Golden Wood

Mmmm this is wonderful! This is a woodified and much more interesting version than many of the typical and popular citrus/vanilla combo fragrances. The beeswax is not prominent. I get mostly citrus-vanilla but unsweetened a little by the woodiness. Although it is a little soft wearing, it is such a sophisticated gourmand and full bottle worthy!! EDIT - reminds me a lot of Une Ete which I already own, not worth a double up in scent profile.

Opens with fresh citrus (mostly get the mandarin--it's semi-sweet and juicy and bright). That fades pretty quickly. The longer wear is beeswax, honey, and tonka. It's very appealing. Nothing offensive. Not overly sweet. Would like a little more of the wood notes, they're kind of light. I think this could be lovely layered with something more woodsy like Timber.

This is the second sample of this perfumer and I really like both! First spray is a blast of orange and a gentle back note of Tonka Bean. The orange slowly settles as the blend of the woods come forward. It's really nice. I want to sample others as I am intrigued by this brand.

A nice spicy vanilla fragrance that almost reminds me of a sweeter and simpler version of Amouage Outlands. The opening is great, with a burst of citrus at first, but it quickly dried down into a spicy, woody vanilla. You can pick up subtle hints of honey in the composition, though it’s not a particularly prominent note. The performance is phenomenal, one spray is honestly enough, similar to other fragrances from The Harmonist. It also features a lovely pressurized atomizer that distributes the fragrance very nicely. Overall, this is a safe blind buy if you enjoy sweeter fragrances. That said, it’s worth noting that it’s not the honeyed, woody, forest-like/spring scent I had imagined before purchasing it. It is more of a spicy vanilla profile with light sweetness.

Wow! I previously had bad experiences with The Harmonist fragrances but Golden Wood is changing that bad streak. Golden Wood is yummy and gently spiced. I definitely get that egg nog scent mentioned from a previous review. I smell the barley most and something reminiscent of vanilla. I am wearing this on a cold, rainy day and it fits perfectly like a cozy sweater and a cup of chai tea.

Appealing and creamy. Dries down suprisingly spicy on my skin. Bitter orange is one of my favorite citrus notes and it's here mixed with the woods. Also has a waxy feeling. Lots of mass appeal with this one, easy to wear, easy to like. I don't get the spice bomb comparison at all. Performance is solid. Scent 7.5/10 Performance 7.5/10

Cinnamon opening. It's pretty sweet and woody. I'm picking up amber too. Really nice but It's a bit too syrupy sweet and heady for me. Initially I didn't enjoy it but this fragrance is growing on me! Solid like and I'll be testing it more. nfbw. -

Creamy blend of woods and citruses. It's a pleasant mix, clean, cozy perfume.

I'm testing the Harmonist discovery box blind. I haven't looked up anything about them: names, notes, etc. Starting with the white caps, this is the first one. The opening derived a familiar fruit and floral tone that made me jog my memory for some time. I simply couldn't place it. After its initial opening (I hate to say it) there was this elegant candy corn or circus peanut element to it (Yes, I know, but I can't deny it). As it dries down a more familiar toasted almond and caramel tone settles. There is still a soft base of what might be dark greens or light woods and some florals are in the air. The overall scent after a 10 minutes is light caramel with soft musty floral seeping in. Two hours later it becomes more of a dry, verging on powdery, but mainly honey almond glow, but intimate. Looking at the name and notes now, the name makes sense, but the tangerine and leather notes don't seem especially present. The mix of other notes explains my experience. Sillage was moderate for the first hour or two but decreased more quickly as time went on. While it lingered for some time it was basically a skin scent throughout the day. It might lean feminine, but I don't find it overtly feminine. I could see it building up a scrumptious deliciousness on the skin if you indulge more than normal, but at the price point make sure your lover likes honey almond fragrances on you.

Reviewing a sample from 2024. Golden wood was launched in 2020. Opens with orange citrus and a touch of bergamot then waxy honey and dry woods. The top notes last maybe 5 minutes. The dry down is slightly spicy ?cinnamon( not listed) and dry woods. It is a successful combination but lacks depth and longevity probably due to using insufficient or average quality ingredients rather than a blending issue. Quality- average 3/5 Unisex Performance- weak 2/5 Nice orange/honey/wood scent but does not last. The dry down is generic. The note breakdown is interesting but in my opinion it needs to be of better quality to warrant the price. 5/10

It's not my personal cup of tea, though still smells good. I don't get the citrus at all, for me it's a little too oriental and smoky (incense note?) at first, but rating it neutral because it ends up being a good projecting, smooth, amber and wood, vanilla aroma with and a bit of spice. Not overly heavy but a denser cologne. Dries down to a warm smoothness that still has presence. I think it leans more masculine, though it definitely has a good amount of warmth and brightness to work with women.

Bf says bubblegum on first spray. I get a ton of sour. This is so weird like the rest of this house. Spicy, savory, metal?? Ugh.

First sniff reminded me of the sweet woody cinnamon of Romeo Gigli Homme from the 90s. That one is hard to get so I thought maybe this can be a replacement. But no, this turns kinda crunchy with the different wood mixed with the barley. The pepper makes this this smell like drying grass in the middle of a meadow in later summer. If this all sounds like a negative, it's not as i really like this. The orange makes this sweet and lively; this one has a lot going on. I have a ton of dry woody type scents including stuff from Raw Spirit, Etro and I wear Terre dHermes, but this would make a nice addition. I want a bottle.

Absolutely beautiful. I think AveParfum nailed the characterization of this fragrance as having a creamy quality, which I’m guessing could be attributed to the barley. The tonka, woods and spice are well balanced and working to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Sophisticated yet cozy, and dries down to a gorgeous vanillic sweetness whilst still retaining that creamy quality that has me repeatedly sniffing my wrist. Projection is moderate — great longevity.

My immediate thought upon application was: eggnog. I love the smell of eggnog. After several minutes it reminded me a lot of warm, sweetened milk with a hint of saffron, even though there is no saffron listed here. I also started to perceive the scent of orange which was sweet, not tangy. This is a nice option for people who like creamy wood fragrances (emphasis on creamy). I don’t necessarily get the other notes listed, but still, the scent is nice.

This is Gorgeous! a woody/spicy/ and a little sweet fragrance. I don’t wear a lot of citruses but it’s so woody here that I love it. Just like Chanel chance, a spicy wody citrus combo is perfect for the summer. The harmonist is a safe choice, Moon glory is my other favorite from this house but sadly this one doesn’t last as long as MG does. I love how the beeswax plays on this perfume making it slightly sweet but not too much. Full bottle worthy imo

Harmonist as a brand ranges from simple to sublime. This is on the simpler side of things, a conventional "bold office" blend of citrus and woody resins. It fits that brief prettily, but in a predictable way. It's softly masculine and urbanely handsome. Well-made and bland, a middle manager could do much worse than this.

Sprayed a hefty amount of this on my jacket at bloomingdale's and had some wicked massive headaches ensue. Not a bad smell although I dont detect any of the above nuances such as barley but doesnt work with my chemistry at all if I wish to remain pain free. Good silage and staying power.

A nice honeyed-woody birch fragrance. They are the two main notes I am getting, along with a creamy vanilla. Not getting the leather note at all. Very comforting and perfect for the colder months. This one lasts a long time! Worth checking out.
