Kiki's Plant Sex

To me this is scent is exactly my lane which is "Am I intimidated by her or am I wildly entranced by her...or both?" Masterfully crafted complexity and blended to indulgent but smooth perfection. The patchouli, as usual, has a lot of verve but it is harmonized with a cozy chamomile and minty/fruity black currant. It was an immediate "I need that" due to it's utterly singular impression. The sillage and projection are near beast without shouting, rather speaking with authority. The journey and lingering notes wear down elegantly with a bit of lasting tension. If I had to immediately pare it with a song it would be "Lady" by Fela Kuti. Not for the mild mannered or timid. You better stomp these streets with your head held high while wearing this! Had the absolute pleasure of meeting Christophe, the perfumer and absolute legend of the industry! He also very kindly engraved my bottle at his store, Naked Ghosts! It came as no surprise Mr. Laudamiel has created some of the most iconic frags out there... Ralph Lauren - Polo Blue, Abercrombie & Fitch - Fierce...to name just a couple. This scent is for the grown up, self actualized, confidently unique, who took risks and maybe did not fit in during their younger years, but secretly knew the pond was just too small and a bigger world awaited them.

I picked up a bottle of this limited edition perfume in Berlin last year, not knowing who Kiki Smith was or ever smelling this before. It is a fresh, green and aromatic perfume with a strangely addictive and unusual note I can only assume is the boxwood. IRL some say boxwood smells a bit like cat pee ! Patchouli is barely there, I wouldn’t call this a patchouli perfume at all although it gives a lovely warmth along with the sandalwood and musk. It’s lightly woody, summery and bright and warm and comforting at the same time. Really nice and very unique.
