What About Pop

Xerjoff Who? Italica, Lira, even Dama Bianca, I kept hearing about how these were all yummy gourmands. Toffee, Lemon Cake, Vanilla who wouldn't want to try them. None of these compare to this fragrance, this is the gourmand I have been looking for all my life. Someone who tries this and doesn't smell popcorn needs to take a Covid test! This has an authentic Popcorn smell, but this isn't just a Popcorn fragrance, it is a serious, beautiful Gourmand! I feared this would have that synthetic butter scent that I hate, but it absolutely does not! What about POP? starts with Buttery, Salty, Authentic Fluffy Popcorn, it is a unique smell, nothing else smells like it, layered with warm, rich Caramel. Something amazing happens with this Popcorn scent, it gives a usually heavy, thick sweetness, a light fluffy feel, even a bit airy, something almost impossible with a rich, buttery gourmand. It is AMAZING and really surprised me because I am used to gourmand being very heavy. Although the recent trend of Orange Blossom, Marshmallow, Whipped Cream scents have been trying to do just that. Unfortunately, they do not have the warm, buttery scrumptiousness that this has - they have a cool, sharp sweetness, not as inviting and way more cloying! Then, as it dries down after an hour or so, it turns into a smooth, slightly Salty Vanilla Floral with a continued under current of Popcorn. This can compete with any other Vanilla fragrance at this point! It is very long lasting - I sprayed it on my wrist 20 hours ago and I can still smell that yummy combo. The juice is blended so well, the transitions are all beautiful. The fragrance does sit a bit close to the skin, although when I sprayed it and walked into the kitchen, my husband said I smelled so yummy he wanted to eat me! What more could us women want ;) I've been on a mission to find an amazing gourmand. I thought Italica would be it, some reviewers I love called it the unicorn gourmand. But to me Italica was so boring and linear and light. I could barely smell it. What about POP? has a playful title, with an artistic, amazing Cream and Gold painted egg bottle, in a matte gold base, that feels heavy and expensive, and the egg fits perfectly in the hand. With the whimsical hand painted bottles, I think people do not take this fragrance seriously or The House of Oud as a serious perfumers. They are dead wrong. You can mix beautiful art with exquisite juice and what an amazing DUO! And their travel sizes are very reasonably priced and are in matching little bottles with the same abstract design and colors, perfect for a purse spray. So there is no reason not to give them a try!! You will be answering What about POP? OH YES... it is the BEST, MOST UNIQUE GOURMAND!!

I'm surely not alone in saying that it was the bottles that caught my attention when I first came across THoO. Opulent, distinctive and utterly beautiful, they resemble artefacts that should be on display in a gallery. Between the pleasingly weighty, ornate base and the whimsically handpainted bottle that it holds in place, THoO features the most beautiful perfume bottle design of all in my opinion. Unusually for me, the juice inside is a secondary consideration. I ordered a large selection of samples in order to choose which of these beautiful bottles I should buy. What About Pop was the first one to come to hand. It is a very pleasant, interesting gourmand, much better than the generic vanillin-heavy sugarbombs that dominate the market. Pop opens with an excellent, realistic caramel-popcorn accord. I used to love this treat as a child, but was never allowed it, so it was a "forbidden fruit" of sorts. On first sniff, this scent brought this memory back (I haven't had caramel popcorn in years!). It also reminds me of the original (and by far the best of the line) Miss Dior Chérie from 2005, an intelligently composed floral-fruity that features a popcorn note. The popcorn note here remains, becoming more salty after a little while as a nice amber accord develops in the background. I don't get any hawthorn (a native tree here in Ireland, I am quite familiar with this distinctive nectar-y white floral), but there is a softly sweet, generic white floral accord in there too. As it develops, smooth, creamy vanilla emerges, made slightly lactonic by the cream note. This enhances the amber, while taking over from the opening caramel in the sweet gourmand stakes. It seamlessly transitions to a salty, resinous amber accord as it dries down, becoming slightly animalic with woody nuances thanks to the dry vetiver. It fades to a musky amber skin scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Beautiful throughout, featuring a top-notch amber accord, Pop is one of the best gourmands I've come across in a while. I'm not typically a gourmand fan, but this one has won me over. Masterfully composed, it is a gourmand that manages to balance saltiness and sweetness perfectly. A cosy, feminine day scent for autumn/winter, it is just the right amount of sweet. THoO is off to an excellent start for me. Impressive stuff. 4.5/5.

What an absolute dream! I wasn't going to purchase but after a few trials I just had to have it. I had always been mesmerised by THOO bottles, though I didn't think that I would come to possess one at all. I work in a department store and work on a beauty counter that overlooks the bottles, so, I would always have them in plain sight. Sometimes, I would try a few out on my break, but like I said before, I just didn't think I would ever purchase one for my own collection. Along came What About Pop! She is a true gourmand, she is buttery, she is warm and yummy with a touch of class. The first spray hits you with a salty sweet waft of freshly popped popcorn and it immediately settles into a smooth butter-kissed aroma on the skin. It is pretty linear in that it doesn't change or shift much, but the sweetness makes way into something a bit more cashmeran and slightly vanillic. An overall LOVE and I would highly recommend it for people with a wicked sweet tooth. I cannot compare it to another frag, not even Paco Robanne's Pure XS for her with the popcorn note (After all, that popcorn fades into something else entirely, whereas What About Pop! anchors the popcorn note down and puts it on full blast). No regrets at all with this purchase, I feel so happy when this fragrance is on me. It makes for a blissful fall/ winter fragrance, as well as an appropriate fragrance for cold and breezy nights. Highly recommend for intimate days out with a lover or with friends - a beso or a hug will garner many compliments. Great silage and longevity.

I adore this scent!! This will be a very short review since there’s no need for imagination or interpretation with this fragrance... the scent is linear and completely straight forward... still, magnificently crafted and decadently delicious!! Salty caramel popcorn... that’s exactly what you get in What About Pop! And that’s also exactly what Cristian Calabro intended by marrying his love for food with his love for movies... a delicious salted caramel popcorn experience!!! For as long as it lasted, which unfortunately wasn’t very long, it made me crave for the actual thing... I wanted to run to the movies and get a bucket of the stuff. Sadly, performance ain’t that good... longevity is around two hours, with intimate projection throughout... it would require constant reapplying to last the whole day. I really don’t care about the poor performance... I love this juice... the only problem is the bottle, as beautiful as it is, it’s also very small... therefore, overspraying and reapplying means that I will have to buy at least a couple more... great for their sales, but very bad for my pocket... but what can I do... I’m now addicted to the stuff. I don’t see why people say this is a feminine scent... to begin with, popcorn isn’t a note associated to any gender... and second, the caramel accord is dark enough to resemble perfumes for men, such as Emporio Armani Stronger With You Absolutely or Azzaro The Most Wanted... if anything, this perfume leans slightly manly. It’s a deliciously devilish gourmand scent that I love!!

To be honest I didn't expect all that much from this, but wow! It's definitely the best popcorn fragrance I have ever smelled. In the opening it's very realistic and really smells like freshly popped, buttery popcorn. The popcorn note stays present all through the drydown, but this is not a one-note novelty scent. There is warm vanilla and caramel to support the gourmand sweetness of the scent, which is not a big surprise, but I also get lots of milky creaminess, sexy white florals and even a hint of aromatic vetiver to round it all off. It has a slightly toasty note, but doesn't cross the line to a smokey burned smell. After the first POP has cooled down this turns from a purely fun gourmand into a really beautiful, wearable perfume. In my opinion it's quite feminine due to the florals and vanilla. While I tested it I was reminded of Lancôme Lavandes Trianon, a discontinued favorite of mine, that has a similar milkiness. They don't smell the same, obviously, because What About Pop doesn't contain lavender, there is just something in it that triggered the memory in my brain. This one has a much stronger popcorn note than designer releases like Paco Rabanne Pure XS, so it stands out from the crowd. And it's so much better than the very simple Shay & Blue Salt Caramel, which also smells like popcorn, but doesn't have much more to it. I get lovely wafts from one spray on my arm and can still smell it the next day when I spray in the evening, so the performance is just as good as the scent and the pretty bottle.

I managed to score three pre-loved bottles of What About Pop at prices so good, I almost felt guilty - almost. Because honestly, this fragrance is a treat in every sense. This isn’t your typical popcorn scent. It’s not going for that buttery movie-theatre vibe. Instead, think popcorn with sophistication, a gourmand with elegance. The opening greets you with warm, airy floral popcorn that feels playful yet refined, immediately drawing you in. Soon after, a creamy caramel note swirls in: smooth, rich, and sweet without being overwhelming. It’s indulgent, but in a way that feels polished rather than sugary. Then, just as you settle into the sweetness, delicate florals like cereus and hawthorn appear, adding a soft, unisex allure that makes the composition feel balanced and intriguing. Performance? Projection and sillage are moderate high but enough to leave a subtle trail that invites compliments. It’s versatile, office-friendly, date-night ready and perfect for layering if you want to amplify the gourmand vibe. This is my first bottle from THoO and the design is stunning, luxurious and eye-catching, like a piece of art. If you can find this at a discount or second-hand, don’t hesitate. It’s a standout in my growing popcorn-and-caramel collection.

A safe blind-buy for gourmand lovers that hate overly cloying or too sweet scents. I BB'd this one and it smells exactly how I expected. The packaging and the bottle and marvellous. I see this perfume does not work the best with all skin types, but on me, I do catch the sweet and salty popcorn note, along with the whipped cream and vanilla. It keeps this profile and feels very comforting. The only downside is the poor longevity and projection, but on the other side, this may not be the perfume you use regularly and for every occasion. I see it as fragrance for myself, enjoying movies and doing my hobbies at home. For this type of use, the longevity and projection are good because in that cause you wouldn't want the scent to overwhelm the room or stay on you for the day and night. I give it 9/10, just because of the expensive price point, but I would give it 10/10 for the originality and the bottle design. You should pay attention with how you plan to use this. If you want to smell like buttery popcorn for 10 hours, roam around the city and expect compliments how you smell like popcorn, you should avoid this one. It's a GO for me, but I see others expecting something else and it would be a PASS for them, probably.

I had high expectations for this and it definitely met them😍 I was IN LOVE at first sniff! This is one of the most beautiful sophisticated gourmands in my collection. First of all the bottle, the packaging, the quality is all top tier. As for the scent, now imagine a warm buttery smooth popcorn drizzled with thick gooey caramel. Like the most high quality popcorn. Also, the popcorn here is delicious but still perfumey, it doesn’t go overly foody to the point that you smell like a movie theatre. Also, the vanilla and whipped cream give it such a fluffy and cozy vibe! 🍿🍮🍦 Even though this is a delicious gourmand, it still remains warm, deep and fluffy. You can definitely smell the ebony and benzoin. It kind of gives it a sexy incense twist to make it more sophisticated and not just another vanilla/caramel scent. I have cheirosa 71 and to me, yes they are both delicious and maybe extremely distant cousins or friends, but they are not the same. What about pop has more depth and woodiness and smells more perfumey. Overall, a BIG love from me, and if you are a fellow gourmand lover, then you will have zero regrets with this one. Ps. Only a safe blind buy for gourmand lovers!

I start the review with a sad story. I am devistated. After testing it last fall I finally bought a bottle of What about Pop. I recieved the bottle less than one week ago and yesterday I wore it for the first time. I re-applied it after work and accidentally the bottle slipped from my hands and smashed to the floor. All the juice was spilled and I was left with a broken bottle and broken heart. The web site where I ordered it said that they can give me the same discount that I got off from my first bottle but I understand that there is nothing else that they can do. The perfume itself is beautiful, buttery caramelized popcorn and in my eyes it would be perfect for colder months but it would be nice to try how the sweetness develop in a warmer climat. I will re-purchase this for sure but probably not yet. The House of Oud bottles are just stunning and these 75ml bottles are hand-painted so each of them are uniques. You can really still see some tiny brush’s hair on the surface of a bottle. You just have to be extra careful to not drop the bottle.

It's a cheerful perfume for the holiday season! You really smell the popcorn, enveloped in the creamy-milky sauce with an ambery-vanilla-vibe with vetiver in the background. I like to call it an ironic-gourmand. It's soft and cozy and totally has the gourmand mood of sitting with a cup of cocoa under a warm blanket on a cold winter evening going. Yet the brand chose a very fun way to frame the story of the perfume in their promo materials. Starting with the name - What about pop - is a geniusly toungue-in-cheek reference to popcorn, celebratory champagne bottle popping of the holiday season as well as the pop-art movement that is both commercially oriented and also extremely sarcastic. A modern fun gourmand. You'll find what you are looking for in it - be it comfort in the cold climate, delicious gourmand mood, ironic wink of an eye to the postmodern generation or hard to miss luxury for those who seek it.

I was a little bit scared about the popcorn scent mentioned in the notes. It doesn't smell popcorn. I love popcorn and I didn't smell like a such cheap food. Maybe if it was caviar, yes!.... To my skin, it is nutty. I bought it because of ambergris. I am obsessed with it. Any perfume that has ambergris in its formula, I buy it. I am lucky again because I love What about pop. A little bit salty but the right amount of sweetness to counteract and make it feminine to my nose. I have Copacabana Bronze glow oil and the scents are very similar to each other. I guess 90% close, but House of Oud is a little bit more sophisticated gentle and soft. Comparison: I agree with the reviews that compared with Sol de Janeiro brand. They are very close. To my view, they are crafted for two different styles: the lux is the House of Oud brand and the everyday version - Sol de Janeiro brand. I love both brands equally.

Very lovely fragrance with unfortunately very average performance in terms of longevity and sillage. The scent itself is quite good, very Gourmand, but not really that obvious. To me it is a salted Popcorn with a few drizzles of caramel. There is no salt in the scent notes, but yet do I smell something of salty quality. I think at this price point the performance, as mentioned above, could be better. I wish it would be even more prominent on the Popcorn note, as I find that very interesting and I am looking for a Popcorn Scent to add to my collection, without sweetness or too much caramel going on. In those regards, the fragrance was quite living up to my expectations, but as I said, it could be stronger. Overall this is a wearable Gourmand which will not be cloying or unpleasantly sweet. For me, the salt note I get is the biggest surprise.

This is gorgeous, creamy, caramel sweet, milky and salty popcorn with butter, very gourmand. However, try Coco Cabana by Sol de Janeiro for the same effect, and more projection. Considering Coco Cabana is like £16 on Amazon, I think it’s worth it. The only differences for hours is the very slight freshness in Pop from the vetiver, it does make it nicer as it takes away the slightly sickly feeling, but I don’t think it’s worth paying so much more just for that. Coco Cabana actually stays in the popcorn phase for longer, whereas Pop loses the extreme sweetness late in the drydown. Oh and the new green Sol de Janeiro is reformulated (they actually reformulated it as some people could smell a popcorn note!), so make sure to try the original coco cabana one!

I have days when I DO want to smell like buttered popcorn and vanilla/caramel. What About Pop is the most realistic popcorn smell I’ve ever experienced in perfumery, more real than buttered popcorn itself:) However it does not stay popcorn delicious, not at all. Detectable popcorn - from spray till about 1-2h...later it goes through amazing stages: whipped cream - fruity - spicy - fresh/eucalyptus - whipped cream/vanilla/butter - woody musky...I don’t know how but it changes throughout the day delightfully and lasts easily 10h with moderate projection. It’s also wonderful when mixed with fruity/florals or cherry/almond. I wore it with Empathy from THoO...What an experience! Full bottle worthy for me for sure, but try before you buy.

It’s just as I feared: I love this. I own nothing like this. I must have this. It’s everything I read about, and that I dreamed it would be. I get a salty popcorn note, with delectable butter. And then, it’s encased in that thin crunchy caramel glaze. It’s just enough to sweeten the deal, yet not entirely take over the savory parts of the composition. There’s a bit of a woodsy dry down, it must be vetiver because it’s starting to smell very similar to Vetiver & Golden Vanilla by Jo Malone, but with a yummy popcorn note that, for me, stays true throughout the entire wear. I love this fragrance so much, it kills me how much I’m gonna have to fork over for a full bottle, but I must. Time to sell that bottle of Lavendes Triannon...

Yumm, the opening is salted buttery popcorn over a campfire. That salty buttered popcorn note is very evident. It does eventually fade but oh my, it's really good while it's there. This scent is not linear, top notes burn off maybe 45 mins in, then there's a note that pushes forward and reminds me of a fluffier cozier version of BR 540 but this is not a dupe, not even close. I want to say that note is a floaty transparent cedar (maybe it's the vetiver) I'm not sure. The dry down is a cozy floaty vanilla caramel. Sillage will leave a trail. For first hour, then radiating arms length. Longevity is pretty good as well, 8-10 hrs on skin. Definitely an Oriental Vanilla of the best kind.

It smells so yummy and special. Definitely gonna buy a full bottle. It smells like popcorn but not an edible one- not a simple scent, perfect for gourmands. For me, it is happiness in the bottle and I don't mind if others don't like it P. S. I realized why I like this smell so much- it reminds me of childhood. When the top popcorn notes fade out, only Night blooming cereus and whipped cream stay. This perfume smells like that specific flowers from my childhood(I don't remember the name of) that usually smell so intense at night. Just perfect Also On my friend it opens very masculine, pure vetiver, very woodie not even a hint of caramel or butter. Definitely try it out first.

Sweet and lovely and uplifting and lovely and sweet! Have I mentioned uplifting and lovely? What a surprise especially for the hate it got from me at the initial spray. I understand it smells like popcorn but not THAT loyally. It'a perfume afterll... Nevermind that because, a few seconds later the caramel joyfully comes through as if it had played hide and seek with me. Bastard! It fooled me! Even as a snack, i love caramel but salty caramel is the deal, the thing..the real s**t. What an uplifting and playful fragrance and what a huge surprise! I'm getting a full bottle! PS: it's summer and I love it! It gives an airy swretness that I adore in (not so extremelly high) heat.

This may be my favourite perfume of all times. True perfumery art. This is the smoothest, most delicate and unique gourmand to ever be made. Smells ultra refined, cozy, yummy... like caramel creamy popcorn, like the dream concept of it. Yes, posh comes to mind, as well as fluffy comfy, neutral color sweaters. I waited years to get this, never found it as a good deal so paid full retail, and let me tell ya... its divine. The first time i smelled it i thought it was too soft and barely there, similar vibe and experience to Italica... but now i get its full depth and longevity. I wore it to the movies tonite... and it was all i hoped it would be! 10/10!

This was purchased for me by someone that knows me intimately and knows what fragrances I'm into. I was told beforehand I was going to receive it so I had time to read a bunch of the reviews. Now that i've worn it an entire day I feel safe to say that it's longevity on and to me seems eternal, but in a very sensual way. Its extremely warm lactonic/milky to me with a very gourmand vanilla (I can see how popcorn comes into play when smelling this). I do however get how it's not everyone;s cup of tea; a lot of people really couldn't appreciate it. I would FOR SURE sample this ON YOUR SKIN before purchasing it. Love it <3

For me, the star of the show is night-blooming Cereus. What about Pop opens like straight-up caramel popcorn, quite savoury, but once it dries down into the mid-notes, the magic really begins to happen and I honestly find it stunning. It reminds me slightly of the original 2002 Dior Addict (again, this is down to that gorgeous night-blooming Cereus note). A beautiful fragrance once applied to the skin reveals its full complexity. It's definitely a fall/winter scent and I think it leans more feminine, but I won't complain if I smell this on a man. Longevity is moderate to long-lasting. Silage is moderate to strong.

On my skin, this smells like those hot pink square dubble dubble gums that came with the comics in the wrappers. Or like the bubblegum lip smackers from the 90s. IYKYK I guess. Looking at the notes I don't really know where that's coming from. That being said, it's a unique scent in my large collection and I enjoy it a lot. With such an expensive price tag however, I feel the performance is lacking - sprayed generously this morning and can barely detect a scent on my wrist or clothing 6 hours later. While I enjoy the decant that I have I would likely not purchase a bottle due to the shortcomings I noted.

10/10 My signature scent...happiness in the bottle. For me it is only about Hawthorn and Cereus. IMO try it on only in very humid and hot weather...It becomes magical and magnet for compliments...literally 5 people asked me what I wear that day. A lot of people here that probably are not that good with perfumes write it is winter smell just because it is strong. In colder weather it just doesn't perform and project, it is not it. All the time I wear it when it is below 19 degrees C it gives me a headache and smells plane. Moroccan/Middle Eastern vibe.

This fragrance is so utterly unique! My friend actually asked, “Did you make popcorn?” when she walked into my house recently and honestly, that sums it up perfectly. It’s rich, gourmand, and unapologetically popcorn-forward. It truly smells like I took a bath in caramel popcorn, and I love when perfume houses actually deliver on the notes they promise. It might not be for everyonn because, as I said, it’s straight-up popcorn but it’s such a fun, distinctive scent to have in your collection. Definitely one of my favorites to show off!

This is super yummy, and so unique. The best way I can describe the scent is: you’re wearing a really fuzzy soft purple sweater that still smells like an upscale boutique, you’ve been eating movie theater popcorn, and now you’re licking some sweet buttery popcorn salt off your fingers. Also, I don’t think it’s actually in the notes (?) but I always think that I smell iris beneath the popcorn note here. Maybe I get iris confused with musk sometimes. Husband compliments this scent every time he smells it on me.

What About Pop is pretty neat. Sweet/salty caramel corn notes on top, but something in the base notes kind of crackles underneath, rather than grounding, which is honestly a cool trick. The kind of electrical buzz I enjoy from fragrances like DS & Durga’s Debaser, and Imaginary Author’s Decisions, Decisions. For its overall weirdness, I find it really wearable, almost grown up? I’d definitely recommend it to anyone with a foot in both the niche and indie perfume camps, this is kind of the best of both.

It’s an amazing and unique fragrance with great longevity and sillage. Great to use in winter because of its surrealist salted-caramel popcorn note. I fell in love at first sniff. After 15 minutes it starts to transform into smooth amber-woody frangrance. The dry down absolutely reminds me Hermes L’ambre Des Merveilles which is also fantastic amber fragrance. The only difference is LDM is linear amber but WAP has wonderful popcorn opening. Besides, one of the best bottle in entire fragrance world!

Warm, delicious, buttery, salted caramel. This is the most impressive gourmand I’ve encountered in years. I was afraid this would be too perfume-y or too juvenile, too strange, or too heavy and cloying, but it’s honestly perfect. It opens with a very deep salted gourmet caramel popcorn then the buttery, creamy smell hits and finally settles into a floral, woody, amber, vanilla with, yes plenty of vetiver and ambergris. It’s layered and not at all cloying. Perfect for winter and just delicious.

This is intoxicating! Very unisex and I would drool over a guy wearing this. But now I drool over myself. It’s a gourmand but perfumey enough to be a real perfume. It’s reminiscent of Lush’s popcorn perfume / body spray (let the good times roll) but this is more dark, and less candy like. That one leans into strawberry territory. This one leads baccarat rouge in the Drydown. That’s the only thing I don’t like about it. Not suitable for summer. Projection: moderate. Silage: moderate.

Its a blind buy and im glad it smells like how i expect it. The packaging is what drew me in. A beauty in itself. I was craving for gourmand perfume after i had Kilian Princess as sample and this ones available so i snatched it straight away. Like popcorn, caramel popcorn. As a sweet tooth i love this! Its soft and sweet. Dries down milky as time went on. Perfect for a chill moments with your girlfriends or family. It lasts long on my pajamas, could still smell it when i woke up.

The is beautiful! I made mistake and didnt appreciate this at first. Let the bottle sit for at least 4years after you get air in the bottle from spraying. Brand new - its strong and thick as hell turnt all da way up! After 4 years the bottle i gave away SMELL smooth toned down a little to where its now a woody clean perfume with edges, sweet aquatic type fresh thing but for winter. Only one spray! I gotta get another bottle!

I ordered a 10ml sample and it's such a LOVE from me! It's sweet but with a little bit of savory notes from popcorn. Literally makes me smell like a snack (and I love to smell like food). It fills the room with its smell but it's not overpowering. This scent is not really complex but who cares? It's just beautiful from the beginning to the end, with no significant changes in the smell.

Beautiful bottle. Beautiful scent. This is so unusual and unique. I don’t get popcorn like everyone else seems to, but I do get the caramel, mixed with vanilla, mixed with some floral notes and a very light and airy musk. It is not a beast but it does have a silage that creates a nice little bubble of a delicate and delicious scent all around you throughout the day.

A floral musky scent. Highlighted with salted butter. Warm but airy. It dries down with soft gentle flowers with a powder. I smelled a few fragrances with a popcorn note, but this one is more unique, it also is more realistic than most. I can't compare it to a fragrance. To me it stands alone. This is not a sweet gourmand.

Realistic salt butter lightly sweetened caramel popcorn that dries to a powdery dusty dry stale popcorn scent. Very foody, but not super sweet like todays sugary gourmands. More a kin to the sweetness of kettle corn. really like this! Nice Fall appropriate scent!

I bought a full bottle after trying a sample from Luckyscent- this is the kind of scent that I wish I could launder all my clothes in, wash my hair in, and pump through the heating/cooling system of my house. Warm, salty, sweet and addictive as hell for me.

What About Pop by The House of Oud – 9/10 Smells like caramel popcorn in the best way possible. Great performance, super cozy and delicious. The price is a bit high, but honestly, it’s an amazing gourmand and worth it if you’re into sweet scents.

I am OBSESSED with this perfume. It smells like if Moon milk (frenshe) & snow moon magic (Sorce) had a baby with a splash of caramel thrown in. It smells milky, caramely and sweet without being cloying or in your face.

Beautiful bottles but I don’t like the vibe of this brand. It’s always almost great, in this particular bottle they added something very off putting. I was expecting a true gourmand. 3/10 on the scent

Personal: 6.5/10 - It's fun, interesting, and I respect the unique popcorn note, but it's a novelty. Mass appeal: 7/10 - Sweet gourmands are usually safe, but maybe not buttered caramel popcorn. Performance: 7/10 - Good longevity with okay projection. Sticks around without being beastly. Value: 5/10 - Very expensive for what's more a fun scent than an artistic composition. Uniqueness: 8/10 - There aren't many popcorn-centered perfumes, but this one does it boldly. SCORE: 67/100 Full bottle buy? NO, it's a novelty, and an expensive one at that. Blind buy? NO, the popcorn feels remarkably polarizing. Recommend? YES, if you love gourmands and want something quite quirky. Date night? YES, fun and sweet for a casual outing. Don't overspray. Office safe? NO, not the type of gourmand you'd want to wear in a professional environment. Pros: Very unique, clear caramel popcorn smell with unique vibes. Fun. Cons: Expensive, niche pricing for something that's best viewed as a novelty rather than a wearable fragrance. It's very sweet, and the buttered popcorn accord gets covered by caramel, turning it more into a sweet, desert, caramel popcorn gourmand. It's far from bad, but it's also far from good. I could never wear it, but I think this could turn into a pretty neat sample to spray for people. I don't think I'll wear this more than once or twice on skin. Okay so I honestly get more like a butter/creamy white chocolate caramel than actual popcorn, I do get sometimes slight-- very slight -- whiffs of what would be reminiscent of popcorn but not a photo-realistic one, more like an impressionist painting of deconstructed popcorn with as little -- something else (maybe due to the Hawthorn and other accompanying notes). In my opinion, this - something else - makes it more unique and special compared to what a photorealistic gourmand of popcorn would be. Overall definitely a gourmand but a very unique -- of it's own kind-- gentle gourmand that could easily become a signature scent for some. I can see myself probably becoming infatuated with the scent if i give it some more wears, definitely pleasant on my skin. The top and middle notes seem to blend together all at the same time on my skin and last for around 3-4h which is -crazy-, like i'm still getting the butter and creamy caramel combined with the hawthorn after 3 hours --- and very slowly it mellows down to the base notes which are very nice and gentle. Overall, a big like for me, maybe im not yet in love with it but if i give it more time I just might. I would say it is kind of overpriced (as the price is crazy high :') tbh) but also that I have never smelled anything like this in the line of gourmands, so if you really love the scent, if you're willing to pay for it and need that scent in your life, the price could be justified by it's uniqueness and one of a kind experience.

[OCT 2023] (MAR 2024 UPDATE) Was once sold at Libertine Parfumerie. It's a bit like Jeux de Peau with the bakery feel but if crossed with the slightly heavier sweetness of a Solstice Scents dessert perfume. Sadly, I do not get much of the popcorn but the creamy salted caramel is absolutely delicious and one spray goes a long way. It does not exactly smell as nuanced as a salted caramel bottle used for crepes and churros, but it's definitely a delicious salted butterscotch. Satiates my sweet tooth craving for now. I spray this with a *cherry* fragrance to counteract the slight heaviness of this perfume near my neck. Specificially great with any of Tom Ford's cherry scents, and Manhattan Cherry by Flaneur (sold at Wintergarden, Brisbane.) Update: Cute! The wheat-y popcorn showed up in the drydown. Additionally, you can smell the "popcorn" wheat note better if you spray on paper blot or clothes instead of skin. There you go. House of Oud's What About Pop. [NOV. 2023] EDIT: This stuff is so strong that I prefer my old Xerjoff Lira to define me as a signature scent instead. Something about What About Pop makes me dizzy if I overspray. YMMY.

I recently ordered the 7.5ml travel spray of this, and after a few trial runs I can safely say that, on my skin, this is indistinguishable from Hypnotic Poison. I'm not getting any of the salt or butter, which is SUCH a shame. 'Butter and Salt' is actually my favorite Sidecar Donut flavor, so I was beyond ready for this. I don't know how it's possible, because looking at the note profiles between WAP (haha, that acronym has taken on a new meaning in the last few months) and HP, there appears to be very little overlap. And yet... ROOT BEER. It's all root beer, all the time over here. The thing is, I love root beer and I love Hypnotic Poison. I'm just so thankful there was an option to really give this a go for $25 (shout out to Lucky Scent!), before paying for an FB and realizing it performs identically to something I already own. ** Update ** I've been layering this with Olympea to see if I can pull more of the salt notes, and oh my lord, it's heaven. I'm still not sure I'll spring for a full bottle but if anyone else has these two perfumes in their collection, I highly recommend wearing them together, just for funsies.

This was a blast of joy to try on my skin for the first time! What About Pop really smells like caramelized popcorn wrapped in a vanilla cloud that almost becomes salty. I enjoyed it a lot, but as I tried the fragrance several times as I was considering buying it, I kind of already grew a bit tired of it. Or not tired of it, but the initial excitement settled a little. But that was just me personally! However, I never get tired of sweet gourmand chocolate fragrances... But it matches my taste in real life: I don't like to snack on popcorn all that often, but I love and eat chocolate every day. So if your palate loves popcorn, then I really think you'll find What About Pop delicious and exciting all the time! (I would say the closest match to What About Pop would be Casamorati's Lira, at least as far as I've come across, but in Lira the vanilla note is more prominent and praline-like, whereas What About Pop is sweeter with salty caramel.)

I thought about getting a sample of this and then thought not. Then I read a bunch of reviews and decided to order it for the novelty. I’m glad I did because this is a really fun scent, but also really nice in its own way. It smells like a couple decided to experiment with food play and decided to start with some buttery caramel popcorn. It’s absolutely a food scent, but sexy. There are vanilla candles, a bit of whipped cream, the slightest hint of white florals and amber, but mostly just sexy, buttery caramel popcorn. It’s surprisingly nice in my opinion, though definitely for the most hardcore gourmand lovers. Not sure that I could picture dousing myself in this and going out into the world with a straight face. I will say that it has massive staying power like most of THOO and after a few hours, it’s mostly a pleasant floral vanilla. Glad I’ve managed to check sexy popcorn off my to-smell list.

Sampling The House of Oud What About Pop, a scent inspired by popcorn, with both its salty and sweet/caramel-like aspects, and I think the scent largely captures its inspiration pretty well. It’s both sweet and salty, a satisfying gourmand that’s not too heavy, while still smelling a bit like a perfume. I sense that the buttery aspect of popcorn seems to be missing altogether, however, but there are interesting woody, resinous qualities that more or less make it a gourmand-adjacent combo featuring salty/sweet caramel corn. Overall, I like it, though, and I could easily see this fitting the bill for many gourmand fans looking for a popcorn-rich scent. Its retail pricing is $240 for the standard 75ml size, and it’s sold at boutiques like Luckyscent, from which I acquired dabber sample, and Krystal Fragrance, though it’s also available at FragranceX for $150. 7 out of 10
