Mojave Sand

I let mine mature in a cabinet for nearly two months. It needed it. Now, it is the soft, complex and luminous fragrance I was hoping for. Dua's take time - longer than they say, imo. I would suggest buying a season ahead with this brand.

As someone mostly anosmic to MG and who rated it as a "dislike," I really appreciate MS because the sapodilla note is tangy and distinct, the fragrance is stronger, and it's longer-lasting. Now that I can fully take-in the scent, I get the MG hype. Mine was wearable from the get-go; no maturation, maceration, mitigation, moderation... no m-tions, whatsoever.

I really wanted to love this. I like the Dua house (Crater and Cologne of Ginger Biscuit are stellar!) and I'm not opposed to dupe houses. But this one is so bad. And the odd thing is that it's not *that* far off from the original. I can totally smell the original in the Dua dupe and vice versa, but that margin of error for a rather complicated fragrance, renders Mojave Sand smelling so bad to my nose. I've learned from this experience that the ability to dupe complicated fragrances, which Mojave Ghost is, is just not there. Yet. Mojave Sand is missing the subtle sweetness in Mojave Ghost, and without that teaspoon of sweetness, it just smells like a Sharpie permanent marker and some kind of funky body odor. I also think Dua needs to learn restraint, and that sometimes less is more. If the original was a more intimate scent by design, dupe that aspect too. Mojave Ghost is not a big projecting fragrance, and when they try to make it become that, it totally changes the essence of the fragrance. I'm basing this review off of a bottle I purchased in 2022. It's possible the formula has changed and been improved.

This is not a good dupe. If you love Mojave Ghost, save your money bc you will not appreciate Mojave Sand. I agree with the previous review that there is a sharpie scent going on at the top and a hint of MG DNA in the background. I don't like this at all, not even as air freshener. If you are new to the perfume world, you may like this. If you are an experienced perfume wearer, you probably won't appreciate this.

Mojave ghost + banana? Wouldn’t really recommend
