Doux Ennui

The reviews on this perfumes are obviously made by bots or by people who have not had the chance to smell this release by THoO. I respect this house, but ultimately after smelling ALL of them, I only acquired Guilty Crush (FB worthy) and Wabisabi (5 mL sample) to my collection. I had reserved expectations for Doux Ennui because of that, but gosh let me tell you how wrong I was! This is a long lasting, ambery, cozy, jammy, a tad salty fragrance that is perfect for colder weather. It makes me think of a toasted brioche patisserie lathered with apricot jam and salter butter. It is not too sweet, thankfully not agrume forward since I do not like that, and I believe the lingering salty accord contributes a lot to balancing this fragrance. The musky, ambery base makes it last long as well. I wouldn't say it has an enormous sillage, but enough for people beside you to notice your scent. It performs well too -- I put it and my top still smelled of Doux Ennui the following days. I recommend. Don't take this low score into consideration. Sample this and hopefully you'll have a new fall/winter fragrance to add to your collection!

absolutely adore this scent! It was a blind buy because the notes sounded exactly like my vibe jammy, orangey, buttery and it totally delivers on that front. The scent profile is spot-on it genuinely smells like you’ve just had a warm, flaky croissant with fresh orange marmalade.That said, I’m really disappointed by the projection and longevity, especially considering the price. For how beautiful it smells, I just wish it lasted longer and filled the room a bit more. Still, if you want to smell like cozy breakfast-in-Paris perfection, this is it.

OMG, this perfume is magic in a bottle! I have been testing this for a few days and so far this is one of my absolute favourites now. Easy to wear, not super overwhelming with the sweetness ( as I anticipated it to be ), just the right amount. I am smelling everything in this perfume, but the marmalade note, but it still feels like a French breakfast on an autumn morning. The kind of scent that just makes you happy no matter what. :)

Oh God! all that came to my mind while seeing the notes was: A chilly beautiful autumn morning in Paris!

Upon first spritz I thought “hmm there is something familiar about this” and as it dried down I realised... this is a straight Tom Ford Bitter Peach dupe. Perhaps a bit more buttery but honestly it smells almost identical to all the perfumes that have come out to be like BP. I understand that scent really changed the game for fruity perfumes but this is just too close for comfort for me. What a shame, I wouldn’t expect a move like this from this house, I think it’s a bit tacky.

Like some other reviewers have mentioned, this is a strange one. To me, this smells sweet, maybe a little buttery, but the overall effect to my nose is that it smells waxy, like a scented candle and it's not an enjoyable scent profile to me. It's not horrible though. I would rate this as straight-faced "just ok" and not at all mass-appealing.

I have to say THOo is a huge miss for me personally. It has to be the DNA structure in itself. I find it rather repugnant. I know that is a strong word, but this fragrance house is that offputting to me. This is my most recent sample, but all of the others I've tried before have a similar smell to them. I can only assume that is the baseline dna or the identity of the brand. I hate to do this because I do consider myself a fragrance connoisseur. I hate to write a brand off entirely, but I really think I've seen enough. Does anyone else feel this way? Or is it really me? Granted I have not tried everything. The ones I have tried are so very similar! Including this one. Why is that?!? Can anyone answer this for me?

This is my first butter perfume and according to the scent notes I was excited. Not for me though. I feel like I have butter cream on my body and i feel heavy.

I was really excited at the opening of this (sweet vanilla with some apricot) but the ambery musk in the base is super gnarly, very strong and latex-y

It smells like apricot marmalade and butter in a very weird way. I don't like it, I wanted to blind buy, but thanks God I didn't. Idk what THOO is doing lately, I'm a huge fan of BonBon Pop and Guilty Crush but THIS is a NO!! Tf. Step ya cookies up, THOO!!!!!

Poux ennui. This smells like dirty baby wipes. I smell no butter at all and it has a very mature indolic undercurrent.

This is a buttery ylang with apricot marmalade. There's a warmth and a sweetness to it. Nothing is overdone though. This isn't screechy at all (like I'd imagined from the notes). It's not a loud synthetic gourmand. This is a well-done floral-gourmand - ylang ylang floral with the Apricot preserves and butter giving the gourmand elements. But not so sweet and jammy that it's tooth-aching or buttery that it reminds you of popcorn or smell cheap. When I first smelled it I wasn't so sure, but the more I smell it the more I am falling into the scent and it's enveloping me with a sort of comfort. This is interesting. I'll give it some more time and wears to really get a solid feeling for the fragrance. This is only my first wear.

This one really bummed me out. I was thrilled upon seeing the notes, and the first few reviews sounded like Doux Ennui would be right up my alley. However, upon first spray, I realized this was not the gourmand delight I was hoping for. A screechy, artificial apricot overdose mixed with the B.O. funk of ylang ylang thrown into a pot of melted (unsalted) butter. It reminds me of something my grandmother would have worn in some ways; like someone spilled their 'Classic Perfumery' into a vat of 'This Is What The Kids Want These Days, Right?'. It just feels like a fragrance that's trying too hard to be something it's not, and as a result comes across as disingenuous and inauthentic.

for me, a photorealistic leopold frambozen (raspberry) gateau. the ylang ylang, butter (!!!), salt, benzoin, vanilla, and amber are the cream filling and yellow cake. it could almost taste the crispy almond flake outside and the chewy inside of the cake when I tried it. thought the apricot, mandarin, peach, and marmalade were evocative the sweet/tart fresh raspberries on top, and sweet raspberry jam filling. gorgeous.

I love this. If you are used to the lactonic bases in chabaud or kyse you've nothing to fear from this, it is milky-based but that is in no way overpowering (at least not on me). I'm getting a powdery apricot ( a little like gucci nectar) with a similar pear-like note that is also in wabisabi... pretty and very nice for spring summer :).

This is a gourmand that smells almost identical to some fruity tart. Not in a cheap way. This fragrance truly sticks. Still, it offers a simple nostalgic childlike ambiance while allowing the wearer to maintain a distinguished and mature air about themselves.

What’s up with all the “weak” longevity and “intimate” sillage votes ?? You haven’t even tried it. What’s the beef then??? I’m excited to try this one day, this sounds so yummy. And finally a bottle design I like from them.

I tried it today. A beautiful apricot marmelade with butter and sweet flowers, on a vanilla-musk base. WONDERFUL!
