Rose Boheme

I like this one! It's a powdery, soapy, lemony rose, with a kick of ginger lurking in the background. It's an unusual scent profile and the sillage and longevity are decent. The woody notes in the drydown mean that this one could be worn by women or men. Definitely worth trying, and I might end up purchasing a full bottle. So far with the discovery set, Lady Marmalade (not yet listed on Fragrantica) and this one are the only ones I've liked, but I still have a couple more to try!

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the Alanis Morrisette of perfumery; Rose Boheme! It'll come slinking out onto the stage with a shabby-chic look and no shoes, but when it opens it's mouth to sing, you realise that it's just the same as all of the other corporate rock acts out there. It wants your money, and it'll do anything to get it. It'll resemble so many other perfumes that it'll be pleasantly familiar, yet, if you want something rustic, vintage and bougie, it'll also give that a whirl too, if that will bring the money in. I mean, Rose Boheme doesn't exactly rip up the rule book does it? Much like Alanis Morrisette, it focuses far too much on being palatable, rather than doing something true and rebellious. However, it will try to appear rebellious at the same time, with it's shabby-chic wibble wobble, in an attempt to get it's offerings into two audiences. My mum really likes this perfume, and at the time of writing, she's 72. That tells you all you need to know about it really. A load of flower-power crap, put together poorly, but with a teeny tiny bit of an edge from the oud and ginger. But it has nowhere near enough of those things to make it truly spicy. It couldn't punch it's way out of a paper bag. Lame. Wet blanket. Doing a poop that just falls out of your bum, requiring little effort to pass it. Then, just as you think it's fiddled it's last fumble and that's that, Rose Boheme descends into a soapy hell, which does nothing but give me a massive floral headache. Yuk. No ta Saltworks, you can keep this one. 2/10. I don't mind a bit of Alanis Morrisette, but in very, very small doses. But, it kills itself with it's headache-inducing soapy finish. This knocks it right down the ladder to two out of ten. Miserable.

This one is OK. A bit odd smelling, I thought it was the combination of rose and ginger at first but I've just tried Eau De Protection by ELdO and it smells amaaazing with a very similar note pyramid. Not the biggest fan of how this one is blended and it smells a little chemically. Disclaimer- I tried this full sample set to give a cheaper, UK based brand a chance, some were good, some were bad, most were meh but worth a try nonetheless. I did try it again and it still smelled artificial, strong ang screechy. I was using it to cover ELDO the ghot in the shell ironicaly, which is disgusting on me lol

Strong rose opening with a powdery lily / floral coming through. Dries down with a slightly musky, Oud base note. Longevity 6.5/10, oud scent lasts the longest on the skin. Too churchy floral for me. I'm not a fan of powdery prominent fragrances.

On the initial spray, I really love the rosey floral, slightly gingery scent. If it stayed like that, i'd love this fragrance. But very quickly it becomes very very powdery. There's something almost clinical about it, like walking into a pharmacy. It smells synthetic or just really lily heavy, which is odd because I don't see that included as a note on the website. Such a shame because on paper this was a perfume that has the kind of profile I would normally go for. I’m glad I didn’t blind buy it. I don't think I can leave it on my skin much longer, but I am starting to notice the oud and patchouli notes come through a little more, which is pleasant.
