Dionisio

This one just proved to me how far off I can be in gauging my likes or dislikes based on others’ recommendations, notes, etc. If someone had told me this would be my favorite Terenzi, I would never have believed it. Ambergris? Oud? Jasmine? I didn’t think I cared for those at all. I do like vanilla, however, and Dionisio contains two different types of vanilla. That, in part, may account for its holding me in its thrall. I had the honor of a consultation with Signore Terenzi himself as part of an event at Barneys' Chicago store. On comparing six or so of his fragrances, I exclaimed, “Now, this one’s my baby!” I had gone in with a preconceived notion that Al Contrario would be the one for me. (Jeremy Fragrance had said Al Contrario smelled like Nutella; and Nutella is one of my most favorite foods in all the world). But Dionisio won my heart. Next thing I knew, I had purchased it. It is probably the single most expensive thing I have ever bought myself, with the exception of my car and a crown at the dentist! Honestly, I came home and flipped out a little after realizing what I had done! (Gotten into the spirit of the event a little too much for my own good). About a week has passed, and I think I have now come to accept my expenditure. I do love Dionisio and am so glad I bought it. And its presentation is absolutely luxurious. That big, heavy, black leather box with the huge gold medallion! And the gold LED light that comes on when the box is opened, beautifully illuminating the bottle! Dionisio comes in a very substantial, black, cube-shaped bottle which feels as though it is made of a stone-like material. Because of its cost, I should reserve Dionisio for special occasions, but I love it so much that I do not. If you are a lover of vanilla in perfume, Dionisio is a must-try. Strangers have stopped to ask me what perfume I am wearing. I had an original 2018 bottle and replaced it with a 2020 bottle, and I do believe there is something more complex about the 2018. However, I was able to find the 2020 for half of what I paid for the 2018. Still an awful lot for me to pay for perfume, but I like it so much that I got it anyway.

If you like ambergris and vanilla....and musk too....THIS is that fragrance!.......I like ambergris and Creed EROLFA is one of my favorites. Well if you like that then Dionisio is that plus vanilla and musk. I also like the vanilla (Tahitian vanilla) because it’s noticeable but at the same time it’s not one of those “in your face” vanilla scents. I really like this and it might be my new signature scent!.....Another plus.....over time Dionisio starts with ambergris plus vanilla....after a few hours the main scent is vanilla and musk but the ambergris is still there a little bit.. Again, I like this a lot!....My plan...during the day...EROLFA.....later in the evening...Dionisio...definitely!...Additional note: The bottle shown is not the correct bottle....It’s a black bottle and brass plate.......also, instead of it being cylindrical bottle it’s a cube bottle....so, it’s quite a bit different.....In addition, the presentation is awesome!....It’s a box displayed with a led light highlighting the fragrance. So far this is also the best presentation of all fragrances....ever....in my humble opinion.

I’m genuinely disappointed with Dionisio, not because of its scent, but because of its performance. I’ve owned a sample of this fragrance for two years now, which gave me ample time to develop a taste for it. I absolutely love it! It took a moment to get used to the salty character in the composition, but it’s incredibly pleasant. The fragrance is warm, sweet, woody, and ambery, with some delightful floral nuances. Interestingly, it reminds me of Mercedes-Benz Club Black. However, the performance is utterly disappointing. I’ve read reviews mentioning that the batches produced from 2020 onwards have significantly reduced longevity and sillage, and it seems to be true. This raises questions about the quality of these fragrances, especially considering that they are produced in small batches annually. And the price? It’s definitely not worth spending money on. In summary, I adore the scent of Dionisio, but I detest its performance. I really hope that the 2025 batches don’t follow this trend, but I guess we’ll see.

I tried this perfume about a year ago and was mesmerized. The lady at Neiman Marcus sprayed the little card and it was basically a musky white chocolate vanilla with underlying subtle white florals that came across as crystalline little shards. I didn't buy it but kept the card and the scent lingered there for over a month! A year later I obtained the fragrance during a sale at Neiman Marcus, I got the 2022 edition, and it just wasn't the same. It still smells really good. Like musky white chocolate, the same as in Xerjoff's Dama Bianca but with vanilla instead of kumquat. However, the subtle crystalline white florals are missing. Also, it doesn't seem as long lasting as the one I originally smelled. I'm beating myself up for not getting it when I first smelled it. Regardless this is still so good smelling it's a 10 out of 10 for me. For reference, I'm female.

This is absolutely an underrated fragrance! I have so many niche fragrances from, Creed, Parfums de Marley, Tom Ford etc. But this one especially if you’re a fan of Vanilla is truly a beast!! It’s smells so darn good! Days when I come home from work and shower. I have to spray just a little just to enjoy this powerful fragrance. Undoubtedly the top 3 of my collection. Just a dream come true such a delicious powerful and enticing fragrance. I can spray this in the early morning after a shower coming from the gym and this is 6:00am. I’m getting compliments from this after I thought that it had faded away, around the 4:00pm hour. 10 hours plus on this beast!!

An olfactory tribute to the sights and smells of ancient Rome, this animalic stunner from Tiziana Terenzi is quite a beauty to behold. It opens with a strong natural ambergris along with musk and moves to a brief floral heart comprising of lily of the valley and jasmine. The perfume as it settles reveals a base of Oud and vanilla, but the musky ambergris dominates the stay of the perfume. The perfume has a moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. It leans slight masculine. Recommended for sensualists and bold unafraid personalities. It is a beastly delight. Enjoy!

Gorgeous fragrance. Makes me RAWR like Eartha Kitt as soon as I spray it on myself. I have not experienced any issues with a lack of longevity as other reviewers have sadly encountered. In fact, I’m just about to go to bed now and I will still be able to smell it in the morning as usual. Perhaps there are some differences between batches? Speaking for my own personal experience with my bottle, I think it’s stunning. Smoky oud/vanilla. Animalic Musk note makes it very seductive. Definitely a show stopper!

Very strong and very addictive. It's a rich, complex vanilla that's got some heaviness to it. The oud and ambergris really round out this perfume to make it something special. It's like if Vanilla Vice by Snif and Not a Perfume by Juliette Has a Gun made a baby and that baby went on to become a millionaire and got a tasteful amount of plastic surgery. A word from the wise: one spray is enough. Any more and you'd choke out everyone else in the room.

I only have a sample so I have no idea what year it came from. I do love it but looking at the reviews about batch variations and the price alone makes me not buy this. It's more of a dry and resinous vanilla scent with a touch of florals. The oud is more woody than medicinal. My sample lasts all day but Laudano Nero is in my top 10 and can easily be found for under 100 with no batch issues.

This is a vanilla for dangerous women. It's hedonistic, dirty, and sultry, with only a dash of sweetness. There's no room for cuteness here. This vanilla is wrapped in a black dress and furs on the way to a vampire ball. Seduction in an underground club. It sits closely - a revenant hovering just over the skin and beckoning to be taken in. Dark perfection.

This scent is an amazing, warm vanilla amber, with, as many reviewers have noted, an edge (almost medicinal or alcoholic but very faint and well blended—sort of like an expensive bourbon). I find silage and longevity to be enormous. If you are looking for a warm, unique, seductive bomb of a perfume this will blow you away. Love love love.

It’s interesting... The bad breath element everyone talks about in this translates to me, well alongside the vanilla, into an almost pheromone like edge... It truly is a seductive vanilla... Something that almost feels inappropriate... Like vanilla dressed up in black lacy lingerie... This is SDV’s dirty cousin 😄

reminds me of initio mystic experience minus the floral note reminds me also of the drydown of nishane ani and ani x LE: got myself a bottle with 2024 writing and to me at first spray it performs bad. 1 year late seems longevity is better by a few hours more, unfortunately projection is not better...

Found a close match for this scent that is cheaper. Vanilla Vice by Snif at ULTA. I fell in love with this scent the moment I smelled it! I don't like super feminine smells but of course don't want to smell like a man. This one met me right where I needed it to!

Dionisio is an absolute masterpiece! It's warm, sensual, and incredibly intoxicating. The vanilla and oud are perfectly balanced, creating a scent that is both comforting and exciting. I get compliments on it every time I wear it.

It smells 85% similar to Byredo Vanille Antique, but sexier, with a slightly, animalic, non pungent undernote by the ambergris. Very, very good. Along with Spirito Fiorentino and Ursa, the BEST from TT House.

Every time I've worn this fragrance I get asked what am I wearing!!! Every.single.time. Such a banger. I'm so happy it's not one of those overly glazed Tik Tok fragrance.

For me it smells like Montale arabians tonka with iso e-super. Version 2020 has poor projection😞

La mia bottiglia è del 2020,è maturata bene,gli ingredienti sono tutti apposto ormai,sviluppati a dovere. È un profumo che si avvicina a the night di frederic malle per quanto riguarda l'oudh abbastanza fecale e che sa di stallatico e si fonde con gli aromi di crema di vaniglia non alimentare e un sentore di ambra grigia marina. Le note di fiori se ci sono si fondono in questo strano bouquet che non assomiglia a niente altro. Detesto definire un profumo "una vaniglia" perche è ridicolo e ancora più qui non corrisponde. È un odore un po lattiginoso e un po agrodolce,un paio di gocce sulla pelle si sentono a metri di distanza e per molte ore. Non riesco a descriverlo,è un buon odore che muta,un po secco e un po umido,non so se contenga ambra grigia o sostanze naturali ma mi piace pensare che sia così. Siccome non è una vaniglia ma un profumo complesso,chi cerca un odore lineare e banale si troverà molto male. Quando lo ho indossato ne ho messa una goccia, e prima del mio arrivo sulla scogliera al mare,la gente lo sentiva nell'aria. E' sorprendente.

Leans more to the male side than double vanilla from Guerlain. the perfume is felt on the clothing for a couple of days, it feels on you for a very long time. (next morning) even after showering. belongs to the category of skin fragrances but with beastly performances loud at first then it subsides and occasionally overvotes again as if breathing on you. loud and quiet the smell is linear but good enough to stay in that way/form. if you like linear beastly close to skin scents with extraordinary performance? you want a little dirtier different vanilla with tiziana terenzi signed musc touch? that's it ! 9/10 for vanilla lovers. the price is good if we consider the presentation and 100 ml of juice extraxt perfume actually.The background story is of course enticing...ah...Rome..

Questo profumo non assomiglia a nessun altro perché non è "una vaniglia" come lo definiscono in maniera esageratamente semplificata. Lo possiedo dal 2020, è sempre stato un profumo controverso,morbido,cremoso,decisamente strano. La prima volta che lo ho indossato mi faceva venire in mente una spiaggia con ambra grigia deposta dalle onde,aria calda,e poi uno strano sottofondo. Fino a che non ho provato The night di Malle non mi ero accorto che l'oudh creava questo effetto di torba e stallatico molto soffice che ho sentito anche in Dionisio.

The scent is actually unisex, in a very thin line. It's neither harsh nor soft, just right. When you first smell it, it gives off a sharp vibe, followed immediately by the softness of the vanilla in your nose. It's not bad, I think it's a good option to smell different, it's not fascinating but it's not bad either. I think it would feel even better on cold days.

Well, I am going to be the first to review it, then. The scent is sweet, straight-up vanilla, white florals are barely noticeable, there is almost no oud, but the ambergris is quite loud. I think it is ambergris, that is supposed to make this perfume unisex. Personally, I do not like ambergris, as it can easily give out some bitterly-sour "vomit" note in some perfume. Dionisio underlines ambergris with musk, that makes it a perfume not of my liking. Still, vanilla is the most prominent note here, providing quite a nice sillage. By the way, pheromones are listed on the box as one of the notes and this puts me off. Seriously, pheromones in an unisex-fragrance? What kind of pheromones? Animal or human, male or female? I just hope, it's not androstenone, lol :) To sum up, I am sure, there will be the crowd of those, who like it and a crowd of ones, who say "meh". Personally, if decided to give out a fortune to the Terenzi house, I will definitely prefer Delox over this.

Once again, dislike - as it is not a bad scent, but I have feeling that I have tested something totally different, than what was announced. Very weak and purely intimate sillage on skin - non gourmand vanilla that is not cloying or too much sweet but still leaning more feminine and a bit of dusty musky geranium that scratches in throat gently - suppresses even more the sweetness. Nothing more or less, suitable for designer but not nieche perfumes in price point up to max 40 USD currently.

Beautiful packaging, inside a lit luxurious black box. The scent is not a beastly one, sits within an arm's length on me. It is a very sensual scent (one note is pheromones), one not worn casually nor at work. This is one for a special romantic occasion. The combo of ambergris, vanilla and florals is done superbly. It was very pricey, not sure worth the full price of $375 for many, but for an investment in special occasions that will last a lifetime, this is the one for you.

Recently I got Dionisio 2024 batch GE12949. I am very disappointed. There is no smell at all... You feel you are wearing just alcohol. I don't know if some time of maceration is required but I will wait for some months because I am not able to send it back. I already have a large collection of colognes and never had an experience like this.

Tiziana Terenzi has wonderful perfumes, but this one DISAPPOINTED me so much that I had to sell it. I tried to use it in all seasons but the smell was still the same 'PURE VOMIT smell' I didn't smell anything else. That was my experience with this fragrance on my skin.

Mellow Vanilla is what I get the most here, but unlike other vanilla fragrances. Low sillage. One for close encounters, not the office or casually. Get a sample first as I don't think it's worth the price.

Dionisio 2020 is heavily reformulated, now it has almost zero smell and sillage. Don't buy it - it's real trash in an expensive box .. Just a shame to Tiziana Terenzi, they started doing poor quality stuff

Came back here to say I still detest this perfume and I have a nearly untouched 2019 limited/anniversary edition 100 ml bottle for sell or swap.

So, I came across this loving fragrance one day in the fragrance shop while searching for a fragrance for my then-close date night. I checked the notes. There was oud, ambergris and jasmine. I was like...Nah.. these are not my types and how can these blend together. And then I noticed it has vanilla too. so, an urge spiked in me to at least try this. With some resistance in mind, I anyhow tried it on me. There are 2 varying types of vanillas in it that stole my heart immediately and I was like, I need to take this home. I picked it up but still for date night, I scanned through many more fragrances that day but after smelling Dionisio, I could not like anyone else. Let me tell you this one is quite expensive but once you add it to your collection, you will realize it is totally worth every penny. Superb packaging, amazing presentation, and supreme luxurious juice deserve this cost. Since then, I am trying and using it mostly for special occasions but still I sniff it every day from bottle to feel the luxury and stunning fragrance. Longevity is eternal and silage is also enormous for this beauty. All my love to this amazing one!

Batch of 2021 Dionisio ir very sexy! I found this perfume loud, super super strong character, and very attention-grabbing, a person who wears this has to be confident or at least the perfume has this 'confidence' vibe. To me this is a night-out perfume for sure, in the daytime it just feels super wrong. There is something intriguing about the scent, something secretly provocative, I don't know it creates some sort of mystery you just can not explain. To me, this feels dark and sexy for sure. absolutely a nighttime scent only. Dionisio is sweet, and opulent with a strong and loud musk note. it is not a light-hearted perfume, you have to own it to wear it as it is definitely attention-grabbing, you have to know what you are doing. The one that I have is very very long-lasting, it lasts for several days on clothing and the sillage is enormous, it overpowers other scents around. I do not get why people compare this to Arabians Tonka as they do not smell the same to me. I really like the intrigue Dionisio creates. If you like parties at night and you want to feel sexy and confident I strongly recommend you try this!

There is something highly ethereal about this scent. Alluring in a way vintage Hypnotic Poison is. It opens slightly boozy, like smooth bourbon. A tide of vanillic ambergris floods the scene. There is a heavenly bouquet of LOTV and quiet jasmine petals right at the surface, floating. The oud is smooth, very delicate. This scent doesn't smell natural at all, but you can pick up on high-quality ingredients. It has a doll plastic feeling to it, and I think this is why it transports me to my childhood. However, the allure and pull this concoction has over me makes me drool. Interesting, because I've smelled this a thousand times before and I never actually sat to appreciate it until now. It's delicate compared to other TT presentations, so I guess the contrast made me put the tester strips down and focus elsewhere. My apologies!

Please disregard the reviews that complain about the 2024 bottles. These fragrances are primarily designed for those who are not "perfume beginners"—they're not like Davidoff Cool Water. It's normal for them to have an alcohol scent opening when the bottle is recently opened, and manufactured. The new bottle needs time to settle. Fragrances with Oud, Santal, and Vanilla require maturation. For example Oud needs light... santal and Vanilla require time. I've looked at the reviews, and many of those who left them don't have any other reviews on Fragrantica. Personally, I have a bottle in hand, and it’s as it should be. While it may not be fully mature yet, the label clearly indicates it was produced in 2024. Be discerning and avoid making purchases based on misleading claims or marketing.

Truly a beast with enormous silage, projection and longevity. The scent is noticeable, lush and super strong. This uplifts my mood and is powerful compliment getter of all the time. Sweet and dry notes with huge back support of vanilla throughout with ambergris and musk. This one is seductive and highly recommended for the ones who loves vanilla scent with amber powdery feel. However, I suggest you to beware as there has been reformulations of it in heavy way that varies quite much in silage, projection and longevity. Surely, not a blind buy. Try before you buy and check the version too of tester and the product you buy. This is bit expensive in store but you can find huge discounts on time. So, grab a better deal to fit the budget.

Omg I totally get the cheesy vomit smell from one reviewer. Masked by the sweet vanilla you find in almost every vanilla based frag. Nothing new brought to the table. I don't like how the florals are intertwined with the vanilla with very little oud. If anything it may the fault of the strong ambergris. Anyway, still glad I sampled. Not a bad frag but I'd prefer Lune Feline. It's another vanilla bomb and I love my vanilla frags but not when there's a slight vomit smell that never truly leaves. Update: The cheesy vomit smell is dissipating while leaving the vanilla strong and ongoing. Super sweet composition now. Extremely similar to a body oil I own which is, Golden Sand. Still prefer Lune Feline and Golden Sand.

We should not be here to dismiss or undermine anyone’s experience with this fragrance—or its batch GE12949. This is precisely why rigorous quality testing exists. Quality issues, while not uncommon in the business world, must be addressed promptly and decisively, particularly given the premium price point of this product. If the issue lies in maturation, it is the manufacturer’s responsibility to ensure the product is properly processed before it reaches consumers. Anything less is simply unacceptable. It is quite unfortunate for an individual to make such slanderous accusations without possessing proper knowledge of the person to whom they covertly and ignorantly refer. Good day!

I love Dionisio because it is vanilla and I am super mad for vanilla. And this one is my sweetheart now, won my heart completely. My top shelf scent and always on my shelf of course. In a luxurious packed bottle, there is juice full with all love. Opening is strong and natural ambergris with the musk and floral notes of jasmine and lily of valley, supported by vanilla in background. The heart of this lovely fragrance holds my all-time favourite vanilla and oud. Projection of this beauty is strong and longevity is long lasting too. It makes me feel joyful, sensuous, confident and bold. Truly a beastly delight. Be ready to receive several compliments while wearing it. Must try!

Vanilla, vanilla and lots of vanilla with amazing oud, jasmine, ambergris and so on. But what I love the most is vanilla in it. This is such a heart winning scent that may look expensive but considering its beastly performance and amazing scent, this is surely worth it. Luxurious presentation in the heavy, big and black leather box with huge gold medal and the golden light which comes in box when its opened is total fantastic. This illuminates the bottle giving it a pretty charm and make the juice shining bright. This is something I tend to smell before going to bed but apply only on special occasion considering the price

Yesterday, I tested the 2022 sample from Dillard's (I didn't realize there was a difference until reading the comments), and I must say, it was the most impressive scent I came across. Among all the perfumes I smelled, this one caught my attention with its long-lasting effect. The test spray lasted the entire day, and the sillage was enormous. Although it was my first time trying anything from Tiziana Terenzi, I have an extensive collection of perfumes, and I must say, the performance was remarkable. I didn't face any issues with the fragrance, and I plan to buy a travel size before splurging on a full bottle.

• O, my. I'm hooked on these ferromones you can feel for two days :D • Strong and noticeable and very lush scent! Powerfull and I'd say uplifting :) • Here is the same dry and sweet vanillic musc notes that reminds a little of Dolce passione Pantheon Roma only without chocolate opening and some linearity in sweetness of musk and ambergris as in I Profumi del Marmo Portoro. • I have Vanhera and I'd say, that they reminds only if you don't test them together, because Vanhera is very peppery and airywith a hint of bergamote, but Dionisio is very Vanilla, jasmin, lily, musk and ambergris sweet.

First impressions: Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille. Dionisio and Guerlain's seminal vanilla are incredibly similar. I could attempt to describe how they are different, but that would simply be me going in search of differences for their own sake. Perhaps I haven't spent enough time with Dionisio yet, but you could swap out SDV with Dionisio and I suspect all but the most trained noses wouldn't know the difference (P.S. they both smell really good) $AUD370 for the Guerlain or $AUD552 for the Tiziana Terenzi. Hmm... does Le Couvent still make Cologne of the Missions?

I have had the 2022 batch for about 6 months now and it has very solid longevity (I.e. entire work day plus). Not sure why others would be experiencing poor performance. Make sure you purchase from reputable discounters and retailers. I would also recommend 5 or 6 sprays per use as well as a few on clothing (on clothing this lasts like crazy). This fragrance is much more of a sillage beast vs. a projector. I consistently receive compliments and inquiries when walking past or amongst people. Very unique and sexy. One of my absolute favorites.
