Meydan

I had never heard of or knew anything about this fragrance before. Sometimes I like to look at the fragrance collection of other reviewers and one day I looked at a random collection and the bottle caught my eye. I read the notes, checked the ratings and reviews and checked the price point. After all that I was intrigued so I purchased a sample. I can tell you right now that it definitely wasn’t love at first sniff. I knew since this was a middle eastern composition that it would have a dryness to it and it would probably be strong but I didn’t expect what I got... I usually go with 6 to 7 sprays and I did that with this and had to learn the hard way that that was OVERKILL for this fragrance. First the fragrance wasn’t what I imagined, it smelled like pure dirt and soil to me. 2nd I think I set my allergies off with the amount of sprays I used. This fragrance is POWERFUL!!! But as the day went on and the fragrance unfolded through it’s dry down, I began to pick up what this juice was all about. It started out harsh at least for me but the leather is actually smooth in this. The Oud is dry, not necessarily a stinky Oud. As the juice dried down I began to pick up more sweetness from the vanilla, cinnamon and definitely could pick up the saffron. But then again it’s so many notes I’m still trying to pin point. The scent actually became intoxicating after a while and lasted on my skin for well over 12 hrs + and then some. I was still smelling this stuff the next day. On the third day I pulled the trigger on a bottle. It sucked me in!! Lol I didn’t want to make this review extra long but it’s fragrances like this that represent pinnacles in my fragrance journey. A few years ago when I started my journey I would’ve never liked this fragrance but it lets me know how my nose is developing and maturing. This juice is Not for everybody. Definitely not a crowd pleaser. You will either hate it or Love it.

Smelled Meydan on a strip in the mall one day, half an hour later I came back and picked up a bottle. I knew immediately when I smelled it that it is special, exactly my kind of scents, strong masculine heavy orientals. Predominantly this is a smokey leather sitting on a greeny background. I can faintly detect the oud somewhere. This is done to perfection for me, leather cannot be any better than this, one of the most unique intriguing fragrances I have. I feel like a king wearing this!! The lasting power of this perfume is unbelievable - especially on fabric! The smell stays for weeks on the shirt and on the shirt next to it in the closet!! The smell lingers for a very long time in the entire closet overpowering all other smells on clothes from different perfumes I wear (and believe me I use a lot of perfume)! I think it is because of the smokey/incense-y notes they used in Meydan - something like the Bakhoor used a lot in the middle east alongside perfumes to intensify smells and give it that everlasting power. Be careful and don't spray it on clothes if you are bothered by this. Last thought is on the house, I think it is true to its name. It encapsulates the culture and life style of that part of the world. They certainly know their local customers and how to speak to them; from the purely oriental scent profiles, local naming conventions, lavish presentation and packaging to the ridiculously expensive price tags. Being an Arab and someone who lived in Dubai for many years I can say this house genuinely and truly represents THE SPIRIT OF DUBAI.

Leather, leather, and more leather... and I love it! I just got my first bottle of Meydan and I'm really pleased with it. Longevity is amazing, the day it arrived I sprayed my right arm at noon, and the next day, when I woke up, it still smelled (faintly) of Meydan... 18 h! Sillage is big in the beginning. This is an amazing oriental leather; very masculine, very strong, very elegant, very sophisticated. Quite unique. Leather is present all the time, but as time goes by, the rest of the notes make their presence known and the "mood" of Meydan changes according to the accompanying notes, first with the saffron, cardamom, grapefruit, etc, and then with the tobacco, labdanum and finally the base notes. This is not linear (although as I said, the leather note is always there). One spray on the back of the neck, and one in the arm is all you need to smell good all day. I love leather perfumes, and this is really one of the best.

It doesn't get better than this; This is a very hypnotizing scent IMHO. although it is extremely expensive which is absolutely outrageous, but nevertheless it is an amazing scent. It is to me very tobacco with leather but in a very nice way; it has some mesmerizing sweetness to it. This is not a hard fragrance to wear especially if you have a darker skin, I don't think light skinned people can pull this off easily, you can wear this in winter, fall, and maybe early spring when its still cooler. It is more of an evening perfume, and suits casual and formal occasions (more focus on formal). I think this is a very pleasing scent that will get you a lot of compliments. Male 35+ masculine, alpha-male quality, only confident men should wear this. Wonderful! Like a dive into the most perfect leather you've ever smelled. A journey through woods, a subtle and elegant tobacco, embraced by amber and cardamom, floral notes in the drydown. An unparalleled richness. For those seeking woody, spicy leather, oud with powdery, floral notes, almost without sweetness, this is the perfume. An item for people with a lot of personality. It evokes the smell of a new and luxurious leather bag, a horse saddle, a corral, absurdly well-crafted with ingredients that transform these characteristics into a persuasive, intriguing, captivating perfume. Powerful, it's not a wildcard or an easy fragrance. It's for those who have presence, want to be noticed, and in an extremely striking way. Don't buy it blindly, unless you know exactly what you're looking for. In fact, it's a work of art, which may not please everyone, but it's absolutely unique. I'm in love with the perfume.

Meydan is the kind of perfume that walks into the room before you do — not aggressively, just confidently... like it already paid the bills and filed your taxes. First spray? Boom. Fresh, green, and expensive. It smells like money not the cash itself, but the feeling of “I’m doing better than last year.” After a few minutes, the leather kicks in. Not biker leather. Not “I ride a camel in the desert” leather. No. This is the smooth, presidential, “I approve this message” leather. Then comes the dry-down: warm, classy, slightly mysterious. It whispers: “Yes, I smell good. No, I won’t tell you what I’m wearing.” Longevity? Bro... This thing lasts longer than some relationships. I have had this for a couple of years now. This is one of the most luxurious, dense, well blended masterpieces I have owned. This is one of the fragrances that you get into the game for. If you ever want to smell what a leather godlike fragrance smells like track it down. In fact, find where Spirit of Dubai retails near you and smell the whole line. The only issue I have with it is price - its bloody expensive. I honestly can't reinforce the point enough, there is no leather fragrance that smells this premium. Lasts forever and projects like a beast. The other surprising thing is that something this complex with an animalic side to it gets compliments from women, or maybe something this masculine is a welcome punch in the air in an increasingly bland and unisex market. 10/10.

This scent! This sexy sexy scent will always be on my "I want" list even if I have 2 bottles of it. Trust me guys leather doesn't get any smoother better and sexier then this one. Infact the whole house is awesome 1st and 2nd generation with exception of a few. Trust me guys if you wanna please your lady get this, and ladies of you wanna hypnotize your guys get this its really masculine though but sexy masculine not in your face spicy fougere masculine. Performance banger Projection banger Scent is subjective but for me at least 10/10. Value of money well imo yes because you can't get anything like this so if the house has made a scent so unique yet sexy they deserve a good price tag. If you dig orientals man that's a treat.

This is the first trully smokey scent I like. It's a frosty smokey slightly medicinal (oud?) leather with strong saffron, very strong geranium, cedar, patchouli. The rest notes are mild. Also although its strenght it's quite versatile. I can imagine this scent in winter, fall, cool spring days and nights and cool summer evenings. It is a strong scent but not so strong as The Spirit of Dubai Majalis that I've tried. Quite pleasant scent and manly IMO. It retails here 485 usd per 100 ml.

This fragrance smells greenish, smooth leathery with some florals in the back ground accompanied by real Oud, tabaco and oriental spices. It is like a beautiful Arabian horse who’s ready for everything inside and outside the royal derby. An wonderful and realistic presentation, you can feel the grass and the running horse, it is a fantastic oriental fragrance dedicated to one of the most beautiful animal: the horse 🐎 . Very good (9.5) - it is unique with excellent performance. Enjoy!

Meydan, as much as i was afraid to pull the trigger and buy, i can easily say this is the most beautiful, complex yet easy to wear leather perfume. The opening leather accord is subtle but enough to enjoy, with hints of cardamom, which is not sickly sweet but very metallic and airy, very enjoyable, with light saffron and woods supporting these 2 beautiful notes throughout the wear! The intensity, projection and longevity are great. Perfect 9/10

This fragrance somehow reminds me of Amouage Epic Man, which I have and I love as well. The main difference in my opinion is tobacco note, which I fell quite strongly in Meydan, blended nicely with leather and oud. It is deffinitely a cold weather fragrance and I don't recommend using Meydan in spring or summer days in any case. This fragrance is not for eveyone, so don't blind buy it, especially if you don't like oriental leather-oud combo.

What i can tell about this perfume The flacon is beautiful Luxurious Packaging Projection , longevity outstanding Smell wow This is my own feeling and many people could disagree But this perfume like ultra niche version mix of the following fragrances : 1- Italian cypress 2- Micallef royal vintage 3- Clive Christian c ( less the stable vibe ) 4- Kashab al Oud asaq Tried 3 times and got the same feeling Result : joined my arsenal Enjoy !

Started out almost Tuscan Leather-ish (made me roll my eyes) with metallic touch, then moves away to become green and aromatic with a creamy background. I love it. Planning to get a full bottle. A unique soft velvety minty oud over topped by spicy waxy citrus and greens. Complex aroma. In the same vein as my favorite Asrar Indonesia by Rasasi. Top shelf stuff and my favourite from the line. Performance is great. Rich blending. I will relish it for sure. Doesn't require a perfect weather so that's an advantage.

One of the best, if not the best leather fragrance out there. I'll only pick African leather over this but that's because I like the Cardamom focus scent on that one, but if you are looking for a leather that is made to smell like leather then look no further. The quality of the materials used in this is definitely top-notch. Love it.

There has to be rose in this. It is a rosy oud as it should be done; saffron, geranium and dry wood; reminds of Boadicea and as good as any Roja. This is Monarch with more leather. Absolutely wow. As it dries down, it loses the rose note. It's all about the leather and oud. Yummy.

This may be the best fragrance in my collection, and I have well over 100. It is as good as it is potent. From the first spray to the dry-down, it is superb. I am definitely gate-keeping this and telling no one...except you all of course.

Gorgeous, wonderful and Manish level 100. To me it swarms between Leather and Sandalwood. And very weird for me that sandalwood is not lasted. Lasts for ages but projection is for 3h then goes close to you, so you can enjoy it all day

It's a gem of leather perfume. Slightly greenish with floral / incense hints which lingers a long long time. reminds me of Chopard's "Black Incense Malaki" just smoother.

A powerful leather scent. Beast mode fragrance that is very masculine. Not a safe blind buy unless you enjoy leather on steroids !

Meydan from Nabeel Arab House of Haute Luxury Niche Perfumery from the United Arab Emirates is part of the luxurious line The Spirit Of Dubai. It is a Oriental Woody Leather Amber Spicy Smoky Unisex perfume with a strong masculine inclination; Its release was in 2015. This fragrance is mainly composed of a rich combination of woods and a green leather that evoke a warm and elegant feeling. In addition, the aromatic character is intertwined with nuances of tobacco and a subtle animalic touch that adds mystery and seduction. The ambery accord lends a refined sensual softness, while the 'oud, with its woody, earthy and smoky richness, adds a luxurious and long-lasting depth. The fragrance opens with a blend of fresh citrus notes with lavender, and spiced mainly by cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom. A touch of apple and mugwort adds a slight sweetness and even more freshness, while the cypress wood already brings a strong grassy vibration already mixing with saffron, immediately referring to a greenish leather that will always permeate the fragrance and increasing the complexity of this opening. Meydan is a nice scent profile. Second best of the Spirit of Dubai fragrances I've tried so far, with Turath being my favorite and the only full bottle of the line I have. As is typical of this brand, they threw in everything but the kitchen sink for notes. Its a smooth, earthy and woody leather, with herbaceous green undertones, and enough of a hint of mild sweetness to enhance wearability. And despite the voluminous melange of notes, it seems the saffron, tobacco and cypress have a noticeable influence, giving an herbaceous green tobacco facet to my nose. I'm operating from a decant, but I'm just not getting the great performance everyone else seems to get. This would be full bottle worthy at a steep discount. It would go into a formal wear collection nicely. Meydan is horse-themed, and so would join Rotano by Maison d'ETTO, Hermès Rocabar, and Lalique Pour Homme Equus in my horse-themed collection of fragrances. Rotano is my favorite of the horses, with its horse tincture and worn saddle leather accord. Macanudo by Maison d’Etto, another horse-themed frag, is on my to-buy list, and mimics the imagery of the green field for horse play that Meydan supposedly conjurs. But the brilliant earthy wet green grass accord of Macanudo outshines the subtle herbaceous green undertones of Meydan. But Meydan is nice.

My first bottle of Spirit of Dubai. It was a blind buy. I thought it would be safe from the good reviews, high rating and the note breakdown. I love leather. This sounded right up my alley. I was a little surprised though. It wasn't what I was expecting. It's distinctly middle-eastern, which is hard to describe. The green notes are sharp and pronounced in the beginning. It does round up and a little sweetness bleeds through, which I was thankful of. The leather is there throughout and it reminds me of a horse (maybe because I am seeing a horse shoe on the bottle and it has an animalic aspect). It is a taste I've yet to acquire. The perfume is strong and longevity is excellent. The three main players are green, leather and tobacco. Do I regret my blind buy? No, I appreciate artistry and so I am glad to have welcomed this in to my collection. However, I cannot think of an occasion yet to wear it. Will need to trial it a few more times as any perfume to appreciate the totality of what it has to offer.

This is a green, oudy creamy leather fragrance. Very elegant and very middle-eastern style scent. Blend is fantastic, making quite hard to pinpoint all the notes apart from the leather accord and the oudy touch. I think it's the saffron and the geranium what makes the other main notes not to go out of limits. This is a beast, which will tell everybody where you were, even hours after, but in the other hand I believe nobody will complain about that, since the aroma it leaves is very comforting and regal. The bottle and presentation is top class, making any perfume collector willing to let this gem an special place in their shelf, for sure. Here the price tag is on the high-end of niche perfumery, so try to smell this, and the others from the line, before hitting the button. WOW, Meydan is really nice. Smells quality all the way. While Meydan has every note and the kitchen sink thrown in, I can describe it as a beautiful leather fragrance. The leather here is quite pleasant and classy, not animalic. To my nose, it's a very fresh leather with a touch of green. I'm assuming the freshness or bite is mainly due to the geranium and cypress. Didn't really pick out all the different notes. They just combine well to make a delicious, fresh backdrop to the leather. Meydan is also very dry; not a touch of sweetness or florals - a very masculine fragrance. This is another one that shouldn't be sold as unisex. Also not one for the bubblegum boys. This is a manly man scent. Performance is very good for longevity, sillage and projection. A bit pricey, but it is so good. I'm getting me a bottle of this baby for sure.

Sophisticated leathery Oriental fougere that delivers masculine charm in spades. The perfume opens with aromatic notes of lavender, saffron, cardamom, grapefruit and other spicy aromatic notes. The heart is brief and has tobacco, labdanum, geranium and slight oud. The perfume settles on a powdery bed first accentuated by a prominent leather and then settling into sweet vanilla, sandalwood, patchouli, musk and tonka bean. Like most of the offerings of this line, this is a kitchen sink of notes, but overall it works and the effect is pleasing. The masculine leaning perfume has moderate to strong projection and excellent longevity. Enjoy!

Nicely blended spices permeate this manly, woody, leathery, nuanced synthesis. I could do without the saffron and geranium, but the blending is so seamless that I can’t imagine what I’d replace them with, and it seems like just about everything is in this mix anyway. Harmonics are a touch off but it’s excusable. Smells better on skin than on paper, and ideally about a foot off the skin. As tends to be the case with SOD, there’s an immensely complex profile at work here. This is the first SOD fragrance with which I can actually detect the majority of the listed notes. Smells good. A borderline hit from the house.

Heavy leather and geranium, an open pouch of shredded Drum tobacco, plus 20 other supporting notes. Complex, oriental, slightly spicy. Not very sweet, slightly bitter, very manly. The longer it sits on your skin the more notes open up. Very well combined notes. Would not call this office friendly, more of a expensive night bar/gentlemen club scent. More of a mature/adult/accomplished/ than a young man fragrance.

Strong leather and cardamom. Halfeti, Meydan and Black Incense Malaki smell extremely similar to my untrained nose. Extremely masculine fragrance and beast mode performance. Probably great fit for GCC environment. Test before you buy. Shukran Habibi!

I've smelled this on numerous occasions and I got to say it's a great fragrance it is in the same ballpark as pehnaligon's halfeti, but i actually prefer this. Give it a try if you're into leathery/barber shop scents. It is quite long lasting too

I think it smells kinda like The Blazing Mr Sam from Penhaligon’s, only richer and heavier on the notes with beast mode performance.

Open citrus-forward floral bias...the musk is assisted into the show with a fruity bias...then you can start to make out the woodsy notes but its still sweet bias...maybe some vetiver, slightly basalmic but you can tell is still somewhat fruity--it tries too hard to smell nice since it's essentially a wild concoction of everything nice without taking the time to craft a meaning, a sense of identity. It's basically Aventus Creed when it's actually led by a CEO who doesn't crash their products into the innards of the dumps, squeezing every last dollar of the fanboys while giving them essentially a 20$ frag from TJ Maxx, but is led by a perfumer who is still learning the ins and outs of niche perfumery, and/or is too scared to settle on a single identity, because it REALLY does smell what Aventus Creed is supposed to smell like (from other's peoples perspectives, though not exactly pineapple), but it shifts into other facets depending on how quickly you get fatigued from a certain note. This is not a bad thing in general, but I prefer to have scents that don't evolve/devolve by THIS much, but this is an art form of itself--it's just something that my preferences go against. Decent frag to smell nice in general, but comes off as a seriously generic "clean," all things considered (see Moroccan Leather by Memo Paris, American Psycho by Xyrena). However, lasts exceptionally longer than most perfumes that I haven't really found in other clean perfumes, so this is a big plus. Unfortunately, not my forte here. Also, there is absolutely no leather here--abstract if anything. It also seems I have triggered a fanboy...

Hear me out, I blind bought this because the reviews are soooo high. It was so much, ha4sh and offensive leather. I just tried it in the cold winter and it's fire for sure. Please test it before you buy it. Super offensive like those oud frederic malle. Not for the inexperienced. Extremely middle eastern.

This is the most Leathery fragrance I've ever tried. I do own it and im shocked at how highly rated it is, because it's almost impossible to wear.

I'm getting a heavy hit of hombre leather. If you aren't big on leather, you won't be big on this! To me this is OK

Leather and oud. Very pungent at first but after that it is bearable. Not my cup of tea.

The old “swing and a miss” This is so incredibly loud and obnoxious. Quite the opposite of what I’m attracted to - and I should have known, but purchased anyway. Not so surprisingly, this is a very middle eastern-centric fragrance. The sour wood - the incense, leather, saffron - it’s almost stereotypically middle eastern. While I appreciate the style, it’s not something I like to wear. Brash, loud, anti-subtle and sour. It’s a scent that leaves zero room for interpretation - masculine from start to finish. If you like middle eastern woody/leather/incense type scents, you’ll almost definitely like this. But - I don’t, and therefore I think it’s awful. 4/10

Headache-inducing kitchen sink frag. Clean but overrated (is it the Aventus fanboys?). 2/10 (minus the headache)

This is by far the best leather perfume I have smelt. It's superbly blended and has amazing lasting power. I had it on a tester paper that I left in my pocket for few hours and took it out. My hand kept smelling of it every time I put it in my pocket for 2 days. The whole room where I put the tester paper still smells of it after 4 days. Enormous longevity. Notes are based on "meydan" or horse track, plenty of unrefined leather and wood. Saffron shows later with oud and keep on projecting. The smell is even better than generation 2 (Abjar) in my opinion due to the very prominent saffron in the latter, although oil % is lower as reflected by their prices. Try this in Nabeel boutique next to Harrods if you get a chance.

This is exceptionally good. A beautiful lavender riding on the crest of a leathery, spicy tobacco wave. Lavender slowly moves away to make way for a mildly sweet tobacco with leather. In the plethora of leather scents that have flooded the market this is right on top with the best leathery scents. Whenever I wear Meydan people certainly do seem to notice this admirable scent but no compliments so far.. As Shakespeare has rightly said, "We all have eyes to wonder but lack tongues to praise"

A leather based fragrance. The opening has saffron and nutmeg with a touch of lavender along with the clean smoky leather which is the main theme of the fragrance, followed by prominent cypress adding a green woody facet and hints of geranium with bitter tobacco that gets prominent in the drydown and creamy woods accord. Finally, the fragrance moves to a base of leather, tobacco, vetiver and patchouli. I think it is my favorite from the house.
