One of the most artistically compelling creations in my collection is Raw Gold. Few fragrances truly challenge me, yet this one did deeply. At first encounter, it radiated such a vivid whiskey accord that I could hardly wear it. Whiskey had once been my favored drink, tied to memories I no longer wished to revisit, and the scent stirred those echoes too vividly. So I set the bottle aside, allowing it to rest in quiet darkness. Half a year later, while introducing the fragrance to a friend, something remarkable had occurred, as if the perfume had matured in silence, rewriting itself. Suddenly it revealed a beauty I had never seen: mesmerizing, magnetic, and utterly addictive. Dense, dark leather - thick as lacquer and textured like old resin - forms its backbone, while Orris lends a touch of rough, almost dusty powder. Vanilla drapes over the bold, borderline feral leather, softening its edges and infusing the structure with a gentle, glowing sweetness. The composition feels both airy and weighty at once, like a heavy velvet curtain lifted by a passing breeze. And above this shifting tapestry, a faint wisp of smoky whiskey still lingers: now transformed, elegant, and evocative. It carries the peaty whisper of Lagavulin, a ghost of fire and smoke that enriches rather than overwhelms. Raw Gold is a fragrance that unfurls best under a moody sky, in the kind of dim, rain-washed atmosphere where everything feels a touch more cinematic, a touch more poetic. I never tryied to raw gold Edp (the limited edition one), but i always saw people talking about how underrated the perfume was and how fantastic it was, to be honest i was always mad beacuse im a sucker for boozy fragrances(keep this in mind), and being limited, I knew that it would be very difficult to smell it and have it (for many reasons). With the reformulation and me loving the new bottles, i became even more curious to know the DNA of Thomas de Monaco and how it could smell Days later, searching where I could smell it, I noticed that one niche store in my city had it, so it became my mission. When I saw the frag and I held it on my and (don't know why, but I was really nervous), I did a few sprays on the paper and my jaw dropped. I was with a person, and they said at first that they didn't like it that much, "it was too strong and literally smells like whiskey" These 2 reasons made me really love the fragrance since the first second that i smelled it, i noticed the notes from the 1 reformulation,: the licour/whiskey,plum, leather, lipstick,saffron,patchouli and makes the perfume unique and BEATIFUL. With this i can say that the perfumer Maurus Bachmann and Thomas de Monaco did a fantastic job on taking the notes and accords presented on this pyramid and still make smell like many people say, like the Raw gold Edp . I can understand that some people want the animals back, but I really think that this is truly a MASTERPIECE Its easy an 10/10 and on of the boozyiest frags out here and i love it (im kind of addicted to this fragrance) Im really pumped to smell all things Thomas de Monaco and what he was planned for the future i just want to see more and more

Is there a perfume you crave, something you smell every day just to experience its scent again? Raw Gold is that kind of fragrance. A deep, raw honey note dominates the opening, thick and golden, with a slight boozy warmth, like honey drizzled over aged wood. It is rich but never overwhelming, indulgent yet effortlessly smooth. Raw gold extrait is pure poetry. A hyper intense release of honey, mixed with davana and attacked notes. Sweet and animalic elevated to maximum power. Little by little it enters its heart of patchouli and leather, without losing at any time that power that the honeyed notes give it. As it softens, the woody notes gain strength. Raw gold also gives us dirty and dark touches of tobacco and aromas like coffee. When I tried it for the first time it reminded me a lot of L'envol de Cartier, with that characteristic mixture of iris and honey, but in this case with much more strength, much better performance and with a much more dynamic development. It is becoming one of my favorite perfumes without a doubt, and very noticeably improves on its predecessor in the edp version. I think it's a bomb for the night, ideal for winter.

This is heaven... Omg... This is heaven... Patchuli, sweet, wood,.. So balanced... 12 hours longevity and beast projection... Favorite favorite ❤️❤️❤️❤️ It feels unisex, I like to explore masculine fragrances so I don't bother myself paying attention if is oriented to females or males... However if my man will wear this uffffffff... And because he won't... I will buy it for myself 😂.. Similarities : Kilian Straight to heaven ( I had it and it's gone in 3 hours and it's more dry), Tiziana Torenzi Urza ( delicious, I feel more tobacco Vetiver...dry fruits.. Delicious but is in 2nd place)

Wonderful perfume. Showcases a great harmony between orris, leather, and patchouli. There’s a blast of orris to start with, and then it’s mostly leather and patchouli for a while. The leather note is in the middle between cowboy boots and expensive wallet. The patchouli is deep and beautiful, not too green. This phase is sweetened by what smells like honey to me. In the dry down a lovely vanilla dominates, sweet but not at all cloying.

Absolutely stunning! Even though I am still in love with first version of it (because of the dense animalic pollen-honey vibe), the new reissued Raw Gold has more lipsticky and leathery nuances. Years of experience tell me that this version would be great for a gentleman who enjoys jazz, expensive suits and occasional scotch to unwind. Classy and refined scent with beautiful performance.

Possibly the most unique fragrance in my collection of around 40 niche fragrances. Absolutely love this fragrance. Perhaps not a safe blind buy, but if you like the sound of the of the notes, go for it, I doubt you’ll be disappointed. I wasn’t sure at first sniff but now it’s my number one favourite. You won’t smell like everyone else.

I have samples of both and they smell very similar except the new one is less animalic to my nose. It's very odd, given that the notes (at least according to fragrantica) appear to be so different. I actually slightly prefer it to the older version, but the patchouli makes a strong appearance in both.

This is an absolutely gorgeous scent. I sprayed it for the first time and that word kept coming to mind. Gorgeous! It evolves into a golden honey tobacco during the dry down. Something about it, maybe patchouli makes me think I would love to smell this on a man.

Superb. This realty shifts on my skin. Beautifully drifts from Orris, to honey, to woods, to leather and also saffron. High quality ingredients and very very smooth.

There's few fragrances that manage to emanate a sense of sophistication for me, let alone predominantly sweet fragrances. I remember seeing so many people praise Dior Homme Intense (2011) as one of, if not the most sophisticated fragrance ever, many "struggling" to wear it because it just felt either "too mature" or "too high-class". Had a good chuckle hearing all this. I wonder how those same people would feel about Raw Gold which feels like a much more improved and sophisticated Dior Homme Intense (2011). The fragrance opens with a beautiful blend of Davana and orris, the former adding this interesting complexity of warm, boozy sweetness with herbaceous undertones that feel as if they were marinated in balsam. The orris contributes with a cloak of makeup-like powderiness, slightly buttery, which adds this layer of elegance. Meanwhile, a softer dry cedarwood gives the composition a grounding effect. Truly a sophisticated entrance. The heart notes subtly make their appearance, without screaming or trying to derive all the attention to them. Soft, smooth suede further refines the scent with velvety, clean leather, while also adding hints of musk and earthiness. The Guaiac wood provides a dark woody-sweetness with mild smoky and balsamic tones, pairing nicely with the patchouli which together they evoke this kind of dark chocolate vibe, getting even hints of bitterness. At the final phase, Raw Gold applies an complex vanilla-driven base. This isn't your usual sweet, creamy, gourmand vanilla that we've gotten so tired of by now. This vanilla feels deeper and darker. It combines balsamic and resinous facets with soft spice and wood, while the sweetness reminds more of toffee than actual vanilla. It also has a syrupy tone, but this doesn't make it cloying or diabetes inducing. The rest of the notes keep it in check, such as the saffron with its distinct hay-like warmth and subtle leathery/medicinal attributes. Overall, a very interesting and nicely sophisticated scent. The blending and quality are expectedly great; everything blends in like in a single unified creation. But unfortunately for me, it's still a bit too sweet for my taste. I was also pleasantly surprise by the performance here. The fragrance easily surpassed 14 hours on my skin, with projection holding on strong. The first two hours I got very solid and constant 2-3 feet or projection, with an even stronger sillage. After that, Raw Gold would take its time to mellow down, gently and softly stepping back in projection as time passed. About 7-8 hours in, I could still rarely get a hint of it in the air. So it's fair to say there's no need to overspray, not that you would overspray something that costs like it actually has raw gold in it. "Sophisticated" doesn't usually pair with "versatile", and in Raw Gold's case, I'd rather keep it for more special/formal events rather than daily wear. It's as if it asks for a more distinct occasion to be worn at, not your usual holiday parties or milestone birthdays. I do enjoy Raw Gold, but not because it's perfect or because it aligns with my taste. Frankly, at first smell, this doesn't directly jump into my alley, with that sweetness needing some toning down, yet it still manages to squeeze in just barely. There's something about it that just feels special. When I wear it, I feel not only sophistication and formality, but also a continuous desire to shove my wrist into my nose and smell it. I wouldn't exactly say it's addictive; I don't feel like that's the right word to describe it. But I will say it is intriguing and it's as if I'm constantly waiting for something to happen, like an answer to a mystery to be unveiled... only it never does. tobacolor gone bad? lol very mossy, woody and leathery but pretty animallic. its Damp like a bookshop kindoff. in dry down, much more leather and earthy notes, abit of iris in it. Its a really interesting scent but id give it a 7.5/10 in terms of wearability for me.

Tested this twice now. I'm not sure what I was expecting, based on the hype I've seen, but here's what I get. This opens with a similar whiskey note you'll get with a lot of other scents (Baraonda, for example) mixed with honey and some iris. It dries down to a powdery vanilla/patchouli/honey scent. I get zero oud in this. Nothing animalic, at all, either. Not much else to say. I could smell this lightly the next morning on my hand and second day it's still going 7 hours later, but it's a skin scent at that point. Sillage is decent for at least 2 hours, so performance is there. A 7.5/10. It's not bad quality, it's just overly sweet and smells like other stuff on the market. Not complex and far too expensive. To joyjoy, this is a different perfumer. The brand has stated they only released the limited one under the old perfumer and then asked the new one to do his own take on it. I assume they wanted a more mass-appealing one. They achieved that but at an insane cost (and why they're trying to raise funds, I suspect).

Dense, creamy and greasy iris at the opening... Nutty patchouli, warm and greased leather between guajac wood and davana. It settles sweet with steaming benzoin, to dry dusty and almondy, with a dark, sexy and steaming vanilla between spirits and pastries. Everything, on top of cedar pencils, clean musk, a sweaty but polite oud and more.... iris. Although it tastes of things already heard, this is for the most part dense, juicy, honeyed, creamy, with character and a greedy feminine nature. Rather sexy, for late-night evenings, happy endings and waking up in sex-worn sheets! Fun!

Very intense honey and yellow floral. It’s loud, the honey is pungent and a little overbearing on top of already difficult to wear yellow florals. This is a very grandma territory of perfumery yet this remains wearable for just about anyone 25+. I can see some people enjoying this however I believe the intensity of both yellow florals and honey is just way too challenging to have together in such high doses. High quality but not my style or aesthetic.

A richer more rounded reworking of the original scent. The scent opens with notes of orris and cedar with slight davana. The heart is mostly suede with some patchouli. The perfume settles on woody notes, vanilla and benzoin. Overall the unisex scent has moderate projection and longevity and is too restrained like its predecessor to be strikingly unique. Suited for colder weather and generally an inoffensive light wear. Enjoy!

It hits like a slap to the face. What immediately bothers me is the barnyard-leaning leather in the opening, paired with an unnecessary, cloying sweetness. Even when a bold, buttery, genuinely beautiful iris finally emerges, that sweet haze never fully disappears. I’ve never really gotten along with fragrances that have “gold” in their name, but I decided to try this one after enjoying Sol Salgado Extrait from the same house. Unfortunately, this wasn’t an exception. The patchouli is unmistakably earthy and muddy, not polished at all. I also pick up an herbal facet and a metallic note that reads like saffron. Still, everything keeps circling back to that barnyard leather accord and a suffocating vanilla. The vanilla here has that biscuity, gourmand-adjacent quality, similar to what you find in certain dessert-like compositions; and it doesn’t work for me. Even toward the very end, when the scent finally calms down a little, it remains firmly in super-bold territory. I have ordered a sample from a local perfume store and, unfortunately, this scent is not what I hoped for. I am saying this is a fan of leather in perfumery, since I already own 15 leather-dominant fragrances. This one is rather buttery instead of being leathery, so I find it totally unappealing to me (I don't like buttery notes at all). That being said, I congratulate myself for dodging another reckless blind buy the very last minute.

Wow! This is so interesting and impressive. It does evoke wealth but like super new money in your face "look i have gold" kinda vulgar style (which matches with the name I guess). I'm not into honey nor saffron and also this is not my vibe so I actually really dislike the scent itself on me but wow. I'm genuinely impressed, this is not like anything else I've smelled so far and the performance is outstanding.

This is a thick layer of waxy honey with earthy and spicy undertones, very dense and rather linear. I don't get such a diversity of notes as described above and unfortunately I don't find the frag interesting enough for its price.

Overloaded, disharmonious, sweet and artificial smelling. Reminds me of many popular and inexpensive fragrances from the Middle East but at Zurich prices. Thomas de Monaco as a creative director seems to be as reckless as he is as a business man.

Raw Gold is a very nice perfume. Notes here are blended in a way to create new fantasy accords, rather than concentrating and showcasing us the materials. There is top where you get lipsticky suede with a touch of sparkle, simmilar to what you get in quality alcohols, and it is sweetened by the bezoin, which further adds gentle muskiness to the composition. As it dries down - cedar and vanilla step up their game, turning composition slightly darker and a touch more woody. it doesnt diviate much from the start however, except davana is no longer there. No issues with longevity and projection is fine. Perfume simply cocoons you and its perfect like that. As a total composition i think it reaches its goal of presenting "golden aura" to the wearer. perfume is beautiful and easy to wear, but not for insecure fragbros. As far as related scents go, id say that Sheiduna was simmilar, eldos Putains has simmilar vibes but its much darker, and lipsticky note is close to what we get in Incarnata.

I’m a collector. I work in a niche perfumery. After a few years like this I find it harder to get truly excited about a fragrance in an unrestrained way. I mean I’ve really fallen in love with several but was able to wait for them to come in store. We were testing TDM house today and I loved Raw Gold. Loved it in a way I hadn’t loved a fragrance in a while. I ordered it directly online and paid full price. My boss laughed and laughed...but she couldn’t stop sniffing my arm.

An incredibly plush and large suede so smooth it makes a ride in a rolls royce look rocky. With orris not too grainy or earthy, more the velvety type and vanilla and benzoin adding sweetness aplenty, this reminds of Papillon Anubis (distantly) without the resins and the heat and as many florals as is present in the Liz Moores creation. Davana and patchouli lend a green hand without veering too far over into dank, dirty, skanky terroir. Nice stuff.

Why are they crediting a different perfumer? The original was by Fredrik Dalman-who did Mona di Orio’s Alinea line (sadly discontinued?). The original version of Raw Gold reminded me of Mona’s Cafe Simien. Really liked both. A bit afraid to try this new version. 🫤

This is one of the most beautiful perfumes I have ever smelt. So well balanced and blended. The davana, the patchouli, the vanilla !!! OMG!!!!! Love Love Love Love Love *Easily 9/10*

Scottish Peated Whisky, this is what I mainly get on my skin, a one of a kind fragrance that doesn’t ressemble to any other in my collection. A must

Very powdery. Carrot seed, oris. Lipsticky, make up-y. Feminine. Not for me.
