Nọ 4 - Après l’Amour Eau de Parfum

Après l’Amour is a beautiful take on the Baccarat Rouge DNA. I do not think I will call it a dupe per se but it certainly has an instant similarity with BR540 (the EDP). Right from the first spritz, you get a fragrance dominated by musk. Yes, this is a musk forward fragrance. This musk, however is not too heavy or animalic but instead soft and refined, giving the scent an addictive, skin-like quality. I find the fragrance to be a deeply personal scent, perfect for close encounters or evening wear. This does not in any way mean, sillage is weak either. It just has this comforting aspect to it. Yes, one may easily go anosmic to it at times but it has a way of reminding you of its presence every now and then as you capture whiffs of it throughout the wearing experience. The notes that stand out to me are a blend of musk, amber and woods, which is offered in a modern rendition akin to the BR540 DNA. At less than half the retail price of MFK's BR540, this is a no-brainer and I would recommend that if you love that kind of fragrance family, you get your nose on this. Personally, I find that Après l'Amour is well blended and offers a similar experience as BR540 despite the musk forward approach used in this composition. The longevity is impressive, with the warm, musky undertones staying prominent throughout the day, leaving an elegant and sensual trail behind. In summary, Après l’Amour is a seductive, cozy fragrance with an intimate charm—a perfect choice for those who love warm, musky, and slightly woody scents. If you love BR540 and want something similar at half the price, this is a perfect cousin to that fragrance. Peace and Love.

For context, (Thursday, 3/12) I left home around 7:30 a.m. and applied five sprays of Après l’Amour by Thomas Kosmala, two on the neck, two behind the ears, and one in hand rubbed on beard and bald head. (I should also mention that I wore this same shirt on Sunday, 3/8 when I had on Baccarat Rouge 540, so there may have still been a little of that lingering on the fabric.) So I was sitting in my office when I got a call from HR. Now, normally when you see HR calling, that’s not exactly a great feeling... but this time it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. When I answered, my HR coworker said, “Hey, this has nothing to do with work, but what is the name of the cologne you’re wearing? When you came up to the HR offices this morning, I can still smell your fragrance in here.” [Thursday, 3/12] I stopped by the HR offices around 11:00 a.m., and the call from HR came in around 2:30 p.m. 😂😂😂😂😂 The funny thing is that even when I left the house that morning, I was already nose-blind to it and couldn’t smell it at all. Before leaving, I was actually thinking I might need to add a few more sprays. Now, I’m not sure if Baccarat Rouge 540 is just that strong and still hanging on the shirt, or if Après l’Amour by Thomas Kosmala is even stronger. Either way, it was clearly projecting a lot more than I realized. The takeaway: believe the idea that less is more. This thing is a PROJECTION MONSTER! Even if you can’t smell it anymore, the people around you probably still can.

Yesterday Morning i put 4 sprays on my skin, 2 on my arms and 2 on the neck, and now i'm reviewing at 6:00am (also washed hands and face multiple times), the fragrance still radiating at a distance about 8-10 inches! Although i hated the fact that once you put this scent on your skin, you will not be able to use another perfume at the same day for going out for an occasion etc, because this fragrance is so dominating and long lingering. Another thing is that, on top notes, i'm getting strong earthiness, somehow looks like an overdose of patchouli alchohol or geosmin, although, that note is not listed in the pyramid, is it lemon zest? bitter orange? does any other person gets this as well? Another misconception is that it smells like BR540 EDP which is 90% wrong (Not sure about BR540 Extrait de Parfum, as i haven't used that), why? because it is wayyyyyyyyyy more stronger and long lasting than BR540, TKNo4 smells like punch in the gut, face smashed on the wall..... on the other hand, BR540 just smells to me like a beautiful english teacher/school's principle office. Pss...Oh, After 24 hours, now it is smelling like somehow BR540 on my hand, that's where the 10% resemblence to BR540 is...

the hype is real, a clone of baccarat rouge 540 extrait, hear me out. When you first spray this you get a blast of the citrus ie lemon zest that is super strong literally very harsh, smells nothing like br540. The dry down is what you need to look for. After like 30 mins, to an average nose it smells exactly like br540 extrait. I own a bottle of br540e, lemme tell you from my experience. I mean the quality difference is somewhat there but its not that major and like i said to an average nose its really similar you cant differentiate in the air. You will definitely pull compliments, it lasts a pretty long time on clothes, i must say very easy to wear, you will get nose blinded for sure. Id say go for about 4-7 sprays outdoor 2-3 indoor cause its a beast in projection, you could pull it off in the summer nights but id recommend go easy. Br540e used to be my signature, but clones started doing a pretty good job with it had to switch it. To end it off, go for kosmala if you like strong fragrances like me, otherwise for a clone, u might need to opt armaf untold, thats a pretty good clone to but not as strong, that aims br540 edp in general.

In a league of its own despite the endless comparisons to BR540. The first thing that hits me is an incredibly vivid pepper accord: bright and effervescent, with a subtle metallic edge, though never industrial. Alongside it is a fruitiness that presents as pineapple: sharp, fresh, and juicy. Beneath it all sits a modern super-amber accord: loud yet smooth, sweet, woody, musky. The pepper never fades. The pineapple-like brightness gradually softens, leaving behind an addictive, still-effervescent amber musk that lasts well beyond 18 hours on my skin while filling a room for the first 8–10. Now, to justify my initial claim. BR540 is a beautiful fragrance, but unfortunately, for those whose preferences are influenced by rarity, it has become ubiquitous. Any fragrance built around modern super-amber materials now seems destined to be compared to it. While BR540 and No.4 certainly share some powerful modern materials, they tell completely different stories. I don't think it's fair to call No.4 a dupe or even say they occupy the same space. Both are excellent fragrances, and both deserve to be appreciated on their own terms.

This fragrance is an immediate crowd pleaser, in my opinion. If you want people to instantly ask what you’re wearing, this is definitely one of those perfumes. Today several people stopped me to ask about it, and one even waited while I pulled up the Fragrantica page to show them the bottle 😂 I hadn’t reached for this one in a while since my collection is quite large and I try to rotate fragrances with the seasons. But rediscovering it reminded me how perfectly it suits spring weather. Some people compare it to Baccarat style fragrances, and I can see why, but to my nose this one leans more musky and airy. It has that radiant, diffusive quality that projects beautifully without feeling heavy. On my skin it comes across slightly sweet, but not overly so. Just enough sweetness to soften the musk and keep it comfortably unisex. Overall, I really love this fragrance. It’s one of those scents that feels effortlessly attractive and easy to wear while still leaving a memorable trail.

Smelled the entire Thomas Kosmala line at Dillard's, impressed that the Thomas Kosmala test strips have printed on them all of the fragrances so that you can put a check mark on the one that you spray on the strip. I liked Brume Radiuse, Neon, Tonic, Candy, and this one the best, and ended up selecting to purchase this one online through Aurafragrance.com which is my go to for excellent fragrance prices. I paid $84 for the full size instead of the $224 that Dillard's was charging. Very pleased with this one, as it is an ambroxan BOMB, which projects and plays loudly for hours and hours. Love the airy Saffron note and the freshness that this one has, fresh but with presence. I'm super glad to have this one. I'm also very interested in the Tonic, which smells exactly like 4711 or Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford, but actually lasts and projects, with the citrus notes staying strong for hours! Very interested in trying more from Thomas Kosmala!!

Nose Note #1014 I can't quite understand the low ratings. This is a wonderful dupe of BR540, but the differences are as follows: quite a clumsy alcohol start that lasts for about 1 minute. Then the DNA kicks in, but it's more "cute" and polished, not as niche, slightly more feminine. Doesn't have the same iconic medicinal touch of saffron that's present in, say, Armaf Untold and yeah, not much cotton candy. So overall I'd say this is trying, just like Ariana Grande Cloud, to make BR540 more accessible and it's succeeding. It is musky? Not like you may imagine, not dirty-musky like Lacoste Pour Femme, for example. Musk is definately not the main player. If you just want a dupe of BR540 for less then Untold is still unbeatable for me. But I keep searching. Confidently leaning feminine. Not as nuclear as Untold, but satisfyingly strong. 7.5/10, good dupe, but a bit too feminine for me

Ok so I’m a big fan of this but it’s really interesting. First of all, my nose isn’t picking up BR540E at all. I think you are all drunk. But moving on. This thing PROJECTS but not like other frags. See the weird thing is the wearer becomes nose blind to it very quickly but everyone else within a 50 foot range of them can smell it strong. I put on 2 sprays and was immediately disappointed that I couldn’t smell it on my skin after like 2 minutes. I went to grab the bottle and add another spray or 2 and my son walked in and said woah what are you wearing, that’s strong!! So I held off adding more. I then started walking towards my wife and got the same reaction. All while I couldn’t smell it!! Now after a couple hours and it had mellowed down a bit I could smell it again and found it to be nice. Not sure what crazy scent profile causes nearly instant nose blindness but this has it.

Bought it upon first smell, reminds me of clean sheets, spiced black tea, and autumn air. It is both smooth and piquant at the same time. It suits somebody who is mild-mannered but has a story to tell. This can definitely be worn most of the year, but goes best with a sweater. For the summer, No4 Sport is a good option if you want to keep the same sort of signature scent throughout the year. A lot of people say No4 Neon is the best, but I wasn't particularly blown away by it. Be careful about how much of Apres l'Amour your spray on, just one spray should be enough as it extremely strong. Some people claim to go noseblind to it after a couple minutes, but I still smell it after a few hours and I have a relatively weak sense of smell. Even if you go nose blind to it, it doesn't mean other people can't smell you, so resist the temptation to add another spray.

I've worn BR540 but after sampling this I decided to replace that with No. 4 Apres L'amour. If this came out first, people would say BR540 smells like Apres L'amour instead, my 2 cents. 2 sprays is enough for me, this stuff is real nuclear. Stayed on a jacket of mine for 2 weeks! and that's from indirect spraying on neck. Moderate sillage and nice scent profile to me as I appreciate "molecular" scents. Almost any occasion kinda scent. It can smell a little familiar to other scents on the current market when people have a waft. I've been asked if its BR540, Bvlgari Tygar, JHAG Not a perfume etc. When I'm bored I take my weaker scents and layer them with Apres L'amour, it hulk-ifies them making them project and last better. Works best with citruses/fougeres and summer scents though as both brightness' ties them together.

So... I was eyeballing the pink chromeish club de nuit and a comment said to get Thomas Kosmala no10 instead for better performance and scent. So I started digging to see if it was worth the price because let me tell you this perfume is not cheap. The only store that had this perfume available in store was dillards. So I got one of those paper tester and brought it home to smell it throughout the day. I liked no.4 more than 10, since 10 smelled way to masculine. Went to the store and came back to the room being impregnated with the perfume from the paper test!l after spraying it 9+ hrs. The paper test was still strong 1 day later and I’m not exaggerating. This scent smells citrusy, musky, and fresh. I also fell in love with 1983 😢 it’s a good penny tho. This scent is so good!

This one is the best inspiration of BR540 With unbelievable performance and wonderful sillage Smells better more mature than the originator And the soft feminine aspect of BR is not present Which makes it a better choice for men I remember trying it when it was released Went to a grey market shop that I knew and the scent as well as the brand was new at the time He advised me to try and all he had was one bottle of it Reluctantly I agreed he sprayed me hand and I went home This was at afternoon Before the shop closed I called him asked if the bottle was still there and bought it instantly Not sure what they did here but if I was Mr kurdijan I would’ve wished I made this one instead of the original if I get a question about BR I always recommend this one instead

This is not a BR540 dupe. That’s not to say that there are not a few similarities. But the character of Apres L’amour is very different from BR540. Both fragrances are airy. But where BR540 is a warm and sensual amber glow, Apres L’amour is a bright and crisp aromatic sparkle. And while BR540 has great longevity and sillage, Apres L’amour FAR exceeds BR540 in performance. Apres L’mour is insanely and unapologetically NUCLEAR in longevity and projection. This is the first fragrance I’ve ever owned where I have to stop at two spritzes. And so far, I have only felt I needed a tiny touch up after about 10 hours. That’s mind blowing! I really like this fragrance, which is no surprise, because I love the BR540 dna. But I don’t wear it as often as my cherished BR540.

PHWOOOOOAAR! What a beast !!! Comparisons to Baccarat Rouge 540 are a laugh. Very remote as a comparison and even then this is way stronger and cheaper. Basically this is a knockout ambroxan - Parfum De Marly Layton Exclusif without the complex opening (which maybe makes Layton better?) - so just like it’s drydown except twice as strong. Sort of cut to the chase version. I like it - very chest thumping, me Tarzan you Jane kinda impact, not for every man, not for business suit use. If you’re not adventurous by nature this is sample first buy. A sweet, salty, spicy, musky woody, sex and funk scent. Edit: Shocked to find my colleagues at work reaction: all wide eyed and wow! I thought some would find it strong and offensive but nup, it was a winner!

It is a very nose blind type of scent but it is not for everyone, not a safe blind buy at all. The musky citrusy bit isn’t for everyone, and for some reason, I get a hint of black pepper from it. The longevity is nuts though, it can easily last for about a month on clothes. I’m not joking. And for my batch (2024, France) it can last the whole day on my skin. I’ve went swimming once, showered before and after, and could actually still smell it by the end of the day. If you’re looking for a signature fragrance, this is a good choice, but it can be a bit offensive to some people. There’s no in between, some love it and will complement it; while others will think it is the worst smelling thing ever. So do wear it with caution.

The scent is absolutely amazing and I think you get more than your money's worth, however, this specific cologne seems to suffer from some insane batch variations. I went through three purchases and returns of the EDP before I got a bottle that was as long-lasting as people say it is. Also, while I definitely understand the comparisons to BR540, Kosmala no. 4 has a VERY different drydown. You get a lot more of the musk in no.4 whereas in BR540 it smells the same the entire time you wear it. Highly recommend this cologne, but beware that you may get a bad batch that has no longevity at all. for reference: I got batch aol23 that was very weak. New batch I just got is HOG23, will see how It performs.

I'm surprised that anyone would compare it to PdM Layton Exclusif or CH Good Girl, seriously? They are miles apart. This is simply BR540 EDP (actually resembles the extrait more) with added orange and lemon notes to make it a little citrusy. Yes, it has ambroxan but so does BR540, it probably has less than BR540 which has so much ambroxan that it causes olfactory fatigue at times. This 95% BR540 EDP, I think only an experienced fraghead would notice the difference. For half of the price of BR540 EDP, you cannot go wrong. Some people will definitely prefer it to BR540 because it is not as sickly sweet as it. Performance and longevity are nuclear. A few sprays will fill a room and last for days.

Today the lemon zest has bene detected by my nose. A fusion of (idk) that gives Smoky, Woody and incense vibe, similar tò emeer by lattafa and more than Word (think its Amber Extreme) But with a fruityness and a cotto Candy vibe that makes It great. The cotto Candy disappear within the drydown, and leave muskyness similar tò serata forma armpit, buy without the onion or weed smell, Just the pungentness and alluring feeling that musks gives to a living being. Longevity Skin 16+ h Clothes 3+ w Projection 5 m with 7 spray Sillage Is unidentified The smell reminds me of Z by morph, buy Better for Summer and closed spaces. 10/10

I hate that everyone keeps saying this smells like BR540, those fragrances relate to a specific ambery-musky family and actually, all of them smell alike... However, Apres L amour is a masterpiece and it is way better and smells much richer than BR540. It has a very burnsugar, musky smells that smells like your loved ones after a very intimate time together ;) Not sure what people keep talking about a bottle made in France or England, I got a bottle made in France with batch code KJ023 and it is beast in sillage and projection.. try to buy the perfume from trusted places as I heard there are some fake ones out there

Personally, I love it! The combination of citrus and sweetness is fantastic. It reminds me a bit of BR540 in a 85% but this one is sweeter like cotton candy with a zesty twist. I do think it benefits from maceration; after a few months in my collection, it smells much better than when I first got it. I wear it in all kinds of weather and all year round, even in summer. It has strong projection, but the longevity on my skin isn’t the best though on clothes, it lasts forever. Just a heads-up: if you’re not familiar with bold notes and intense scents, you might want to sample before blind buying. 9/ 10

Javanolo, ambrox,ambrocen, cashm EM05, habanol, iso, abrettol, Its a fight between javanolo and ambroc, maybe citronellol and limonene gives a zest sensation. A ultra niche man Nemesis. It has a charm that let people Dreams about you (said in a other comment). Sweet, Smoky, a bit marine and Woody like dark vanilla from montale. Beautiful and an investment Often i set hours and days ad a parametri. Today i put 10 sprays on neck, hears, hands and wrists, and i can also smells It. Maybe its not enough, but Is a pleasure that cane be smelt from 4 m with wind

People who think this is weak are definitely being noseblind and I'm not usually the type of guy to believe in that kind of thing. I got a chance to smell it being sprayed by someone on a strip at the store from 7 feet away and it smelled as if my nose was right up to it. I don't think the batch matters as i have one of the "weak" batches as listed below in another review. You have to learn what to smell for, as weird as that sounds and i promise it's beast mode. This is very deceptive in its performance. I don't really think it's like br540 much

Molecular amber ambroxan musk bomb. Some days the sweet amber shines & others the musky molecules shine (my preference). Absolutely not blind by safe. It is harsh- but i like that about it. Better version of BR540 in my opinion. Great deal if you get it at discounters. Trust, there is no variations between batches. it is a STRONG fragrance. Most users will be immediately nose blind due to the molecular bomb that our noses cannot pick up on, that being said spray carefully or people will despise you (even if you can’t smell it). Pretty much like BR450, I can't really pinpoint any differences as I've never owned BR540 personally but I'm sure there are some subtle things that make No. 4 a bit different. I bought a bottle of the Elixir de Parfum and really enjoy the sillage and good performance it provides. You don't really need to spray too heavy as it is pretty well concentrated. The opening is a bit screechy with an intense almond, musk, and slight citrusy vibe, but it dries down quickly into a lovely intoxicating, slightly sweet, musk.

I got a decant of this yesterday and sprayed it on me, no more than two sprays. This morning, I kept catching whifs of myself as if it were freshly sprayed. Absolute lasting power from this one. This fragrance trails you with a lightly spiced amber-y musk. To me, it has the same musky, amber, saffron foundation as BR540, but is more of a trailing scent than fluffy and cloud-like (if that makes sense). The musk has a coziness, reminiscent of the musk in le labo's another 13. I may need to go for a full bottle...

This is a weird and frustrating experience. Spraying it on my clothes and skin I smell nothing but alcohol like vodka, but after 30 minutes I start getting wafts of the most beautiful fragrance. The sillage emanating from my shirt is crazy its all over the place for countless hours. Bringing my nose close to fabric and I still cant smell anything. Step away a few feet and it is intense. First I thought that this Thomas Kosmala was a ripoff and I had wasted my money but now I get it. Fallen in love ❤️

Very nice, a big love for me. Definitely a clone or twist of BR540. Personally I find BR540 to be cloying and headache inducing, but this one is much more pleasant and wearable. This seems more mature/less sweet and the lemon adds some needed freshness. Nothing groundbreaking here so if you already have a clone of this DNA then this will be redundant, but it’s nice. Long lasting with average projection, but this may be one of the frags that people go anosmic to.

personally a big fan of br540, so if you like the dna, but are looking for something more woody, slightly more masculine, more nuclear and beast mode, this is your scent. no.4 is for people who want something that is loud but also soft at the same time. the scent is truly magical to me and gets me so many compliments, as well as people coming up to me and asking what my fragrance is! i got it off of a discounter website, so please don't pay full price!

Pretty shocked by the overall low marks on this fragrance. I get that not every fragrance will be for everyone and this one might be a lot for some. This thing projects like nothing else out there. Someone in my office would wear this and their scent trail would follow them from 20 feet away. It's an intoxicating and addictive scent. True that it does make you nose blind because it is extremely potent stuff. Great value for this banger of a scent.

It smells like another 13 and BR540 had a baby. On my skin this leans sweet/ a light caramel with airy musky. This has great silage and longevity 2-3 sprays maximum- ideally placed at the back of one’s neck or elbows to prevent overwhelming people. I love that one still gets wafts of it through the day and have never been stopped or asked for a perfume more than this. I would not blind buy this as it may be overwhelming for some.

The long Is abnormal I put at mid night in Friday, had a shower on saturday, sweating during the night, had another sweaty nap, and if i rub my wrists against the back of my ears i can still smell It and some times catch a Trail of It when a turno the head sido to side. I did the ear and hand for three times during these days and its still there, not faint, not weak, strong as you are smelling It from the cap

Spectacular. Iso e super and ambrocenide purely. Start sweet as cotton candy but the drydown reveals it as spicy and citrusy, also a oud Amber vibe. A girl dreamed of me with this perfume on. 5+ m sillage for the First 8 h, then for the next 16 h you can still smells It on you even of you wash your skin. 8+ m proj, Gym filler (500+ M2 spaces) 24+ h long The smell is similar to every ambrocenide frag.

Spray lightly or you’re going to choke someone out. I sprayed two sprays on my arm and even after showering I can still smell it. I assume it depends where a person purchase or the batch you get because mine is strong and has longevity. I love this scent profile and I will purchase again. This is a fresh sweet unisex perfume. If you don’t like somewhat masculine or unisex ladies don’t blind buy.

Nuclear sillage and performance so beware to go light on the spray. I actually do not own Baccarat Rouge 540 and I will not be seeking out that one either. From what I understand it smells very similar to this only it doesn't last near as long. A clone is ok if it out performs the OG and thats why I am rating this 8/10. It would be higher except for the cost knocking it down a couple notches.

The brother to the family of monsters by the names of Another 13 and Cheeky Smile. Cousin to Superdose and Baccarat. The sillage and projection on this is truly insane. Seeing the notes is a bit silly, I think this is just pure Ambroxan from the vat. My mommy unwittingly wore 5 sprays to the office and got sent home. Wear at your own risk!

Holy Strong. This is the strongest fragrance I have in my collection. It lasts 24 hrs on the skin and months on clothes (Not exaggerating). The only downside to this is the olfactory fatigue. It comes and goes when you smell it. You can not smell it for 4 hours, and then suddenly it's back as strong as before. 10/10 going out fragrance.

In the air this smells like pure cotton candy. On skin - not so much, but it still comes off as sweet. Immaculate projection and longevity. Probably not a safe blind buy. Awesome pressurized atomiser. Heavy cap. Honestly, the perfumer did a great job on achieving that smell of skin to skin contact. It just smells so sensual. [9.5/10]

This fragrance is beautiful. It’s very long lasting with significant projection. Be sure a little goes along way. I adore a spice that is both fresh and warm and this is it. I wouldn’t wear this to the office, but day or night on my own time. It could be heavy on a super hot day, but if used minimally I think you could make it work.

Cross between BR540 & Bergamask. This does not have that nasty eletronics smell BR has. And with the added citrus ,that lasts the whole day, Bergamask has. Feels very airy, if that makes any sense. If over sprayed, it does turn alcoholic for a few seconds. Very nice, inoffensive but not beastly like some feedback says imo.

I can’t believe people hate this fragrance it’s not synthetic nor that bad I see some perfumes people like they don’t even smell identical when smelled from close and in air this is a clean scent and you don’t get this much of projection and longevity on some perfumes with same price I love this scent it’s different

Truly, a mysterious scent. Can't smell it on myself after 15 minutes at all (and when I say at all, I really mean it). Gave my bottle to my mom, and with only two sprays, she was radiating like there's no tomorrow. Never experienced this with any other scent!

Crazy good old money' sweety scent with an cotton candy opening, sweet, ambery, milky, pleasant dry down. BOMB SILLAGE 1-2h, mediocre sillage 2-8h, skin scent 8-14h. Leans feminine !!!!!!!!!! 8,8/10

I have M0L23 batch Made in France I can't really tell whether its loud or not but my wife did noticed the scent when I wear it. I can smell it but not that loud. Can anyone help is this batch okay?

Smells like that one really hot unattainable gay guy that's mean to everyone and goes clubbing until 7am. He also made you question your sexuality. 10/10 nuclear clubbing scent.
