No. 33

This is FRUITY. I've had it on for about 45 minutes (EDP strength) and I am still smelling mostly ripe mango and tart passionfruit. There are light undercurrents of creamy coconut milk and a little sandalwood, but it's like they are just barely detectable through the juicy, fruity filter. I'm not really getting any amber either (not complaining) unless it is melding with the mango and that's where the warmth and ripe juiciness is coming from. Unlike most people, I actually like that "suntan lotion" smell, so I wouldn't mind more coconut and frangipani -- I'm hoping it will show up in the late drydown. I like this scent a lot, but it's not like anything I usually wear and I think will take more time for me to adjust to it and notice the nuances. Today is warm-ish but not really sunny or hot so I'm also looking forward to trying this in July/August and on the beach. As a side note, I am trying this fragrance from the incredibly affordable ($5/EDT, $10 EDP) generously-sized (5 mL) samples I ordered from the website. The owner was extremely helpful and lovely to correspond with. The samples even come in a refillable chrome holder that looks like a travalo or lipstick, but has a glass vial inside. That alone is worth the cost, but so far, I think the juice inside is priceless. ;)

No. 33 transports its wearer immediately to an equatorial location full of sun, surf and sand. A realistic blending of tropical fruits emerges initially, with luscious scents of mango, pineapple and passion fruit. This vivid accord causes ones' mouth to salivate in anticipation of tasting their sweet pulp. Plumeria blossom contributes a slightly citrus and slightly buttery note, while orange blossom is nuanced and beguiling in its presence. A creamy and smooth undercurrent runs vertically through the entire fragrance, effectively relaying a relaxed, "island time" attitude. Coconut milk (and to a somewhat lesser degree sandalwood and vanilla) is responsible for imparting the fragrance with this casual atmosphere. Amber helps to amplify the coconut milk's effect, as well as warm the fragrance like hot sun on the skin. Any fragrance which utilizes coconut will unfortunately run the risk of smelling of suntan lotion. I believe No. 33 transcends this connotation in the way in which it was masterfully composed. Undoubtedly will cause you to check your calendar for your next island getaway. (135)

Good scent. Opens with a tropical note with mango and quickly comes more sweet with the coconut. In the drydown, arrives the wood that is a very sweet wood with the vanille. Sillage is strong and longevity is a cracy on my skin. More than 12 hours. This is the more long-lasting in all the line that I've been tried.

At first spray I initially thought this was waaaaaay too feminine. As a guy who faithfully wears Virgin Island Water as his signature scent since 2007, I can confidently say the Passion Fruit and Mango notes in "No. 33 Le Cherche Midi" are way too feminine in the beginning; however, it is certainly true-to-life. It would be very beautiful and pleasant on a woman. This review is coming from a guy who wears VIW as his signature scent (which many guys already find too feminine). The mango note in Kenzo pour Homme Night is much more masculine. I barely get any coconut in "No. 33 Le Cherche Midi;" however, I do get a smidgen of "plasticky" vanilla; however, the sweet vanilla in the dry down is sublime. This review is from my $10 sample EDP vial. The EDT version may be different. Again, this would be delicious on a female. After a few hours this develops into much more of a unisex scent and is absolutely stunning. The trick is to get through the first couple hours of "fem!" As a male, I would probably go with the EDT version if I were to purchase a full bottle.
