Abraj

Having owned this for some time at first I didn’t LOVE it. Each time I wear it, it grows on me more and more. Each time I wear it, the wearing experience is different based on outside temperature and time of day. This is a simple yet extremely complex fragrance that I still don’t feel like I have my head wrapped a round fully. I don’t usually love the earthy variety of patchouli but that combined with the various other notes is beginning to create a fondness that I didn’t see coming. Definitely worth testing but very different than most of the offerings from the house.

Regal scent. One for kings. To my nose, it is an improved version of Zino/Heritage DNA. Heavily reminds me of them, but it is much smoother, a bit more powdery, and noticeably stronger. Obviously, patchouli is the main player here. Opens up similar to Richwood and TF Noir, as it dries down, it becomes more and more similar to Zino/Heritage Can be worn anytime, anywhere. More male, mature. By far the favorite of this line, the only one I own.

Happy to pull this back into Spring rotation today. Beautiful floral honeyed sweetness perfect this time of year. Original modern scent with a nod to vintage. Definitely a mature audience style of fragrance. Reserved sense of calm. Lasts all day.

This is great and has hints of brand characteristics inside. I like it.

Amazing!!! I don't understand the low rating

Like all of the SofD scents I have tried, this opens with an assault of big smells that take a few minutes to resolve into comprehensible notes. The oud here is nice and works well with the bergamot and beautiful saffron in the early stages of the scent. The heart is mostly patchouli to my nose with a jammy rose that plays along with the oud behind the patchouli. Base is pleasant woods. Sillage good for the first couple of hours, then fades steadily to become a skin scent between 4-6 hours in (I find performance is both humidity and temperature dependent: better in warm, humid conditions). Considered on a price independent basis, this fragrance is very nice, if unexceptional. Presentation is excellent in a typically over the top, Dubai manner (my wife is an Emirati who grew up in Dubai and we spend several months each year there--trust me, at least to the eyes of a westerner, Dubai is the land of "too much bling is never enough"). But considered at the price (about $425 for 100ml, currently) at which this fragrance is sold, it is neither unique enough nor of sufficient quality to be worth having. I like several of the Spirit Of Dubai scents enough to have bought full bottles (Oud is great & I also like and own bottles of Baz & Meydan). Unfortunately, Abraj just isn't good enough to bother with unless you can obtain it at around 1/4 of the retail price. Update, 8/21/21: It turns out my wife liked this scent on me enough that she bought me a 50ml bottle as a gift. I still like it, find it over priced and get better performance in humid conditions than dry (which, considering the climate in Dubai, seems like poor compounding for the fragrance house's home market, to me--imagine if a perfume house based in Iceland produced fragrances that performed poorly in cold and damp conditions...you get the idea). So owning a bottle has not changed my perceptions of this scent. Still, it is nice to have and will be traveling back to the U.S. with me the next time I travel with checked luggage. Now that I know my wife liked this scent on me, I will reach for it more often.

Great fragrance! However, based on the notes and the way it smells to my nose...it's similar to Tom Ford's Noir! Today is my first wearing; I work in a corporate setting and I've received 3 unsolicited compliments thus far. I don't wear my fragrances to please other people, I wear them to boost my mood and enhance whatever occasion I am dressed for...(i.e., today I am mostly in monthly meetings and 3 people said I smelled great, etc.). I don't get a Creed Aventus vibe or Invasion Barbare from MDCI! Everyone's nose is different...my nose is pretty seasoned with over 28 years of collecting fragrances...to me this seems like a fragrance I already own (just can't put my finger on it at the moment)...right now, it smells similar to the fore stated Tom Ford Noir. Once I wear this for a few days...I can provide you with a more definitive answer to what it really smells like to my nose. I'd definitely get a sample if you like oriental/woody type fragrances. It leans a bit masculine to me but again, everyone's nose or sense of smell is different. Quality ingredients and the packaging and appearance is awesome! Do your market research, please don't buy this at full retail...I procured my bottle from Maxaroma. If you can find a lower price after you've sampled or you just want to blind buy, go for it...this is a great scent in my opinion. I also wanted to see how this performs in the heat...I will most likely rock this beauty in the Fall, early Winter, and Spring season...if you work in a climate controlled office or workspace it might be okay for the summer as well (2 sprays max). Signature scent...maybe! Enjoy your fragrance journey...and wear what you like and what makes you feel good! Rating thus far: 7/10 (good silage and projection) Q-Scents!

So I decided to pick up a discovery box while visiting Dubai recently and decided to give the series a try. Even though the discovery box set comes at a price of a full low-middle range niche bottle, I have to give it to Nabeel: the packaging feels luxurious and the samples contain 3ml as opposed to 1.5 or 2ml which seem to be the standard for discovery samples of most houses I came across. A nice way to make you feel less guilty, for sure. Abraj opens up with a refreshing, a little bit spicy citrus vibe with a super alluring saffron note riding on top, then slowly drifts into sweeter, floral scent with saffron, rose and geranium (I think). The first hour or so the scent is relatively strong surrounding the wearer in a deep, sweet and colorful cloud which is indeed very invigorating and uplifting (and perhaps bit unfocused), but it unfortunately loses strength relatively quickly. Drydown is extremely lovely, with sweet-woody combo of dry cedar and patchouli, but the sillage is weak at that point, barely more than a skin scent. It's a warm season scent, so somewhat weak performance isn't that surprising, but given the price it did feel kinda disappointing having to reapply it after mere 5 hours or so. Overall it's a pleasant scent, with an elegant trajectory from the fresh/spicy opening, through the opulent sweet floral middle down to a dry woody base, but with a somewhat disappointing performance. I agree with gtabasso below, it's a floral woody scent, nothing cyphre about it. Very wearable, but at the retail price it's not fbw.

Aromatic woody citrusy with a touch of florals. Very nice soft and creamy and very inoffensive. Smells like a modern fougere to me. It reminds me a whole bunch of different things while it is its own thing. Longevity is good an silage is about average. To me this is a perfect mid fall fragrance. The cloud it makes is more floral than what you can smell off of your skin. It's definitely leaning masculine. The one perfume that this reminds me the most is African Leather.

This fragrance goes on citrus and oud in the top then becomes more of a deep, rich floral. I would not call this a rose scent. The saffron and a sweet, jammy rose are there in a deeper base with the patch, wood and musk blended. No note stands out. I would call this a sweet, woody floral, not in the sense of a chypre. There is nothing sharp about it. As it dries down, it gets drier. The cedar really shines through.

Dominant bergamot note sites on woods, spices and florals. Typical. Overstated profile, like the other offerings from this house. That said, it’s pretty good. Reminiscent of some lemony designers. Smells like something Parfums Vintage would release.

This is your xerjoff Renaissance with minus neroli and adding thick sweetness...very uplifting and sensual....great longevity with richness! If you like moonlight patchouli and Renaissance go check up this !!

Smells aromatic, lots of spicyness and some freshness that goes into a soft creamy freshness like uden from xerjoff (they dont smell anything alike but goes in that same creamy freshness side) overall a 5/10

Aromatic citrusy green fougere. The dry down has Creed Aventus vibes. Modest performance and appropriate for summers. Shukran Habibi!

This is the weakest from this house that I've tried but still it has moderate performance, it's not a weak fragrance. I can feel some oud at the opening or some dark woody notes. Then it remains only a very light smoke at the background. To be honest, the opening is very nauseating for my nose and pungent, all strong notes hit you at once. Like a shooting, all together without harmony, like someone mixed randomly perfume oils and threw the blend on your face. Then it calms very quickly and stays close to the skin. This is not a new smell for me. I've smelt it before in one small perfume shop in my city which carries cheap & affordable arabic & eastern european brands. Dominant notes are cedar/musk/bergamot with mild saffron and traces of cardamom. I do not get rose. Performance is average, moderate. It retails here 474 usd per 100 ml.

Cant lie, this smells like a very classic old school masculine men's chypre type fragrance to me. This is not really a "modern" fresh smell or a blue "shower gel with a twist" type of scent. To my nose this registers as a full on standard, traditional, classic, man's man, powerhouse 1980's Stetson/Faberge Brut/Ralph Lauren Chaps style, densely fresh, greenish type of fragrance. This is a dad-frag to my nose. A father fragrance, if you will. This smells like a middle aged late 1980's - early 1990's family man who still carries a briefcase instead of a tablet or cellphone, and who drops his kids off to school in a large SUV before going to his middle management job at X-Corp, and then comes home after a long day's work and dotes on his wife & daughter before telling his son to take out the garbage or else he wont get his allowance, type of guy. Edit: It does get more modern in the far drydown when a certain vague and slight nutty smokiness emerges, which then eventually settles into something akin to Imperium. Not bad..probably a 7/10 though, because it lacks a uniqueness and a modernity factor -- you can get this same effect from an $8 bottle of RL Chaps or Stetson for men. It doesnt help that the spray atomizer on the bottle feels low budget. But fragrancewise, this would never stand out or catch my attention if I hadnt blind bought it, and if I had instead just smelled it in the air on someone in passing. At most, I would probably just think, "wheew, somebody has on some loud cologne!"..which would be neither good nor bad, but merely an observation. Edit: i was a little wrong about this. Its not terribly old school..I mean, it does smell very classically masculine, but it really doesnt smell comparable to cheap outdated drugstore RL Chaps, Brut, Stetson etc type fragrances. Its in the same family, but quality wise this is much closer to a GIT or Roja Apex type of classically masculine fragrance. Much more depth, diffusion, and elegance than a cheap chypre. Very smooth and not heavy at all despite being distinctly masculine. Also, the sprayer actually isnt bad at all. Its not pressurized, which was my original frame of reference, but its a perfectly good quality atomizer. In terms of the actual wearing experience, I would re-rate this a strong 8.5.

ᴛʜᴇ sᴘɪʀɪᴛ ᴏғ ᴅᴜʙᴀɪ - ᴀʙʀᴀᴊ 🔆, ⛱️🌻🍂❄️ Megapolis Skyscrapers livingspace 🪟🏗️ Before I talk about this magical scent please revisit the photos I've tried to portray on Instagram @v.scent.orient to better understanding ABRAJ, a fragrance that is familiar yet unique and impactfull from start to finish. Imagine the bottle of ABRAJ as one of the tall skyscrapers building that is a very common sight in the ultra modern city of Dubai. The trademark of this building material are off course the massive facades of metals and glasses surrounding the exteriors. When we enter the space we will experience the bright and airy atmosphere. ABRAJ is a true interpretation of the modern livingspace in skyscrapers. From the moment I spray it is exactly what I'm picturing vividly in mind. The initial bursts of airy freshness reminds me of the climate controlled environment in the building when daylight, with the bright sunny aroma of the sun touching the glasses. There is the feeling of coolness exactly like the sense of touching cold metal construction when exposed to constant blowing air-conditioning. The many many notes inside ABRAJ are not necessary to be mention at all because they are already fused together unseparately anymore. When wearing it I always feel invigorated and uplifted, and the most dominant state of mind that I have are confident and successful. I'm sure everyone will feel the same when smelling it in the air because it will be a perfect one to be used to scent a megatower building, if there is the budget to do so 😄. I will say this is a genderless perhaps only slightly leaning masculine ones due to the woody aromatic touch it has. The closest comparison I can give perhaps there is a bit DNA of Bleu de Chanel and TOM FORD Noir Men. Hopefully this humble writing that is still far from enough to describe this masterpiece can encourage anyone to at least sample it. It is an amazing fragrance that will works and last in all climate (which add extra value because I never encountered an all seasons perfume yet). Thank you for reading 🙏. This is a nice but overpriced oriental fougere. Iit opens with bergamot, lavender, green apple, pine, pepper, saffron and cardamom, It kinds of remind me of an oriental version of HdP 1828 with hints of Aventus. Then it gets sweet as the rose, geranium and benzoin appear along with prominent patchouli that dominates the scent from this point onwards. The base has oakmoss with prominent birch dirty ashy smokiness and ambroxan/musk.

Mannnnn this is an absolute masterpiece, I truly love it! The scent is bold, luxurious, and unforgettable. The performance is hands down the best I’ve ever experienced, lasting all day with incredible projection. It’s a fragrance that makes a powerful statement every time I wear it. The only drawback is the high price :(

Agree with the others, very bold, woody, mature. The smell of expensive skyscrapers and certainly masculine. It's an older fragrance - probably more suited for an older audience. If you are after a younger, more playful scent, this is not it - this will elevate you to a classy 40 something in a refined setting.

to me its about Patchouli here. Patchouli note is very similar to Ramon Monegal's Mon Patchouly ( but RM is super strong & its just about patchouli) . This is patchouli +lemon + hint of rose . Very well done frag & lasts pretty decent ! Bought a bottle for myself. But bloody expensive :/

Who in Their right mind rated this to smell like aventus? What kind of amateurs are people? This smells nothing like aventus, smells more like a male version of Chanel mademoiselle. 😂
