Jasmine of Athens

A gorgeous vanilla-infused jasmine, sweet and non-indolic--more like a jasmine-scented vanilla custard than a real jasmine plant, or maybe like a jasmine plant that is blooming in an enchanted Athenian pastry shop. I'm grateful to my decanter friend Sarah, whose exquisite taste and generosity inspired her to send me a llttle dabber freebie of this truly superb jasmiine scent. I'm torn because I want to share what remains of this sample with the members of my ad hoc perfume club, but I also want to hoard it to use as a good reference jasmine. It's not a soliflore, thanks to the sweet vanilla, but it's less abstract and aggressive than Alien (a perfume I love so don't come at me, Alien fans). It is unfortunate that jasmine is such a common note in bathroom deodorizers and hotel sprays because people will inevitably bring up these (unfortunately natural) associations, but thankfully I have grown jasmine on my back patio, and I associate its fragrance with the hypnotic drone of cicadas and the humid torpor of a St. Louis summer. Update: Trying this fragrance on skin again, a couple of months later, I notice a distinct tuberose note. I guess it must be the tiare and jasmine combined. But it seems present to me, maybe because I have been on a bit of a tuberose kick lately. I'd say this is full-bottle-worthy, for those with a hole in their collections. It seems well worth the price, even though I haven't bought any (yet).

I bought this because of the great reviews here. And I need a good fragrance for spring/summer as most of my collection is heavy fall/winter gourmands and spicy frags. I can't stop spraying this. It's DIVINE! It arrived yesterday and needs no maturing or maceration. If I didn't know the notes, I'd swear this was a milky tropical banana/vanilla fragrance. OMG, it's so beautiful!!! I've never smelled anything like this. This is top tier stuff and I got it for like $50 on Scentsplit. If you love a tropical, non-coconut gourmand, you need this in your life!! Edit: Going into day #3 since this beauty showed up in my mailbox and I haven't wanted to wear anything else. That's how good this is. And I have a huge collection. This is a stunner 😍!!

This turned out to be my favourite jasmine fragrance ever and one of the few bottles in my collection I would repurchase in a heartbeat if it suddenly vanished! It's creamy, slightly sweet with a hint of some kind of exotic fruit. Not exactly banana, not exactly cherimoya, but I could see the comparison with either of them. Some might find it boring because there’s no real green / fresh aspect to this jasmine and nothing indolic from what I can smell... to me this is simple but perfect. Also, the longevity and projection are great and, more surprisingly, this brand doesn't break the bank either. (the full bottles - extraits excluded - are usually 45€ full price, ~31€ during sales on the brand's site)

I got this from a small shop when I visited Greece this past summer. I loved it from the first spray. It smells of psychedelic, boho-like jasmine. First note is jasmine and last note is also jasmine. No tiare, no gardenia. You have to travel to Italy or Greece to appreciate this particular intoxicating jasmine scent because its fragrance is entangled with a blend of hot Mediterranean nights and passionate emotions of summer memories that leave you feeling mesmerized by the ancient, mythical lands they come from. This is by far the closest resemblance scent of jasmine I have ever smelled on a perfume. It lasts all day and is so feminine.. A very unadulterated scent. Beautiful.

Opens with a blast of heady white florals. The opening could be a bit headache inducing. Quickly gets smoothened out with vanilla though. Warms up really beautiful on the skin. The florals smell buttery to me. When it starts drying down it gets a powdery quality as well. Was a bit surprised there is no tuberose listed. Also, I definitely get a tropical vibe from this one. If you like scents such as Bora bora by Giardini di Toscana, Ylang in gold and even Soleil blanc there is a good chance you’ll enjoy this one as well. I definitely do. Would be super beautiful a hot August night when on vacation in Greece 💕

This is just so delicious. I love white flowers, I have an arsenal of them, yet this one has stolen my heart. The jasmine here is slightly indolic, but only enough to keep the scent "adult" and I can wear this without smelling like a candy store. At first I was skeptical about combining white flowers with such a creamy toffee kind vanilla, but it really works! I have received compliments on this. Definitely a winter scent to me.

I am a sucker for Tiare flower. "Jasmine of Athens" is a sweet & creamy exotic floral fragrance. I also get a white sweet banana pulp mixed with plumeria / frangipani. Linear, yes, but if you enjoy sweet tiare, this is a nice one. P.s. I also own the Intense Tiare by Montale, the Nuxe Prodigieux perfume & Datura Noir by Serge Lutens, they all are my summer staples or, a cold winter medicine :)

I'm struggling to articulate this one but here are I go. This smells incredibly opulant and resplendent. To me it almost smelled like a solid singular note, as if the perfumer had discovered some new flower and made a pure oil from it. If I had to describe it I would say jasmine, vanilla, candied banana, and lactose balanced perfectly to create a solid base and nothing more.

this one makes me proud of my country's perfumery... best of the house so far (i own 4 Theodoro's creations) . It's a buttery tropical candied jasmine that develops sweeter and sweeter through wearing into banana tuberose combination! I always get compliments with this...

I ordered 4 fragrances from this house. All of them are really good but this is my favorite. It’s a candied tropical banana Jasmine that is perfect for summer nights. Surely there is Ylang Ylang and Gardenia in this.

Jasmine of Athens is a total misnomer for this perfume as it’s more of a tiare flower-vanilla bomb than it is a jasmine forward scent. You get small traces of jasmine here and there, but the tiare flower is just so powerful here that it really overshadows the jasmine. I got this scent mainly because I’ve been on the hunt for a true tiare flower scent and I think this is a pretty good one so far. From first spray, you are hit with a blast of a banana-like smell that’s super sweet and a bit milky. Once it has time to settle on the skin (maybe about 20 or so minutes), the tiare flower moves from creamy bananas to more of the traditional tropical white flower that it is. My nose picks up on a slightly indolic vibe from the combo of jasmine and tiare that’s sweetened with lots of vanilla. Idk why but I also feel like there’s some ylang ylang here somehow but it’s just not listed in the notes. The performance is excellent for the price, good sillage and good longevity. I’ve worn it so far only in the cold NYC weather and it’s only a like for me at the moment. I feel like it’s true beauty will be unleashed when it gets hot outside, so I’m gonna test it again when it’s warmer. It definitely gives tropical island vibes and transports me to a beautiful beach somewhere in the Greece.

Just received Jasmine and Plumeria through the nice discount offer. Although I don’t usually look much at this, the package come so nicely in 2 boxes wrapped with beautiful black ribbons. Now for the perfumes. Very nice discovery. Both perfumes have something in common which is that the flowers are interpreted likem after you pick them from the tree and after they stay a bit in the sun. They lose the greener scent when still on the tree and gain a creamy sweeter cashmere note, without passing however into any indolic space. Jasmine is fully flowery, no soap or powder, a warm creamy very floral jasmine, very easy for a start in jasmine or those hating indoles as no trace of them. And the tiare is standing out as well. What I especially like in both is that....they last. Very precious quality these days, the fragrances are dense and present. For sure will come back for more.

This is a lovely floral fragrance that dries down beautifully with a smooth vanilla base. The tiare flower takes centre stage (while the jasmine is quite subtle), giving the scent a distinctly summery feel. She is wearing a silk scarf to protect her hair in a topless car on a sunny day, driving through some fields of some beautiful european country. If you enjoy white floral vanillas that lean strongly floral, you’ll appreciate this. It shares the linear floral-vanilla character of something like a Rebatchi Vanille Riviera but features a creamier, more desserty vanilla note. I like both, but you probably only need one, and this one is more affordable.

the opening is intense! like jamsin essential oil! yet it is not annoying and while it tends to feel "old" it doesnt, it feels like a narrative of what perfumes were in the old days... after the dry down there cone s avery unique blend that hints of the intense jasmine of the opening well blended with a tropical like skin scent... the opening might not be for everyone, i dont even know of it is for me since i hate intense lady like florals.. its just that this one is like "those old lady like florals" but not quite it has a spiritual, purer aspect to it..

Jasmine of Athens by Theodoros Kalotinis offers a dominant vanilla note intertwined with tiare flower, creating an intensely sweet fragrance. It is somewhat linear, lacking any of the Jasmine it’s named for. In the dry down, the vanilla takes center stage, though hints of tiare flower linger. With moderate projection and sillage, I find layering it with This is Her by Zadig and Voltaire balances this scent, adding much needed depth, making it less sickly sweet.

For me this smells like a very sweet vanilla scent, not so much of a jasmine. But it seems like both are there in a way. But tiare here? I wouldn't have guessed that but reading it as a note, could be. Too sweet for me to really wear it but if I had a bit more of it (I only have a small sample), I'd enjoy it once a month or so anyway. I think this sweetness is similar to the sweetness in TK's Mentor.

Re-tested for summer weather on what may be the last warm afternoon of the year. I still really like it, but now I have another white flowers fragrance that smells super similar, Frank Boclet's Cocaine, and I don't think I need both.

A very simple elegant white floral perfume. Not groundbreaking but decent

Just got my two sample from this perfume house - Jasmine of Athens and Gardenia . Love my white florals so I thought I would give TK perfume house a go as the reviews were very positive . The opening notes are definitely beautiful Jasmine , green and clean , just how I like it . But that dissipated very quickly to what I assume is the Tiare Flower. I have never smelt this scent before but one reviewer mentioned Tropical , creamy , slightly bananaish and I get that . Then it mixes with vanilla and it becomes sweeter still . I’m really on the fence, as I feel this should be called Tiare Flower not Jasmine but maybe the scent I’m getting is a blending of both . It’s a very unique perfume but I find it too sweet for my tastes . It’s a heavy scent on my skin , projection and longevity is enormous but overall a pretty scent just too sweet and overpowering for me .

I was so excited about this fragrance because on paper it smelled JUST like this pear jasmine American Girl body spray that my cousin had (and I was extremely jealous of). testing it on the skin, it is aggressively straightforward, a little boring, and there was a sour/curdled note upon first spray that dissipated pretty fast but definitely surprised me. I will try this again when the weather gets hot, but overall I'm disappointed.

I had the chance to sample this while in Athens. Its smell is truly of jasmine blended along with Tiare flower releasing a strong, lactonic fragrance. To my disappointment though, after about three hours, its scent dissipated down to just a common sweet, vanilla caramel like scent with the jasmine completely gone... I feel that although something was supposed to be there, it didn't have the 'power' to survive the test of time.

I was really looking forward to trying this perfume, however it was sadly disappointing and I would rate it 4/10. It's a sweet feminine flowery fragrance for summer, however it's not outstanding or unique and, in fact, does not smell like Jasmine at all. As some reviews noted, it smells like chemical bubble gummy sweetness and it can even be nauseating. Not a good blind but, sadly a miss for me

I really like this perfum but i got slightly disappointed as i was expecting a more realistic Athenian jasmin experience. I would love to smell this fresh , crispy, night blooming jasmin that you can smell all over athens on a summer night but instead it's a sweet vanilla with jasmin hints. It's not bad but a bit meh for me that i dont like sweet perfumes that much.

If this scent had a color, it would be a pastel. Powdery, sweet, bubble gummy, vanilla, floral candy. Theodoros Kalotinis is excellent at making straightforward, mostly gourmand fragrances, and this is no different. He shows restraint by not overcomplicating or muddling his scents. This particular one isn't my taste, but I can respect it for its simplicity!

hmm I came back to this recently and I don't hate it as much as I did when I first smelled it. I'm not sure why I had such a visceral reaction the first time, or why it changed now. But it is a sweet clean jasmine, with a bit of a tropical banana scent too. Still not my favorite but I don't hate it anymore. For me I think it's an "ok" leaning on "like"

I like quite a few of the TK fragrances, but this one is just okay. It is simple, linear, and too sweet on me. I don't get ton of jasmine but maybe more tiare flower and it doesn't seem harmonious to me in this one. I may try layering in the Spring with something to bring a bit of complexity, but this might be passed along.

Simple, effective, clean, affordable for the quality and longevity. But I live in mediterranean and I miss the jasmin green vibe i expected, it seems more tropical fresh/sweet white flower scent (Tiare, i guess). I could wear it anyway or give as a present, anyway.

One-faceted, unbalanced and waaayyy too sweet. Right after spraying it's indolic, but not in the good way, a bit pissy. After 1 min. comes the heavily domineering tiare flower which is plasticky, too thick and after all makes me nauseous. It could be better without the powdery vanilla which makes it more trashy and boring. I can't imagine the right season or occasion to wear this. Because of the tiare it could be a summer scent but its thick, cheap and overpowering texture makes it like you wore a horrible, playdoughy diving suit. It screams for oxygen, and so may you. I love jasmine, I love tiare and I love vanilla, but this is just a hard pass for me. I've never smelt a worse perfume with these notes. Terracotta by Guerlain is muchmuchmuch more better and wearable option in this category.

Very unique and special. I didn’t get much of the regular jasmine note. instead there’s something warm tropical and creamy, very sweet on my skin. Update: everyone in my family begged me to get rid of it, they couldn’t stand it, even my 8yo daughter who usually likes everything sweet((

smell like wet wipes and banana ice cream

This is very unpleasant. I don’t get the jasmine at all. I get a blast of bubble gum, then a sharp shooter of plastic, and then some cheap vanilla comes in trying to smooth it all out. This is one of the worst perfumes I’ve smelled this year, right up there with Armani My Way. Very, very unpleasant with a significant lack of jasmine at all.

Completely agree with @nruthh - this is incredibly unrefined.

If I had four words to describe this fragrance, they would be buttery, gummy, tropical and sweet. This is a very dense tropical jasmine that feels almost like a bubblegum tuberose combined with vanilla. Solar, smooth and creamy would be other words that would capture the feel of this fragrance. As other Kalotinis fragrances, this is one is pretty simplistic too, it literally smells just like a white floral-vanilla combo, but its simplicity is really beautiful here.

Wow the opening is just so wow .. its like you are being drenched in loads of JASMINE something.. after few minutes, the jasmine tones down a bit and it becomes creamy & lactonic. It is simple but extremely beautiful. Has loud projection, tried two spray of this on my wrist when i first received it, my husband came into the room and literally said “wow what is it youre wearing, smells really good”. p/s: Sorry for my english, not my first language.

I had waited to review this wondering how I'd feel, but now that the weather is warmer in NY, I find myself wearing it constantly. It's creamy, and delicious. Jasmin and Tiare wrap themselves around me, like a comforting embrace. It's like friend reminding me of its presence through out the day. In the evening, it becomes slightly vanilla- although the tiare has held it's own. Yes, this is what I need in the big city during 2021.

This is the nicest Jasmine scent I have found in a long time. Soft, buttery, not skanky like Jasmin De Pays. No dead flowers here. Then the Tiare flower makes an appearance. This house puts out some pleasing perfumes. Very impressed to say the least. This smells nothing like Terracotta, thank goodness. I’d say it’s closer to another love, Datura Noir but it’s softer than DN.

Pre-face: Got this as a sample. I’m usually not a fan of jasmine—it just doesn’t blend well with my skin and my nose hates it. But this is the only jasmine scent I find somewhat acceptable. It leans very soapy and clean, with an almost bubblegum-like quality. It’s cute, though not something I’d naturally gravitate toward.

Sweet sweet sweet! Kind of like Madonna Truth or Dare, but starring Jasmine instead of tuberose. But similarly intoxicating, heady white floral sweetness with a slightly overripe fruit aspect (ylang-like too) that I find intriguing. It's a bit simplistic on its own but layers fantastically with masculine scents.

I agree with the review below , I utterly detest this . I’ve had it for about a year and tried it on and off. Today is the final straw with this perfume I just can’t , all I’m smelling is bubblegum and petrol .

this smells fake fake fake. is the jasmine in the room with us? i smell buttery tiare bubblegum. that being said, i dig it when i feel like wreaking havoc on the world around me.

Jasmine vanilla candy. This is a very sweet floral. If you like gourmands and florals then you will like this.

The jasmine is beautiful in this. Yet this perfume is incredibly sweet. It is like candied jasmine.
