Majaïna Sin

This is such a unique take on a spicy scent. I don't know anything like it and don't find it similar to the usual vanilla gourmands. You know how scents with a prominent cinnamon note usually come across as very autumnal or Christmas-like? This has heaps of cinnamon and doesn't do that. Majaïna Sin opens up with a bracing blast of ginger that quickly turns fizzy and sweeter. The mix of ginger and citrus notes with an underlying sweetness from the heart and base notes reminds me of ginger ale, it has a bright and uplifting effect. Then the scent turns warmer. This has a maple syrup note that is for some reason not listed on fragrantica, but is very noticeable to my nose. It works together perfectly with the vanilla, heliotrope, ginger and cinnamon, very warm and sweet but with a fiery spiciness to set it all off. The florals in this are subtle but keep the fragrance fresh and balanced. It never goes full gourmand, but stays on the edge of it. Texture-wise this is lush and syrupy with a light dry overlay from the spices. It feels a bit synthetic at times, but in a cool, modern way, like a fizzy drink or a candy is synthetic but still tasty. I sometimes get phantom berry or plum notes from this for a moment, but it makes sense that they're not in the notes list, it's more of a vibe than a true replication of those fruits. I'd say this is wearable almost year round, day and night, even though autumn might be the most obvious choice. It has a normal, good performance but it's not an extremely heavy hitter.

Great gourmand, it increases your blood sugar to risky levels but in the right person it is signature material for its glow and sensuality. It is definitely not for me, I tested this once in a meeting with many friends and thought it was overwhelming but then looked around and spotted this red-haired, gorgeous, mid 20s friend of mine and said: "this is you!" Everyone raved over how good and appropriate this was for her... she exuded charm and presence. The sillage is amazing and behaves well. It lasts very long and I wonder why it works so well even if it has some of my least liked notes (tonka, heliotrope). My guess is the candied orange, chestnut and ginger add a twist that makes this smell well blended and pretty recognisable among the 1000+ gourmands in the market. I don't recommend a blindbuy though but sample it and wait some minutes after the first sugary impact. It could well work as unisex although it needs a certain personality behind to give it depth. For many it will be a mess at first test but believe me it is sensational. As I said when reviewing Deliria by L'artisan Parfumeur, these cloying sweeties are stupendously successful on some skins.

I highly recommend you don't look at the pyramid while smelling a perfume for the first time. It'll clout your perception and I look for a guttural response when smelling a perfume-I like what I like and I trust my nose to just smell something and for me to have an unbiased emotional response from a fragrance. Immediately after trying this, I was pleasantly surprised and it was a definite YES for me! I love this one. It's a very wearable, spicy fragrance that is blended well and not overwhelming or stifling by any means. This could be worn during the day and it's safe to wear in all seasons, IMO. It just smells good! I'm not a big fan of nutty notes in fragrances or heavy ambery spicy perfumes and this is none of those. It's sweet, a little spicy, airy and light but the scent payoff is fairly good. I think Cooperman did a fantastic job of blending all of these notes to create a very harmonious composition that doesn't lean in any one direction. I don't perceive it as a citrus fragrance, but a light airy amber+spice fragrance and it has that same light and airiness that you find in BR540. BONUS-discounted at Fragrancenet.

So impressed with this one. wow. very classical french using oriental ingredients. Vanilla, orange, heliotrope, nutty, cinnamon, sandalwood. All perfectly perfectly blended. No notes are overpowering each other. It's sweet but the the citruses, the neroli all the fresh notes are balancing the composition. I've been dying to try this house since 2016. It's in the same category as PDM Herod, but i'm more impressed in this one. They both smell like warm vanilla. And I love Herod so much but this one dethrones Herod but in beautiful smokier base Herod wins. It dries down similar to feve delicious, but there is so much more going on here. The vanilla acts as a backbone of all these high quality ingredients. It's not cheaply sweet, the sweetness comes from the florals. Now i'm more curious in this house. Blind bought Oriental lounge. Wearing it for week it's not a gourmand. it's more like a floral vanilla. the heliotrope and the orchid is quite prominent. Smoooooth like heaven.

This quite a weird combination! It has a velvet touch yet slightly sour and gourmand! It has hazelnut, chestnut, then few heliotrope, sandalwood, then the Tonka and vanilla comes, then the ginger and orange neroli comes in. I even can detect cinnamon. The colder it goes the more amber I can detect. Quite wired to be honest as I kind of feel it's cloying sweet. Fair and fine. Edit (31st Oct 2018) Oh MY GOD! this is extremely similar to "Malia" by Nobile 1942 with that sharp gourmand rosy and tobacco blossoms. I am infatuated and very pleased! i really wonder how did this one passed me by that easily. Since "Malia" is one of my favorites, "Majaina" is a LOVE, "a bewitching elixir"?? indeed! Wow.

Beautiful sweet spicy fragrance. I actually got sent this as a 2ml tester when ordering other perfumes from jovoy. I guess they looked as my scent profile and threw this in and I’m so glad they did! I honestly can’t explain this fragrance well enough. The chestnut gives the top notes a nuttiness while The cinnamon adds a spiced warmth to the sweet vanilla sandalwood and tonka bean. My mouth actually kind of waters when I smell this on my skin. It’s kind of a gourmand but not in the “sweet/candy/caramel/dessert” way. I went and bought the full bottle. Lasts a while too up to 6hrs off one spray I got.

a gorgeous winter gourmand full of whipped chestnut cream and candied oranges with some powdery florals to add some fluff. The opening is bright and zingy with a prominent ginger and oranges with hints of citrusy neroli and fluffy orange blossom. The mid notes offer a creamy and nutty medley with subtle maple and sweet heliotropes. The dry down is a tame vanilla with warmth to it and some depth coming from the tonka. The citrus maintains itself until the full drydown, but you still catch whiffs of that chestnut and maple.

Yes, yes yes. Something I won’t wear every day, it is a piece of jewellery. Could wear it at daylight, but I can see a night out wearing this also. Sexy, but not so much that it’s only allowed to wear on dates, because humans won’t be able to compose themselves in your presence. This is allowed. Yet you will still stand out. Good scent, I’m glad I’ve found it.

Very different than other things in the market. Yes there’s spice but it’s also rounded out with florals, sweetness. There’s an almost shampooey quality in there that I think helps this be wearable and not just a spice drawer. It’s really nice but I’m not sure full bottle worthy.

This perfume is so beautiful in a hot weather. I actually bought for a colder one, because it’s very gourmand, but maybe because it’s not overwhelming and sits close to your skin, it is absolutely gorgeous for the spring summer night. Development is amazing! Beautiful!

Such a gorgeous scent, I got a sample and I’m debating on getting a full bottle. I tried layering it with Demeter’s Honeysuckle perfume oil and it’s divine! I wish it lasted a bit longer and had more sillage, but overall I really like this.

Something like sweetened chai tea (with softened cinnamon) plus a very particular, subtle floral element to by-pass a fully gourmand effect. Also, very polished and expansive, smells very intentional and expertly crafted.

I like this type of sweet scent, complex and have some depth in it--I think it's because of the blend of bitter orange and ginger. Can be quite heavy for summer, but perfect for cold weather. Last for about 7 hours.

Majaina Sin is rich. Not necessarily as in money, though it doesn't smell cheap or anything, rather that is smells sweetly indulgent while retaining enough of an amber element to keep it in perfume territory. My immediate thought was peanut butter fudge. Not so much the peanut aspect, it doesn't really have that specific tinge, but the sweet, is it creaminess, vague powderiness maybe? For the first hour or so that is primarily what I think of. I can't say I pick up on much citrus or spice at all, it is layered well into the fragrance the way a dash of cinnamon can go undetected in a dessert but add dimension. After a while I get more of the amber, it comes off as ambrette, not overly heavy or mature. While I enjoy gourmand scents, sometimes it is just a bit too strong for me. It is more agreeable in cool weather. If you enjoy Clean Radiant Nectar or Skin then I think you may enjoy this as a more complex cold weather alternative. It would be great for someone who wants to still feel sophisticated but also wants to smell like a dessert. I find the longevity average but sillage on the stronger yet uninvasive side for me. Doesn't cause headaches but could aggravate an existing one. Attracts compliments.

Doesn't stand out from the sea of fall/ Christmas frags but still very delicious. Thick cubes of candied orange rind, glistening in a cinnamon and allspice pound cake. Orange zesty plumpness happily enlivens chestnut, the note I've been interested the most in. Well, chestnut lovers, rejoice! Chestnut sweet, savoury and starchy nuances just made right: fine, delicate, creamy... and it lasts forever, something I seldom experience with other frags. While gourmand vanilla, nutty tonka and powdery heliotrope support smooth chestnut by giving some reliable body and softening the edges. Just like the actual holiday cake ;)

I bought it two times 10ml and 5ml. I always think should i buy full bottle or no. For me is caramel with flowers. Not for winter. Maybe spring but cold spring when were is still snow. Its cozy, warm. When i smell it i go back to my childhood when mom picked me up from school. I don’t know why. Not unique but it’s smells nice. I would used it in sunny autumn when it’s starting to get cold or cold spring. I don’t know if it’s suitable for winter. Average sillage and average uniques. It’s young woman perfume. But not for classy lady over 30

I am testing fragrances for my wedding day scent and I chose this to test. At first sniff it instantly reminded me of Tender Romance by Ralph Lauren. Very similar vibes. Tender Romance is the first fragrance my guy ever bought me so it holds a special place in my heart. Now my thoughts on this fragrance are this. A beautiful well blended fragrance with sillage close to the skin. Longevity was 4 hours. Not unique to me but a great dupe if I am ever craving Tender Romance.

As many others have noted below, there are similar scents on the market, as this kind of sweetened gourmand perfume is currently trending. That said, I am enjoying Majaïna Sin. It’s a spicey, sweet vanilla and tonka fruity gourmand. Lovely and can imagine it being an easy reach. Somehow—even though you can find others that are similar—Majaïna Sin works better in this category, likely attributed to the perfumer and quality ingredients in the composition.

Very lovely scent, although I can’t tell too much about which note is which since it’s very nicely blended. The opening gives you that touch of spice, not too much to the point of medicinal-like smell. I was given a sample of it the other day and almost immediately thought it smells like something. To my experience, the dry down is 90-95% similar to BDK Pas De Soir, minus the patchouli which somehow makes it less earthy and more ambery/musky.

burberry her vibes?? a little overpriced i will be honest, although i'm more of the opinion that niche expensive fragrances should have complexity and interest to it. i had hope for the chestnut but it's just sweetness to my nose edit: wait i'm getting the chestnut. and actually i still think it's overpriced but it is quite nice smelling, i keep bringing my wrist up to smell

Very warm and sweet, spicy, I don't get much from the chestnut but I believe it adds to the wholeness and warmth of the scent. It is extremely likeable, but I don't find it to be spectacular. Expected a lot more. Good for a winter scent, but it is reminiscent of spicy vanilla body sprays.

This is a very complex yet simple smell IMO. I get a lot of warm spicy notes with the ginger, cinnamon, and orange notes. I like it a lot for the winter/fall time but it doesn't last as long as I'd like. I don't get much chestnut in this. I would recommend to a friend. It is a safe buy.

An adult impression with the coldness of salt crystals and the hidden taste of black pepper and incense. Ylang Ylang and jasmine gently add a gentle floral scent. A sweet marine scent.

Majaina Sin is a sweet, bright, warm, uber-girly fruity-floral-amber, very much like Coco Mademoiselle and its many hot-pink imitators. It’s the smell of the most popular girl in high school...which feels pretty silly on me at age 34. But like Coco Mad and unlike many of its imitators, Majaina Sin is actually good. It’s a solidly cheerful scent chord, with no shrill chemical off-notes, bright pink on top shading into warm amber on the bottom. By the 3-hour mark, it’s all vanilla-amber with a hint of cinnamon, and it’s a little more grown-up in effect — let’s say, a 21-year-old Barbie in gold lame, ready to go clubbing. Good lighthearted fun. no discernible chestnut, despite the notes; my search for the perfect chestnut-cream scent continues.

Quite disappointed with this one; I don’t really smell what the pyramid suggests. The opening is very heavy on alcohol (denatured), followed by a hint of ginger. There’s a slightly sweet undertone, but I don’t pick up any cinnamon or chestnut. After about an hour, the faint sweetness becomes more prominent (mainly maple syrup and perhaps a bit of chestnut), and Majaïna Sin becomes more pleasant, but it doesn’t captivate me. I completely agree with some of the reviews below: it feels rather cheap, and I was expecting a much warmer fragrance. It’s not that it smells bad, but it’s just 'perfume', and I find it projects very weakly, which isn’t a good point either. In short, disappointment and no future purchase.

Very strong citrus and amber fragrance with a touch of spice. I don't get any nuttiness, florals, or vanilla. I think I had a B&BW lotion that was similar in high school, so it does smell kind of cheap (although it's $170!). I really liked the sharp citrus and spice note on initial spritz, but as it sits on the skin it gets too warm for me. I have a hard time distinguishing specific notes once this has settled, which I don't mind in some fragrances, but I don't like it here. For $170, this is a no for me. The vanilla starts to pull through slightly as this settles on the skin (it's been about an hour since I applied), but the dominant notes are citrus, maybe some ginger, and amber.

This is a nice sweet scent, I wore it today from one of the samples I purchased at Jovoy the other day. It did not stand out, and while I was walking I felt like it smelled good in a Zara scent kind of way, it definitely has a cheap smelling base. It is not expensive, I think quite fairly priced, but the performance was weak, lasting only a few hours on my skin, so for me that is a hard pass. I loved it on paper, but on my skin it smelled like vanilla chai perfume for Zara - nothing memorable

A pleasant but generic fruity ambery sweet scent. The only interesting part of this is the chestnut, it otherwise reminds me of BBW’s fall winter collection. I can see it getting cloying kind of fast, and I’ve definitely gotten close to people who over sprayed this type of thing. Slight BO after dry down.

A superdose of warm amber, tonka, and and airy cloud of spice. Transparent and light to wear, while still leaving a notable scent trail. Still, the scent profile is not for me. I am selling my full bottle if anyone is interested.

A totally commercial lambda floral-vanilla. Generic and even cheap

really surprised how this smells. my expectations were quite different. beginning to realize ginger and nuts/chestnut are not my thing. I love both ginger and nuts in cuisine but in fragrance it never translates well for me. this smells murky and muddled. slightly burnt like that scent of roasted peanut stands wafting from a distance in NYC. this verges on the smell of an actual odd aroma in real life when you walk into someone’s house after they’ve been cooking instead of obviously being a perfume. It’s not particularly sweet. definitely no obvious vanilla or ambery accord on me. just a murky weird thing. I like TDC. have owned and enjoyed Oriental Lounge and De Bachmakov and Sublime Balkiss. This one really misses the mark for me.

I saw this at a great price and nearly blind bought it. I'm so glad I didn't. On my skin, this reads as orange flavoured pencil shavings. Nothing more and nothing less.

This smells like whatever Victoria’s Secret was dispersing through their air vents in the early 2010s.

This one chokes me. I thought I would love this one based on the notes, but I dont think it works. It's too warm, with a strong citrus and ambery scent. It does smell cheap like others mentioned, or at least it does't feel refined to me. Glad I only got a sample because I would have been so disappointed.

Delicious and delectable for sure, but for my taste (alone), there are several too many spoonsful of sugar in the mix, meaning that the true nutty/powdery/floury character of the chestnut gets lost in a great big puddle of molten fudge. It nearly pulls it off - OH so nearly - but in the end the sweetness, stickily glooping over everything and underlined even further by the vanilla (not all that classy here, sadly) and the heliotrope (a dangerously 'high' sweet note in anything) make it just too much for me. But you can't deny the distinctive, solid, chestnutty heart to it, and overall it's certainly really classily done for a gourmand. Definitely not just some standard syrupy-fruity-patchouli-girly generic mix, but a properly classy bit of cuisine full of great ingredients. A shame that it cloys on my nose because I can still recognise its very numerous assets. Really worth trying if upscale vanilla or slightly unusual, off-key gourmands are what make your mouth water. Sillage is a big cloud of sweetness at first, though it dies back quickly; longevity firm but not startling at 4-6 h total. The more subtle after-whiff of spice and flowers it leaves on the skin is just as good as the more extrovert first phase. Reasonably priced, too. If you sense that this will work for you, it probably will, and the chestnut is truly lovely. My nose just yearned for more of that, for it to be the star of the show, and with less of the candied sweetness all around it. Seems pretty femme to me, but any man prepared to wear Baccarat Rouge or similar would be able to carry this one as well. So: it read like my idea of heaven, but in the end, a bit too cute to truly charm me. Definitely has its moments, though.

The thoughtful extras , this frag included funnel and a fragrance pouch, enhancing the unboxing experience. There has been much discussion comparing this fragrance to Dior’s Poison, Britney Spears’ Fantasy, or Zadig & Voltaire creations. However, while they may share some familiar resemblance, this scent stands apart. Unlike the sharper, more pronounced sweet notes in those fragrances, this one is softer, more refined, and effortlessly fluffy. It feels delicate yet undeniably rich, striking a balance that elevates it above its counterparts. it’s a symphony of vanilla and orange, blending into a creamy, fluffy sweetness that immediately evokes the indulgent essence of a luxurious cake. The interplay of these notes creates a gourmand quality, If you’re familiar with Xerjoff’s Dolce Amalfi, this could be considered its softer, more understated cousin, while still carving out its own distinct identity. a masterpiece of subtle luxury. 🫶

There are few reviews of this floating around the interwebs that claim, quite correctly, that this is a feminine floral fragrance. Indeed, a tribute to Madagascan vanilla that bears no resemblance, neither to sugary vanillin nor the complex, woody. slightly bitter nuances of a natural vanilla. Whatever vanilla this has is drowned in white (and other) florals, and whipped cream a la La Vie est Belle. Distinctly and softly feminine (meaning smelling similar to some female-targeted designers), I did not rate it as my expectations were disappointed, and I'm not the right audience for this. If you like fragrances in the vein of intense versions of La Vie Est Belle, or perhaps YSL's Libre, then this might be the perfume for you.

I've tried this a couple times now (2ml tester) and it puzzled me because I'm 100% sure I have something in my collection that has same kind of opening. Regardless the notes, I get in the opening something a little bit zesty, red berries and slightly "burnt sugar" sweetness. It's very similar to the opening of Burberry Her Intense. After the very opening these perfumes go in different directions. TBH I have tested Majaina Sin so that I haven't had time to really focus on the perfume after spritzing it on. I have a feeling it turns quite mellow, but can't say anything for sure. Also I feel that it makes a great difference to spray perfume from an actual bottle rather than a tester.

Opinions will differ and you have to try this yourself however my impression is also that there are many similar mainstream fragrances along this line. Whether they did a great job, or this one falls short, not sure, but it does smell very mainstream. A little sweet, a little plastic, a little bubble gum. Chesnut? What chesnut! Based on the notes I was hoping this would be like a dragee, with the heliotrope and vanillas, but instead of almond the chesnut could give it a festive, christmassy feel. I know now what this reminds me of. La Rive Fleur de Femme which is a Poison girl clone.

Given that this is compared to the Zadig & Voltaire n I'm anosmic to that one, I should've guessed I'd be underwhelmed by this. I find it quite faint and strangely it does a reverse on me, I get the vanillery base first (but with an unpleasantly indolic blast) then much later a bit of quite bitter orange comes through, with a bit of sweetness at the same time, like candied dried orange peel. Wish I had the receptors for this, it sounds beautiful if you can smell the whole thing properly.

Most of all it reminds me of sweet syrup you add into coffee. Starts with warm orange with vanilla, quite artificial one, I should say. Then develops into floral, still sweet and a bit powdery, with a hint of sourness. There is a chestnuts in base, and quite prominent, reminding me of Noir Exquise L'Artisan. And yes, I would not recognize it as a niche perfume if I'll do blind test, it's more Douglas/Sephora type of fragrance. Still nice and cute, but I expect a bit more originality.

This one is a "try it" before you buy it kinda scent. On me, i detect no obvious vanilla. It is not sweet and no, this does not behave like a gourmand on me. It's like opnening an empty glass bottle, that once contained some ginger and orange blossoms. If I had not read the notes prior to the sample purchase, perhaps I'd not be able to pin point the notes either. It's a muddle scent, nothing to distinct and no note too profound. Definitely not full bottle purchase worthy, for me.

Majaina-Sin is an oriental fragrance. It has a well-known DNA, and you probably smelled this DNA in many fragrances. The combination of Bergamot and orange blossom on an ambery base, decorating with some floral and spicy notes. But it's a very refined fragrance with balanced notes, and it's very enjoyable. Most fragrances lose their character on the dry-down, but this one has a smooth, and nice dry-down which is a plus point. It's more feminine. 7/10

This smells like a bolder, less muted version of La Femme by Emanuel Ungaro, even though the only notes they share are heliotrope, vanilla and sandalwood. Majaina Sin is a juicy, fruity amber that smells like candies sold during Christmastime, but I agree with the person below who mentioned Victoria's Secret. I think this would become very irritating very quickly.
