Bukhoor

Splendid Start fecal, become resinous and smoky and in the drydown you can feel the fermenting odor of a wet garbage bin. I smell a bit of civet but overall its overdosed in ambrocenide and iso e super. Although the overdose it is a good frag. If you like stinks, you can feel that there is fruit in it when you spray it. Its a bomb, maxed on proj, sillage and long. So strong that you stop smelling it when you spray it, and when leave a cloth with bukhoor you can smell it from the balcony. Has some oud vibes of more than words and bois imperial. I think its norlimbanol, but i know the molecule and i ensure you that it has also skatolenin it to make it fecal. No horse because it has no leather. I am macerating it with lovers tale to make the perfect horse perfume. Notino let me buy it for half the price and it makes me sing luck by lucky twice every single day. Best blind buy ever

Fecal oud. Opens fecal and you stop smelling It. I think its so powerful that even people aorund you cant smell It more than once because they go blind instantly. Its nuclear. There Is some civet in the drydown that gives and vintage vibe to It. Dont smell any apres l'amour neither baccarat rouge. I like It, warm and fruity, incense and scented Woods. I fell the smokyness particularly. The smoke isnt anything like anything by beau Fort London. Its like. Its like i can smell the wood on top of the coal that Burns. I never smelt It yet The facel Is not pure poop. Its like empty vucciria in Palermo that dont get cleaned in weeks. 10 sillage 10 projection 24h ok skin 6+ w on clothes altough the wash Love It, not safe tò blind buy.

Opens with an animalic musk. Then the drydown is a classical but majestuous oud/rose combo sharing similarities with Penhaligon's Sohan and Zegna Indonesian Oud (of the 3, this one is the most interesting imo). The oud is of high quality in this one, strong, warm and barnyard-ish, without leaning fecal. Performance? It's an extrait de parfum concentration, with nuclear projection and stellar longevity (still projects moderately after 12+ hours). A fragrance right up my alley, but the price tag is a little steep. I will wait that it shows up at discounters. Fall/Winter evenings 30+

Stunning, powerful yet sober and absolutely elegant. Oud is slightly on the dirty side yet for a first I find it quite appealing. Then the drydown which is the real beauty of this scent. The strong oud & woody notes mixed with the sweet, soft amber keeps it solid and well balanced. Performance is quite good, this fragrance will shine in winter.

Pile up your laundry and you can still smell it after days, its there. Extremely lovely, beautiful and well balanced bukhoor fragrance. And its for who likes arabic smoky fragrances, if you don't like them don't buy this masterpiece. I haven't smell anything like this gem.

It is not for everyone. You should be really into oud to appreciate it. It gets easier in the dry down tho.

Beautiful smoke and fecal scent. Was a instant crush when I sent it for the fist time I had to have it.

Only people who understand pure oud would appreciate this perfume.

I’m pleased with this house so far. I purchased this one and Arabian Passion from Thomas Kosmala. Both are pleasing, extremely powerful and long lasting fragrances from a relatively new and self taught perfumer. Bukhoor no.9 is not at all what I was expecting from the notes and name of this bottle. I was expecting and hoping for a smoky, woody fragrance with oud. Right off the top, the strongest note is ethyl maltol- a very sweet cotton candy like smell similar to the opening of Bacarat Rouge. While that sweetness never dies down, it does mellow somewhat, allowing some of the listed notes to gently pop in, but they are subdued. That fecal or smokiness that others get, never pierced through for me. The ethyl maltol is incredibly strong, and that’s also the note that projects and lasts forever. Overall a nice fragrance, and if you like MFK BR540 you may dig this. I’m more excited to see what Thomas Kosmala has in store after a few more years of blending.

My husband got this as a gift and I absolutely hated it on him (I guess it’s because I’m used to fresh scents on him for so many years, his signature is Bleu de Chanel EDP). However, it’s unissex and since my skin turns everything sweeter and I do love oud, I wear it and it smells quite nice on me (after the opening because at the opening it smells veeery barnyard, but after about 5/10 min it’s a good oud. Animalic oud. For trained noses and oud lovers that appreciate all types of oud.

It's both funny and sad how many reviewers don't understand this fragrance at all. It's dense and bold, smoky, very animalic but strangely very well balanced. It feels very natural, comparing to Baccarat Rouge which is so overwhelmingly artificial. I'm still in two minds if I want a full size of it or not, I don't believe I could wear it often, but it gives me a strong feeling of presence in a vital and potent way. Very unusual and weirdly delicious fragrance.

This is a weird one for me. I love oud especially the animalic and barnyard types, however this comes off more like cheese than the “fecal” type that other reviews mention. This might be due to the sweet background (?) as to me it definitely smells like BR540 on the dry down. Even with the cheesy opening I find the smell weirdly addictive and notice myself constantly sniffing it when wearing this fragrance.

the opening is very funky, animalic and pungent but that transforms into a much milder funk with a rich smokey and woody depth, then you get greeted by a beautiful sweet amber and I’m noticing an alcoholic sharpness sorta fermented vibe but it’s a great touch. Performance could be better for me but a great scent experience and transformation throughout the wear.

People who are complaining about this being fecal surly haven’t explored middle eastern houses. This in comparison to them is just an entry level complexity with very little traces of oud and more heavy on that ever so famous cotton candy note found in br 540 and all other fragrances being copied these days. 8/10 just for that late magical dry down

The bukhoor here is very prominent And the dry down reminds me of br540 I was worried that at the end of the scents life it would keep me in the company of another baccarat but it didn’t The smell stayed the same until the end of the fragrance Projection is good Longevity is above average

If you don’t like pure oud smell do not come close to this one I on the other hand love oud so I like it It’s nothing ground breaking but it smells of oud and a little of baccarat rouge 540 Pleasant but not worth a full bottle

Eh, it's too similar to a bunch of other things to really be all that special. Very close to Mirsaal With Love from Afnan, which itself is close to BR540. It does smell like the good Yemeni bukhoor, which has a very particular aromatic profile. It's fecal if you smell for that note, and a bit vomit/ginkgo smelling too, again if you train your nose in on it-- but that's bukhoor. There are lots of other supporting notes and those base notes do their job here just as they do in similar compositions. For the money, go with Mirsaal With Love. It's basically the same, a fraction of the price, and performs excellently.

The opening is pungent and funky but within 15-20 minutes I get smell similar to BR540. If you smell it really close you may detect some smoky aspects but in the air it smells v much like the cotton candy smell you get in BR 540. It has very good projection, it radiates off my skin for at least 5 hours or maybe even more so do not overspray. It performed for good 12+ hours I wish I could get more smell of burning woods. I was expecting more from this one since it was named Bakhoor. But do not judge this fragrance from the negative reviews, it is not at all disgusting. If you like BR540 you may like it.

I really like #10. I was so excited to try more. I badly wanted to try this. It was a mistake. Maybe I am not ready. Maybe I am not sophisticated enough. I picked up a sample and just could not. The opening was sour or barnyard way beyond my liking. It took some time but it finally tamed that note. It still wasn't something that I believe i need. Glad it was only a sample and no more. For those of you that dig this, enjoy. More power to you.

Was excited to try this one but disappointed afterwards. This is nothing like "bukhoor/incense" and as others have mentioned it is the base of BR540 with an added barnyard oud note, similar to Oud For Greatness. The smell is okay but this is getting boring now.

This is truly one of the worst things I've ever smelled. Funny how a house can make your favorite scent of all time (No. 4) and your least favorite out of literally everything you've smelled so far. Unless you're wearing this in a room full of perfume enthusiasts who "get it", everyone around you is going to think you haven't bathed in weeks. This smells like STANK. Body odor. You've sharted your pants. Sweated in your clothes and not bothered to wash them. Instant regret from first spray. It does have that tiny little bit of TK DNA with the slightly sweet aroma chemical aspect that this house is very good at, but it's not enough to save it in the least. Be prepared for people to talk about how bad you smell at work and keep their distance. -10/10

So I like oud fragrances but this honestly just smells like a dirty diaper. I can’t wrap my head around why anybody would want to smell like this. The first instinct of most people that do end up smelling like this is to go change their drawers. If I smelled this on somebody, I wouldn’t think they smelled good, that they were trying to pull off something edgy or anything like that, I’d just think that they soiled themselves. Honestly this smells just about as pleasant as my cats litter box.

I smelt this in a shop and almost gagged at the smell of it. To me the opening strongly smells like baby's diarrhea, but if you can get past that, the dry down is a bit more smokey with a less obvious fecal smell but definitely still there. If someone walked past me with this smell I would assume they shat their pants. I'm not super into oud fragrances so maybe I just don't have the nose for this but it was definitely a shocking smell to say the least

This is very fecal smelling long lasting beast mode fragrance. It starts off very fecal and I don't know how long it stays that way because I simply rubbed it off. I don't know how people can compare this with the beautiful Baccarat rougue. They need to get their nose tested. Buy only if you like the smell of shit

Fecal synthetic oud + br 540 = thomas kosmala bukhoor I would not recommend this perfume to anyone, no way bukhoor smells like this. The numbered series smell really synthetic, the musk is headache inducing is also the same one which is used in TK 4 and TK 10

Smells exactly like play-doh or sweetened manure (smell of feces in a barn/farm). If this is what Oud is supposed to smell like, it's the white pepper equivalent in the cooking world, which happens to taste like manure as well.

'm sensing a theme here - Thomas Kosmala seems to like pairing one natural-smelling material with a fake or aromachemical one (a simplified way of making a perfume). In No. 9 Bukhoor, I give Kosmala full credit for using an authentic-smelling oud note, which doesn't mean that he used real oud, just that he ponied up the dosh for a superior-smelling oud synthetic from Firmenich or Symrise (don't worry, though, because he's passed the cost of that decision down to us poor schmucks - this costs $100 more than Tonic No. 1). I like the way the oud note smells in this composition - it is authentically rugged, sheepy, and full of those matted straw and deep leather notes you get in a real-deal oud oil, but skips the honeyed piss and shit notes you sometimes get with the more feral ones. Whether it's worth it to you to pay $100 more for a polite, nipped and tucked facsimile of a real oud oil is really up to you. It comes cloaked in a sticky, gloppy fruit-amber and lots of that scratchy, radiant woodchip note Kosmala likes so much. So much meh for so much money. By the way, real bukhoor, which is basically woodchips (not oud chips) soaked in rose, myrrh, frankincense and other oils, and either smoked loose over a burner (mabkhara) or pressed into a gummy soft brick to break off into single-burn 'nubbins' of incense (kind of like softish incense cones but in a pressed wodge the size of a peppermint patty), does not smell at all like this scent. No. 9 Bukhoor winds up smelling like cheap bro-wood with a vaguely exotic tint, the oud note departing the scene with indecent haste for all $275 you're shelling out for it. Real bukhoor is sweet, incensy, ambery, and yes, usually mega cheap-smelling, but it smells a hundred times better and more honest than this trash. Neutral rating purely for the very good oud material front-loaded into the first 30 minutes.

I tried, honestly, to smell the oud, the rose, the smoke, the amber, and I did get glimpses of them. But as soon as I close my eyes, I am back in the desert next to a camel, with heated camel manure and smokiness of burnt grass/hay around. Fecal/animalic with oud wood - would be my short description of this aroma. If someone digs it - great, just don't go anywhere near me while wearing this super-realistic creation.

The barnyardy smell mellows after some time... sprayed my bottle after nearly a year and it smells like smoky amber wood chips, not really animalic as before. I'll check back in about a week-- this change could be perceived due to the hormonal cycle changes, so maybe it is barnyardy still and I'm probably not sensing it right now.

Opening: great barnyard to my delight, and it's all I wanted. Drydown: very close to MFK BR540, and that's not what I wanted (MFK unleashed this beast, and it grew out like fire). Incredible long lasting, over 16 hours after a tiny spritz on my arms.

Number 9 Al-Bakhouri is the flagship fragrance in Thomas Kosmala's collection. A bakhouri fragrance with notes of oud, amber, musk, and woods. It boasts excellent longevity and sillage. (The ingredients used are not natural.)

The initial blast was extremely animalistic, smelt like real fecal oud. The dry down is very similar to Bacarrat Rouge with the candy floss sweetness with an added dirtiness from the oud.

Not every oud perfume is what you would expect, so I found many who didn't like it The oud in this perfume is a Cambodian oud close to the oil of oud
