Oud

After an initial blast that does have a strong barnyard note this one settles in for a long ride, more magic carpet than a Bentley, just in terms of the incredible number of notes that are blended into this one. I am not sure how many of those who are only familiar with Western Oud fragrances will want this to be something they will wear except places that appreciate the epitome of Middle Eastern opulence. For me, I will wear it sparingly mostly because of its price, but each wearing will allow me to be transported to a heaven where Hindi Oud is real. I have not tried Habah, but this one has the Spirit of Dubai DNA. I can guarantee I will be sniffing my wrist repeatedly for as long as this beast lasts. It has great longevity and sillage is strong. It is a very male leaning scent and it would take some courage to wear this out about in most parts of the US. I would very strongly encourage a sample before shelling out for a whole bottle.

An extravagant kitchen sink of aromatic woody amber notes, this is an overindulgent trifle that still manages to shine because of the high quality of its ingredients. The centerpiece is a real Hindi Oud in all its glory which in the opening is surrounded by various aromatic and fruity notes (too many to list) and in the heart florals leading to a dense woody powdery base of woody amber, patchouli and tobacco. This is not subtle - A no holds barred full throttle assault on the senses that screams ‘I am a rich Sheikh’ from the rooftops. The masculine leaning scent has strong sillage and lasts forever because of addition of synthetic ambery notes to the mix as well. If you can get it, in most likelihood it will wow you with its astonishing decadence. Enjoy!

First off, I am a huge fan of Frederic Malle's The Night. I count it as one of my prized possessions. That being said, one might think that purchasing Spirit of Dubai Oud would be redundant---it is not. Compared to the night, Dubai Oud is quite linear. The journey begins and ends (quite a while later) with a very pungent, barnyardy, earthy, animalistic oud. This is an oud for oud lovers and not just oud "wanna be" lovers. No "western" oud here, so fans of YSL M7---look elsewhere. This juice commands a healthy price and I resisted until finding a fairly reasonable deal. IMO, $865 for 50ml is whacko. That's The Night territory. The bottle is kitsch. The case is kitsch. The juice is an oud-lover's dream. Because of the price, recommended with reservations.

It doesn't get much better than this. This is not a barnyard oud. It is western. Strong but balanced with sweetness, spice, light floral and cedar. It's the perfect combo. This is as good as any Boadicea or Roja on the market. Amazing house. I LOVED the top but in the base, it's all about cedar. Dry cedar. So, it went from love to like for me. Still amazing.

I tried this at the spirit of Dubai kiosk in the entrance of the Dubai mall...of all the perfumes I've smelled that are oud, this is the closest one that smells of real oud. It was amazing but at 2700 dirhams (700$) WAAAAY out of my price range. Scent 9/10 Projection 6/10 Fortitude 8/10

It started out kind of sharp, like Dahn Al Oudh Moattaq (Ajmal), but warms up and becomes sweet and creamy (signature of Indian oud) which resembles The Night (Frederic Malle) more...for the price I'd rather get that one though--it's richer / more potent.

Wow, just wow. Pungent is an understatement, I didn’t know whether to believe all the comments about farmyard funk, gave it a spray and immediately thought I’d made a huge mistake. But once that had gone, I got the fragrance version of umami flavour. I didn’t like it, I didn’t dislike it, but I spent all day sniffing my wrist. I just couldn’t stop. It’s a great fragrance, just plan when you’re going to wear it, as you really need to get past that first 30 minutes.

Pleasant. Decent. Not totally atypical despite the complex profile. Wish the lime and line notes were stronger. What a blend that would be. Very barnyard opening. Boils down to a strong, refined and basic oud scent with an immense, but overly subdued, bed of nuance. VG.

I don't know, but of first spray it smeled like gasoline 98 octane. And slightly when going to drydown it became like new leather wallet or belt. Interesting fragrances. Or maybe that is how my skin project it.

This perfume is quite pungent in the beginning (or it could be throughout and it's just my nose acclimating). I would describe the opening of Oud as having a potent barnyard skank. There is a hint of sweetness that begins to slowly bleed through, and as it sweetens further, you can recognise the pineapple (more so than any other fruits). However, the fruitiness dissipates soon after leaving behind a faint layer of sweetness. There is a woody and leathery texture accompanying the scent in the base and the tobacco becomes more apparent later. It is a pleasant dry down. Though for moments the attention is diverted to other facets of the fragrance, the oud is still there, wonderfully blended to create a scent that is strangely comforting. I did not have fun with this when I first tested it on paper. I recommend trying it on skin, the scent develops better and makes for a better experience. I'm not sure how palatable it is for Western markets. I can appreciate it but I wouldn't have an occasion to wear it. So, I am happy with just my 3ml sample.

Received the 50 ml bottle today. But sadly discontinued. I wish i also get its oil version.

I sampled this at Spirit of Dubai at two locations in Dubai Mall last week. (November 2021) WOW the first impression of barnyard skank, almost animal urine like, I think will turn off many western fragrance lovers. I could not get past that first skanky impression. I’m sure the puritans will stick with this as it develops and dries down. Sorry this was not for my San Francisco, California palette.

The 'oud is noticeable from the beginning and can bring a level of difficulty to some at this stage, although I don't see it that way. For me disappointing, an 'oud perfume for beginners, I expected a heavier and more challenging 'oud. As the perfume evolves towards the center of the composition, the undisputed protagonist, as it could not be otherwise, the 'oud, announces himself with his intoxicating presence. Accompanied by the sweet scent of a fleeting floral breath of jasmine with roses and aromatic resins, the 'oud merges with nuances of smoky incense and smoky precious woods. This step can be a bit difficult for those who are not used to it, but it is very simple for true lovers of woody 'oud resin, it is not my favorite 'oud profile I really appreciate something more advanced. In Oud, each stage of its evolution reveals new layers of complexity and elegance. Still, I have countless perfumes centered on 'oud better than this one and that are more my face. Heading towards its foundation, the fragrance reaches its apex with a warm and sensual base that lingers on the skin for hours. The 'oud Indian sweet earthy woody and slightly barn is not scary as many reports inform, it is more fame than reality, patchouli and sandalwood add an earthy and smoky depth, this 'oud used here softens a lot over time, while leather and tobacco add a masculine and seductive touch. A woody musky accord creates a comforting sense of warmth, while sweet and vanilla notes add a final touch of indulgence and sweetness. The perfume is complex, full-bodied, exudes virility, and the performance is good but nothing fancy, it is not an atomic bomb. Overall, Oud The Spirit Of Dubai has a very woody drying, it is a complex olfactory work that incorporates luxury, opulence and mystery. Every element of this fragrance is carefully balanced to create an unforgettable sensory experience that leaves a lasting impression. It's an impossible mission to detect all this kaleidoscope of endless combinations and variations of notes. The perfume, whether you wear it on a special occasion or as a personal experience, transports you to a world of timeless elegance and refined sophistication. Oud is a perfume Oriental Cyprus Woody Spicy Floral Fruity Earthy Incense. But it's not a passion for me, I expected more.

Hi fragheads; Lets do this; So this is right off the bat is an extremely expensive perfume at around 600 euros i am guessing if the exchange rate is right! RIDICULOUS! Away from that the perfume opens with an attack of a skanky oud that may offend you on that first puff (be patient please) Do NOT let that turn you away; there’s a gem hidden underneath :) The oud attack settles down quite quickly lets say in half an hour and goes directly to the mid stage, now this is where it gets interesting & really beautiful This perfume is quite an interesting blend to say the least; i get fruity, slightly sweet and pinapply notes that makes it very very pleasant, sandalwood and patchouly surrounds or hugs the combo all together in a very nice way that makes it a bit warm which is interesting; Then comes jasmine and amberwood to add that rich roundness to it. The oud at this stage is still there, but warm deep and calm (nothing is harsh but just a tiny little hint of that skankiness), saffron is subtle All the way through (except in the opening like the oud). This is a male focused fragrance I’d say, 35+ Best weather would be any season as long it is between (15-30 degrees Celsius) Do not blind buy, because it could still not work for you. Best skin tone i think is middle-eastern skin (dark). The most annoying this is the longevity: very very low; it disappears after 4 hours, 5 max! Shame Rating: Price: 0/10 Sillage: 4/10 Projection: 3/10 Performance: 2/10 Longevity: 4/10 (4-6 hours on skin / 12 on fabric) Uniqueness: 8/10 Versatility: (7/10) you can wear it with shorts, jeans, tshirts, shirts, casual and even smart casual, but NOT FORMAL. Casual outings, office, friends outings, beach, club, lunch but NOT dinner or classy events. Last things: a bit of humidity works well with this. Overall rating: 2/10 (because of money and performance) without that aspect 7/10 Enjoy :)

real oud! Not synthetic, not made easy on the nose. I wouldn't say 100 percent barnyard, but def skanky in the best way. This will not please everyone, especially in top. It does ease up after an hour into a more appealing scent to the common observer. Real oud is expensive and hard to extract, so people saying this is overpriced so not understand what goes into sourcing and extracting ingredients. Now nebulous is overpriced at around 2k us. But this i would say is priced well actually. Hard to say at 1k us but I really think it is. This house is about quality ingredients and powerful lasting scents. To me this is a separation from the rest of this line as spices are not as noticeable. It's about the oud shining here, as it should be. I like the wood on the back end as well. 8 out of 10 which is great from me with a oud scent

Barnyard opening Great oud Strongest sillage i've ever met. Half of spray on my shoulder and that went through my t-shirt, sweater and denim jacket. It's not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate this masterpiece. Nuclear performance!!! Beware! If you do more than 2 full sprays, you'll get kidney failure.

It's oud alright, but not the type I was expecting. I wanted to be that pungent, fecal, in your face, unapologetic type of oud. What I get is a super light animalic and very recognizable oud. It's nice, but not the oud that give me the shivers and excitement.

Had this before back in 2022 but gave it out. However, this is good but I like and enjoy Haibah much more better! you can't go wrong either this OUD or Haibah.. Enjoy!
