Cocolicious

I was starting to worry, because the other Dua coconut fragrance that I tried (just a 10-ml bottle, luckily), Creamy Vanilla and Coconut, was far too gourmand for my taste. (I should have realized, because it was exactly as described in the notes, but I just thought I would like it more, I guess--my husband said it smelled like a dessert and like body lotion, and we both thought two sprays were too much.) No such issues with Cocolicious; if anything it's sort of soft, and very much like suntan lotion--the good kind, though, that you want to slather on your body in the sunshine. Plenty of coconut and vanilla, but the tiare, tuberose, and sandalwood keep this from smelling too edible. I have enough experience with Dua to know that they tend to improve a lot over time, but this one smells great about 40 hours after arrival. It makes me think I might enjoy the other one more if I added a woody white floral or something. I doubt it will smell as good as Cocolicious, though. I'd be lying if I said it didn't remind me a little of Palmer's cocoa butter, but that's a wonderful fragrance, and if it has extrait longevity and throw, well, all the better. Now excuse me while I put on my red light mask and pretend I'm in Ibiza. Update: I got a travel sprayer of Beach Walk by Maison Margiela, and I like this better. I love it more and more. I don't yet have Terracotta le Parfum by Guerlain, although it's on my wish list, but this seems to fill a similar olfactory slot. Like Coppertone and sunlight and the ever so slight plastic smell of a warm bottle of the stuff that just makes you browner and doesn't protect you one bit. Like the 1970s, I suppose.

I have had terrible experiences with DUA as a whole. I've tried many and always ended up highly disappointed and having to sell at a loss. But Cocolicious is good. Really good actually. I get great performance from it also.

Finally a DUA coconut fragrance I like! Lovely, coconutty, slightly floral, just a beauty. The previous DUA coconut fragrances I excitedly purchased (Coconut Gelato, Creamy Vanilla & Coconut, Whipped Coconut Milk Cream, Creamy Tropic Elixir) gave me anything but the lovely coconut I was after. I swapped them away one by one. But then I received a sample of Cocolicious and I jumped for joy! She’s coconutty, tropical, suntanny, creamy island flowers. She’s beautiful. But I’m disappointed that she isn’t stronger to my nose. I don’t like wearing beast mode scents — I like my fragrances to be detectable to those closer to me, but not a huge projector. Sadly, this one isn’t even an average strength fragrance to me. She’s extremely light. That’s my only complaint.
