Vanilla Chai Shimmer Mist

My favourite ever body shop scent range was the vanilla chai Christmas range. I love vanilla chai scents, its a pretty common scent now but like all body shop scents it matches the body butter/shower gels in the same scent family. Not complex, but it isn't meant to be.

felt the whiplash of the century seeing this on someone’s tiktok as a scent they were looking for. signature scent throughout middle and highschool. just looking at the bottle makes me want to double-check if my sheet music is in the right order, and i haven’t been in choir for almost a decade. for the girls who are sad this scent is discontinued (?), it was really was just vanilla and chai. that’s it. that’s literally it.

This a rendition of what standard chai masala is supposed to smell like to the uninitiated. Not the real thing. Not worths the price tag either, but not horrible though. It's fairly pleasant. My friend's baby loved the smell of the matching shimmery body lotion on me, even though it's strong stuff! Now that I'm a bit more educated about fragrance, I understand why I don't love it. The balance is just weird. This is straight crème brûlée vanilla, similar to Victoria Secrets’ Vanilla Lace, with that thin, crunchy caramelized crust undertone. The similarity stops there. Vanilla Chai is boozy and spicy, in a typical Christmas fashion. Btw, because of that, I was expecting it to be a crowd pleaser with a few reviews! There's definitely a licorice taste to it, but not the mealy type from star anise. Actually, that anise taste seems to come from artificial cinnamon - the bitter, medicinal flavoring agent in readymade puddings. Certainly not cinnamon sticks! Woody notes struck me as of late. They seem to add more depth but in an artificial way, because they're just making that unpleasant licorice taste more prominent. Green cardamom appears ever so slightly after a while, once the vanilla becomes even sweeter. Fail: its camphor note is awkwardly mingled with that already ill-balanced juice, souring the mixture. Oki, I might be picky - this would go unnoticed because drown down by the caramely vanilla. Don't expect the shimmery particles to spread evenly. But they're so fine they won't obstruct the nozzle. They impart a very pretty rose gold and silver blue duochrome sparkle to the skin. If there weren't fancy shimmer, that would be a very good room freshener for Christmas holidays season. EDIT: under Avon's Secret Fantasy Wonderland (which I like very much, check my review out), it's a really nice surprise! Medicinal notes begone! Wow!!! Instead, star anise appears and fresh cardamome stands out a little more. Both magnify SFW delicate chestnut (non listed) and make the otherwise absent whipped cream come forward (listed). Over time, the scent becomes suave and soothing - note the alliteration mega lol. Fragrance, definitely is a cosmogony yet to be explored.

Bought it when I was a kid cause of the sparkles and never smelt it til now. It’s really strong, instant headache. I can tell I would have liked its pre-macerated state. Sad it’s been discontinued.
