#94 of My Fragrance Journey - The Nose Behind Royal Dubai: Phantom opulence The light is already low. Gold slipping into amber, catching on glass, on polished wood, on the slow movement of someone passing too close. It settles on skin like heat that hasn't decided to leave yet. Warm, almost tactile. Dry cinnamon edges with black pepper before anything else fully forms - not sharp enough to cut, just enough to hold attention. Something floral moves underneath. Softer, creamier. Not asking to be noticed but refusing to disappear. Then the air thickens. You don't notice the transition, only that the space feels denser now - richer. Dark fruit takes shape. Plum, unmistakably. Ripe to the point of collapse, almost jammed into itself. It should feel indulgent. It does. But something else threads through it. A shadow. Not listed, not declared. Just present. That familiar slightly medicinal depth - like oud, or something close enough to convince you. Resinous, faintly smoky. It gives structure to the sweetness, pulls it inward, keeps it from dissolving completely into comfort. You realise the scent isn't so much evolving as settling into weight. And it stays there longer than you expect. On the skin, it turns slower, thicker. Vanilla emerges - not airy, not delicate, but dense. Wrapped in musk that lingers close, almost clinging. The sweetness builds, controlled but undeniable. You shift slightly, and it follows. Not loud. Just... persistent. There's a kind of confidence in that. But also a limit. In warmer air, you can feel where it might overreach - where the sweetness stops feeling intentional and starts feeling excessive. Where the richness, so composed in cooler light, begins to blur at the edges. It doesn't collapse. It just loses some of its restraint. And the shape of it leans. Not dramatically, but enough. The florals, the density, the way the sweetness settles into skin - it tilts the balance in a direction that isn't entirely neutral. Not fragile, not soft. Just not entirely yours unless you decide it is. Still, it holds. Hours later, the trace remains. Vanilla, quieter now. That phantom depth still underneath - less opulent, more intimate. Like a room after everyone's left. Warmth still caught in the air, no longer performing. You sit with it longer than you meant to. Not because it demands attention. Because it doesn't let go easily. And somewhere in that quiet excess, you start to wonder - do you wear it for the presence it creates, or for the way it lingers when everything else is gone? Vibe: Low light and dark fruit. Spice that stays warm. A room that remembers you. Performance: Strong and persistent. Ease up in the heat. Fit: For someone comfortable carrying weight - the kind that doesn't need to explain itself. Do you wear it for the presence it creates... or for the way it lingers when everything else is gone? More scent stories and visuals on Instagram - @lavendercloudsjd

Pafory Advent Calendar 2025 – Day 8 First impression: A sweet, oud-leaning fragrance - rich, heavy, and very much in that modern oriental style. It opens with cinnamon and a touch of ylang-ylang before shifting quickly into what smells like oud and sweet dark plums. Oud isn’t listed, but its presence in the heart feels unmistakable. The whole thing leans sweet, resinous, and opulent, with a sweet vanilla-musk base and a soft echo of that “phantom oud” lingering underneath. It definitely reminds me of several contemporary oud scents... but I’ll admit, I don’t hate it. I actually kind of like it. Full review to follow! Niche December Contestant 8: Forgot to list my first impressions, still: Opens up with a fruity note, then settles down into a richer plum-wood-something with notable muskiness and other sweet notes. Despite initially thinking that this scent leans feminine, I changed my mind. This scent is universal and unisex, fits for basically any situation, and has good overall performance to keep up with the interesting profile. It's nice. Overall 8/10. Missing something but I don't know what.

I am getting a lot of Samsara vibes from this. Mostly ylang dominated, an okay female fragrance
