Leather Vetiver Harmony

I am going to disagree with the first reviewer on this page. This is a fantasic leathery vetiver, earthy fragrance. Very masculine, in my opinion. It lasts and lasts.. thanks to the extrait de parfum that Dua has used here (and do for most of their offerings). This is a comforting, relaxing scent to my nose. I can see myself wearing this on a cool/cold evening out in town, out to eat, etc. 5 stars for me; I'm glad I purchased it.

I have a bottle of Bel Ami Vetiver that I enjoy. This dua clone is a bit rougher around the edges than the original. It has a bit dirtier leather in the vein of a Russian Leather somewhat like in Zworikina's Young Cossack. I actually prefer this version over the OG because of the lived-in leather vibe.

It appears that I have the dubious honor of writing the first review of this 2023 launch by The Dua Brand marketed as for men. Taurus, earth sign, that I am, I generally love most scents based on Vetiver. That is until now. I think I may have found one that my better judgement tells me throw away as far as possible. First, I have never tried Hermes Bel Ami, (I guess, quoting the description above), but I honestly cannot believe that any fragrance from a major house like Hermes would produce something quite as vile as TDB's Leather-Vetiver Harmony. I have a bottle of Jacques Fath Yatagan, and while it is an extremely strange fragrance with a decided animalic component, it's still classy and wearable in cold weather especially. The initial spray of TDB's Leather-Vetiver Harmony is assaulting, green and resinous but with THE most unbelievably off-putting smell of body odor (yes, like riding a crowded Metro subway car and having your face pressed in the pit of a hairy man, who had a long day on the job and didn't believe in deodorants or anti-perspirants). Leather? Vetiver? Yes, they're there, but I couldn't detect any of the floral components that are listed. They must be very weak. And as the dry-down begin, again, the main scent of B.O., ever lasting B.O. continues to overwhelm the vetiver and leather. All I can think is that it smells like a workman, who applied huge dose of fairly standard after-shave/cologne in the morning, then worked all day outside in the sun and heat. I don't know who would want to smell like this unless it's someone who needs to celebrate and advertise his animalic self. But perhaps some women and men would be turned on by it. Sadly for me, I did a blind-buy and regret it.
