Oudh Nawab

This is what you wear if you’re truly an oud fan. And I mean truly. Not only is there authentic, Eastern oud, but there is a myriad of supporting notes surrounding this theme that makes it so multi-faceted, both bright and dark and moody all at once. The brighter notes would be the bergamot and labdanum while the darker notes would be the resins, the myrrh, frankincense, and patchouli. But then it gets interesting as there are spices like turmeric (a first for me in fragrances), cinnamon, and saffron along with dried fruits like dates. The turmeric is actually what’s most interesting to me, aside from the resins and oud. It’s in the top notes and it’s very different for me. Like, my nose still doesn’t quite know what to do with it other than accept that it’s part of the recipe that makes this fragrance so beautifully balanced and unusual. To articulate it more succinctly, I just learned that turmeric is in the ginger family, which makes sense as it lends a warmth that’s similar to ginger’s effect. Almost the start of an ambery vibe that’s continued later in the drydown as it hands off that note to ambergris. It’s lovely. Just lovely.

This is a dry, spicy, oud scent. I was immediately blown away by it; it’s strong, rich, complex and mystical. The opening has pepper and bergamot, giving it a little brightness but it fades away quickly and opens way for all the spices to come in and dominate completely this marvelous creation. All I can get from the heart notes is oud, myrrh and a little bit of cinnamon. In some time goes a little sweeter and then I can pick some woody, incense, patchouli and musk. Now, to be honest there’s A LOT going on in this fragrance, very complex like a said, but sadly, my nose can only pick up what I just mentioned. Performance is unbelievable! More than 12 hours on my skin and its projection is really good, you can feel Oudh Nawab all the time. I hope Oudh Nawab gets more attention and respect out there.

It could be easily men's favorite, but I love it too. It is an intense spicy woody amber perfume, with a very well balanced sweetness of dates. Such nice ideas of using unexpected ingredients he has! For example turmeric and dates ;o)
