Desired Earth

I received all the fragrance samples from The Harmonist collection. From the samples, my two favorites were this one (Desired Earth) and Hypnotizing Fire. Desired Earth is a gorgeous amber woody fragrance with some spicy aromatic notes that make it a signature scent worthy imo. It meets all the different criteria to make it a signature scent. It is very wearable, nothing harsh or offensive, I highly recommend it.

This is a very nice powdery, pleasant smelling sent. This has very good longevity, and decent projection too. I really like this and purchased a full bottle of it. This could definitely be a signature scent, as it shouldn’t offend anyone. When you pick up a waft of the sent, it is very pleasing and uplifting. It has a very calming effect. Like aroma therapy.

This fragrance is extremely calming for me. I sampled it and immediately ordered a full bottle. Reminds me of being out in nature in the woods of New Hampshire, but without getting too 'woody' (i.e masculine). There's something so pristine and clean about this, but never becomes too sterile, it's just right.

Very similar to CC rock rose very well blended and a dumb reach for a solid scent that will always garner compliments. Not necessary uber creative in the niche world but amazing year round all occasion scent and a staple in every collection. Much cheaper than rock rose too

Smells both earthy and clean, like a forest. Slightly floral but mostly woodsy and green. Very unisex and good for the office or just general daytime wear.

This is a great woody-resiny fragrance. At spray, the most distinguishable thing about Desired Earth shows itself: a humorous top accord of bubblegum, likely some trick played by the confluence of immortelle and resin notes. This fades over the first hour, leaving a beautifully blended accord of cedar and plant resins. Performance is solid. Projection is down-the-middle moderate - assertive enough to be worth putting on while not risking choking people out by accident - and longevity is good. At 12 hours, it dries down nicely to an accord playing with the tension between vanilla sweetness and vetiver sharpness, which smells appealing and masculine to me. All told, this is a nice perfume that checks all the boxes: it smells good and of very high quality, has some enjoyable scent evolution, and lasts a whole day. These kinds of woody-resiny fragrances have a way of adapting to all seasons (if really shining in the transition seasons). I think Desired Earth is a good idea for a signature professional fragrance, particularly for someone who doesn't love fruity fragrances, or as an option for taking a break from fruity top notes. But past the bubblegum opening, Desired Earth is restrained to the point of anonymity and also quite expensive. I also personally love a good citrusy opening. As such, it doesn't threaten the bottle that fills the "year-round resiny professional signature" niche on my own shelf: New York Intense by Patricia de Nicolaï. NYI is a much more vibrant and complex creation that's full of personality and cheaper to boot. I'm still grateful to have my free sample of Desired Earth on the shelf, which I'll continue to occasionally wear for variety.

Hmm... interesting. To be honest, I was worried about having blind bought this fragrance (I got an unbelievably cheap deal) cause I hadn’t even checked what was it about, all I knew was that it was The Harmonist and since I love Hypnotizing Fire I wanted to try something else. My worries only grew stronger after reading the notes, it seemed like it was going to be heavily oriental and I usually don’t like that (too mature/hard to wear for my style), and the lack of useful reviews just made it worse too. In any case, it arrived and all my concerns were finally relieved, this is pretty nice. It is an interesting smell, it is pretty odd in the sense that it actually feels like a “normal fragrance”, something you’ve smelled before, but if asked, you could not say which fragrance. The easiest way to put it is that it smells like Irish Spring, you know those green body wash/soap bars that we’ve all tried, it’s an “out of the shower” or even barbershop type of smell combined with hints of earthiness like dirt (but not in a bad sense), making this a fragrance that’s easy to wear and completely safe all year round; interestingly, the combination of the “Irish Spring” smell + the earthy/dirt results in a nice inoffensive smell that doesn’t feel like a fragrance, but more like the natural scent of a person right after hoping out the shower. Nothing too crazy but I am happy with my purchase and it definitely is worth adding to the collection, a perfect “dumb reach” fragrance. Performance for me tho was just alright and projection mode of the same, just a “so - so”

I just bought the discovery set 10/5/2022 but this a first and half impression from the sample (not full bottle atomizer).... THIS IS NOTHING LIKE YSL Y EDP OR EDT!!!!! The opening is aromatic, fresh and beautiful. The dry down is surprisingly better than the opening. Even got a compliment from the clerk from 7/11. Probably, more, edits to this post, to come. As of now, 7.4 out of 10 or 3.85 out of 5, for my first impressions.

Aromatic juniper and shiso come through with the musk. This fragrance smells aromatic, sweetened and fresh/uplifting. This is my favorite fragrance of the entire line I have sampled.- This fragrance is well blended and balanced but the base of this fragrance is powdery which I'm not a huge fan of but Desired Earth is nice overall.

smells pretty good but quite average if i’m being honest. like some basic smell from sephora but i mean it’s done well so ill give it that.

Spicy, green and aromatic with a feminine lean.

I'm testing the Harmonist discovery set blind. I haven't looked up anything about them: names, notes, etc. Starting with the white caps, this is the second one. In the air it was delightfully fruity and floral with just the right sweetness. On my skin it was initially pear and floral with a mineral-like base. After a few minutes I get more of a black pepper and soft wet metal character, maybe with cardamon. It's clean, and a little bright and warm and fuzzy at the same time. Looking at the name and notes at the end of the day, it makes sense. The shiso seems to be the dominant note. The overall combination reminds me of many mainstream fragrances, but this is the model of what they're all trying to achieve. It seemed to reduce down to a skin scent rather quickly, but lingered for quite a while. I wouldn't expect anyone to notice you're wearing this after the first hour or so. I can't say it leans masculine, but the spicy clean vibe categorically suggests so. Generally I like it, clearly it's quality shows through, but too uniform in black pepper for me. The rather quick reduction in sillage and price point keep out of reach, and leaves a bit more to be desired.

This is truly handsome, very well-behaved, and eminently wearable, but it doesn't quite meet the high bar set by other, more viscerally evocative Harmonist fragrances. Desired Earth is syrupy and aromatic. These two elements sound like would be in either interesting or discordant tension, but they are perfectly compatible and seamlessly blended here. Juniper, shiso, and balsam are in perfect harmony, and to my nose, that's the issue. The sharp edges of its elements are sanded down to near-anonymity. If you wear this, you'll undoubtedly smell tastefully pleasant, albeit generically so. It's well-made and I enjoy it, but it simply doesn't move me, and at this price point and from this house, I want to be moved. For what it's worth, this leans masculine to my nose. It's long-lasting on my skin but the sillage is modest, and it would probably be an ok office scent.

Reviewing a sample from 2022. Desired Earth was launched in 2020. This opens with a barbershop aroma of slightly sweet tobacco from the Immortelle flower and soft smoky leather from Cade oil. This is enveloped in vanilla and spicy aromatic woods. Barely there powdery Iris. No bubblegum detected as some have mentioned. Quality- very good 3.5/5 Unisex - leans masculine Performance- very good 4/5 Overall a solid resinous/aromatic wood fragrance inspired by the strength of mountains. A bit too masculine leaning for me. 7.5/10

On me, this is a balsam-amber powder keg with a slight set of mint and violet in the top notes. It's pretty and smells like a nice option for fall and winter, like a cashmere sweater that your girlfriend/boyfriend once wore and still has their scent on it.

Underwhelming is underrated compared to other niche creations with similar notes. It would not catch your imagination or captivate olfactory senses. I would not recommend this one to women at least.

I tried Desired Earth by The Harmonist yesterday. It's a warm and sweet amber fragrance and feels really wearable. The scent is rich and smooth. It has a soft powder feeling with a hint of vanilla. The oil concentration is high, which I noticed when it left a slight oil on my wrist. It stays very close to the skin. I really love the bottle's design. After testing this fragrance, I feel I need a bottle from this house in my collection. It is a beautiful, comforting scent for anyone.

A smooth and well balanced green fragrance. It is not a vibrant green but a mature peaty green with a smokey and spicy character from the ambrette seeds and tolu balsam which reveal itself as the scent develops. I expected a dirty, earthy scent from the note breakdown and scent description of the highlands but I get a comforting and rather idealistic warmth of the forest with a subtle honeyed tobacco sweetness in the dry down. Longevity is above average.

Green and grey at the beginning, with violet leaves and synthetics reminding of something between a detergent and a forest, not as much earthy and dirty as I expected, it is anyway nicely balanced by a soft sweet and smoky guaiac wood, although not mentioned above, then patchouli, hint of honey and tobacco-effect among the persistent bottom notes. It is a pleasent modern fragrance for the day, not a monster of originality 'though. Give it a try!

Ok... this surprised me quite a bit. Three resinous notes listed up above and this opens like a designer bubblegum fragrance. I guess I was expecting something maybe a little smoky or even balsamic? But I get tonka bean/vanilla sweetness for a good bit of the life with this one. Definitely in the vein of the Code Profumo/Legend Night spectrum of mass appeal, easy grab perfumes.
