Dates Delight

Fragrances I love are highly evocative and I imagine them with their own setting. The House of Oud Dates Delight is a hug from your crush who just wants to be friends on an autumn afternoon. It is enticing, beautiful, intoxicating, but also full of longing, nostalgia, and fantasy. The description of this as an Oriental Vanilla fragrance rather than a gourmand, despite the key notes, is correct. Some sweetness is there, but not like comestibles or candles, though I definitely appreciate gourmands as well. I have the type of skin chemistry or texture that tends to soften fragrances in general, and this one is no exception. It becomes an addicting powdery scent on my wrist. The powdery phenomenon is quite common on my skin, but the urge to indulge in this luxurious and complex blend of subtle sweet spice is not. I do detect some dates and honey, but a bit more floral of the peony comes through for me than the votes on here would suggest. However, this may be more of a personal issue because my nose is sensitive to flowers and I typically find floral fragrances much too boisterous and irritating. I had to throw away the paper on which I sprayed a free sample of Omanluxury Flowerlush (only once!), for example. Dates Delight, in contrast, will find me inhaling the scent of my wrist several times an hour. So if the peony note gives one pause, I highly recommend a good sample of this juice before dismissing it outright or blind-buying it. This fragrance is also not super complex nor strong and should prove a versatile layering scent. Definitely plays well with others. Overall, 10/10.

Having sampled a good few perfumes from The House of Oud, I find that where this brand excels is in its creative gourmands. Dates Delight is another such scent, alongside Almond Harmony, Grape Pearls and What About Pop. I haven't come across many date-dominant perfumes, but this one is excellent. It is very reminiscent of the decadent, honeyed fruit, which I've only tasted once - on holidays in France. The dates are complemented beautifully by the rich gourmand notes, making for a comforting yet sophisticated scent. DD opens with the aforementioned dates, rich and caramelised, enhanced to perfection by the burnt cinnamon note, adding warm spice. Caramel brings it to gourmand territory, while tonka bean rounds out the soft spiciness. Honey emphasises the rich sweetness in the base, complementing the dates beautifully. The caramel persists, melding seamlessly with the vanilla and burnt sugar. A sweet amber accord emerges in the base, resinous and soft, but complementing the gourmand notes to perfection. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A feminine-leaning but potentially unisex gourmand, DD is a good-quality, easy reach in cold weather. It is well-blended, with little change as it develops. Rich, sweet and warm, it is deeply satisfying - both comforting and elegant. Who knew how well honeyed, caramelised dates could work as a perfume? 4.5/5.

It's delicious, it's delightful, it's delovely. As a sweets-and-gourmands sceptic, I still adore this beautiful scent ... it's got just enough grunt and dirt (and great heaping spoonfuls of cinnamon) to let it stay bewitching without ever cloying. This is an adult pleasure, not a kids' dessert. The pyramid above might make you think it's a sticky, syrupy, overwhelmingly rich, but no - it's terribly classy (just as well as it's also horribly expensive) and seductive. The dates, right in the middle of things and the lead of the chorus line, are certainly sticky and fudgy, but always somehow still natural enough - with notes of green and wood and life - to seem charming and real. Cinnamon and cistus add in just enough dusty, herbal notes to keep things honest. So - an unqualified love! This is what Zoologist's Camel aspires to be, I think. Surprisingly good longevity (I kept getting unexpected wafts throughout a day and kept deliberately sniffing myself to check it was as good as I thought it was - confirmed, every single time... projection's not massive, but I still got delicious puffs of distant dates as far as 9-10h in, almost unheard of on my skin) and a really rounded, solid feel to it overall. I could only ever afford this via a decant or a used partial bottle, but my good g'gosh it's gorgeous.

I cannot express in words how much I am obsessed with Dates Delight! It is so warm, soft, sweet, creamy vanilla with thick honey, cinnamon, tonka beans and coumarin. It also reminds me of Bianco Latte which I have and love. I have checked and they share some notes. But Dates Delight is the softer, warmer, nuttier, more refined, almondy version of that DNA profile. And it has dates which I think it’s what smells so divine and delicious in here. Don’t know how to describe what I experience now, it’s a scent that is so delightful. I love the fact that it is so sweet without smelling synthetic or tooth rotting sweet. It’s an addictive smelling scent, right up to my alley. I am planning on getting Dates Delight at some point. Maybe for the next fall season, this will fit like a glove during spiced latte season. Performance is the only downside of Dates Delight. It wears for about 5-6 hours with minimal silage. And it costs an arm and a leg. I bet some of the money goes into the cost of those weird looking bottles. I am not a fan of that design...

I really get the spiciness of the cinnamon and coumarin in the opening, with the sugared dates and fresh peony underneath. Leans more masculine at first, with an almost medicinal scent. Like a tiny hint of gold Listerine mouth wash, but that scent fades after a few minutes. Although this is a sweet fragrance, it never turns syrupy sweet. The date scent gets deeper, but the spice keeps it fresh, and there's a hint of powder in the drydown. A beautifully addictive fragrance. I only tested a small amount, and the projection is really great. I find myself sniffing my arm constantly, but also there's a wonderful sweet aura of it around me. I will not purchase a full bottle, but only because of the expense. If this was affordable, I would have already purchased the largest bottle. What I will do, is sit here in fragrance happiness until this scent fades. I still have three quarters of my tester left, so next time, I will slather this all over me, and spend most of the day simmering in this beautiful fragrance.

Got this for Christmas - I’ve been eyeing it for over a year and lately I was more interested in dates as a note, so finally took the plunge. First spritz was strange and so disappointing, leaning very masculine, but I persisted and got to the bottom of its complexity. One piece of advice - it needs to be over-sprayed to get to the point! On my skin it smells of amber, incense and honeyed dates - it’s actually hard to pick the notes apart. It’s sweet and smoky, and definitely not gourmand. Smells expensive (as it should!) and the more I wear it the more I like it. It’s way up there with some of my favourite perfumes, I just wish it had better longevity. I will let it macerate a tad, hoping it improves. It’s a mature, refined and elegant perfume. It’s not loud, but mysterious and dark like a stranger who catches your attention when he passes you by and you keep thinking of them through out your day...

I am new to THoO and let me tell ya.... i am IN LOVE! This house has be obssessed. When i smelled dates delight, it smelled exactly like i would dream of a niche date perfume to smell. The dates are hyper real, the sugar, vanilla and honey are the supporting actors blended to perfection. This smells real, natural, cozy, yummy, but elegant and A clean put together vibe. One of the most elegant gourmands ive put my nose on. Versatile too! Could be dressed up or down. Such an opulent feel aa cherry on top the bottle adds! The biggest thing i have to say about the house of oud is the smoothness of their scents. To me, niche has to be all abouth smoothness and a well blended high ingredient composition. Very likeable and unique take the cake. The only issue i have w this house is longevity and projection. It Would be my favorite house if these aspects were there.

On skin dates delight opens with a beautiful Smoky date note, once this starts to settle on skin dates delight becomes a cinnamon bomb which makes it very reminiscent of lattafas khamrah which I am not a big fan of, but dates delight makes the scent more smoky and sugary, not to mention that dates delight is higher quality than khamrah. On the drydown I get a creamy benzoin and a sort of sugary accord. The longevity on this frgarance is pretty average but the sillage is really where this shines, this scent projects like crazy on my skin, even with one spray one my wrist I was catching whiffs of it while I was walking throughout the day. I’m also in love with the bottles the hand painted bottles are absolutely beautiful in person. I’m in love with this scent and Im very exited to pick it up soon.

I blind bought a bottle of this in order to take advantage of a deal at So Avant Garde. They should be called Tellement Avant Garde- but that's ok. Anyway it is so strange, this fragrance is exactly how I imagined it should be- and that hardly ever happens. I have heard of others who were shocked by this smell- Moody Boo for example said as much on her channel (YT). But for me this is incredibly reminiscent or familiar I don't know which. It's really good and I am glad to have one of these crazy bottles now- now I just need an HOS one as well lol.. This fragrance reminds me possibly of something from my childhood, and when I sniff the back of my wrist (favorite fragrance spot) deeply, I can perceive a phantom oud, as the reviewer before me did!

Been wanting to try Dates Delight for a while, and while visiting the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, I see in the gift shop that they have eight different fragrances from THoO, including DD! Spray on a bit, then walk around in the summer heat, and it’s bangin! Wafts of the scent were coming up to my nose, especially as I danced during a Bollywood workout. Go back to the gift shop, get a few extra sprays for the road, and now have a full bottle. Aside from the long-winded narrative, this is a great scent: rich dates, spices from cinnamon, sultry note of amber and a hint of oud. I pulled it off in 90F heat, so this is year round fragrance for me. Cheers my fragrant friends.

How can anyone hate on this fragrance?! It’s so good. I went looking for a gift for my boyfriend and after watching so many reviews and checking the notes I decided I’ll get this, but not without trying others out and guess what, I still picked this. Immediately I smelt it, I was just wowed at how nice it was. It is so well blended that I couldn’t even pick up any notes initially. Then after an hour I could smell the dates so well. The dry down is very Amber which is why Si intense 2021 has been compared to this because it smells exactly the same at the Dry down. All in all I believe it’s a unisex scent. Very sexy date night scent. Save blind buy imo. Just love it!

What a fantastic fragrance! If you like Oajan by Parfums De Marly, I can't see how one would not like this as well. I get a slightly fruitier top but they are eerily similar while still being their own. I have just ventured into THOO and I am extremely impressed. I'm quite surprised more appreciation isn't given to this house. This will definitely be one of the first from this house I have my eye on when purchasing a full bottle. This and Neverending are simply spectacular.

First blast of sweet spicy fruit underlined by a soft powdery note that faintly turns to... fresh rubber? But in a pleasant way. Reminds me of a milder but spicier version of Kilian's Back to Black. After a minute, settles to warm sweet cozy dark-fruity. Performance seems to be doing better than others from the THOO house I've tried and I think this might be my winter fragrance. Unisex and best suited for cooler days and nights. 6+ hours later: A faint sweetness remains.

When I wear this, I feel like I should be re-enacting 50 Shades of Grey because it's so fucking sexy! It definitely screams "I smell like I need to be fucked!" and that would apply to a man or a woman wearing it. I get the same vibes wearing Musc Ravageur because they are both so appealing to the senses and evoke intimacy. Projection is decent, sillage not bad, longevity is fantastic. The biggest drawback is the price but this is definitely full bottle worthy.

This is a beautiful frag centered around the date, which is dark, rich and powdery, all at once. The real magic, is in the drydown! The balance of the sweetness with the dark dates, tonka, caramel notes, create an addictive and intoxicating blend. This is perfectly unisex, IMHO. I find it very sexy and warm and would say this is full bottle worthy if it is within your budget. 8.5/10 ❤

This is s3x in a bottle Boozy sticky sweet with a stunning kick of spice Honestly I was on the fence about blind buying this for such a long time, but I managed to get it discounted so I just went for it ! I’m so glad I bought this I feel like everyone man or woman could rock this. In fact I don’t think anyone could hate this in my opinion. Absolutely stunning fragrance.

Date skins marinating in a golden pot of honey, cinnamon, vanilla, and tonka elixir. What remains is a sticky boozy tincture that while not as sweet as the original ingredients, is still warm and inviting. Cold weather only, this is a lovely scent for the holiday season. Very strong on my skin, leaves a noticeable trail, compliment getter.

Although a sweet fragrance with dates and honey in there, this is not a cloying sweet and the tonka bean balances it for a very well done, classy fragrance. The ingredients are balnaced just right. This is not one I'd wear on the office. Great longevity and sillage and the bottle is a keeper for sure.

Honey, dates, caramel and cinnamon. Smells like you baked something sweet on a lazy autumn day. To me it smells too sweet and a bit mature, definitely not a safe blind buy. I read the reviews and thought “how could a fragrance be too sweet “ but it REALLY IS sweet. Gorgeous, but too strong for me.

At last I have finally taken the plunge and purchased a bottle. OMFG ITS AMAZING. Its asweet, spicy delight. I have lots of other fragrances with similar notes but this is so smooth without any harsh, nose stinging notes that can sometimes happen with spicy scents. Would deffo repurchase.

I can see alot of people who have rated this as more female or just female. I would def say its unisex and not female only, its a warm cozy sweet but not to sweet fragrance that works for both women and men. I get alot of compliments wearing this from both men and women.

Honeyed dark fruits, absolutely! Very cozy, rich and distinct. In heat it's almost sickening sweet, so keep it for cooler weather. For spring into summer I usually prefer Houbigant's Figuier Noir, which keeps the fruit vibes but becomes lighter and a bit minty.

Spicy cinnamon dates, soaked in honey atop a vanilla-caramel cake, and make it masculine. One of the few gourmands that I feel is fairly unisex rather than feminine leaning. It settles quite cinnamon-sugary and tobacco.

This is a nice warm scent in which the honey marries the dates and cinnamon so well. Not overtly sweet, yet mature and gourmand. Amazing longevity and great sillage. Definitely full bottle worthy.

Absolutely Stunning Christmas in a bottle Smells like syrupy fruits with holiday spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and clove) with a sweet boozy vanilla base. This is a must-have for me. *chef's kiss*

Wore this last night and received a nice compliment from my wife.

Massive ammoutns of tonka-bean and lactonic notes in the opening, some honey, hints of tobacco and the slightest hint of dates. After the opening it goes into a white-sugar type of smell, but not too much, maybe 10-20%. The fragrance is only slightly gourmand, I don't feel like I want to eat it, but it gives me this caramel ice cream vibe. If I had to compare it to Tobacco Vanille, I would say it's only like 50% similar, this is that TV type vanilla, but with creamy, milky, tonka bean notes. However the closest fragrance that I have to this is Oud Tobacco by Montale. Montale scent is more unisex and perhaps leans a bit masculine. I have to say that this just leans feminine quite a lot. It gives me similiar vibe to Black Opium by YSL. Although it's not too similiar to BO, I think that same type of person that likes BO would like wearing this for same occasions. If you are familiar with fragrance Chocolate Greedy, this is very similar. I would say that this could be a signature winter scent for a woman that likes sweet fragrances. Probably not the best choice for summer, or masculine characters.

I love dates. I love this perfume. I love sticky toffee pudding, and this smells like I'm heating and blending the chopped dates for my favorite dessert ever. In fact, layering this with Demeter's insanely realistic Sticky Toffee Pudding perfume PLUS the body oil is going to be the end of me, I'm going to die happy. Dates Delight is deep, rich, syrupy and spiced. A couple other reviewers mentioned a rich fruitcake, and that's about right. GREAT winter perfume material. Definitely unisex, but it's quite sweet. I'll be honest, as ecstatic as I am about finding a delectable date scent, I am not swayed enough to buy a full bottle yet. But it might happen, even if I don't like these bottles. After seeing other reviewers mention SL's Arabie, I'll have to revisit Arabie and see what I prefer. I tried Arabie in 2008 and remember loving the hell out of it. You just can't go wrong with dates and spice.

Unisex gourmand. The strong feminine lean suggested by the votes on this page are wrong in my opinion. Pretty nice date centric frag but so many of these smell so similar. Update 9/17/25: I just found a full bottle for a great price and bought it. But wearing it again now I have to be honest. Its a fairly unimpressive, even mediocre, date scent. In fact, the date note is subsumed underneath a generalized sweetness, manifested by almost every other note. The vanilla, benzoin, sugar, honey, cinnamon, caramel etc. - all sweet notes. There are better date scents, better Honey scents, Amber scents, Vanilla scents etc. Its difficult to detect the date note definitively. Even John Varvatos, the OG, has a more pronounced and detectable date note, not drowned out by generalized, ambient sweetness. But ts a pleasant, wearable scent. And the bottle will look great as sculpture table art.

This is lovely. Based on others' descriptions I wasn't expecting it to be as masculine as it is. Yes, there's the sweetness of something like honey drenched dates, but there's a very strong element of spice/cinnamon and something like a men's aftershave and some kind of sweet woodiness. No flowery smell comes through. As my prior sad attempts at reviews mention, I'm not good at pulling notes from scents and I don't think my skin tends to pull smells too commonly based on what I read from others. Going to give this to my bestie and her fiance and I'm sure one of them will dig it. Worth a blind buy if you like sweet, spicy, woody without being smoky, and a smidge masculine.

Got samples of Dates Delight, What about Pop & Glazed. This is the only one I really like and it's a total LOVE so far!! I'll definitely be purchasing a bottle of Dates Delight for this fall/winter. It is a really beautiful spicy in a good way scent, I'm not one that usually likes spicy fragrances but Wow💕 seems like longevity will be great too which makes it worth the price to me. My daughter & my mother both really like this scent as well! Seems like a perfect across the board wintery warm spicy Delightful scent 😍

You would think judging by the notes that this is an overly sweet scent, but it's surprisingly airy and elegant. Not overbearing at all. The notes in the background really elevate this and make it unique. Sure, it's the same scent family as Khamrah and the other date & cinnamon perfumes, but this becomes an entirely different scent profile. I wouldn't call this a gourmand, and if I would, then I would call it the most sophisticated one I've smelled.

Dates Delight is an adult sweetness, built on soft dates and light honey that never tend to be cloying. Cinnamon and amber add a creamy warmth that slowly develops on the skin, creating an intimate but noticeable trail. It is an elegant, well-rounded Middle Eastern gourmand fragrance without excess: a rich, velvety sweetness with an almost balsamic undertone that makes it sensual and very wearable. Persistent, enveloping, impeccably balanced.

There is something delicious and yet old school about this perfume. If you are a more mature reader, you might remember Estee Lauder's Cinnabar from the late 80's early 90's. Although this does not exactly smell like it, there is a touch of its vibe here with Dates Delight. I sense persimmon, cinnamon, and orange. Without question, this is a Christmas gourmand. It has a slight silage, but still, I would offer this winter scent a 7.5/10

This is a lovely fragrance, especially the dry-down. The opening to me it is a very clear smoked prunes aroma, later it really resembles 'Honey Oud' from Montale - cinnamony honey scent with tonka beans. It is warm, captivating, mature fragrance. Very elegant! EDIT: I am seeing many people comparing it to Angel's Share and I don't know why. I don't see how they are similar, very different fragrances despite similar notes.

I will not try to capture the scent in words but the impression it had on me. I am someone who dislikes gourmand fragrances. Not on myself and not on other people. I find them disgusting and cloying. I was given a sample of this from a profumoteca and I am amazed. I adore it. It is sensually grounding and inviting instead of pressurising a person with its sweetness. It is seductive and warm in a very quiet way.

This wasn’t what I was expecting to be honest. With a name like dates delight I was expecting it to be very sweet but it’s not quite that. This is a darker and sexier scent profile than the name suggests. The spices elevate it to more than a sweet vanilla scent and make it a slightly more grown up version of this type of scent - ideal for cooler evenings.

Peony note opens everything up, and as I am not a fan of florals I thought I would hate this. After a little bit more wear I fell in love. This fragrance is a complex gourmand with a powdery dry down. Not sure if I would splurge on a full bottle of this but I would definitely purchase a larger-sized decant

I didn’t expect to love this, but I do! It smells amazing! Blended beautifully. A classy extravagant perfume that makes me think of fancy places. It reminds me so much of those big scents from the 80’s. The dry down is subtle amber and vanilla with gentle sandalwood. A sexy and powerful woman wears this.

Opens with spicy, slightly smoky incense but only for a few minutes until it transforms into grandma’s bathroom. It’s strong and soapy and gets sweeter the more it dries down. Something reminiscent of dates in the air, but smelled close up I get old fashioned soap, undefined sweetness and incense sticks.

Singed cinnamon bark, Yuletide incense, and caramelized dates drizzled with spiced honey. Dry and a bit musty, but with a sticky, liquored sweetness, too. A vintage fur muff, snowy Victorian streets, leather-bound mysteries read by the fireplace on a cold December’s eve.

Really nice, but not a necessity if you already have Kilian Angel's Share - they're not exact dupes, but they have a very similar boozy apple cinnamon scent and I'm not sure anyone needs more than one of those in their collection, lol!

I can't believe there's no tobacco in it! Reminds me a lot of Diptyque's Volutes edp. Pretty mesmerizing... Sweet but not in a sickening way. I love the bottle minus the cap :D

The initial blast is simply divine! Boozy spicy sweet and RICH—not what I expected from dates! Initially my favorite from the line, but fades and becomes too soft :/
