Twisted Iris

There's something about this fragrance that called me back to it, kind of like Heretic's Nosferatu, where you're both repelled and attracted at the same time. Not only does it start out smelling like dirt and weeds, but the florals here are feral. If I were a bee, I'd be wallowing around in them. I accidentally sprayed some of this in the air when I was sampling it, and I was far more in love with it than I thought from a nozzle sniff. The dirt and weed smell goes away, just leaving an addictive, animalic floral. I don't get Earl Grey tea, fig, or citrus. But I do get petitgrain, violet, and clary sage for sure. Plus, there's an addictive musk at the bottom of everything.

I've always enjoyed wearing a really well composed and balanced iris scent, this one is no exception it has quality all the way through. I really like the fresh green and slightly citrusy notes against the iris it seems to show off the iris in quite an elegant and sophisticated way. Twisted to perfection and in my view unisex.

For me, it's more of a galbanum and tea scent than an iris one. The latter plays a small role. It's like taking CdG Laurel, and add some tea and some fruitiness. It smells modern and sophisticated, and yet there's also a vintage facet to it, probably bc of the galbanum, which I associate with n°19. Lasts OK, but projection is low.

Starts out unexpectedly sharp, like the scent of a freshly-cut green flower stem, then morphs quickly into a light and lovely violet, with a quick drydown of soft musk and then it disappeared after about 30 minutes. The middle/drydown portion is very nice, just wish it didn't float away so fast.

A sour, green, tangy iris-violet with that peculiar "green bean" note that haunts a couple other violet fragrances, notably The Unicorn Spell and Dryad. I'm usually a fan of green, violety fragrances but the galbanum and citrus have a sour, weedy aspect here that just makes this feel off-balance. It's definitely unusual (and "twisted"), but not for me.

Smells like baby wipes... AFTER the baby has been wiped. I don't even know how that's possible. Truly repulsive. Hard pass for me.
