Grape Pearls

My first sampling of The House of Oud is Grape Pearls, a 2016 release, which I figured I’d like based on the note breakdown and reception to date. As its notes suggest, it incorporates fruity touches with the eponymous grapes and blueberry, over what is a fairly dominant heart/base of rose, vanilla, and coffee. It’s sweet and enjoyable, mostly gourmand with some green and floral touches, but overall, an enjoyable foody floral experience. The coffee is not a particularly strong coffee but feels more of latte in concert with the rose and vanilla. I’d see the comparisons to Montale Intense Café but was, as always, skeptical about those comparisons, as sometimes they’re exaggerated. In this case, however, Grape Pearls is reasonably close to Intense Café. There’s a very similar rose/vanilla/coffee commonality that should be expected by anyone that tries this. Grape Pearls is sold, along with other fragrances from The House of Oud, at Luckyscent for its retail pricing of $220 for 75ml, but is currently on discount side FragranceX for $161.50, alternatively. It’s a tough sell considering that it is, in my estimation, at least 80% similar to Intense Café, which usually comes much cheaper than Grape Pearls, often under $100 for a 100ml bottle. That said, the House of Oud’s presentation, which I’ve not seen in person yet but the topheaviness I’ve marveled from afar, is more elaborate than Montale’s (or Mancera’s), if that matters, which it doesn’t much to me. Overall, though a very enjoyable fragrance and quite a neat nod to gourmand and rose lovers, though the context of the existence of Intense Café does take away some from the jubilation of wearing it. I won’t be buying it, as I already have Intense Café, but would encourage others to try it. 8 out of 10

İlkbahar ve özellikle yaz aylarında tercih ettiğim bir koku. Bu dönemlerde 5-6 saate yakın kalıcılık gösterirken, yayılım olarak ise ilk saatlerde çok tatmin edici. Ancak ardından kalıcılık süresinin sonuna kadar tene yakın bir hal alarak varlığını sürdürüyor.

A suggestion of oud is contained in here even though it's not one of the notes. Grape Pearls is like Montale Intense Cafe but much better done - the coffee is actually present here, the rose and sweetness toned down slightly. There's also a lot of blueberry to my nose, reminding me of a raspberry-mocha latte. In quality and style, this is very much like an Amouage. The sillage and longevity are colossal; while the jammy rose is something I have to suffer through in the 20-minute or so opening, the drydown is worth it as it morphs into creamy berry coffee. 10/10!

I get that this is similar to Intense Cafe, but this is gorgeous in its own way. I mean look at the bottle! Delicious grapes and a deep rose that reminds me of the rose in Oud Bouquet. I think it stands well on its own from Intense Cafe. It has a deep, sweet twist unlike any other. Definitely a gourmand! One of the coziest smells I’ve ever come across. I imagine sitting in front of a fireplace wrapped in a warm blanket, and having grape pearls on. I appreciate both!

this smells like delicious blueberry jam mixed with a cup of strong wildberry tea and I am VERY pleased with that combo. there are not enough grape perfumes in this world. i'll counter the "jammy rose" point by saying this was 80% jam, 20% rose for me. I love a lil jammy rose moment no matter what so I don't even care either way I loveee it

Wonderful to curl up with, fantastic blueberry opening. Has a very intense cafe middle, slightly bitter rose. It is June here and this is terrific.

This is basically Delox without the musk and is much better blended without the cloyingness except for the opening. They have the same jammy rose

I didn't get any coffee, only a very sweet rose

The name Grape Pearls is very fitting for this fragrance, the brand name House of Oud... Not so much. A bit confusing as there is no oud at all in this. But there are grapes, tart and winey, not like cheap grape flavoring. I always love that note, it's so underused in my opinion. The beginning is very tart, fruity and fresh with the grapes and their leaves and a clean, juicy rose. Vanilla joins in the heart, and while I wouldn't have guessed that there is a coffee note, there is something to give some depth in the background that might be coffee. Over time the vanilla becomes stronger and amber also adds more warmth, but fortunately the grapes don't vanish and the scent keeps some of its freshness. I'd say this is more of a feminine perfume. It's a fruity floral gourmand, but one for grown ups with the wine and coffee. Sweet, but not cloying. While it isn't a loud fragrance, it lasts well. I think this is lovely, but a bit expensive for me. By the way, every bottle looks different, some have way more yellow than purple and don't look too similar to the picture on this site. Update (2019): Now that I have smelled Roses Vanilla and Intense Café in the meantime, I absolutely agree that this has a similar vibe.

Grape Pearls is another arresting fragrance from The House of Oud, a brand I've found consistently impressive since I began testing a few samples. GP is a creative gourmand with a big personality, as was What About Pop. I'm not usually a gourmand lover, but the offerings from this house often win me over. GP has a dark, rich fruity opening thanks to the berry and grape notes. Grape is an interesting note, one I don't come across too often, but here it is like grape cordial, rich and almost wine-like, featuring prominently. Dark, rich rose emerges early on, making for a nice counterpoint to the fruity notes. The overall effect is quite jammy. I get a hint of coffee in there - pleasant, but feels a bit out of place. I have yet to find a perfume that features a coffee note perfectly. It becomes an amber-vanilla scent as it dries down, still with hints of rose jam. It fades to a musky, sweet amber skin scent eventually. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. A high-quality niche gourmand, GP is refreshingly creative and enjoyable throughout. Boldly feminine, this would suit autumn/winter evenings. I'm not sure I'd wear it, but much appreciation regardless. 4/5.

I grew up near the vineyards of the Finger Lakes region in NY. A few years ago I took my Midwestern husband to NY so we could explore my old stomping grounds. We hiked waterfalls, drove through the rolling hills, skipped stones on the crystal lakes, and of course ate and drank to our heart’s content. I introduced him to grape pie, grape ice cream, and we brought home beautiful bottles from various wineries. Grape Pearls reminds me of that trip. As soon as I sprayed the fragrance on my skin I was immediately reminded of grape pie and a glass of wine. Grape Pearls is a blast of slightly fermented, syrupy grape that eventually dries down to a fruity, rose vanilla. It is very similar to the gooey, rose sweetness of a Montale fragrance like Intense Cafe. Grape Pearls makes me smile but I must admit, I don’t love it enough to purchase a bottle. I feel it is too thick and overwhelming for my personal aesthetic. That said, I will enjoy every minute of my sample and the memories it conjures until it is gone.

Right after spraying, I am greeted by a jammy rose along with a substantial dose of musk and notes of oud and amber. Interestingly, Fragrantica does not list the oud note, but it is clearly recognizable throughout the drydown, and also mentioned on THOO’s website. What makes this fragrance likeable to me are the fruity and jammy rose wafts that I get in between, even some boozy aspects. Otherwise, Grape Pearls would be too dry and musky. Longevity is stellar: even after 12 hours, I can still smell it on my skin. All in all a solid, female leaning oud fragrance, but only for those who do not shy away from strong and assertive fragrances.

Gourmand lovers: This warrants a spot on your test list. I almost overlooked it in favor of Dates Delight, but found this much more appealing. It is a softly fruited vanilla. The fruit could be blackberry, grape or blueberry - it's not sharply defined. The roasted coffee bean note here is like toasted marshmallow. When I asked the hubby what he thought his first word was "comforting." Like a warm slice of blueberry pie. When I use up my bottle of Ginestst Botrytis, I'll replace it with Grape Pearls.

This is a lot like Intense Cafe by Montale or Delox by Tiziana Terenzi, both of which I enjoy. They share the same beautiful rose /coffee /sweet-vanilla composition which I enjoy, despite not being a huge fan of rose scents. How doee Grape Pearls compare to the other two? I'd say it is less coffee, slightly less depth. And more candy. Like a more candied version of the other similar scents. I enjoy it, but owning all similar scents seems a bit redundant to me. Decent longevity though.

I am enjoying this super sweet fragrance. I was hoping for a more bubblegum/cartoon expression of grape but I get a lot of fruity rose and a touch of coffee. It reminds me of Intense Cafe and on me it presents a bit of a Gentle Fluidity vibe which is exciting! However, if you own Intense Cafe this may be a duplicate in your collection. If it had a stronger grape scent it would be an easy buy for me, as I like sweet easy to wear perfumes. Unfortunately, not quite unique enough on me.

1st impression: I guess the grape is more like wine? And by "wine" I mean some kind of tart & sharp rose.. To be honest it smelled more like some kind of overdone Aoud from Montale than anything else, but wait...the actual "grape" does come out later in a creamy bubblegumy way, which is pretty good combined with the rose-oud! 2nd try: This time I smell the grape right away, yet still sharp and slightly boozy (hence the red wine), and gets creamier as time passes.

This is such a unique and delicious fragrance! The blueberry and rose combo in the opening is really captivating, and the coffee note adds a nice depth. It dries down to a warm, sweet vanilla with a hint of musk that's perfect for cooler weather.

Even though that’s a very nice smells that’s immediately a skin scent on me, plus this smells of a cheap scented candle - it even smells of paraffin to me.

A fruity, grape forward rose. Very candy-like sweetness to it, and easy to like (for me at least).

Tasty, opulent fragrance from the House of Oud. I recommend it. It's sweet, fruity and floral.

First blast of sweet cool grapes and blueberries. Fresh, fruity, wet but also very much a hairspray scent, chemical and alcoholic/ozonic. This is more like grape bubblegum than grapes in a shady vineyard. The artificial chemical note fades after a bit leaving behind a softer fruit note, still sweet and a tiny bit floral. The dry down is much nicer than the opening. On my skin, projection is negligible and I'll wait a bit to see the longevity, as always with this house. Unisex but leans a tad feminine and I'd say would be very refreshing in warm weather. Ice wine! That's what this is on my skin. A sweet Canadian dessert ice wine. For those who don't know, ice wine is made with grapes that have frozen on the vine and makes the juice more concentrated and intensely sweet. 6+ hours later: The grape scent had deepened and warmed a little bit over time but has almost completely faded away.

This is not a bad scent, let me just start with that – in fact, it’s actually quite lovely IF you don’t already have its “cousin” formulations in your collection. What I mean by this is that once it dries down its not indistinguishable from a myriad of other inoffensive soft rose oud’s on the market. It’s too similar to ML’s Out Bouquet and Rose Sheherazade by PN and many others for me to add to my collection. This makes it just “meh”, especially at it’s price-point. Why oud isn't listed is beyond me, since it's definitely there. And another thing: and where is the grape? I don't get any. If this indeed were a grape floral oud, I would totally be down to own it, because that sounds interesting. But it isn't. Another one of those times I am glad to have grabbed a decant as opposed to a blind buy.

It smells like grape BR540. Not a bad fragrance, but it really is not unique. It’s definitely not bad, or offensive, or anything like that. It smells lovely! It’s just one of the least unique fragrances I’ve sampled lately... which, to be fair, so many things have that baccarat vibe going on, and truly it is a good vibe to have!! BUT, for me, I only need one fragrance in that vein in my collection. To my nose, I’m getting a lot less grape than I expected. Also, I’ve never sampled a perfume with a grape note before, so really expected this to be super special! Disappointed. Having a hard time delegating this fragrance to a specific season, or occasion. Strikes me as perfectly unisex.

It's a maybe for me! I don't love this, and I don't not like it all together either. It's the type of fragrance for me that, once I sprayed it on my arm, I thought where is it!!? I could barely smell anything. And then as time wore on here and there, I would get grape wine...definitely grape and something liquor-esque to go w/ it. That's it!! As the days wore on, on my sweatshirt, I can still smell this where it hit my arm and it's the same grape wine. The smell is there, I only sprayed once and I think more sprays might make the smell more apparent but still - all I'm getting is grape wine.

To me this one smells like straight up grapes with some rose, I didn't get much of the other notes as the grape was just very overpowering. It has a very sweet rich wine quality which personally isn't for me. If you like deep and rich scents this one could very will be for you. I will say the lasting power on this one is quite good and it projects and last 8-12 hours on me. Would consider it more of a night out scent for fall and winter.

I want to want this, I should love this, but I am still confused. I love all things wine related so I thought - why not get a sample of this? It triggers a memory - perhaps of my grandfather's study in their old house? Slightly dusty, slightly medicinal, slightly woody. A bit of a conundrum for me

On a testing strip, this smells like a dupe for Accento Overdose from Xerjoff but less rich/syrupy. It has the same Fruity Pebbles cereal with rose scent with a slightly green quality. Clean, like a fruity floral soap. I'll report back after using this on my skin.

Strong, syrupy and persistent, well balanced, but too similar to Mancera Roses Vanille and Montale Intense cafe (minus the coffee). The grape note is synthetic, I cannot smell any coffee. Good fragrance if you don't have the aforementioned ones.

I got a chance to smell this in a decant swap . All I get is strong roses . I get the grape aspect but it’s very minimal to me I smell fruity roses , which unfortunately doesn’t wow me .

I bought just a sample from Gents. It is too raw and natural smelling for me. I would not wear this in public. I feel it is to much.

I just get rose pretty much- one note and fine but not very different from mancera / montale fragrances

This is basically Intense Cafe by Montale. Save some money and just go get Rose Gourmand at Zara.

I love Intense Café. Don't fool yourself guys. This a very good interpretation of it but the price tag does not justify it. This one is not as "loud" as the Montale but I would say it resembles it 80% at least. If a clone house such as DUA or Alexandria did this and it was priced as a clone should be then this would be a hit. Sadly this is priced at $220 for 75 ml. Double the price of the Montale and 25 ml's less.

Syrupy grape jam. Teeth achingly sweet. I grew up on vineyards and was hoping to drift into the warm scent of air in my hometown during harvest when everything smelled faintly of Concord grapes (when even the birds poop purple). This was too-sweet jam for me, without the balance of cream, or wood, or anything else as counterpoint.

Rose, cotton candy and wine. I personally do not get coffee. I was hoping for more of a fun "grape soda" type grape; but instead it's likes sweetened red wine. Nice, but not for me. Amazing longevity.

Floral vanilla, synthetic sweetness. Not offensive but not recommended. After several hours it smells like maybe just a bit more distinguished version of cheap body sprays in the $10 range

Too, too much coffee. Very reminiscent of Intense Cafe.

I got a sample of this because the gorgeous bottle and unique notes really intrigued me. Unfortunately, I can't say I'm in love. The opening is...a lot. It's a cacophonous mix of rose, coffee, blueberry and grape where every note seems to be competing with the others instead of harmonizing. The grape and berries are full and sticky-sweet where the coffee and rose are dry and almost harsh. And then...all of that just disappears, and what's left is a vanillic rose. That's it. Where the other notes went, I do not know. (Or care to know, I guess - it was better as a vanillic rose anyway.)

So I wanted to test this out for a few weeks before giving my honest opinion. Do I like the fragrance yes... but it’s not a love unfortunately. The scent itself is pretty underwhelming. It smells like a pretty floral ( not specifically rose) accompanied by a blueberry note ( a synthetic blueberry to be exact) . I detected no coffee note at all...,, which is one of the notes I was looking for. 6.5/10 for the Scent..... * I’m going to let the fragrance macerate for a month, or two; and will update my review on the scent if something changes. Now let’s talk the bottle.... I’m highly disappointed that I received a bottle of this fragrance that has the paint chipping off. The bottle alone was 50 percent of the reason why I wanted this. I’m not sure if the company is using low quality paint on the bottles, or if the paint was affected by the heat due to it being summertime while in transit. My purchase was completely authentic, and at full price so I’m greatly disappointed due to this defect. ***Due to overall experience, I am not sure if I’ll get another HOO fragrance again. For the Bottle 5/10..... ****UPDATE : the concentration level on this fragrance is still the same. The fragrance hasn’t changed much as far as depth/scent goes. It’s definitely a underwhelming fragrance to my nose, even after letting it macerate for over two months. Never again 🫠😩

When I applied this to my skin, I had to do a double take and make sure LuckyScent didn't mix up my order and give me a sample of Mancera's Roses Vanille by mistake. I came to Grape Pearls' fragrantica page and saw rose listed as a note. Only then did I start to believe that it was no mistake on LuckyScent's part. These fragrances are identical to my nose. Point blank period. But this isn't the first time I've found that Mancera/Montale fragrances are strikingly similar to other more popular scents on the market. Intense Cafe reminds me of MFK's Oud Satin Mood, Honey Aoud reminds me of Ciel de Gum, Sensual Instinct is pretty similar to BR540, and now I can say that Roses Vanille smells identical to Grape Pearls. Isn't that something lol.

If Intense Café and Noir de Noir had a baby. Coffee, rose, vanilla and blueberries are all prevalent in the start. It seems anything that touts coffee causes a stir in the community and I haven’t heard anything about this one. Well, this one is definitely as caffeinated as the aforementioned fragrances. Beyond the coffee note, I also get a dusty chocolate-y patchouli note akin to Noir de Noir, but there’s no patch listed anywhere on the web. The sweetness get turned up a notch in the heart, while the coffee fades to the back. At this stage, it becomes another fruity-amber-vanilla mash up, not too distinct or original, even for the HoO lineup. I still prefer this one to all that I’ve tried, except Blessing Silence.

This is simply gorgeous. It's a rosed/blueberried grape, finely tuned to be legitimate to the fruit, and in hands with a floral tone that gives it perfumed/scented character, maybe disguising as a delicately scented grape peel. Now this is a perfume. The coffee note? Okay, it's here if you want to (weakly, though - it brings character to the grape), but to think about that polutes the idea of the perfume: pure grape heaven. Amazing smell. I find hard to believe in reviews degrading this by calling it artificial, or worse by comparing it to other compositions - c'mon, this is really unique. Performance is good: sticks to skin for a good period of time and projects from there within reasonable distance.

This fragrance is almost a dead ringer for Delox. I definitely pick up on the coffee, rose, and vanilla ☕🌹🍦, but I can’t detect any blueberry or grapes 🍇, which is a bit confusing given all the hype. It also gives off major Mancera Roses Vanille vibes 🌹, so if you own that one, you’ve pretty much smelled this too. I blind-bought a full bottle mainly because the bottle looked stunning 😍, but honestly, I wasn’t a fan of Delox and this scent is just too similar. If you already have Delox, I’d definitely say pass on Grape Pearls—it’s not groundbreaking enough to warrant the splurge.

This will smell immediately familiar to anyone who has tried any of the Montale/Mancera roses. Big, jammy, atomic, synthetic rose, with a winey kick of grape and a bit of coffee. Smells very good but if you have Intense Cafe, Roses Vanille, Roses Greedy, Roses Musk, etc. you probably don't need this one. Do not wear if you plan to be in an enclosed space with someone. Projection and performance are, as they say, "beast mode." Intense Cafe smells quite similar but with more coffee. Gorgeous bottle.

-Similar to Montale intense cafe & Mancera Roses Vanille. -Compared to those two, this has more of a candy scent in the opening. -Dries down to a stereotypical Oud scent. (which im not a fan of) -Projection: Low-Medium. Projects well for the 1.5 hours, turns into a skin scent thereafter. -Longevity: unsure, as another fragrance I was testing the same day cancelled out this scent. -Not fbw. (-)

i love a blueberry-vanilla combo, and i’m drawn to seeet, jammy rose in fragrances. that said, i want to like this so badly! but i find the grape note synthetic, screechy, sharp, and off-putting. it interferes with the other notes enough to make me say “pass” on a full bottle.

Do I love this yes! Does it remind me of intense cafe yes however this is amazing! The main difference between the two is GP doesn’t the sting coffee note in it. Ultra sweet, ultra sexy palatable to anybody and a compliment getter! I would go for GP over intense cafe any day!
