White Musk Perfume Oil

Mi piaceva quando lo sentivo su altre persone gia negli anni 80, senza sapere cosa fosse. Negli anni 90 l'ho finalmente trovato e comprato e da allora ogni tanto mi riconquista. Ne ho bottiglie degli anni 80, 90 e seguenti e sono percettibilmente diverse. La prima formulazione era fredda e verde,inizialmente brillante e poi piena di scintillio colorato, fredda e tiepida ma indimenticabile. La seconda degli anni 90 era più potente e intensa,si diffondeva e durava ore ed ore. La terza non so quando sia stata introdotta ma risulta quasi cremosa,lattea, meno fredda e tagliente e più piena di patchouli. Ed è la formula che si trovava nelle boccette viola trasparente,fino al cambiamento radicale con la versione vegana che non ho sentito. Ma le migliori sono le prime,anni 80 e 90. Purtroppo la caratteristica peculiare del White musk iniziale è stata modificata nel cordo degli anni, dal 2000 in poi passando da fragranza fredda,inebriante,con la base di muschio di quercia e vaniglia a fragranza molto più dolce quasi cremosa, meno fredda e più vanigliata col fondo di patchouli caldo che non rende la stessa sensazione di prima. Nonostante sia molto buona e particolare, non conserva più l'effetto siderale che la caratterizzava dal 1981 alla fine degli anni 90.

Sananda@37a minute ago I have all the original three variants the oil, edp and mist. All three are unbelievably strong and beautiful. I haven't tried the new vegan version but I fear they may have just botched it. The ogs in all three forms were stunning and I can understand that why 10 or more years ago why I got all three together. So glad that I still have some of the original juice of all three left to cherish. It's floral and powdery taking the best of Chanel(n°5,19,1957) Dior(New look 1947) and Guerlain (l'heure blue, samsara) yet ever so humble. It's of a bygone Era. This is old is gold kind of vintage. Very underrated. For that matter no perfumes available in the market deserve to be priced higher than this but then again I guess the new vegan versions have been messed with and messed up. I barely touched the applicator stick to my skin but that was enough. It glistened for the longest time till perhaps my movements caused it to rub of. The mist opens strong but settles down whereas the fragrance oil keeps on developing when after a good 3hrs it gets cozy. Track down the older non-vegan formula of this oil if you can. It's in the purple tinged bottle depicted in the photo and it's so smooth, clean and creamy. I'd describe it as a fresh, rounded, slightly soapy, and slightly warm floral skin musk, smoother than Jovan White and Narciso Pure Musk; I own all three. The Body Shop's version is the easiest to wear every day. The Jovan can smell dated and the Narciso can be sharp, but this one is just right and makes one smell angelic and composed. I can't speak to the quality of the new vegan formula but all accounts of it that I have heard were negative which does not inspire much hope. The oil version of this is better than the EDP. Track it down (the older non-vegan formula) before the price shoots up.

I have a rollerball of the new vegan formula. It’s like a slightly stronger version of Jōvan White Musk for Women, but with an underlying note that faintly smells like saliva. The rollerball itself (the one I have, at least) is a bit tricky to use; if you press down too hard, it won’t dispense any of the oil. The oil itself is pretty thin and absorbs into your skin quickly. As with Cacharel’s Noa and 1881 Cerruti, heat improves the sillage. This is another one of those scents that works great for layering, too. I layered it under the new Chloè EDP to give it a bit of a boost. It’s very versatile, but I wish I could get hold of the old formula too.

I'm seeing notes of rose, peach, lily, and whatever, I don't get any of that. Maybe I have an unsophisticated nose, but to me this smells like candle wax. That isn't a bad thing, I love the smell of candle wax. I have this recurring dream where I'm in a cottage that's also a candle factory, and I'm trying to climb these giant candles but they're melting and I get stuck in the melted wax. That's what this scent reminds me of. Anyway, I love this scent! I wear it every day and it's great for layering. I am also very headache-prone and this is the only fragrance that hasn't caused me any problems, ever.

Since The Body Shop changed the white musk formula to vegan, last year, I am absolutely heartbroken. It feels as if the most classic perfume became a cheap smell with almost chemical undertones. This was my number one perfume for more than 25 years, my signature scent and one that would linger long after wearing it. I truly believe, there are thousands like me, who wore it for many many years and are now distraught. I would layer it with either the Emporio Armani She and later Night (discontinued for many years, sadly) or the Calvin Klein Eternity Moment (another signature of mine, discontinued).

The slightly prim little sister of Kiehl's musk oil. Such an easy-to-wear everyday scent, instant throwback to my teens but somehow still very relevant and, dare I say, modern. I have the bottle in the picture, which is apparently non vegan. It's cozy, enveloping without being overpowering, lasts all day and such great value. Love.

I had been looking for a nice skin scent for everyday use and so far this is hitting the mark. I really like that it sits close to the skin like a cashmere sweater on a cold day while sitting by the fire. It’s stunning. It doesn’t last long but what is left is a skin but better scent.

This is my favorite white musk from all of the ones that I've ever smelled. I feel like I smell very inviting and friendly. 10/10, but hard to layer or pair. I can agree with the comment below, it's kind of like a musky candle (which is why it's hard to layer).

Layering this with les eaux from guerlain. so far quite beautiful! now if u excuse me im going to experiment more with this perfume and i think im gonna have some fun muahahaha

I bought a one ounce bottle of this in the early nineties from a mall location. At the time I thought it was expensive. It was $15 and I was a college student. However the shop worker told me "this small bottle will last you 30 years." It has lasted me LONGER than 30 years. I still have half a bottle. I like wearing this perfume when I want to wear something soft and intimate, but don't feel like making a statement. It's a beautiful, warm musky & powdery scent that seems to expand as it heats up on my skin. Every time I go back to it, I'm reminded how timeless and pleasant it is to wear.

Nice to have in your collection as a good skin scent and layering base. Good as a stand alone but not very projecting, it's a scent I alway recommend for teenager as their school signature fragrance. I cannot imagine anybody beeing offended by this so close to the skin scent and the oil formulation doesnt dry or iritate the skin.

A fan of the body shop in my college days and had this white musk perfume oil but in the older packaging (transparent bottle). it is gentle and soft and lovely. Good for layering too. I won't be buying again though as there are much better options with better longevity and projection. Good memories with it though.

This fragrance is so versatile! Just a simple fresh clean musk and could definitely be unisex, this is my fresh out the shower fragrance. Perfect scent for a signature everyday scent, good for work/ school literally anything.

The new vegan formula is so terrible! It is so watered-down it barely smells of anything and I’m being generous. Cannot believe how much they have watered this down I am absolutely heartbroken. I have been wearing this fragrance since I was 17 and I am now 42 so you could say I have a lot of experience with this scent. I agree with a review below search out the older bottle because as it stands now it is definitely not worth it. I guess the saying that all good things come to an end is true but still very heartbreaking 💔
