Lokum (Turkish Delight)

This stuff is gorgeous. Perfect Turkish rose—which oddly enough didn’t make it into Fragrantica’s note list—cradled by almond nougat and powdered sugar. It’s a floral gourmand lovers dream, especially if you love rose gourmands. That said this is a powder BOMB, so if powder scares you even a little than I would suggest sampling before buying, although the biggest bottles that DUA sells are only 1 fl. ounce, in Extrait de Parfum concentration for around $35-$50 on average. And as with most other DUA’s offerings, they pack a punch, so they're we’ll worth the price—you just have to make sure you like the scent so you can snag one of their 10 ml. travel size sprays to see if you mesh with it or not. Personally I think DUA’s original creations are slept on and wildly underrated as most people tend to right them off as nothing more than a brand that makes replicas. And although they are certainly well known for their recreations of expensive, hard to find, and discontinued niche and designer perfumes; I highly recommend giving their original creations a chance, especially their gourmand offerings such as Lokum.

Someone gave me a sample of this and I had no idea what to expect. Didn't even know what "lokum" was until I met this perfume (I knew what turkish delight was, however). I sprayed it on and was blown away. It's intensely nutty in the first 15 or so minutes, but immediately the jammy rose that everyone associates with turkish delight/lokum is present. And it's delectable. Floral yet gourmand. There's a bit of a sexy element in the background too, a little dark and sultry - which makes absolutely no sense considering the notes. The notes don't make sense to me. While they're indicative of what makes up the confectionary, the perfume to me has a more alternative, perhaps even gothic quality to it, which I find can happen with certain rose fragrances. It's interesting, it's well blended, I now own a full bottle and I reach for it very often. It's very wearable too. While I wouldn't exactly recommend wearing it to the beach or during warm weather activities, I think you could wear this in any season, just depends on the occasion. Moderate projection and lasts on me for about 4-6 hours.

Good stuff! Pretty and unique, though I am seeing similarities to LDBS and Guidance. I don’t actually get a lot of pistachio, mostly orange, musk, raspberry and powdered sugar with a hint of rose. My bottle is at least 6 mos old so it has matured. (The seller put it up for sale in August.) I think this is how I wanted LDBS and all the dupes of it I’ve smelled to smell.

I haven't seen anyone say this, so maybe I just have scent memory associated with white musk and rose. When I initially sprayed the perfume, the white musk was way too strong for me, especially mixed with the rosewater note. I love rose scents - especially rosewater - and I was so excited for the turkish delight smell, but my nose was initially hit with the smell of a smoker's home. After the dry down, the powderiness and the sweetness of the scent came out a lot more, and was way more enjoyable!

I was on my search for a Turkish Delight fragrance. I spent some time in Turkey in my twenties, and being an Arabic dessert lover, I was determined to find the scent which encapsulated this. I have found it. I purchased a few other samples however I didn't initially try The Dua Lokum as it was described as having citrus top notes. I don't get this. This is as close to the delicious Turkish Delight scent as I can find. Sweet, jammy, rosewater and perfectly delectable. So happy I have found it! This is the first of their fragrances I have tried, and I am not disappointed. This is my new fave. Totally gorgeous.

This was recommended from a woman on TikTok who curated monthly scent boxes (Brittni Wig Slayer). I went through my sample in a week! It’s so nice. Its first notes are rosewater, but not an overpowering rose. More like a light fresh splash of rose. Then layered over nutty and sweet pistachio ice cream. It’s lovey. I’ve get lots of compliments when I wear it. It pairs great with tropical scents and more heavy vanillas. Great scent!
