Gâteau au Citrón

I really enjoy this fragrance. It definitely has a discernable butter note, which i find interesting and yummy. When you first spray its a really bright almost lemon pledge tart lemon, and then the baked goods notes come through it smells like a buttery lemon dessert. My husband says it kind of smells like butter popcorn, which I can kind of see.

This was nothing like I expected and I’m happy. I wanted lemon cake but instead got butter drenched popcorn. I mean. The butter note is intense and domineering on my skin. Absolutely delish.

Very strong cake note. I don't get popcorn at all. For a lemon gourmand, I much prefer Dua's Sweet Lemon Pastry.

The top note is yummy but the middle to last smells dusty on my skin.

Anywho...so yes, the beauty of Gateau Citron is in the drydown, if you can wait for it. It is weird and it's still a lil weird even in the drydown, salty, oily (I know that's not a smell but it's the vibe with this perfume). I don't get cupcake n frosting from this one. This one is hard to explain. I'd recommend a sample and not a blind buy. EDIT: This is AWFUL!!! After leaving it alone for a couple of months, I came back to try again. I was already on the fence with it and maceration has only made this worse. If you're searching for a creamy lemon cake with buttercream icing, stay far away from this because it's not even close. I had a visceral reaction to this today-nausea. And I can't even scrub it off because it's POTENT. In a review of this in July, I stated that there is beauty in the drydown. I must've been trying to convince myself that I liked it because that can't be further from the truth. Popcorn, rotten milk, butter, oil...please don't blind buy this thinking the way I did: "Ooohhhh a lemon meringue type pastry 🤩🤩!! I need it!" Yeah that was me. Just don't...test this first. Smell is subjective (sometimes) so this only is my experience with this. It wasn't my chemistry because I sprayed it on my shirt-also, be careful with spraying any DUA on your clothes because it will leave an oil stain. Ok, 'nuff said LOL, I think I made my point. This one SUCKS!!

This perfume is tricky. I bought it at one of DUA's 30% off sales recently and I felt no need to sample 1st because I love gourmands so how could I not love this perfume?! I do, I do love it but here's how it's tricky...when first applied, it smells like straight up oily buttered popcorn with some lemon juice sprinkled on top. I wasn't a fan. But then came the dry down...within about an hour, this thing was beautiful and rich. Vanillic, a tiny smidge of coconut

I hadn’t see this page before buying and wish I did. I was hoping for something similar to Akro Bake or Sweet lemon pastry but she is strong. Kyliemaws description is spot on. With that said, I have a bottle if anyone is interested in buying. Just email me.

Pleasant lemon Biscoff type cookie scent (not so much cake really). However, the butter note is downright belligerent and even dirty in the opening. Needs to settle on the skin before it can be enjoyed at all. Just okay, doesn't move mountains for me.

For a creamy dessert type scent... there’s better options. This smells a little like every note listed over movie theatre popcorn. The butter note is Too strong.
