Libertine

This perfume is bright, energetic, and uplifting. I get a lot of the citrus, but not in a cleaning product way some people have mentioned. It’s a mix of the pomelo juice, skin, and pith- it’s bright but not sour, slightly sweet, and just a touch more green and smooth and grounded especially as it dries down, which is also in part to, I think, the star fruit and ginger. This is a personal anecdote, but this is what this feels like to me: it’s been a long and abnormally wet, cloudy, and dreary winter, and it seems like that’s how this day is going to be, but after going out for some errands, the clouds have burned off and it’s the first sunny, beautiful sky blue day in a month. Change out the sweater for a tank top, put this on, hop in the car and ignore everything that needs to be done, and take a long drive up the coast with the windows down and good music playing. It’s that kind of feeling bottled- a lightness that you haven’t felt in a while, a sparkling citrus that reminds you of warm sun and a cool breeze.

I bought a descant sample, and I like it a lot. It is quite lemony and fresh. I wouldn't say this is like Lysol as I don't smell anything chemically astringent. It has a slightly stronger projection and longevity than some of my favorite freshies like L'eau D'issey and Versace's Eau Fraiche. I mostly use fragrance as aromatherapy for sleeping, but this might not work for that purpose. It is calming, for sure, but it lifts my mood. Thus, I feel more awake with Libertine. Perhaps this might be best for hanging out on the sofa and watching TV with a friend you find attractive. Libertine also seems more of a single-note lemon fragrance as opposed to a citrus blend. However, I'm not the best at detecting more subtle notes. I didn't perceive much in the way of late morphs or base notes except a little ginger. I will absolutely wear this many more times, and I recommend it to anyone (it's unisex, in my opinion) who likes happy, lemony, daytime scents.

This is my favorite perfume and my new signature scent. I love the smell of Pomelos so much, I buy them all the time and will obsessively smell the rind. This smells so strongly of pomelo, but I also get the ginger distinctly--which is another favorite smell of mine. It also has surprising longevity on my skin--I can smell it all day, and the bright citrus note never quite disappears, even though the base notes come through more strongly. I'm prone to migraines and heavy/strongly sweet smells can often trigger them for me, and this doesn't at all. This scent is happy, bright, and fresh.

Bright, spicy and green, this is a really fresh and uplifting scent. I love how the citrus lends an incredibly clean note throughout, even in the dry down, it’s present. And the base spices are so well-balanced and warm, crunchy and bright. I take this to be more male than unisex, and I’m not 100% sure why that is. It reminds me of something I’ve smelled before... something blue and summer-y and crisp. I’ve given this to my he/they identifying partner to wear and I’m looking forward to smelling it on him, and keeping Libertine in my sphere of smells, moving forward!

It took me some time to get used to this fragrance--the first time I wore it I described it on Facebook as smelling like the morning after someone had a booze-up in an orange grove--but now I really like it and it's in my daily rotation. I do often layer it with Na Nin's Cannabis/Opium Den, which (on me, anyway) is very sweet and rich, which tempers the astringency and almost gin-like notes I get from Libertine. I like Libertine by itself and often wear it alone in humid weather, but layering it with Cannabis/Opium Den really gives it that extra oomph.

A unique and luscious citrus hibiscus tea combination that lifts me up and just makes me happy. Spicy ginger, green star fruit... This is lovely. I wish these fragrances were cheaper as they're too expensive to get more than one, and I think that I will use Naked more often than Libertine (though neither seem to last very long).

A sharp and crisp citrus, this would be a great signature perfume for the summer! It does evoke the smell of an immunity juice shot, but its unique and smells like an actual pomelo or lemon. More unisex or masculine leaning, which is nice.

I did not like this on paper, but it's delicious on skin. The bitter citrus opening is nice, but the drydown is magical. I wish it had better projection, but the longevity is decent. Beautiful summer scent.

Unique bright airy citrus. Pomelo make this a stand out

i really like this! it’s super bright and zesty from the get go, so if you’re not into the sharpness of a citrus, this might not be for you. me, however, i want to pack this up into a stick of gum and chew it til my jaw hurts, then accidentally swallow it, and live with the shame of a citrus flavoured lump of rubber in my throat that won’t go down. specifically those flavoured trident gums. i love the opening, very much pomelo, a lil grapefruit to me, but the dry down is my fav. the citrus zest mellows out, rounded by the leafy notes, and instead the sharpness comes from a gentle ginger. only in the dry down do i smell the hibiscus a little bit, and i think its really beautiful, and compliments the otherwise ‘screechy’ notes by providing a subtly sweet, floral balance, held down by the woody ambergris base. overall, i think this is a really nice ‘tropical’ type scent for me. this would be my personal ‘vacation in a bottle’.

First of all, I have to say I do smell the similarity of this from DG Light Blue. Fresh citrus and green spicy opening with a strange hint of tea on my skin. However, while Light Blue feels like a beachside tech company from the 2000s, this one's more like a beach house: middle of the day, aircon blasting, and you're sharing the Airbnb with a group of friends including your situationship. Glad to say this does not have the cooling scent that overpowers your nostrils like most pour-hommes, the woody base carries the fresh pop front notes throughout safe and sound. Masc-ly unisex. This is what a chick with a mean bob who only goes shopping at malls would smells like. tags: fresh citrus, woody, modern.

too citrusy at first, wasn't sure i would like it but after a bit of wear it remained bright, clean and fresh. liked it so much more then, not sure i can get over the intensity of the top notes but i'd like to, as the dry down is way more inviting and fun.

I love this scent profile. I blind bought the 10 ml, but since I have Lake by Rosie Jane and Tocca Colette it feels redundant to buy again.

Bright, fresh, and spicy! It’s a good citrus for summer.

Very strong, bright, sharp, sour, citrus fragrance. It smells like someone blended up an unripe grapefruit—skin pith and all—and bottled it up. I actually liked the scent at first, thinking maybe some of the sharpness would go away in the dry down, but it never did. After about 3 hours I had to scrub it off because it started reminding me of grapefruit scented all-purpose cleaner and it was really starting to irritate my nose. Even after scrubbing it off with soap and hot water I can still smell it on my skin. Very astringent scent. Suffice it to say I am not a biggest fan of this fragrance. Weirdly enough my bf really likes it though, so I’ll be giving it to him requesting he only use it very sparingly. I think I might actually like smelling this on someone at a distance, but directly on myself is a no-go for me 3/10

I definitely liked it at first. But now I find it overall too screechy. I find that the citrus notes a bit too overpowering to my tastes. Its definitely what I feared in a perfume like with DG's Light Blue, but at least its dry down was likeable to me. I do not hate this scent per say, it smells great sometimes and then...not.. Its a hit or miss. Maybe I could layer it with something else?

It’s a very pretty & unique take on a tropical fruity scent. If you want a very bright, sunny day scent this could be it. I like the Paradiso scent from this brand a little more, the blood orange is more my fruity sort of scent.

this smells like you just peeled a bunch of grapefruits and lemons and then sniffed your fingers. slightly more masculine leaning and a little underwhelming
