Red Rum Reserve

Original Red Rum was a nice frag. I got a 20ml second hand, but never felt the urge to buy a full size bottle. I enjoyed and appreciated it, but I’ve forced myself as of late to not buy full bottles of something unless it truly moves me. That is not to say I didn’t like the original, but only to admit it wasn’t anything that “wowed” me. With that said, Red Rum Reserve gave me a completely different experience. The cherry is deeper, bolder, and less synthetic here. It’s so hard to find a cherry dominant fragrance that doesn’t smell medicinal, which makes RRR a breath of fresh air. Drying down, the woodiness is significantly amplified compared to the original- An absolutely gorgeous compliment to the cherry and rum that hangs around for the entirety of the wear.

I was hesitant to try Red Rum Reserve as I don't enjoy gourmands, but I'm so glad I tested it anyway! Yes, there's cherry, especially in the opening, but very natural, no cough syrup or hard candy vibes here! What really jumps out with me is this very natural, high quality, spiced woods. The oak and sandalwood smoothed out with orris gives the impression of a freshly cut rum barrel which combined with the cherry and spice makes for a suave evening scent. The fact that my wife and friend separately complimented it at dinner makes me think it's as nice in the air around me as I think it is on skin. I know the profile is traditionally seen as for cooler weather, but since it never leans cloying I wore it successfully in high heat and humidity.

I enjoyed the original Red Rum and Red Rum Reserve takes it to the next level. The cherry is richer, fuller, juicier and the rum smells more refined with more pronounced spicy notes. Longevity is great with good projection. The cherry note sticks around a long time but does soften as very smooth, creamy woods come out. I've never been a fan of cherry scents but Red Rum and Red Rum Reserve changed that. This is a must have for cherry lovers. I was fortunate to get a 2ml sample. This stuff is amazing. The cherry definitely stands out but isn't medicinal. It is sweet, dark, and juicy. The rum is smooth. Top shelf rum. Once the cherry dies down some the wood shine. Definitely full bottle worthy. I am probably going to wear this at Fragcon 2026. Definitely in my top 5 maybe even top 3.
