Kimono Rose

I had a Kimono Rose scented candle years ago, which I *loved* - it had the most feminine, comforting scent - and was recently reminded of it. This led me to some research, where I realized the Thymes actually had a perfume for it - I had to buy it, at least for the nostalgia. I wore Kimono Rose today and it does not disappoint. I smell rose, vanilla, a bit of citrus, and a hint of spice - just like the candle I smelled years ago. It's so feminine and understatedly sexy. I was worried about longevity, but I'm actually quite happy with it - the scent radiated off me for a few hours, and now 4 hours in, it's become a wrist scent, which I'm totally fine with. Like someone mentioned below, the scent actually reminds me a bit of Cacharel's Amor Amor (which I own) - just more floral (from the rose), and less spicy. And I think I actually prefer it over Amor Amor, at least for everyday.

What an underrated fragrance. My husband complements me absolutely every single time I wear this and I'd say it's his favorite fragrance of all that I own. And not just him, it's a major complement getter across the board. It's versatile, could almost go year round in my climate (hot, humid, mild winters.) I wear this as an every day fragrance because at this point I'm looking for more unique fragrances. But seriously, this is beautiful and sexy and should get more hype than it does, especially for $60 a bottle and tons of options for ancillaries to go with it (which do help the longevity.) It also has an elegance to it that I think makes it stand out above some of the other fragrances in this category.

Gah! I have the lotion and I'm dying to get my hands on a bottle of the perfume. I feel rose tends to lean either cold or jammy. Not so here - this is clean without being cold or aldehydic. It's sweet, but not fruity or gourmand. This is a warm, autumn rose. Its almost like it creates its own golden afternoon sunbeam. The lotion sticks around- though it seems to take a back seat then suddenly glow with a peach hued radiance at random points throughout the day. I tested the perfume long ago and loved it. I'll track it down again some day. Update: finally got the cologne and I'm in love. Just as beautiful as the lotion and it seems perfect for all seasons. Might have found my signature!

This scent is deliciously soft, like peeking at fresh roses through gossamer.. Light & airy, still substantial. Like whispering silk. I did not get any vanilla, just a fresh, soft rose-peony scent. I've worn this for years, to bed for calm, in times of tempest for some peace. My husband loves it. I was ecstatic to find a big bottle of this favorite I'd run out of! There is a slight green & leafy aspect to it, pale pink roses and stems, tossed onto the silken sheets. Sheer and romantic. Good staying power for such a soft fragrance! Love this beauty!!

I LOVE the smell of this on my wife. It is a VERY adult scent and is extremely sexy. The Thymes perfumes don't transition quite like others as the armomas start and finish with the same scents. As the name suggests, there is a predominance of a very robust tea rose with hints of mandarine orange, peony and a liberal dab of cassis which just melds them all together. This is very feminine and is quite satiny on my wife's skin. I see this more as a boudoir scent for "special" nights rather than something to wear out on the town...but, oh what a scent.

I find this perfume to be modern and yet it as a vintage field to it. For me it capture the romantic side of roses and the class off a kimono. For having some solid perfume from Kyoto the sent is very similar to Kimono Rose. It's long lasting, memorable but not imposing, strong and delicate. It my perfume of choices when I dress up in a kimono ;-) But it not a every day kind of perfume save it for special moment.

Honestly, from the moment I smelled this, it reminded me of my rich Aunts' bathroom or something... but in a great way. Mature, elegant, not powdery or ovewhelming or old-ladyish. Feminine, light, fresh... just in the right way to make you go 'oh wow, what IS that?' Very impressed with this scent and will continue to buy the body wash if not the Eau.

Softest and youngest rose out there. There's a really pleasing note that reminds me of rice milk? Fresh and wonderful and perfect for the hotter months. A floral that floral haters will appreciate.

The dry down on this is genuinely the most beautiful vanilla scent ever oh my GOD

Wow this smells just like amor amor!

This is so, so PRETTY!! A friend has this and introduced me to it today. I didn't wear it as I didn't want to become confused with another fragrance I'm testing, but I literally huffed the bottle cap and was able to smell it wafting beautifully off of her. It actually has decent projection! Or, at least it does in warmish summer air. I smelled a lot of orange floating around when I first sniffed it, but I mistook it for bergamot. It isn't overly sweet, but it provided a lot of balance to the composition and left it feeling quite fresh. The rose is delicate but not weak, and smells slightly soapy without being striking you as shampoo necessarily...it's just a very cleaned up, feminine rose. I couldn't place the fruit, but it did smell slightly like The Scent of Peace, so blackcurrant is prominent I have a difficult time identifying blackcurrant sometimes though, and the way this fragrance is balanced makes it smell more like an extension of citrus. This has 0 musk to me, which is to say, it isn't a modern designer (I call them 'mall fragrances') sort of smell...which is refreshing to experience. It's different enough not to be confused with an Idole type, or a Delina type of rose. I also didn't smell much vanilla honestly, but it had a tastefully sweet tone. It's lovely, and a truly safe fragrance to wear virtually anytime, around anybody. I would actually go so far as to call it a Swiss Army Knife fragrance 😁 You could wear this out on a date, to work, around kids, to either upscale or casual events, it's a rare perfume in that regard.

This is a lovely, light rose vanilla. Those are really the only notes I smell. The rose is done well -- it doesn't go sour like so many do on me (even Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose does a little). Anyone who likes candied/gourmand roses should definitely give this a try. Also, I was at a Jo Malone counter once and smelled the Cologne Intense Rose Water & Vanilla, which is now unavailable on Jo Malone's site, so I assume discontinued, though still available at some department stores' websites last I checked. Anyway, Kimono Rose reminds me of it quite a bit at a small fraction of the price. Thymes Kimono Rose is a cologne, at least the one I have, so you'll need to reapply frequently, but it is truly delicious.

smells nice, the perfumerie is right down the street, they always have done a good job and have traditionally been a company that keeps up with L'Occitane, as they are always on the "herbal" side. until NOW. now, they are seeing the trends of fruity sweet smelling frags and are bandwagoning, even though they need not. i just tried thier new santal frag as well today and it was very white musk and sugar. oh well, whatever sells, but sometimes it's nice to see a company not get caught up in the trends so that they can be the handy stand-bys. L'Occitane has not yet acquiesced to this...

Ok, not sure about that one...first I am not big on Rose scents, and I bought it based on reviews, this is defintely a nice one, it has punch. And it isn't simply rose water!? The drydown is more complex, a bit spicy..all in all,interesting, yet I am not so enthusiastic as the other reviewers, it is charming, but it is it for me.. I don't find it sexy or anything special!? Now for me, I am not sure I will wear or much..I might swap it!!

It's a fresh citrusy floral, I agree with the Amor Amor comparison, but that's more fruity IMHO. If you like that or Viva la Juicy, it's safe to say you'll like this one, too. It doesn't smell grandma-like at all, the rose is barely detectable to me, but it does have a soft floral aspect like Viva la Juicy. It's great for all ages, but is very youthful, teens and even preteens could wear this.

Pretty! Agreed that this is very feminine. I enjoyed the clean, rose note that I got from this fragrance. The vanilla did not stand out for me, just enough to temper the composition. My only negative comment that it felt a tad synthetic midday, but the longevity was superb!

I love this fragrance it's rather nice, soft, feminine and memorable. It's dainty nice for all year round.

Very pretty, but if you don't like rose fragrances, this may not be for you. It starts off as a mix of pretty floral and powdery scents, blended well. My nose can't distinguish the rose at that point. After the dry down, the rose becomes more prominent. This lasted a few hours on me. Sadly, I'm not a fan of rose prominent fragrances, so this one's not for me.

Oh this is gorgeous! Soft dewy rose, that's cozied up in vanilla. Peony is there too for an accent, I think rose and peony go well together. What I really like is currant zest, it brings out that true essence of rose as a star note :) This scent is very reminiscent of something from childhood, 90s era, not sure if it shares similarity with another great perfume (let me know if you know which one). Great quality, stays on 12+ hours. I also think there is soft musk here too, not listed. If you're a Rose scents fan, definitely must try this one. Quality and price are top notch!
