Gyokuro

I got this as a birthday present from my husband. This is my first niche perfume 🥰 I love it! It is so soft, feminine, kind, gentle. You get whiffs of this for hours despite the very soft scent profile. My initial thought was sweet jasmine tea with a touch of candied lemon. There is nothing sharp about it. It turns a bit soapy after a while which gives it a fresh out of the shower feel to it. I can see this being a great everyday scent each season. It is more a daytime scent for me. Very relaxing, like when you enjoy a cup of tea near a flower market. Not a safe blind buy, you have to be into this kind of scent profile but if you are this is gonna calm you like an all-day aromatherapy session and a cup of warm jasmine tea.

This is straight up fresh green tea leaves with a hint of peach. It's so good. It's light and herbaceous and reminds of the colour green. I really enjoy the undercurrent of vetiver and crops up every now and then throughout the day. This is a solid tea scent. Great for everyday use. It's a tea scent that does lean a little bit more feminine because of the sweetness that the peach brings. But honestly I wouldn't mind smelling this on a man. It can be quite versatile. Also: 100% agree that this will remind you of Arizona Ice Tea!

Mainly a peach tea perfume. Beautiful but nothing unique. Beautiful bottle too. The black pepper opening the scent certainly wasn’t that strong but it was enough for me to sneeze. The other notes listed are more or less all there except for neroli which I was on the lookout for but couldn’t find. Edit. Wish I could say it lasted over twelve hours but now at a bit over ten hours, the scent almost can’t be smell off the sprayed spot already. At this it’s already very good for a citrus tea perfume.

As with most The Merchant of Venice perfumes, the performance just isn't there. I'm talking about 3 hours on skin and maybe 8 hours on clothes if you're lucky. It's such a shame as the scent is so pretty and I absolutely love it. Deeply rich sweet peach tea with florals, prodominantly tuberose which becomes more prominent in the dry down. Feminine-leaning. The box opens towards you and presents the bottle nicely.

To summarise, this perfume, in the dry down, smells exactly like a peach ice tea in the best possible way. The opening smells like fresh cut wet grass but it dissipates quickly and the peach makes its entrance and elevates the perfume to a very elegant and refined tea scent with a slight green nuance. An easy and enjoyable wear for day or night.

i’m a huge fan of peach as a note when it’s done correctly, but it’s rare for me to enjoy tuberose when i pick up on it. this is one of the only fragrances that i not only love in general, but genuinely enjoy the tuberose in. this is so beautiful. it’s wet, delicate and green. super pleasant, on my list to upgrade.

This is a lovely green fragrance, with a hint of fruit and flower. This is what spring in the countryside smells like on a nice spring day. I would say it is a spring/summer daytime fragrance, that is unisex. It is also a beautiful bottle. I normally do not really enjoy green fragrances, but this one is different.

My skin does not hold scent well. I've discovered Fenty Body Butter, and it helps since it's full of oils and has a super, super light non-descript floral scent. This turns to a skin scent fairly fast. The scent itself is very nice, it's a light tea scent, on par with Bulgari's Au the Vert, but this one has a nice peach note to it. I'll most likely end up wearing this in the peak of summer, when temps are 110+ and most scents would be stifling then. I would say if you're going to go for this one, I would find either a peach or tea scented body butter to wear under this and go for the large bottle because you're going to need to overspray. I have to do this with my Roja essence perfumes. Plan on going for about 20 sprays around the body. Kind of pricey to be using like a body spray, but that's the only way you'll get good payoff. I'm currently looking for a tea scented body lotion. I know Bulgari's Au the Vert whole like is done in bath and body products, as The Four Season's used to use this for their toiletries, but I heard it's been discontinued. If you're looking for a tea scent with good payoff, try Au the Vert or Tender Light by Estee Lauder. Those are my two favorite tea scents. I'm not mad about buying this, as the bottle is so lovely and I have a time and a place to wear this. This would also make a good work scent for people involved with direct patient care. For me, I get tea, peach, lotus. That's about it.

I really enjoyed the opening of Gyokuro, but the dry down wasn't great for me. The opening is a nice fruity, tea scent. but the dry down is a complete floral bomb; like a very vintage floral. Somewhat reminiscent of old school bathroom air freshener cans. My review may be biased because I tend to struggle with strong florals mixed with peach. I have to give credit where credit is due - she is magnificently blended. Unfortunalty the scent itself totally lacks for me. If you're into vintage florals & like scents like Good Girl Gone Bad, you'll probably like this. I find Gyokuro to be a more elevated and mature version of GGGB.

In the opening, it’s a lot of fruits and some flowers followed by vetiver. I get no tea. The opening makes me think of plump. Oh and that vetiver, which is not my favorite. There’s a note which makes me think of face cream. Then I get something tea-like faintly in the background, quietly trying to whisper, “hey I am a tea perfume,” but not quite getting the message across. This is mainly a fruity floral fragrance. I will try layering with Blue Tea, and maybe both will improve. Maybe the tea note will come become more prominent in warmer temperature.

"Sweet tea in the summer, cross my heart won't tell no other" I ordered a sample of this fragrance and I could smell it through the shipping box. I checked the bottle for a leak and couldn't find one. I had to store it away from the rest of my samples because all the bottles smelled like this fragrance. This is perfect for someone looking for a strong, sweet tea and floral fragrance

I'm East Asian, a tea lover, and have drank a variety of teas, and I agree with Calvini's opinion that "gyokuro" is more Chinese than Japanese. The actual scent of gyokuro tea is closer to a seaweed scent and a light, delicate green tea. It is not decorated with peaches or lotus flowers at all. When Chinese blue-and-white porcelain was exported to the world, the original peach pattern was recognized by Westerners as an onion, which appears to have been interpreted in a similar way to the "Zwiebel Muster" tableware. When Europeans make the scent of 'tea' into perfume, they often fall into the fantasy of Orientalism, and seeing such interpretations is just embarrassing. The scent itself is very delicate and shows a smooth and complete perfection, but I don't really like 'tea' marketing. It's deceptive. On my skin, watery fruit, peach and tuberose are quite dominant. This dampness creates the impression of steam (tea water) with a cloud-like texture. If Gyokuro was meant to have a scent of white flowers that resemble smooth skin, I can understand it...but I still don't like it. In any case, this is a personal impression and not an opinion on the perfection of the scent. The intention of the perfume was good, but the difference is in how one accepts it. I would like to say that this concept does not fit. If this perfume really wanted to recreate the scent of tea, it would be a type of 'Phoenix Dancong Woolong Tea', not 'Gyokuro'. Separately, the reaction from those around me when I wore this perfume was pretty good. In general, this product is well-received by those who like this brand's "my pearl", "Blue tea", and Keiko Mecheri's "peau de peche".

All I get is white florals and maybe something reminiscent of pepper-thyme tea (I never had Gyokuro), it doesn't evolve into anything else over its longevity. Leans very feminine. Great longevity.

Femine sweet peach tea, with a twist ! She's sensual, she's mysterious, she's playfull, she's captivating. Could be the classic tuberose and neroli, ( our well known sisters for female fragrances ) but there is a definitive oriental twist ! You can sense : Lotus that gives a certain freshness, whatever " exotic fruits" is ment to be, and pepper and sandalwood as your anchors ( so the tasty peach tea with flowers doesn't become too sweet ). A very well balanced fragrance, it's delicious and a great one if you like tea fragrances. Smells exactly like what you think :) But it's done with art and attention to detail, quite elevated .

Anyone who has actually tried the real japanese tea called Gyokuro, would be blown away by it's presence in this fragrance. Lovely ice tea peachyness is what hits the nose first but inhale deeper and you will find yourself sipping your favourite cup of Gyokuro. Hope this inspires people who have said they can't smell the tea note to go to a nice japanese tea house and try this stuff. Yes it's pricey as the tea plant gets shaded a couple of weeks before picking, which gives it it's distinct vibrant green colour, aroma and taste. Considered one of the absolute highest if not THE highest quality of green teas out there!

Gyokuro by The Merchant of Venice remains one of the most elegant and tranquil fragrances in my collection—an escape in a bottle, where green tea, serenity, and quiet luxury meet. Some fragrances don’t disappear; they simply wait for the right moment to be rediscovered. Time to renew my bond with Gyokuro. 🍵🌿

Gyokuro smells like candied grass when first spray then very quickly mellows to an ever so gently sweet floral scent. I can definitely smell the tuberose, a very sheer/abstract one that is, which is rare because it seems like perfume houses only want to take a very creamy, rich, potent approach whenever it comes to tuberose. Such an interesting yet very easy to wear scent. Office safe.

Beautiful scent, tea - peach - lotus, can’t go wrong with it. It’s a comfort scent and a bit more feminine, I wear it everyday to the yoga since I have got the bottle, very relaxing. The performance is really good even tho it’s not too strong. My rate 8/10

One should never bombard Gyokuro with this much fruit (They usually use the cheaper sencha for tea mixes)—not to mention the aesthetic is more Chinese than Japanese...(appropriation much?) Basically this whole fragrance is just marketing BS 🤷🏻

This is the closest i came to an arizona ice tea as a fragrance, this smells like AAÆEEE AAAAA IUUUUIIEEEEE (in a good way ofc)

Beautiful tea scent, I love to put it on while watching the latest season of White Lotus, it fits the vibe!
