Blessing Silence

More often than not, The House of Oud perfumes don't feature an oud note. But here, THoO lives up to its name. Blessing Silence is a beautifully rendered oud scent, featuring rose and amber. It is not original or highly complex, but is beautiful in its simplicity, and to me seems to remain true to how the rose-oud accord is used in Middle Eastern perfumery. I don't particularly like oud in general - it is an acquired taste (or smell!), but when used with restraint in carefully considered compositions like this one, I can truly appreciate its complex, dark, animalic, woody beauty. BS opens with a rich, ambery labdanum note that paves the way perfectly for the rich oud that follows. Animalic, salty and almost leathery, it is dark, dry and rich, yet soft and beautiful. The oud is smooth and restrained, cleaner and more palatable as a result than in other oud scents - the strong, sour, even skanky oud of Frédéric Malle The Night comes to mind. That is also a rose-oud scent, but I couldn't enjoy it, given the nature of the oud there. Patchouli emerges after a little while, giving the perfect dirtiness to the amber-accented oud while still remaining deeply pleasant. The rose note that joins it is dark and rich, yet only a small amount features, giving just a subtle floral edge to the oud. Soft spices add warmth, while sandalwood keeps the oud soft in its later stages. It stays fairly constant, remaining a soft, oud-dominant scent with hints of spicy rose until it fades to a musky, animalic skin scent. Sillage is fairly strong and longevity is long-lasting - a little goes a long way, but it is still somehow restrained. One of the best rose-oud perfumes I've encountered, BS is unisex, best worn in autumn/winter. Aptly named, it is quiet and feels somehow sacred, steeped in ancient tradition. Yet somehow it is wearable and avoids being austere. Excellent. 4.5/5.

Unctuous and rich, this first smells like thousand-dollar bills floating in oil. Then the rose and the real oud arrive - and there's a woman in an expensive black dress walking by. You long to ask her what intoxicating scent she's wearing but you're too intimidated by the fantastic wealth on display here. And then this hits you with petrol and leather as she steps outside and swings her leg over her boyfriend’s motorcycle, wafting over a bad-boy Fahrenheit take on rose and oud. This is the smell of money and flesh ... of money AS flesh. Of the tiger's gleaming pelt, quivering in the moonlight as she dreams of the grazing long-legged creatures she so desires, just laying down and offering their bellies to her, their creamy fat gliding down her jaw as they finally embrace the natural economy of the savanna. At least, that's what I smell. This is so good, it might be messing with me.

Beautiful oud/rose combo. The oud is not super skanky..very smooth and just slightly animalic. The rose is not overpowering, and is less of the metallic rose oxide that I find in so many oud/rose combos. The sandalwood, which I usually am not the biggest fan of, is perfectly blended here just enough to take the edge of the sharpness of the oud and of the rose, but not enough to turn the whole composition into a sweet creamy mess. The overall perfume is very soft, but incredibly powerful and long lasting. One of my favourite middle eastern rose/ouds. Love it.

Blessing Silence by The House of Oud is a gorgeous, powerful fragrance that gives a very "refined gentleman" feel. This reminds me a great deal of Outrecuidant by Histoires de Parfums, sharing in common the oud, patchouili, rose, and labdanum notes. Both fragrances have a subtly sweet sort of "burnt pineapple" note that I just find addicting. After a few hours, this dries down to a deeply dusty, woody, spicy scent that gives me the impression of Moab by Phlur. This has great longevity and a very little goes a long way.

This is a very nice rose/oud. I only own/have tried a few in the genre and it may be more interesting to my novice nose than to the more experienced reviewers below. However, I love it. Rose and oud dominate the fragrance to me. I don't get much of the other notes. Also, I would say this is a very safe oud fragrance for someone to wear. I would not compare it to some of the more challenging options (like Mamluk, etc.). 9/10.

This is a skanky animalic frag, and it's lovely! It's pretty much identical or a mix from Dior's Leather Oud & Oud Ispahan. I own both, and it fits RIGHT in there.. like to the point of seeming like a clone. If you don't like Leather Oud or Oud Ispahan, then stay away from this. If you love them, then check this one out! Alternative to the Dior(s). :). Good stuff. Bottle is pretty awesome soon, and the heavy cap.

Just what I was looking for but wish it had a bit more Oud and lasted longer, it dries down quickly. The labadanum is a great touch and makes this seem leathery. Very small hint of rose but it is perfect. I also feel there is almond in the drydown and it becomes rather sweet. Overall love this.

A beautiful Oud blended perfume which treads on many familiar paths but still feels fresh and radiates a beautiful mystical glow. In this instance Indonesian Oud is blended with labdanum, patchouli, sandalwood, and rose. A relatively simple composition that works in spades and oozes a beautiful resinous, woody and slightly animalic warmth. The perfume is reminiscent of ancient mosques and Sultan palaces and truly takes you on an evocative Middle Eastern magic carpet ride. Lovely blending with a pronounced sillage, projection and longevity, this is a stunning presentation. And I don't have to tell you about the gorgeous bottles from the House of Oud which you can see in the pictures. Enjoy!

Just compared with Dior Leather Oud side by side. This one starts off with a really nice dark rose-oud with just a hint of fuzzy animalics (from labdanum I assume); as it dries down the rose fades away and becomes more furry, eventually reaching a slightly muted version of Leather Oud. Get this if you want a deeper, more interesting & multi-faceted beginning (that doesn't last), or if Dior's creation is too "sexy" for you lol *People who down-voted the similarities probably never waited for the drydown (which takes less than an hr) or just are in denial...

1st impression: This is supposed to be the deepest/darkest fragrance of the collection, and it's exactly that! I really wanted something from this brand and I thought this is the one, but it becomes less and less special as it dries.. 2nd try: Immediately gets a nice dark fuzzy oud with strong rose-patchouli, and then slowly morphs into a lesser Dior Leather Oud.

I received a sample of this and I was surprised with how much I actually don't mind this one. From my experience I gotta say that Oud seems difficult to wear and hard to find fragrances that do it right. Before I started collecting, the first Oud fragrance I tried was Tom Ford's "Oud Wood" and that to me was a masterpiece. Then I came across oud fragrances from Montale and smaller niche brands and they just smelled plain damn terrible. Oud seems so cloying to me and raspy and loud and just brutal. I couldn't believe some of these fragrances, it taught me that there really are people out there who will wear something just to be different. With The House of Oud's Blessing Silence, it's actually pretty smooth, I kept smelling it, coming back for more, interested, intrigued in it's boldness. I also love what a Rose note does to oud fragrances when done right, it gives that high quality feel to it. I wouldn't buy a full bottle of this, but I definitely wouldn't mind being in a crowd of users. 6.5/10

A very animalic/oud scent. Very little sweetness and very little rose. Performance is great as it is very deep but not for me. Nowhere near comparable to the Dior masterpiece that folks compare it to IMHO.

Oh noooo, not another rose/oud fragrance. I said those exact words, back in 2014. What can I say – the wheel has not been re-invented here. If there was an ordinance for intellectual property on fragrances, Blessing Silence would have never seen the light of day, neither would have the other 200 similar compositions out there but hey, if Henry could make a flux capacitor better than Jack, then go right along, Henry... Somewhere along the lines, Jim is making a crap capacitor and selling it for 1/10 of what Henry and Jack does. Are we still talking about the fragrance industry here? Yes! Blessing Silence is no China Made variant in the oversaturated oud/rose market – it’s easily top 5 from what I’ve smelled and perhaps, top 3. It eerily smells similar to Diptyque’s Oud Palao,but there’s no astringent facets or overwhelming synthetics in BS, it’s as smooth as butter. As much as I love Oud Palao it doesn’t come close to being this smooth. The oud in Blessing Silence is quality, there’s barely any skank, but it’s bordering the brink of moldy and medicinal. Fret not, again, this is as smooth as butter. With some “higher-end” rose and oud compositions, you get this regal quality to them, Roja Dove U.A.E. comes to mind, well, Blessing Silence is more of the rugged Prince, not the king. The rose is quite apparent, but it’s not rose dominant, the sandalwood keeps it at bay. I’ve smelled many a compositions that couldn’t do just, rose/patchouli or rose/oud well and this has doses of sandalwood, patchouli, and oud with a spicy kick in the drydown. Again, this isn’t the flying car of the oud/rose genre, but I can definitely say it’s a Ferrari to a Fiat.

Fragrance -Blessing Silence The House of Oud Bottle from - 2017 He's got that dark vibe elegance vibe going on. This is all about a timeless rose-oud combo with a nice touch of slightly ambery and resinous labdanum laying on top of a deep,moderatly sweet and woody patchouli. Don't be afraid of oud.The oud isn’t loud and harsh,but nice and well-blended in the composition. The performance is great and I kinda like this one. Longevity - 9/10(9+ hours) Silage/Projection - 9/10(heavy projection and silage for the first 2-3 hours,than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent's evolution) Weather - best in autumn and winter. Age - 33+ Compliments(low-medium-high) - medium Scent - 8,5/10 Main notes according to me -oud,rose,labdanum,patchouli. The drydown is deep,dark and woody and I get some - sandalwood,spices,rose and oud. Emotions -dark vibe elegance,sophisticated,class, mysterious. Occasion -Perfect for special occasions,nights out and formal and semi-formal events. Don't blind buy this one.Try before you buy.

I'll admit that, as a bit of a fragrance newbie, I'd internalized that rose-oud is a classic pairing, but I hadn't really grasped why. Until I tried Blessing Silence, that is. Rose and oud are unquestionably front and center, but it's an unusual chance to get a rich, fully-realized rendition of both. This truly drives home how the "off" elements of oud (funky, rotten, maybe fecal) and rose (damp, maybe sweaty) are just as complimentary to one another as their more prominent resinous and floral elements are. Having experienced this combination in such a lush, balanced way, I'm eager to try it in other contexts as well. Here, the sandalwood is noticeable as a structural component, but it doesn't assert itself too strongly. That said, the intensity of the entire composition is considerable--still going strong after 12 hours and projecting well beyond reach, especially in the first 6 hours or so.

Smooth breezy brown shear curtains with amber drawings, and red roses in water. It is quite smooth, like a smoother version of "Leather Oud" by Christian Dior with that bitter saffronic oud, patchouli, and amber blend. Lapdanum, sandalwood, and rose. I don't know if it's the usual blend of common fragrances of oud-rose mix as i never been around oud for so long, but this one is quite impressive since "Leather Oud" was mostly one of the fragrances that i like from commercial brands who claims niche. This is impressive, as i kind of smell hints of dark chocolate somewhere within. Edit (3rd Jan 2017) It is medicinal and not oud to be specific, could be an European style oud with doses of lapdanum, & sandalwood. Still, it's quite similar to Leather oud by Dior.
