Blast From the Past

Blast from the Past captures the scent of Antaeus perfectly. It's almost exactly on point and I'll say the performance is just as good, if not, a tad better than the original classic from Chanel. I have both fragrances and if you sprayed both my arms, one with Antaeus and the other with BFTP, then blindfolded me I wouldnt tell the honest difference!!

This review compares Blast from the Past to the Antaeus currently available from Chanel. I did a side by side with Antaeus on the back of my left hand and Blast from the Past on the right. On the initial spray, Blast from the Past is definitely jarring and aggressive, more so than Antaeus. There's a quite strong citrus blast. As it dries down, the two fragrances diverge; I'd rate them at maybe about 60% the same. With Antaeus, there is a definite rose note that peaks out and the occasional rubber tire scent. Antaeus also has a slightly sweeter, incense scent (assuming that's the myrhh) that Blast from the Past lacks. Blast from the Past smells much more green and herby than Antaeus at this stage. I didn't really recognize the rose note, occasional tire rubber nor the sweet incense that Antaeus has. As both fragrances dried down and stabilized, they interestingly begin to converge. After about 45 minutes to an hour, I'd say Antaeus and Blast from the Past smell about 95% the same, although Blast from the Past is much more powerful - it projects strongly and leaves an obvious scent trail. The initial sheen from the Antaeus spray disappears while Blast from the Past leaves an oily residue. After about two hours and no further evolution of the scents, I scrubbed my hands to remove both fragrances as best I could and reapplied Blast from the Past with one spray to the chest and about a half spray to each side of the neck. VERY potent. After about 45 minutes, I was rolling in a cloud of the Antaeus scent which I like so much. This time around, I did get a very subtle rose note. Blast from the Past has beast mode performance. Wasn't room filling, but definitely left behind a 6'+ trail. After about 10 to 12 hours, still had a pretty dense scent bubble around me for about 1 or 2 feet out. Upon getting up the next day, a strong skin scent remained and the scent had transferred to my shirt and was very obvious even though I hadn't sprayed my shirt. Blast from the Past could easily be used to smoke out a room if you apply a couple of full sprays to the neck and a full spray or two to your shirt. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the scent and performance of Blast from the Past. After it settles, it is very close to current Antaeus but way more powerful. If you like Antaeus, you'll like Blast from the Past. Note that Dua was aiming to duplicate vintage Antaeus. Could not do that comparison because I don't have vintage Antaeus.

This stuff does not smell like Antaeus. The base is heavy almond oil that takes the Dua fragrance in a different direction. I did not like the Dua Blast from the Past. I tried, but it is not an enjoyable scent. Somebody will say that it is supposed to reproduce the vintage smell, but nope. I know vintage Anteus and this is not it. The reviews in the Dua website are fake; I left a couple of negative reviews and Dua screened out my review. Do not buy this thing expecting to get Antaeus.
