Fresh herbal oud 🪵🗾 CROP COLLECTIONS from @thooperfume is a limited edition yearly release with only 100% natural ingredients and each year batch is sourced from oud distilled from different spesific region. That's why the oud in the Crop collection has a unique and original scent profile. Crop 2017 is made of pure Indonesian oud oil from Borneo. The oud here is not animalic or skanky at all. It is a very tame and subtle oud mostly going to woody direction. What make this one so unique is the gourmand aniseed note of liquorice which is the main star of the fragrance. It has very soothing and cooling effect. Aniseed is used in cooking and also herbal medicine. I am very familiar with this note from my childhood because I always consume Chinese herbal medicine with aniseed for my sore throat. First time wearing this in cold weather I wasn't impressed. But after familiar with the scent profile I wear it again in the hot climate and wow it shines for me 🤎. I am immediately transported to ancient traditional Chinese drugstore I only saw in the cinema. This fragrance is very fresh, calming and also meditative. So if you familiar with or wanting a herbal take of oud soothingly for your mind and soul this is the perfect choice. #vscentorientreview

I find this fragrance to be unique which is no easy feat in a market completely saturated with Oud fragrances. The pairing of Anise/Licorice and Oud is unusual to be sure but the execution of this combination is done in an artful manner. By combining Anise/Licorice with Oud a certain "Buzzing" or camphorous element is created which, to me, is an homage to the Kyara incense grade Oud (Di Ser's Kyara specifically comes to mind). I really enjoy it and would recommend this to any Oud fan who is looking for something new.

An unusually pretty and different take on Oud, this is a beautiful woody masculine Oriental scent. The central Oud note (seems like Assam - no animalic quality) is surrounded by a strong tincture of licorice root along with notes of sandalwood, star anise and balsamic resin. The resulting juice is quite striking but will disappoint many Oud purists, because the licorice and star anise take over the show mostly. Pronounced projection and sillage and very good longevity. Fragrantica’s notes are wrong. Per Luckyscent, (the exclusive retailer) this is the note breakdown: Crop 2017 Notes Oud, licorice, sandalwood, tobacco, absinthe Now for my review. This is a very, very dry oud. No barnyard; no cheese, nothing medicinal or artificial. To me this is an oud/sandalwood combo... I don’t get licorice or tobacco at all. There is a slightly vegetal bitterness that reminds me a bit of wormwood. Really high quality no doubt. I find Memo’s Shams Oud to be very similar (2011 release) and also slightly superior to Crop 2017. This is a very limited edition release (540 bottles I think?), so if you’re into ultra exclusivity, this could be a fit. I’ll stick with Memo’s Shams Oud, but this is a very worthy entry into the more authentic smelling oud genre.

I really like this but it's not at all what I expected. Very licorice, anise and almost celery on the open. Settles like fresh cigar tobacco. A bit spicy and not very rich pungent "oud" at all.. but a very nice scent. Try before you buy on this one for sure.. especially at the price point.

The bottle does not maketh the scent. No truer words ever spoken and applied perfectly to this fragrance. After many years sampling virtually hundreds of scents, one develops a sense of what is good to the wearer, to those around and ultimately to both. Each fragrance falls into each category with a confidence and skill honed over time. Now, as for the crop 2017, what an amateur effort all around, nothing but overwrought heavy handed perfume making at an outrageous price. So, safe to say this perfume is neither of any worth to wearer nor anyone around. Quite offputting in fact with that trademark hack effort most evident in small perfume houses striving to find something, nay anything different in the hope of standing out from the crowd. Really lovely bottle it must be said , but what really is the point when the juice inside is just regrettable to ever have tested. Note : I am a oud lover and this quite frankly is an absolute shame. 2/10....and that is being nice

Yes, smells like celery on my skin. But, I like it, as I am a fan of the unusual and unique.

This is the most vile creation. It's absolutely putrid. I was excited because of the anise and licorice notes. This is a horrible smell. It gave me an immediate headache. I hate this so much.

The House of Oud? I'm not too sure about that tag. The House of cool looking bottles? I'll co-sign that name! If prominent oud is what you're looking for, this isn't the house to explore. Crap 2017, I mean Crop 2017 is another quasi oud release that got me scratching my head. Although I acknowledge this to be decent in smell, the deceit can't be ignored. Crop 2017 smells like Cicatrices 2014. This opens with a roasted licorice note that manages to out perform the meager oud ingredient. The tones here are autumnal and one would think this was blended with fresh hazelnut. The balsams work side by side with the tobacco but everything is tempered by the powdery accords. This all sounds very delightful but this composition is just too simple and it doesn't last!! Where's the enigma? Where's the charm? This is more FTC(For the Check) than it is harvested glory. Calling this a failure is in the nose of the beholder.

I've tried so many fragrances from this house and all i can reduce this to is clever marketing and pretty bottles. The whole exterior has an artistic feel to it begging to be a kind of collectible piece for the wayward perfume addict. The scent smells really mediocre to me, this is not quality oud sorry. Not worth the $250 price tag just for a few arty egg pieces

Licorice, anise oud. I loved the licorice anise BLAST at the entrance with hints of medicinal oud like note. As it calms a bit the medicinal oud conquers abit leaving the licorice and anise behind. It's more spicy than oud, and it has hints of sweetness. It's nice since i love anise & licorice.
