First Milk

It's creamy without being gourmand, milky without turning sour, comforting while remaining light. I couldn't love it more. I'm not a fan of The Nue Co's fragrances in general-- a bit too heavy on the aromatic naturals for me-- but this is different. For context as to my taste: I love lactonic notes, but I'm picky. I love Santal Calling and, while decidedly NOT a lactonic scent, I do love Xtra Milk for its bright and airy musk. I don't like Blanche Bette (very sweet), Ghost in the Shell (unsettling and sterile), or Milk/Milk Orchid (too vanilla/too coconut-- my skin amplifies both to a sickening degree). And yet, even with vanilla and tonka in the notes, First Milk doesn't pull vanilla on me. It's heavier on the pink pepper, musk, and almond milk, with a whisper of powdery iris running through it, all very much resting on that woody cashmere base. That being said, this is not ALL cashmeran coziness. There is a cool freshness to it that gives it more seasonal versatility. I notice this most when I smell it beside Santal Calling, which is so warm that it makes First Milk smell like a cold glass of milk dripping with condensation. I love wearing First Milk on its own, but I've also had success layering or pairing with other fragrances. It goes well with everything: spicy, green/figgy, fruity, floral, ozonic. If I want bright, sharp edges of something softened, or if I want to shift a base, I wear First Milk with it and I've never been disappointed by the result. If I were a person who wore perfume to bed, this or Xtra Milk would be my top contenders. So yeah, in case you can't tell, I'm already dreading the day this gets discontinued.

This one is gorgeous. It's like Ghost in Shell minus the hospital/baby wipe scent, and therefor much more comforting. Coworkers today said it was "calming." I love that this isn't full gourmand. It's soft, but not too sweet, cloying, or sugary. I am a guy, and tend to like unisex scents as long as they are true unisex and for this category; vanillic, fall/winter appropriate, and cozy, but still sensual. I've found it incredibly difficult to find such a thing, but this fits the bill. I think projection is good, but longevity is lacking. I don't mind reapplying this kind of scent though, and at this price point and how quality the composition is, I can't complain. Will likely get a full bottle soon!

First, these scents are intended to be light, so I’m evaluating based on accepting that. I also like skin scents, so it works. This is beautiful. It gives a heavy reminder of Mind Games Prodigy but without the patchouli and intensity that made that too much to handle. This is soft, comforting, creamy and just plain good. It’s accessibly priced. My other favorite of the collection is Otherwear—it’s like a scent I’ve never smelled before.

This was love at first sniff for me, a subtle and conceptual, comforting milky scent. While very discreet, with an intimate projection this is the right side of lactonic without being sickly. Lovely creamy unobtrusive fragrance that would be perfect as a post-partum scent if you want to lean in to that cosy mother's milk vibe and meanwhile faint enough not to bother your baby. Added to wishlist!

If you want to smell creamy without smelling like a cupcake or marshmallow this is the perfume for you. It's more subtle and it layers well, making it really versatile. it just smells so nostalgic and comforting, like a hug from a friend you haven't seen in a while. I usually don't love a pink pepper note but i feel like it lends itself well here. it's literally my new signature scent.

Not sure about the name, I only get a woody Iris scent. Nothing creamy, not cozy quite unisex and cold smelling. Had to give mine away.

My Impression: Tested on skin. At first, this came across very weak—almost too subtle, to the point where I had to spray quite a bit to even detect it. As it developed, I started picking up a sharper, slightly peppery and musky note that became more noticeable over time. Instead of staying creamy or soft like I expected, it leaned more into a sharp, skin-like musk that felt a bit irritating to my nose. I didn’t really get a strong almond milk or creamy vanilla effect. Those notes are present, they’re very muted and overshadowed by that sharper musky/woody quality. The pleasant lactonic note I smelled initially lasted only an hour. It doesn’t smell like Vicks or anything medicinal like cypriol can sometimes do, but it still has a sharp edge that makes it less comforting than I expected. Final Verdict: Interesting concept and very subtle, but the sharp musky/peppery note takes over instead of the creamy elements. Not unpleasant overall, but not something I’d enjoy wearing.

Hmm... there is nothing milky about this to me. I'm not even sure I would describe it as creamy. I personally get a licorice smell from the almond and a minty green scent that I think is the cypriol. It's quite fresh. Like eating black jellybeans in a cold green forest... What that says about my babyhood I don't know. It's definitely a bit of a provocative name/marketing for this scent, but for me personally the scent itself doesn't match that. It's not bad, but it's not something I see myself wearing.

I feel like I’m smelling something completely different than everyone else, and I know, scent is subjective. I get no creamy, no sweet, no almond, no vanilla, no iris...straight pink pepper and musk. It smells exactly like something else Ive smelled, but I can’t put my finger on it. I was hoping for a slightly creamy aspect, but this one did not deliver for me unfortunately.

Just alcohol and piss. Like there was not even a singular note I could pick up.
