body Shop discontinued, it use to always be commented on, I smelt like a milkshake, that's the vanilla I've been chasing since then.

I had to rewrite my review after realizing that this scent in the body spray formula smells exactly like Lip Smackers or Bon Belle Vanilla ChapStick. Like lip balm for little kids. Great longevity for a body spray and different from all my other vanillas. A little bit waxy, frothy, powdery and light.

I love this scent! It's very nice and warm and has a surprising amount of depth to it. It's also great for layering, but it also works on it's own since it's not at all a boring scent! The body mist is also awesome, and is pretty powerful for a body mist, if you want to save some money.

A simple one note fragrance that dries down musky. I put this on at home and work, does not overpower or bother me and others. I spray it on my clean clothes and they will smell like vanilla until the next wash. Just an old classic from the Body Shop that I will always repurchase.

not sure if mine has the same formula as others because mine isn’t powdery or white floral at all and I love it! it’s sugary warm uplifting vanilla, closest thing to vanilla pudding ᰔ🍮✧ i’m obsessed and want to spray this all the time. very good for layering as well! yum!

I agree with tiababy; this is a lovely vanilla. Vanilla and Coconut are my favourites in the perfume range by The Body Shop. They have a simple yet rich, thick and luscious feel that is very cozy and comforting, and they are great for layering.

I have worn this the Vanilla body mist most of my life from a young teen. I guess for me it lasts from morning to afternoon and so is a scent I am known for. I love it. I wouldn't be me without this scent. I love it.

This is DELICIOUS. My therapist made me smell it and i literally died. For reference i am a gourmand vanilla lover. Its really simpe as a fragrence but honestly i love it. Waiting to buy a bottle for myself.

A natural, not very sweet vanilla, like vanilla extract for cooking. I prefer more natural smelling vanilla so this is my cup of tea. A good non offensive daily scent. One of my favourite vanillas.

And one thing I love from this perfume is its longevity.. I usually spray it behind my ears or on my neck and it lasts for 8 hrs. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning it's still there.

I love this perfume SO MUCH because my boyfriend bought it for me which it means he loves this scent. It was surprising because my boyfriend never give a damn about fragrance etc*

I love the smell of vanilla. Even the body mist stays longer than I thought it would be, it stays up to 8 hours on me. Perfect for daily use, it feels warm and cozy when I use it.

really upset they discontinued this :( was my favorite vanilla scent for the longest time and i still think its one of the best pure vanilla scents ever created.

Vanilla, plain and simple. Sweet and warm, perfect base scent to layer with. Super affordable and a staple in my collection.

This one is amazing and very long lasting. It use it for long college days and it's absolutely perfect for work/school.

i have used both the mist and the edt, and i find they're both about the same, with the edt only having slightly more longevity, maybe by half an hour or so. it's a very simple, baking vanilla scent on the sweet side, including very slightly alcoholic notes just like your average vanilla extract. i layer it over black musk as my signature scent for winter, since the top notes of black musk can be a bit sharp for me, so by the 2 hour mark when the vanilla wears off, the black musk is in its middle-base note stage. the combination has become so natural to me that i don't even really smell it on myself anymore, but other people certainly seem to be able to, as i have received several compliments including my manager who remarked that it was a great choice for work; just enough to express that i care about being clean and presentable, but light enough to not cause any issues since we work in a fairly small space. will definitely keep wearing this for the forseeable future. body mist lasts about an hour and a half, edt more like 2 hours, maybe 2.5. sillage is moderate- enough for other people to have noted that i smell pleasant if we brush shoulders, but no further.

Truly much vanilla fragrance! This fragrance really smells truly vanilla, not a sugar powder. It's sweet, warm, but not too heavy vanilla fragrance. It's so delightful that even brings holiday mood to me!:) I only wish it was more long-lasing and had a more huge sillage. I can't say that it fades away quickly. But I prefer to spray it on my hair, because it's more long-lasting there than on my skin. Maybe the reason is that other people feel it on me more than I feel it on myself. I want to enjoy it, too:))) The reason is that it seems to me close to skin. With time perfumes usually become more rich and long-lasting, but I'm not sure that it will not end sooner, because it's so yummy charming:) But for its price it's just awesome. It even smells truly vanilla more than any luxe fragrances I've tried. Usually they smell gourmand vanilla like sugar powder( Very good fragrance for its price! The quality is higher than the price. If it was more rich and more truly vanilla, I would gladly pay much more. But anyway I'm happy because it reminds me of my favorite vanilla pudding everytime:))) Honey sweetness truly vanilla! Delicious!!!

To everyone who's been wondering (like I was before I went out to The Body Shop and sampled some on myself): this smells about 90% similar to the recently discontinued white lid Vanilla Perfume Oil. It's got the same floral notes surrounding a vanilla base.I only went to TBS yesterday, because I thought that this one may smell more like a foody vanilla (as some reviewers have felt), so I went to TBS with the intention of buying it. I already have a mostly full Vanilla Perfume Oil (which also lasts much longer since it's basically a pure parfum), so I'm definitely not buying this EDT version. On me, it lasted about 4 to 5 hours- not too impressive, but unsurprising for an EDT. Sillage was low to moderate. Drydown smelled more foody than the top notes, but still closely resembled the discontinued Vanilla Perfume Oil. For vanilla fans who don't have the perfume oil, go ahead and buy this because it is a pleasant vanilla perfume despite the few shortcomings I have mentioned.

Yes it's vanilla, of course, but there's some indistinct white floral underneath this. Funny that people are saying this is highly synthetic smelling, because I find it much less synthetic than V.S Bare Vanilla, B&BW Warm Vanilla Sugar, or Signature Vanilla from Body Fantasies. It's not like Pacifica's Island Vanilla exactly either (maybe closer, like a cousin fragrance), nor is it Nemat's Vanilla Musk. And Definitely not B&BW's Vanilla Bean Noel (I smell cocoa in that one). AND, really, really not at all like Eilish, as that one is spiced. Maybe all of these are redundant to some folks, but cheap vanillas are a joy of mine and they're all slightly different. This is not the worst in terms of performance, but it's not the greatest either. It is a little fresher overall than some others that sit more heavily. I don't find it overly floral though, just a touch. Not lactonic or creamy, nor overly cakey...just middle-of-the-road + light florals.

As someone already mentioned, it's a fresh, cool type of vanilla. I personally prefer the freshness of this one compared to the older version. This one reminds me of pure vanilla extract. I would say it's the only vanilla scented fragrance I can wear during the warmer months. (I love vanilla, but other vanilla fragrances tend to be too cloying on me during the summer.) It especially smells lovely when I spritz it right after the shower. It has a pleasant type of sweetness that isn't overpowering at all. It doesn't have outstanding sillage or lasting power (5 hours tops), but it's still detectable. My boyfriend can smell this on me; in fact, he adores this fragrance and compliments how good I smell every time I wear this. If you're looking for a gourmand, cozy type of vanilla for winter, you might not enjoy this. But if you want to smell fresh and vanillary at the same time, you might want to give this a try.

*This review is for the body mist (for which there is no listing on this site) If you apply this the usual way (spray a couple puffs into the air and then step into it) the scent is basically a lighter, airier version of vanilla essence used for baking -- sweet, subtle, powdery, fades very quickly (30-60 minutes). If you apply this like perfume (spray on your wrists and dab behind the ears) the scent trail is the same as above. The scent on your wrists is basically a more intense version of vanilla essence used for baking -- extremely sweet, cloying, artificial, HOWEVER it dries down amazingly to what is still a distinct vanilla, but much warmer and spicier, and less artificial and overly sweet. Closer to vanilla with brown sugar and cinnamon than pure vanilla essence. My friends used to huff my wrists in our pm classes in highschool because they smelled so good with the 6h drydown over the morning

A chilled and delicious vanilla cream with just a small flash of a white floral note that is vague and hard to make out. This is not a long lasting perfume and more of a body spray or hair perfume. It is vanilla vanilla vanilla all the way. Smells beige and good on the skin as opposed to on clothing. Fresh opening a bit cold and then turns very powdery by the driest stage at the end. Not too sweet. There could be some light white musk thrown in. I doubt it's just all vanilla. But it is unmistakably a vanilla fragrance with nothing especially memorable. Smells good and clean and can warm up the skin or hair on cold fall or winter days. I spray on myself liberally all over. Available at drugstores like CVS and Walgreens. Affordable and very lovely perfume. Unisex. Vanilla has no gender!!! If you like vanilla scents try this one as an intro to vanilla fragrances.

My The Body Shop Vanilla EdT has a different packaging, I don't know if they have reformulated or just repackaged. The packaging I have is not listed on the website. Anyways, I have repurchased. I used to have the one with the same packaging than on this page and I didn't notice a difference. This is a nice everyday vanilla. The opening is quite heavy on alcohol, but it disappears soon and I can smell a soft vanilla, nothing extra. It's not overly sweet and strong so it's a wearable scent to work. It's pretty intimate and I get a few hours wear before the scent disappears. The fact that I actually repurchased tells that I really enjoy it. That being said, now that I'm getting more into fragrances I don't think this is anything special. But it is a nice and simple everyday vanilla for year around.

As an out-and-out vanilla scent, this hints at sweetness but, most certainly, is not a gourmand-sugary scent. In fact, for most of its time on skin, it's a play-doh sort of vanilla. Projection is fairly good for the duration of the fragrance; the longevity is well above average (around 8 hrs before becoming a skin scent - talking of the EdT and not the body mist here). In all honesty, I got this primarily for layering purposes despite some people suggesting against it. I have to say that there's a fair degree of truth to their opinions but, that said, it could play that role over specific compositions, e.g. it works over lavender-based/green fragrances but not citrus based ones. Overall, though, I find it completely satisfactory for the price.

I love this. I love vanilla as a flavour/scent/taste, and this will always be in my collection no matter how often or quickly I run out of it. It's a lovely, warm, sweet, friendly, almost fruity smell. It has decent lasting power, but after a while it's almost impossible to detect unless you literally put your nose against me and sniff. I'd say it's worth the price though, despite the sillage issue. It's cheap enough to keep reapplying and buying without feeling like you're throwing away money. Of all the one-note vanilla's I've smelled, the only one that comes close to this would be Lush's Vanillary. If you want something a little less sweet but much better lasting power and sillage, go for that.

I bought two bottles of this a couple of years ago when I had popped into The Body Shop and it was on sale. This is different from the OG oil from the mid 90’s that I have, which is more concentrated and punchier. When I first got it, it was just okay to my nose. I think I was looking for something more gourmand. But I wore this the other day and I really, really liked it. It’s definitely not an edible vanilla, it’s more floral and maybe even slightly herbal...like chamomile tea. I immediately thought of YSL Manifesto L’eclat, which is such a beautiful, subtle vanilla. This one calls it to mind. This is great for bedtime, or environments where perfume might be frowned upon.

I wanted a really simple vanilla fragrance, and this does the job very well. It is a sweet smell, but in a comforting, slightly floral way- I feel that it smells more natural than some of the "candy" type perfumes that are available at this price level. The EDT version is much lighter and less cloying than the EDP oil version. I would say that it lasts fairly well- I can still catch it after 5 hours- but it is not a statement perfume and does not project at all. I usually wear it alone but you could definitely layer it with other fragrances to add softness.

I honestly never get tired of this old staple vanilla. It's very nice, it's inoffensive, not overly sweet, and it's really quite darling. I appreciate the linear, uncomplicated quality of The Body Shops fragrances. Sometimes one just isn't in the mood to be taken on a journey by their fragrance. This does not smell synthetic on me; I just get a nice soft vanilla, with a little bit of powdery musk. It's really nice! It smells of purity, like the scent of a clean baby, or kitten. And it layers well. I can't imagine that this ever won't be in my collection.

A nice, cozy, foodie smell. Nothing special. Good for a plaid shirt and a crisp fall day, maybe going to eat Sunday dinner at the in-law's place. This is not true vanilla - the search continues for me. It is, however, an innocuous scent that doesn't smell "perfumey" near food, nor does it make the smell of the food unappetizing (good when you work in the restaurant business and also cook a lot at home). It's nice. Too bad it's not the real, true vanilla extract kind of smell I've been searching for. 3/10

This little gem made me feel so stupid for spending over $100 to blind buy a limited edition vanilla Shalimar flanker that I don't even wear. I like this so much more, and it was on sale for around $6. I have the body spray though, so I can't really comment on sillage/longevity, I really want the perfume spray. It's a simple, straightforward vanilla with a little bit of a playdoh aspect (which I personally love). All vanilla lovers should try this, it hits the spot for me.

Kept this as a purse spray for work / if I didn’t bring any perfume with me or if I forgot to put any on. It did it’s job - linear doughy vanilla with very slight floral notes, no projection or longevity but served it’s purpose of “better than nothing on at all”. Good if you want a basic vanilla scent for cheap. Gifted it to a girlfriend who enjoyed it a lot more then me :) smelled much better and projected more on her too so it might just be my skin chemistry.

Some years ago I had vanilla perfume oil from the body shop (white cap). I didnt like it, it smelled too sweet/fruity for my taste. I never tried the edt of this neither the body mist. I guess it was a mistake, because I tried the body mist recently and it just smells divine. Very sensual, very cosy caramellized vanilla smell with a musky undertone -- not foody but delicious. The EDT does not smell like this though, it smells more synthetic.

This version lacks the depth of even the formula right before it, which in itself was lacking but still pleasant. This, again, also, it's very pleasant. I've enjoyed all of the vanilla scents by The Body Shop and this, while incomparable to the original formula, was/is still very pleasant and enjoyable. This one is possibly a touch closer to the Vanilla Brulee variant, being a touch more candied and on the vanilla ice cream spectrum.

This was my signature scent 6 years ago. I haven't tried how it is now but I will always remember this scent, of fresh, delicate vanilla, very sweet but not overly, very pure, high quality vanilla, everyone loved and complimented me how I smelled. Very long lasting, that lasted me for hours, and even up to days if it was sprayed on clothes and hair. This is a cold scent, so I wore this a lot in a winter and cold autumn days.

This is a great all season vanilla! It is light, not too sweet, perfect even for hot weather. It is fairly single note but I can detect some sort of woody accord which adds some depth. What is really amazing is how long it lasts -- the EDT lasted 6 hours on me, which is unheard of. I can't get fragrances ten times the price to last that long. Very impressive! The inexpensive vanilla that could!

A nice, simple vanilla scent. Interesting enough with its typically "vanillic" nuance ( like cooking vanillin but made nicely). As others have mentioned - this is not deep, or boozy. Just light, pleasant, perhaps a touch floral (if you squint). Not very strong, not very weak. I am not wow-ed, but it's pleasant enough. Can't be mad at it. I do prefer Solinotes Vanille -- that's boozier.

This is a very basic cupcake frosting vanilla but sometimes basic cupcake frosting vanilla is exactly what you need. It's not plasticky or synthetic smelling and it doesn't smell cheap, it's just simple. And I love it. I'm wearing this on one hand and a sample of a $440 le labo vanilla on the other and I'm honestly enjoying this one more. It's amazing for layering too.

This is the perfect solid vanilla perfume. Its cheap but does not smell chemical or bad quality at all, (unlike bare vanilla) its just pure vanilla, not too sweet and really soft & pleasant to smell. It lasts a decent amount of time and has a great sillage (like actually!!) I really recommend especially for perfume beginners because its so simple yet...PERFECT!

the original (darker bottle, tiny cap) was so much nicer. i tried this in the shop, lasted an hour maybe before i couldn't smell it, and didn't have that heavy warming note. it was weak and sweet. smelt like fake vanilla, like food flavouring, rather than vanilla itself. not impressed with this one. keeping a tight hold on my last bottle of the original.
