Tupelo Lemongrass

I was delighted to see a vast selection this brand at one of my local Hallmark stores! I sniffed through basically all the fragrances, tested four on my skin, (Kimono Rose, Lotus Santal, Mirabelle Plum, Tupelo Lemongrass) and I have to say, they were all fairly delightful. Tupelo Lemongrass really stood out to me though. A gorgeous fresh sweet citrus. Perhaps the notes don't include lemongrass - but this fragrances DOES smell like lemongrass. A nice lightly honeyed/floral lemongrass. Kind of like a lemongrass tea. It is clean, crisp, and refreshing, but not without a well blended hint of sweetness. I can smell the "phantom lemongrass", sweet orange, honey, and just a hint of neroli. Usually neroli does just not work on me - but here it works a bit of magic. Tupelo Lemongrass really brightened my day. It has a decent sillage through the first hour but then really quiets after that. Not terribly long lasting, but I think the roller ball was priced at $21 or so - so you could reapply during the day for a fairly good price. This would be a citrus I would wear year round. If you are looking for a sweet lemongrass ... give it a try.

A fantastic blind buy, one of the best in a long time. The top is a dizzying blast of citrus--I get lemon, not clementine--that dissipates within a minute. After which the scent mellows into a lovely lemongrass. I really like this fragrance; however, longevity is less than two hours. I have not sampled Tupelo products previously, but based on the positive experience I have had with this scent, I am curious to try more.

I acquired this citrus-y scent as part of an estate lot. I wouldn't have sought it out by itself (I was after the vintage Chanel in the lot) however, to me this is a lovely, sparkling citrus perfect for a sweltering summer day of chores. The atomizer has a jet-like spray. It really is a perfect thing for this type of day, and I'm happy to have acquired it accidentally. I don't feel I'm wasting or overthinking a fragrance on a day when I'm literally cleaning bathrooms, taking out trash and sweating in the July heat wave while doing it. Yes it smells a little like cleaning products, but in a very nice way - it's crisp, bright and refreshing and it's like I'm hosing myself down with the jet-like spray. :) I wouldn't wear it for an evening out, but it's adding happiness and grace to my lowly chores, a little bit of context aromatherapy for my day. (Gratitude for the family that collected and preserved this nice little bundle of fragrances! Estate shopping is one of my life's joys...)

I rarely leave negative reviews, but for this, I’ll make an exception. I love lemongrass. A resort I stayed at in Belize greeted us at the plane with towels soaked in ice water and lemongrass, grown in the resort’s garden. I wanted something to remind me of that trip. There’s nothing lemongrass about this fragrance. If you blended Lemonheads candy with Pledge furniture polish, you’d be damn close. It’s one of the most unnatural things I’ve ever smelled. The only good thing I can say is that it disappeared in 20 minutes.

I came across this cologne at Ulta over the weekend, and had to test it. I loved the bright lemony top notes, and as it dries down, it smells much like Eau d'Hadrien used to smell, before they reformulated it. This is not a sweet scent and is certainly unisex. I don't smell tonka, which actually suits me just fine. I bought 2 bottles. (My husband likes it too.)
