Nur Jahan’s Elixir

I find Nur Jahan's Elixir very beautiful. I don't have a 1970s vintage Shalimar sample to compare it against, and if I did the top notes of the OG would probably have deteriorated by now anyway. This smells convincing to my nose, though--leather, vanilla, citrus, florals, and those complicated Guerlain spices. The vanilla smells especially Guerlain-ish. I did buy a bottle that was already fully matured/macerated, from a very kind Dua Diva who didn't even make a profit on the sale. I hope Dua restocks this because I think it's BUB-worthy, even if you have the real thing. I think like many vintage-inspired scents, this will register as masculine to contemporary noses, but that's only because gourmands are ascendant at the moment. They won't be forever!

I am not sure who rated this as weak, but it is anything but.. This smells so close to Shalimar but lasts longer-- Dua does Guerlain very well.

I agree with 'smile4thecamera' review below. Dua's Nur Jahan is beautifully named but poorly executed as a dupe of the legendary Shalimar. The original is a thick, glamourous golden elixir. To my nose, the anemic modern reformulations have a pungent, burnt rubber note that I just can't cope with. Nur Jahan is right in-between the original formula and the new formula. While it does not have that signature Guerlain-esque vanilla-tonka dry down, it at least manages to omit that pungent burnt tire note. It is a citrus vanilla floral with a woody/amber-y dry down. Projects and lasts very well. However, it has nothing to do with either the old formula or the modern reformulations. It stands alone as a powerful, classy, feminine floral with a retro-feel. A solid "like". 👍

i have hundreds of perfumes and I got to say I reach out for this one the most. It's so beautiful, it does smell a little bit vintage and reminds me of my grandma. dua's is out of stock and I got a bottle of Shalimar EDP and I'm so disappointed, it's far worst than the dua verison. It's missing something really important, almost like I don't get that punch at sniffing the bottle, I can't tell what's missing, maybe something floral, something citrus, but its definitely missing that magic. I'm sooooooo saddddddddd.

Nothing like Shalimar. Patchouli comes through enough to totally set it apart and it doesn’t have that deep rich feel of Shalimar. It smells like 80’s perfumes. Projects and lasts...I like it and will wear it but it’s no Shalamar.
