White Musk Libertine

Obsessed. I have never gone through a perfume like this. I am wearing this shortly after the birth of my youngest (just in my hair or behind my ear, no fragrance on my chest, arms or too close to his little face!) and I feel like it will give me the sweetest memories of his infancy, nursing him in bed surrounded by a smell of almonds and cream and roses! The name is a total misnomer for me. This is a gentle and delicately pretty scent; not unsexy, but not especially sexy either (and nor does it have to be). I don’t have any perfumes similar to this one. It made it click what people mean when they say “your skin but better.” I’m inexperienced with musks and this made me want to try other ones, but quickly I decided I just wanted to wear this all the time. It’s comforting, soft, just a little bit sweet, a little bit floral. I do get all the notes, almond, roses, cream, something powdery sweet and just a little warmth like clean skin— what a combination. It’s like a bedtime drink. I want to drink this perfume 😅 But it totally works for daytime too, because it’s very soft, with no sharpness or spiciness at all, yet not cloying or too warm either. I can sometimes wear it in warm weather, which is not something I can say about many perfumes, but I think it will be extra cozy in the winter. I do wish it were a bit stronger, because I want to catch whiffs of it all the time! I sometimes do 4-5 sprays of this, which is a loooot for me. I agree with the reviewer who said the powdered sugar smell comes though, like you are opening the lid of a box of traditional rose water scented Turkish delight. It’s not honey its powdered sugar. It also reminds me of that powdery bubble gum that comes in a long roll like a tape dispenser (this is not a bubble gum smell though.) Anyway, idk if this is fling or what, but I’m over the moon in love with this scent that is like nothing else in my collection. I’ve gone though half a bottle in record time and I’m glad it’s cheap on eBay, because I had better stock up! Edit: I have tried the edt and the edp; unfortunately the edp is just slightly different from the edt that I adore. I had hoped the edp (which is *not* easy to find) would be a stronger/longer lasting version of the edt, but alas it’s missing something. It’s still very nice. But I just plan to keep the edt and spray a lot!

A friend of mine got herself the EDP, and when she wears it she leaves a very lovely light trail of scent: sweet, creamy, musky honey-rose, abit fresh. It's feminine and sweet but not cloyingly so. Subtly gourmand. Perfect for everyday wear in spring and mild summer days...quite safe and very pretty. I would compliment someone wearing this. Budget friendly too. A nice offering from The Body Shop. I guess it's not as close-to-the-skin as I once thought when I tested it on myself a couple years earlier (my 1st review is somewhere below). edit: wearing it again on my skin, not gourmand at all for the 1st hour, just a faint sweetish musky scent...the drydown is like a completely different scent on my skin and it gets sweeter, much prettier. edit x2: have been wearing it often these days, and realize that when spraying more (rather than just 1 or 2 'test' sprays), I get the sweet soft gourmand notes from the beginning...love it, got a bottle, so easy to wear and cuddly, feminine, great for everyday. edit x3: forgot to mention that I accidentally purchased the EDT instead of EDP, so EDT is the one I have been wearing often...the EDT is abit less musky and more freshly sweet, but only lasts about 3 hours and is very faint after that. edit x4: tried the edp again, and I prefer the fresher/sweeter edt even though the edp lasts a few hours longer. Edp is definitely muskier and less 'delicate', maybe better for cooler days. Edt just smells so good, I don't care that it disappears alot sooner than I'd like. I'll just wait for sales to get a 100ml bottle of it.

This was such a pretty everyday scent. I had both EdT and EdP. I preferred the EdT over the EdP as it was less musky, lighter, and wears better on warm days. The EdP is muskier, cozier, I liked it for bedtime or in cool weather, the drydown of the EdP is close to the OG TBS white musk, but a sweetened version of it. But both EDT and EdP are fluffy, softly sweet, creamy/lotion-y, gourmand-ish, clean white musks, I get all the notes listed and they are just so beautiful and harmonious together. The EdT is a love for me, and the EdP a solid like. Not at all syrupy and very comfortable to wear all year round, I don’t know why on earth they’d discontinue this gem! Today I’m wearing a few spritzes from my half empty bottle of the EdP that I have left. I had emptied 3 full-size bottles of the EdT and 1 bottle of the EdP in the past before it was unfortunately discontinued, I really loved this scent. My favorite from TBS and the only one I repurchased multiple times. I hope they’ll re-release this! I’ll definitely be stocking up on the EdT if they do!

I spray-tested this scent in EDP formulation on my wrist today. I got nothing but a sweet musky-rose scent for the first hour, the musk note even smelled somewhat sharp/synthetic and distracted from the other gourmand notes...*yawn* boring!! But then, the dry-down made my mouth seriously water and I almost couldn't believe it was the same scent...I was pleasantly surprised. The musky-rose softens, and I'm left with a very soft and delicious, ultra-gourmand aroma of silky honey, vanilla cream, rose water, and freshly spun sugar! Yum! It even reminded me of Pink Sugar, just so much smoother, graceful and delicate with the addition of musk...just imagine a Fraiche and florale version of PS, where the raspberry and licorice are replaced by roses and honey, still smelling pink, innocent, and candy-like, that's what White Musk Libertine is (the dry-down atleast). Would I purchase it? Sadly no, and even though it does have good longevity, the scent unfortunately stays very, very close to the skin...and the opening is just too dull and generic.

White Musk Libertine edt is a subtly sexy matte finish of a scent. It smells like beachy sun warmed skin, a pile of fluffy white feathers, and a hint of powdery rosewater Turkish Delight. Definitely not too sweet. It's sweet like skin is naturally sweet. I think the key to its addictive beauty is that it HINTS at gourmand, it hints at floral, but it never develops into a full-on expression of either, and instead retains its light, airy, amorphous cloud-like personality, making one want to always inhale more. It's a skin scent after the first hour but it is absolutely gorgeous in the most delicate way. It's light enough for Summer, but works all year around. The fluffiest elegant fragrance I know. Somewhat against my will I have fallen hopelessly in love with it; basically the opposite experience of those reviews that begin with, "I tried so hard to like this, but-" Thanks to CozyCat for her awesome review!

Okay, WML EdT is now officially my favorite scent from The Body Shop. It has drawn a few unexpected compliments so far and is surprisingly comfortable enough to wear even in the middle of this hellish summer heat. Sweet like honey, smooth as cream, yet tender as a rose petal and light as a feather. Wonderful cheapie, especially for Turkish-Delight fans. Glad you are loving your purchase Raw Umber, and beautiful review! update: I got to try the solid cream perfume version of this scent, and I was shocked that it smelled exactly like powdered milk paste! See, I have been using generic milk powder as a face mask for years (sometimes I actually do add in some honey, and/or rose water instead of plain water), and that's exactly what it smells like, not more, not less. After an hour it starts to smell more like the Edt but much longer lasting, yet more faint (no sillage). So EdT still wins for me.

A pseudo woody musk fragrance, WML manages to perform like something at least forty dollars above it's price-point. Ultimately impressive in a world of "blah", this scent tries very hard to be a light sweet floral fruity, but something about it's personality just simply will not allow it. The scent starts out with conflicting accords of semi metallic/creamy almond and powdery sunny and joyful honey. A cloud of a whipped cream accord is seen floating above the two rivals. After a long and bitter battle between the honey and almond comes to the point of being a migraine a wet rose kills the happy whipped creme cloud brutally and swiftly, making way for a powerful rose thunderstorm. Almond and honey can't stand being soaked, so they decide to put their differences aside, go indoors and have a nice tall glass of jasmine tea with a sprig of lavender.

I quite like this! When I first tried it, I wasn't impressed because I thought it smelled like baby powder, and nothing else. Having given it a proper second try, though, I smell so much more. I get a much foodier impression, and while I can't say that I eat Turkish delight enough to really know if I'm smelling it or not, I smell something nutty (toasted almost?) and creamy behind the cleaner, soapier musk. The lasting power and projection have also exceeded my expectations. Sillage is soft to moderate, and it lasts me probably a good 5-6 hours. I agree that it's not really a statement fragrance, but it strikes me as quite versatile, and I'm considering investing in the solid perfume version to test against my EDP sample. This is one of my favorites. Musk - check. Whipped cream - check. Honey - check. Rose - check. The recipe adds up to give a very fresh but warm fragrance that stays close to the skin but lasts 6-7 hours in the EDT form. My mom never comments on perfume but she is head over heels for this one. The first time I sprayed it she asked, "What smells like makeup?". It was White Musk Libertine, and mom said it reminded her of a Lancome pressed powder from her youth. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that it is pleasantly powdery. I have taken the plunge and bought the EDP and body cream. Love it so so so much! Edit ~ EdP way too smoky/musky for me. So this is for the Edt I was so pleasantly surprised with this one. I was reluctant to try it at first because I didn't find the name & bottle "appealing", but I thought what the hell - it was in front of me and I had a free arm to spare. I don't know how to describe it just yet as that was my first smell but I'd call it sweet and creamy, with an 'oomph'. Quite seductive actually. It is more powerful than it 'seems' and its lasting power is pretty impressive at 6 hours + on me. As it drys down, the musk dominates. Its not easy these days to find a fragrance from the body shop that has the total package. In to my wish list and bumping it up!

White musk libertine is really the white musk for me. My problem with white musks in the past have been....too boring or too sweaty. This fragrance smells hugely like white musk but it's those little extras that makes this musk stand out and please me. This fragrance is intimate smelling but in a girly, clean way. I mostly get a rose and honey smell. I wish I could smell the whipped cream as much as other people do. Maybe it adds a smoothness to the scent but I can't really pick it up individually. Anyone who knows me and my taste would get that it's up my alley. Not surprisingly I've gotten gifted with this scent twice. Bonus, the bf really likes it.

Originally I bought EDP version (made in France) and it was too much. Too sharp opening (it must be musk+honey, but it felt like aldehydes), too much cream in the dry-down. It was a little too cloying for me. Something about it was still calling my name and I decided to try EDT. The one I got is made in UK and it's PERFECT. I agree with resemblance with Burberry Brit EDT and Chanel No5 EDT. NOT dupe material by any means. But almond in Brit is definitely the same kind, although Libertine is "cleaner" and fresher. As far as No5 goes, it's that same soapy fresh out of the shower feel.

I treated myself to this on my birthday and i kinda impulsed bought it.Sprayed it on in the shop and straight away i thought"Uckk,old ladies perfume"(maybe its because i dont use perfume with honey aroma in it and im not used to that certain smell)But still i went ahead and purchased it thinking maybe it will change on me when it settles down.Still thought a few hours later smells odd to me but when it was evening the beautiful,light mellow muskiness was wafting off my warm skin and i changed my mind.I love this scent.Utterly beautiful.So glad i DID buy it and it changed my mind.

It's been 8 years since I've last owned this, but I remember it to be the most lovely creamy musk I've ever come across. Very feminine, very present, yet very soft. I had bought it the first time in my first year in India and I remember how impressed I was that such a soft fragrance still holds up so well in the humid heat of Mumbai. Seeing all the quite recent reviews here, can anyone tell me where this is still available? In India and Germany it has left the shelves a long time ago. Would I have a chance in the US? In that case I'd keep my eyes open for it on my next visit.

I have the EDP and I adore it, it's one of my all time favorite scents. I think TBS have a lot of nice scents, but most of them are one-dimensional and don't last very long (many of them also smell vaguely like hairspray). White Musk Libertine isn't like that. It lasts very long on my skin, starting out as a heavy musk and rose scent and eventually ending in a very sweet cream and honey. When I was 11 I used to go to this alternative shop that sold crystals and tarot cards - this perfume smells exactly like that shop, it reminds me of incense.

Mmmm. What a nice soft floral scent. I definitely smell the musk and rose in it. Those are the topnotes for me. It has a hint of sweetness to it, but it's not overpowering candy-like sweet. When I sprayed it on at first it was very fresh and rose like, but after a few minutes it became a nice soft warmer floral scent. It doesn't last the whole day but concidering the price I find this a very good deal. Overal this is a type of scent that reminds me of a sunny but chilly day in spring.

I've got good news and bad news. Good news is that I bought 5 bottles 30 ml of Libertine EDP, the last ones from a local shop, for 4 pounds each! The bad news is that it is discontinued, hence the ridiculous price. If you love this one as much as I do, go get it while you can. I don't understand why they discontinued this lovely perfume. It's just so beautiful...

This is a sweet blend of musk, almond and whipped cream. I just love it and I want to eat it. Smells so yummy. I usually wear it at night or during the cold winter days. I would not wear it in summer. Reminds me of Intimately Beckham but less floral. On me it lasts for hours, today I sprayed it at 7 in the morning and now its 4 and I can still smell hints of it.

The EDP is sharp on my skin. But the EDT is just a wonderful, clean, delicate composition. Honeyed vanilla rosey musk. I don't think it really smells like a loukhoum (I LOVE rose loukhoum). But if there was a rose ice cream flavor, I bet it would smell like this. Very airy. Fairy-like. Cuddly. Lasting power is medium, sillage is good.

I bought it because I thought the bottle was cute. At first I smelled nothing more than a fresh cologne, but now I'm surprised by how obsessed I am with it. It is fresh, but also mildly sweet. There is enough floral to make sure it is not too sweet. It stays well on your skin. I have to buy more before they discontinue it.

It's a light and sweetish version of musk. It can be a very good starting point for musks as musks are usually too strong at first, specially when you go from sweet scents towards something completely different, but it's not the case for this perfume. Very nice, and it lasts long on the skin.

Just lovely ! At first floral, then sparkling, and finally sweet, creamy and clean at the same time. According to me the best Body Shop EDP I've ever smelt. It was a blind purchase and I'm very happy to have it now. Perfect for all seasons, for young women. Lasting power is correct.

I LOVE THISSSS! I think it's for teens and for sweet girls you know,no rock girls (or sth like that:p) I prefer it more than the original one. The only problem is that all Body Shop's eau de toielette doesn't last too long..so I decided to buy the Parfum the next time.

I love this perfume so much! Musk just smells great on my skin chemistry and this perfume is just lovely! It smells young, sparkly and energetic! I love using it on a warm summer day when i'm hanging out with my friends or my boyfriend, it's a great perfume for me!

sweet,but still fresh.the musk is only noticeable,its not a muskscent in my opinion.the rose and the honey is there,but the edt,that i bought is more pastel,more just flowery i think. fresh and not too heavy ,i like it.

Im Almost in tears when i think of this scent because i wore it during a very special time for me in winter 2014, so sad its discontinued . It was such a special scent, smoky sweet and musky I MISS IT

I have a 10 ml travel spray of the EDT, and I like it! It's a bit elusive though; I've been wearing it for a couple of days in a row now, trying to pinpoint my opinion, but I think it's just one of those scents you can't really smell on yourself after a couple of minutes, even though the smell is actually still pretty strong (or maybe I just have a cold). From time to time I do get wafts of it, but they're different every time, so it's hard to describe! Two constants remain throughout for me: musk and (whipped) cream. They're the heart of this scent, and complement each other beautifully; it's a soft, creamy, sweet musk, not harsh or intimidating at all, but not cloying either. Then a more candy-like sweetness appears that I guess could be turkish delight, although the dominant presence of musk and cream make it stop short of becoming a typical loukhoum fragrance or even very gourmand at all. Then, most puzzlingly, there are also short moments when the musk retreats completely into the background and all I smell is a delicious honey scent; but when I recover from my surprise and smell again, it's back to normal, so I might have imagined that. Longevity isn't great, but that too could just be that cold or that elusive quality. All in all, I like this very much. Especially when those wafts come up, and all the components come together and it's just soft and sweet and delicious and cozy; not so much when I have to bury my nose in my wrist to smell anything at all. I'll have to see if this keeps happening!

This has great lasting power for a fragrance from The Body Shop its been almost 10 hours since I sprayed it on. I can still smell the creamy sweet drydown and inch or so away from my skin and it had a decent sillage when I first put it on. While I was driving to work my car was filled withthe scent of this fragrance. When you first but the fragrance on it a shocking blast of musk, honey, and rose. Its pretty sharp the first minute or so then it calms down and smooths out it to a musky honeyed rose scent. I personally really like it. The musk lingers for a few hours. I have been really loving musk these last couple of months so was glad it lasted awhile. After the musk and rose disappear there is a tiny bit honey that lingers with the creaminess of this fragrance that comes from the whipped cream. I don't really pick up almond in it at all, but I'm okay with it, so this might not be a great perfume for anyone who is looking for a strong almond note. Its a sweet perfume but it is not to sweet and it balanced really well. Its a great fragrance for a cheap price. * By the way this is a review for the EDP. I also tried it EDT and that was a disaster on my skin blech! To me the EDP is a formula that was composed a lot better. Oh and the body lotion that matches this is also pretty great. If anyone has tried the EDT and hated it maybe give the EDP a chance you might have a change of heart...

I am not a big fan of musks and never got on well with The Body Shop's White Musk, so when I was in one of their shops and this was just out and on special offer I didn't really want to bother. However, I had, rather unusually for me, not put perfume on that morning, so allowed the assistant to spray me. I was pleasantly surprised. I think that this is a musk for those of use who don't really go for musky perfumes. I also don't like honey in a scent and have to say, I can't make out the note in WML at all, which is good. It is a sweet floral to me, but soft, like a blanket, rather than sharp or cloying. On my skin it isn't too sweet either, I think that the sweetness is tempered by the musk. I actually think that this is a very sexy perfume. One downside for me is that it doesn't last very long. I tend to find this with a lot of TBS perfumes, an hour and its gone. I also hate alotting a perfume to an age group, however, there is a sexy seductive feel to this perfume that makes it rather grown up. I feel it is best worn for an intimate dinner when an overpowering scent would be distracting. Libertine is a good name for it. All in all, lovely scent, a bit linear, not very long lasting, but very sexy. If you're just looking for a skin scent for a sexy night, this might be it. I won't buy it again when its gone, but its nice to have at the moment.

Original musk with a lot of powdery turkish delight sweetness thrown in. Perfect, as I like sweet warm scents. I like it more than the original. That one is so cold and generic. This one is sweet (of course), warm and inviting. And the powdery notes give it a sense of cleanliness without being crisp or cold. I'm also impressed by the staying power. I tried the eau de toilette and for the price, I'm impressed. As a comparison, I sprayed two sprays of White Musk Libertine (EDT) on one wrist and three sprays of Yves Rocher Neroli (EDP) on the other wrist, and The Body Shop fragrance is really holding on! It's also cheaper than the other. If I didn't have so many (useless) perfumes, I would surely get it. At least as a body spray. Maybe I'll ask for it on my b-day :D (it doesn't count if it's a gift!). ETA: received the EDP as a b-day gift. The EDP is more powdery and musky and less sweet and creamy than I remember the EDT to be upon testing. It still preserves a sense of cleanliness which is welcome in this hot weather. It's quite long-lasting, given the price, it's going strong from 9 am till 1 pm and then begins to fade until the evening, but it still can be felt on clothes or hair.

This is a sweet Turkish delight scent. I love to eat Loukhum every now and then, the standard rose variety - it is gooey, light pink, rose-flavoured almond stuff, dusted with finely milled sugar. This is excactly how this perfume smells. If anything, it smells a bit more flowery than the real sweet, which is nice. It will surely appeal to people who also like Viva La Juicy or La vie est belle - it has the same wannabe-sexy sweetness that is so en vogue right now, while being a tad more subtle, more reserved than the fragrances mentioned, so perhaps better suited for family gatherings than for party nights. We are currently experiencing a very grey and dreary spring, and this is my Easter fragrance of choice for this weather: light in tone but sweet, lasting power average, strength decent (and its basenotes nicely cling to my shirt). It reminds me of a present wrapped extravagantly in foil, topped with glitter and a giant pink bow with a lot of extra stuff going on, little stars and roses and silver decorations. There is not much substance behind it, but if you open the present, there is delicious turkish delight in there, and what more can you want?

I own the EDT. I got myself a 100ml bottle some months back because it was 70% off. I liked it okay (definitely much better than the original WM), and wore it a bunch of times in winter for running errands or just to smell nice. But now that the weather is getting warm, I like this so much more! Wow! In winter this scent was just a pleasant light sweet musk, nothing gourmand, but now that it's warmer, I can smell every single note listed...amazing! And yum! Never noticed how soft, sweet and creamy WML edt is until now, what a gorgeous blend. It is definitely something for the spring-summer months. I have no problems with the projection, I can still clearly smell it on myself a couple hours later, and it lasts around 5 hours on me, longer on my clothes and hair...not bad for the price. Not bad at all. I'm so impressed by it that I am getting another large bottle and the body lotion as well, it's going to be my signature for spring-summer 2015. It's the perfect warm weather scent for a gourmand lover like me (and yes, I do happen to enjoy soft, clean musks too, so it's a perfect marriage!).

It reminds me of Gucci Eau de Parfum - albeit lighter, more one-dimensional and much much cheaper version. It's a very sweet and clean scent. Easy, wearable and warm, perfect for fall or winter days. And yes, it seems to be more expensive, more luxurious than the price would suggest (you get much more than you paid for). Not much to write home about BUT considering the price it is a very nice surprise. It doesn't change a lot (hence one-dimensional) when you wear it, but everything is blended rather nicely. On me/on my skin there is almost no rose noticeable, it’s more just musky whipped cream with a hint of almond-ish wood. I really like that sweet powdery feeling it leaves me with. It's my everyday scent, perfect for fall and winter. For me it goes rather well with jeans and cashmere-blend sweaters, simple jackets and snoods. Easy and uncomplicated. The scent doesn't last on me very long (3.5-4.5 hours), yet on clothes you can smell it a bit longer.

This scent reminds me of marshmallows, a blue sky with a few fluffy clouds, chirping birds, clean laundry hanging in the wind. It’s a very carefree, inocent scent to me. It’s musky and sweet, but not sickly sweet. The airiness of musk makes it lighter. There’re many musky sweet fragrances out there to make it unique, but I have yet to find another fragrance that evokes me such lighthearted picture. Whenever I wear it, I feel like walking on cushions. I’m using it as my happy scent at the moment, since I think it suits well the end of summer and the beginning of fall, when everything isn’t yet melancholic. It’s well suited for spring as well, but I wouldn’t wear it during winter nor summer. The projection is moderate during the first 3 hours or so, and the longevity is quite great. I get about 6 or 7 hours of bliss. It’s long discontinued as far as I know, but I’ll enjoy it until its last drop.

I honestly did rush to the nearest The Body Shop store right after I opened this page and saw there's whipped cream on the notes and then the reviews didn't really matter anymore cos must smell it myself. I always liked the idea of cream and milk notes but sadly it's difficult to get access to perfumes with those notes here in my country. And that's why I got really excited for this one, it's accessible. Yay! Now the Libertine, it smells like the TBS white musk but slightly sweeter, and I find it more pleasant than the regular white musk which can be a little strong in the beginning. Libertine is a yummy sweet musk. Needless to say, I got it right then and there. As with many other TBS fragrance, the lasting power of this one is weak. Maybe with the body lotion this will last longer. I'm still happy with it. Plus I like the bottle.

The opening of White Musk Libertine EDP seems to be out of balance. A lot of alcohol bursts out with overwhelming sweet honey, cream and rose. However, given a few minutes to allow it settle down, the balance among these ingredients is recovered. Although it's not an exact replica of turkish delight, this creamy compostion certainly has several characteristics of this delicious confectionary and vaguely reminds me of it. The scent doesn't evolve much afterwards, but simply fades away. And the musk is not very prominent on my skin. The sillage of EDP is close to skin and the longevity is about 6 hours. The EDT concentration opens quite balanced like the EDP once settled down. However, it soon loses its strength and waters down. I thus largely prefer EDP once the opening has passed.

This is for the EDP. Not sickeningly sweet but gentle honey mixed with roses.... a very slight milk/sugar scent but mostly honey. It's not overwhelming or sticky sweet at any rate, but like a spoonful of sugar in your coffee. It softens the musk -- their regular White Musk is very sharp, almost industrial and cold. The musk in this with the sweeter accords is softer and warmer. This is a great lazy day scent or for layer under florals that don't have musk in them. One of my "staple" musks -- very nice and not very expensive! Hard to lose for a casual scent. Probably not strong enough for night wear however. Only real complaint is the name? I would think Libertine would be sexier, it's more comforting than sexy.
