Empathy

Another fantastic delight from THOO. If you are an appreciator of the fragrance from Argos called Bacio Immortalle, this is similar to what you can expect. The difference between the two is Bacio heads toward a leathery / suede raspberry note on the drydown whereas this lovely gem goes to a beautiful airy ozonic raspberry type vibe. Both of these fragrances on my skin appear to have the same strength and projection which is a small personal bubble. I prefer Empathy over Bacio because it works better with my skin chemistry. If any of you have smelled Jul Et Mad's Stairway to Heaven...that is about the projection and airy type quality you will get. This is not an overly sweet fragrance btw. I have seen on the reviews some say it was super sweet and I would disagree. A super sweet syrupy fragrance would be Mancera's Black Vanilla. This is far from that due to its more ozonic air-like quality. Note: I am in no way trying to discredit anyone else's thoughts on what one feels is sweet, just to my nose from the many fragrances I have smelled, although sweet, this is not overly sweet and cloying like some richer and darker gourmand like fragrances are, due to its light scent profile. And I do love my gourmands btw. :)

I have to share that I agree with whoever said the scent on dry down becomes a bit like ashtray (this impression comes and goes so perhaps this depends on other circumstances like skin ph or mood?), obviously due to strong tobacco note which probably should have been a tad lighter here. This does not make me dislike this scent at all. Just a fair warning if you don’t like tobacco you might be in for a disappointment. Why I like it? I can’t really say, there’s something special about it. I keep coming back to this scent, I’m drawn to it! I adore the opening and first couple of hours, definitely pear and raspberry blossoms shine here. The scent is fruity and a bit floral but not at all sickly sweet due to tobacco, spruce and oud. I believe aforementioned combo of fruit, spruce, oud makes this scent so very interesting and, strangely, fresh. I love it, it’s not a blind buy safe scent but worth trying! Oh, forgot to add. If you’re new to oud try THOO. They do oud very well. My nose is really sensitive to it and I’m not the biggest fan of this note but Empathy has lovely oud, barely detectable but you know it’s there... magic. (I had to order a full bottle, yay!)

I love raspberries. They taste amazing and are beautiful and light. That being said, i dont often like raspberry perfumes. They just dont do it for me. The wrong facets of the scent are highlighted, to my nose, not presenting the fruit's scent at its best. I love Empathy! This is my second blind buy from this house. This is probably my favorite raspberry perfume. It is so well blended!! I love the raspberry contrasted with the spruce against the tobacco and wood. It has a little powdery lilt to it as well. I am guessing it is the blooms that almost gives it an almost raspberry zinger smell. I would say it is like a more complex, more adult version of the rasperry fragrance by Bath and Body Works or similar company.

You're crawling in the desert, dehydrated and exhausted. For a moment, you look up from the dried sand, past the scattered and twisted, dried trees, and you see a siren. She's dancing in a cool mountain forest, breathing deeply behind a mist. She's picking raspberries out in those woods, singing, and you see yourself with her. You're paralyzed as she looks in your eyes, as she puts a raspberry in her mouth and chews once, as she leans over to whisper in your ear. But, you're in the desert, and now she's in the desert, off at a distance, teasing you with her naked form and a basket of fresh raspberries, laying on those twisted, dried trees. Empathy by The House of Oud.

Sniffing this gives me butterflies. How good is this, I’m swooning. This is a fruity raspberry tobacco bomb. I never thought I’d be into tobacco but here I am. This is so dreamy and addicting. Opens up with a juicy realistic pear. I remember as a young teen walking through the streets of the old town and seeing the hipster young adults and smelling delicious tobacco in the air, that scent lingered around quite prominently and I detect it in here. This smells like a rich and international girl. This is by no means a juvenile girly fruity scent. It settles into a mossy and woody fruit infused tobacco. I will absolutely purchase a full size.

This smells like an extremely expensive raspberry shampoo, but nonetheless, 100% like a luscious raspberry shampoo and nothing else, and it's fantastic! The price is really steep but I would buy it, however I do love both raspberry and shampoo smells, and I actually used to use a raspberry scented shampoo and conditioner in high school. The bottle is wonderful and I adore the name, which is what made me try it. We could all use a little more empathy. :)

I got it for Christmas. When I tried it, I almost got sick of the smell. It was terrible. I felt nothing but smoke. I didn't use it for half a year, then I took it out in the summer. And a miracle happened! I just loved it. The smoky scent was just there to make the fruity cotton candy scent a little exciting.

Empathy is best summed up as "smoky raspberry". Sweet and synthetic, it smells more like raspberry-flavoured sweets/shampoo etc. than the fruit itself. More oriental than gourmand, it features an woody-amber base that grounds the sweet-smokiness somewhat. On paper, the notes seem discordant, but this scent actually works well - it is pleasant in a simplistic, girlish manner. It is too sweet and juvenile for my taste, however. Empathy is a raspberry scent from initial spray, very sweet and slightly syrupy. It reminds me of taking swimming lessons as a child - closely resembling a L'Oréal Kids shampoo that was popular at the local swimming pool. I get a little artemisia, vermouth-like instead of bitter and herbal, an interesting choice that complements the raspberry note perfectly. There is a subtle hint of pear that enhances the sweetness. As it develops, a soft smokiness creeps in thanks to the tobacco, providing an interesting counterpoint to the sugary raspberry. The fruitiness smells increasingly like jellybeans as it develops on my skin. The woody-amber accord that emerges as it dries down is subtle but adds a slight maturity to Empathy, grounding the sweetness somewhat and making it more "perfume-y". However, there is no oud detectable to my nose, and the shampoo resemblance never disappears. It fades to a musky, smoky-raspberry skin scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate. While it evokes childhood memories for me, Empathy is not a scent that I'd wear. Still, a youthful feminine scent with a slight (and much-needed) edge. Raspberry shampoo, made interesting by its smoky note. 3/5.

Interestingly, when wearing Empathy, I get regular wafts that remind me of chamomile tea. Furthermore, that tea aspect, combined with fruity notes, also gives me La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain vibes, even though the notes listed are not similar... I can definitely smell fruits, but had not recognized the raspberry before I looked up the notes. Once dried down, the drier notes of tobacco and wood take over, ensuring that the fragrance never goes too sweet, at least for my liking. Empathy is a fragrance for those who like fruits, but do want a more mature scent profile, and do not mind woody notes.

First blast of candied red fruit on top of something faintly woody spicy. Did I suddenly get anosmic because I went heavy with the spraying, got the first whiff, and suddenly can't smell anything at all! Fun, flirty, fruity, but gone so so fast. If it doesn't bloom on my skin then it's way overpriced for the performance I'm getting. Technically unisex but leans more feminine. I think the scent is appropriate for every occasion and weather except it's too fresh and light for night time. 6+ hours later: A faint whiff of sweet fruit remains. Too bad about the crappy performance, this was a fun scent.

Do not bash me please, but I think that this fragrance doesn't worth the price tag. I have a sample, and upon testing it I was hit by a very Lady Million-like scent... then it reminded me of an Oriflame perfume I loved as a young adolescent. It is a very lovely scent indeed, yes, but you may buy 2-3 paco rabane on the price of this...though this is mellower than that perfume.

Raspberry, benzoin, tobacco, spruce, and a hint of musk. I can't decipher the floral accord, but it's a sophisticated, candy-like raspberry, slightly sweet, floral, fruity, boozy, woody, smoky, smooth, and slightly-musky scent. Very good sillage and longevity. The ultimate mommy scent. It literally reminds me of my mom, lmao.

This is the scent of fruity berries! Immediately after that, the bitter grass of tobacco and mugwort drifted, and the atmosphere changed to an adult atmosphere at once. The notes that change from a sweet and sour scent like the moment you fall in love to a bitter taste and a smoky atmosphere are wonderful.

An airy semi-creamy effect like the result of consuming Fusen Marukawa bear bubble gum just to follow it up by placing a chewing tobacco in your mouth. It's not that much of a weirdo people are calling it out to be... it's kinda tame and cute! Or am I the one who's trippin'? hmmmm...🤔

This smells like a heavy tobacco user took a bath in oud-scented products, then sprayed some raspberry candy Bath & Body Works mist all over. Sillage and projection are non-existent, longevity is 4 hours. Fantastic concept, poor execution.

Raspberry sorbet flavor in a hashish bar. The tobacco adds a depth to the sweetness. Oud and benzoin ground it. Delicious, nostalgic and unique. I will have to keep trying before I decide on a full bottle but this is very pleasant to me.

I was expecting so much more from this one! Longevity?? Not so so... One of a kind?? not so sure about that.. Can not resist from sniffing my wrist?? definitely not true.. So, why to bother for this price?..

Testing from a freebie, strawberry-raspberry bobble gum in the beginning, which then turns fruity and finally into a cherry tobacco fragrance. Very pleasant, but maybe just a little too... cloyingly sweet.

Gave it to my wife as it was way too fruity and sweet for me.

It smells creamy and sweet like Häagen-Dazs strawberries. It's a bit like an artificial flavoring, which is a good thing. I thought it would be a little hard to wear. It's a little artificial, but that's a good thing. I think the scent of this part might be because it reminded me of the scent expressed in other brands (though I can't find the exact one). I liked the slight tobacco peeking out from there. The woodiness comes out over time, but the sweetness remains like a candy until the end. "I've read reviews that say it gives the impression of a child's scent, and I can totally understand that. I imagined little girls' toys and pink items. I think it's partly because the scent doesn't have much depth, but also because the bottle and the visuals are just so "cute". I've also seen that it reminds me of detergent, and I can understand that, as well as ice cream, which was the first thing that came to mind for me, but I think it's more of an artificial sweetness. I think this is more for people who like kawaii than feminine.

Instantly brought me back to the early 2000s, my sister with curly hair dousing her head in Frizz-Ease. That's exactly what this smells like, in a good way. It's soft and fruity, very uplifting. I don't think the note structure is representative of the scent. It's airy, feminine and fruity floral. Not a oud or tobacco forward scent at all. Edit: I wore this overnight and in the morning I found that what scent was left on my hand was a very sweet fruity oud! I still don't get a lot of tobacco though. Very lovely and unique, I wish the oud came to play a little sooner.

The raspberry in this is very dry and clean. It's pretty straightforward to me-- pleasant enough, but not quite what I expect from a niche perfume. Honestly it reminded me of Bath and Body Works body spray, and also spongebob bubble bath (if you know you know). Beautiful packaging and branding, though. I wish I liked the scent more.

Very strong and prominent raspberry jam smell from start to finish. The woody tobacco scent kicks in after it has dried and while the creamy fruitiness is really nice, the woody and almost minty tobacco is a little much for me.

the raspberry didn't really come through. scent not strong all together, but mostly a muddled tobacco.

I have to agree with the previous review that this smells “synthetic and juvenile.” The fruit notes with the tobacco accord combine to smell like a cheap, gas-station cigarillo. Think Swisher Sweet or Black & Mild. It gets more tame on the dry down, where it smells like bubble gum. I do get what people are saying about the shampoo-y quality. It’s not the fresh, clean type of shampoo, but the cloyingly sweet type you’d buy for a 6-year-old. I’m really not liking my first impression of this, but I’ll play with it a few more times. Not the worst thing I’ve ever smelled. It’s just not worth what it costs. They need to go back to the drawing board on this one. I definitely would not suggest blind buying it.

Look at those notes. Sure thing right? Nope! It's a failure. This is a fun flirty type of scent in the realms of a Victoria Secret scent. Where is the tobacco? Where is the oud? For a house to name themselves the House Of Oud I find the 2 scents that I have sampled laughable. This and the Intense Café clone or should I say inspired Grape Pearls. The notes look so great on most of their scents so I might try a few more but I am in no rush to even drop $4 on a sample from Luckyscent.

This is so strange 🤣 I’m going to wear to test but off my wrist right now it’s so strange. A very prominent tobacco with wafts of fruity shampoo... 😂 feels like you went to a casino where you couldn’t breathe from all the smoking going on and then decided to take a shower but the smell of the casino doesn’t come off your hair so you keep trying looool I really don’t want to smell like cigarettes, guy

I was in love with the branding of this - the bottle and the name HAD ME. I got a travel size as a blind buy and I'm so glad I didn't get the full size. This manifests very smokey on me...it's mostly sweet tobacco with an oudy depth. It gave me a headache, I felt suffocated. This frag had no empathy for me ^-^

I usually like raspberry but this scent is very sickly sweet. The tobacco notes are also VERY prominent when it sits on my skin, and it's closer to the smell of a wet cigarette bud than pleasant, earthy tobacco leaves. Def not a good candidate for a blind buy

I can’t pick out one single note in this fragrance. It smells rubbery and synthetic. I absolutely hated this. Raspberry is there every so slightly in the background mixed with burnt old tires. Horrid. My husband didn’t like this either.

Nauseating mix of sharp raspberry with mellow oud and bitter woody tobacco with a grape like note; slightly powdery. Not to my taste; a scrubber for me.

Fruity? Not at all. Any fruits are overshadowed by unpleasant, smokey oud. Plus it had that Golden Star Balm scent (iykyk). Totally unwearable :(

I don’t smell any fruit or raspberry. It begins and ends with smoke and wood. I’m disappointed since I got the sample for the raspberry notes.

I don’t know what it is, but this makes me feel sick. I really do not like it, I can’t put my finger on it. It makes me nauseous.

On me, it smells like my dad's after shave, combined with whatever they use to perfume malls. Cheap, cheap feeling.

I wish I smelled any raspberry. Maybe my sample was mislabeled but I only smell woody and tobacco notes.

I'm an absolute fan of raspberry/red berry scents. I'm on the hunt for the perfect fragrance with raspberry at its heart with strong supporting scents that add depth and character. House of Oud's Empathy (lovely name and bottle) sadly, falls way short. The opening is very promising with its sweet raspberry/tobacco fruitiness. Spruce then comes out with wistful-soapy-woodsiness. Yep, all the notes are there. Unfortunately, they're all too timid. Sillage is non-existent and it fades quietly away after about 3-4 hours. This has potential to be so much richer and deeper. I vote for an Intense version and suggest HOO really PUNCHES up the RASPBERRY! The current version would make a really good body lotion or hand cream, though.

This one is adictive!!! The opening is with very light pear and more of a raspberry. It's so delicious that you have a saliva and start looking around to lick anything raspberry! It's not that sweet though to marshmallow you completely, because the oud and tobacco are guarding, giving it more depth of being just the sweet girl. Towards its dry down the tobacco goes more intense, even dirty but sexy as the husky voice of the beautiful singer from the last night club... Surprise, after 12 hours ( or more) you wake up in the morning and you still feel the tobacco and the raspberry on your hair and clothes, you don't remember what exactly had happened (no headache though), but you know it feels good!

Auch. This is either a mistake in the line or then I can't image why it is out there. In general I like this house and have 3 of their fragrances, Dates Delight, Blessing Silence and Golden Hour. And I like them all and appreciate the rest of the line even if a bit less. But I find this one in total disconnect with the spirit of the house. It's a bubblegum raspbery in which I find no oud or depth or any interesting notes. I would probably buy it for a 12 years old girl but then, there are much more girly fragrances out there that I would reach before this one. Still puzzled why they came out with this fragrance.

I grew up in San Francisco going to Haight & Ashbury where all the cool punk shops, funky bars and restaurants were. I used to patron a restaurant and lounge called Kan Zaman.. it was a Turkish restaurant that had great food, hookahs and belly dancers. The hookah tobacco we used to smoke there was a strawberry flavored one... this fragrance fondly reminds me of that. Berries afloat a soft woods and light tobacco base. It’s sophisticated and sweet. Very dry and bright fruity. It’s got a soapy floaty finish. Not sharp or tart. Lovely for berry lovers. Very feminine.

Gorgeous almost green, not ripe enough raspberry. It’s not really sweet like most raspberry fragrance I find. The fragrance is also very woody but balanced enough. There is no Oud that I can smell what I was hoping for since I don’t really like Oud especially in women’s fragrances. I see how people can find it boring but its beautiful the way it is. I find it unique enough too for the reason that it’s woody and not sugary syrupy sweet. As for the age I do think its more suitable for ladies in there 20’s.

Got a sample from a friend with a few sprays left in it. The juice seemed pretty concentrated and thick, I'd imagine from sitting for a long while and the alcohol evaporating. I'm also extremely sensitive to tobacco scents and oud as they give me migraines. All that to say tobacco and oud where!? I get a lovely and soft fruity floral slightly woody soapy scent... ah ok if I try really hard I can detect the lightest hint of a fruity chewing tobacco.

A perfume that I really adore..... its beginning is sweet and fruity given by the raspberry flower and the raspberry itself immediately mixed with a hint of tobacco, the raspberry/tobacco combo is very sensual to my nose.... Its evolution is mild, it doesn't change much, its imprinting remains sweeter, less tobacco-like, slightly woody, for me a masterpiece

The opening reminds me of a fruity shampoo. As it settles down, I start to get the tobacco and an earthiness that's reminiscent of fresh dirt/earth. The combination of these facets gives it a really nice balance and makes for a beautiful fragrance that I really do like, but it's not a love to the point that I need a bottle in my collection.

I love the House of Oud and have at least three of their scents, but I'm glad I just got a sample of this. I believe, to me, it could be beautiful on my skin without the soapiness of this scent. I don't like any hints of soapiness in my fragrances but this is what is overwhelming on my skin. I think Grape Pears will always be my favorite!

Raspberry bubblegum on a tobacco base. It's quite cloying sugar bubblegum raspberry flavor with slight sourness and tobacco oud mix. Quite fruitti sour and tobacco, a blend i have sniffed before and quite unpleasant. This is my first time sniffing a frag from this house, & i hope their other fragrances aren't similar to this.
