Sheer Tiffany

The bottle design and shape in this photo depicts a fragrance that my mother had in the 1980s. It cannot have been introduced in 1999, because by then I was already married and living in another state, lol. Perhaps it was reformulated in 1999 but kept the same bottle design? Because her bottle of Sheer Tiffany smelled bright, fresh, clean, and expensive. Not screechy at all, and I always wished I could find another bottle.

It was a blind purchase off eBay, at a very reasonable price (Tiffany is ridiculously expensive). Tiffany Sheer is decent citrusy-flowery perfume but nothing to write home about. However smells pretty clean and surprisingly natural. Worth trying? Probably yes. Paying a fortune? Absolutely no

I have had my huge bottle for a long time... a very generic, drugstore type fragrance, so NOT impressive.. I can't wrap my head around why it's so expensive on eBay... I have sprayed mine "maybe" four times and it has sat unused ever since.. not a fan... so super-synthetic smelling, and nothing even remotely notable about this fragrance. I wouldn't even use this as a room fragrance. Uggh..

Wow, I looked this up out of nostalgia, wanting to see the notes, and I'm shocked that this is considered a rare find these days?! I mean, I'm not sorry that I got rid of it, but I am curious to sniff it again just to reinforce my memories. I bought this with my dad on my first visit to Tiffany's (and New York) because I wanted the robin's egg box and bag (remember the logo-conscious '90s?, lol). I wasn't enamored of the scent even then. From what I remember, it is in the vein of citrus-y floral '90s scents that were everywhere in designer lines at the time. This one felt a little bit more prissy and not as relaxed as, say, CK One, and it was surprisingly synthetic-seeming for what I envisioned for Tiffany as a pre-teen (this was before the phrase "tween" was coined!). Even though they were aiming for a freshness, they didn't really achieve it because it sat in the back of my nose and was pretty screechy. It is super lily-of-the-valley-heavy (and that's not my favorite note, so I'm biased) with musk clinging and dragging any lightness down, making this a "heavy" fresh floral. The citrus notes add to the fragrance, but don't really cut through that fug the LOTV and musk combine into. I do remember a slight aqueous note in the background (must be the water hyacinth), which was also rather typical of the period. Sillage was moderate (and I have a light hand). Lasting power was strong on me - lasted through the school day. This one sat infrequently used on my vanity while Tommy Girl got a ton of play. I wonder what is making it so lust-worthy right now? EDIT: I found this back at my mom's and WOW, I was right about it being screechy. It is incredibly astringent in the opening, which lasts a long time - it is fairly linear. The main note is blood orange with the pungent parts of clementine and tangerine (no sweetness or pulp here) and then lily of the valley with an underlying musk. My bottle is obviously older, but this is just terrible. I would never wear this - it is an assault. I was literally taken aback when it came out of the bottle.

Anyone knows of this sheer version gets close to the Tifanny EDP vintage .....they both share the same bottle shape but I am intrigued if it is kind of the same smell with less silage
