Tokyo TYO

Although I've really enjoyed the offerings from Scents of Departure that I have tried so far, I didn't set my sights high for Tokyo. I'm generally not into florals, or green fragrances. Tokyo is floral, and a little green, but on my skin it's predominately a soft, creamy musk. I definitely get the lotus and the peony and freesia are also present in the background. Generally, I am not a fan of freesia. It tends to have a weird, plastic smell to me. In Tokyo, it's actually really nice. Soft, and a bit green.

I'm going to be very honest: this absolutely smells like woodier, fresh mulch on my skin. A pungent, damp woodiness w/ the natural odor of slight wood decay. Pleasant is entirely in the eye of the beholder, of course, as shown by the fact that oud scents are only still around due to people liking the smell of 'sick wood' after all... and I find this scent quite comforting. As far as how that smells if you're not familiar with it, don't even look at the notes listed. I get a pungent, sharp (but good surprisingly!) greennish top with a wet woody floral muskiness all around. It's hard to describe apart from my association with freshly lain mulch because that's exactly how this smells to me. How THAT is what I get from these notes, I've not the slightest... I will add that this is based on smelling it up close though, perhaps the wafts are very different. Also I love the bottles!
