Dubhe Assoluto

Tiziana Terenzi's Dubhe Assoluto expanded my consciousness and took me on an unexpected olfactive journey. It is unique, and unlike most other fragrances that I have encountered. Dubhe must be worn on the skin to interact with one's body chemistry. It is the definition of complication in a bottle, an alchemical masterpiece. In this day and age of immediate gratification, Dubhe requires one to take time to experience it, because it changes your perception of your initial encounter with it. Challenging you to be receptive to change and adapt to Dubhe as it evolves. The creator Paolo Terenzi has good reason to be proud of this unique fragrance. Paolo generously shares some of the rare and priceless ingredients from the Terenzi family collection that he inherited from his grandfather over 50 years ago. Tiziana Terenzi is the sister of Paolo, she is the namesake of the company and creative artistic genius. There was no expense spared with the presentation, the design of the bottle with the gold metal logo is simply stunning. Tiziana and Paolo Terenzi are two exceptionally talented Artists, it will be hard to top the effort that was put into the Assoluto collection, I can't wait to see what the future holds for this very special Perfume house, I will be waiting with anticipation to see what's next.

Dubhe, on the paper the usual Oud-Saffron-Rose combo and this might lead to " OMG another one, we are bombarded with these Oud-Floriental stuff"... I know little of TT line and fragrances, I have met Paolo and Tiziana at Esxence, exchanged a brief conversation with Tiziana who introduced me on their Harrod's Oud exclusive which I highly appreciated. Beefore leaving the stand she just suggested i'd try Dubhe as well (as if she understood I was prepared to taste it, maybe because she did notice I am keen on Oud in general).... Well: NOT the usual combo around. Oud in here comes from the family private collection, belonged to their Grandfather. No synth here, no screamy skanky stuff (even if just sprayed you do smell a bit of barn environment)...but after that, a perfect balance of main ingredients, one not overruling the Others and this brings you to the conclusion that, in spite of its expensive price, Dubhe is not only Worth a try, but a purchase, because this is art, this is passion, true passion

A lovely Floriental that is the embodiment of Arabian luxury in a bottle. The perfume opens with notes of saffron, rose, geranium and cypriol. It moves to a heart of orris, gurjun balsam, guaiac, vanilla, and cedar. It settles on a dense powdery base of Laotian Oud, amber, sandalwood, patchouli and musk. The perfume is well blended and unisex, with moderate to strong projection and sillage and very good longevity. Overall, it is not hugely exceptional, but still very regal and luxurious. Enjoy!

For the bold and mature nose. After a few minutes, smells like mossy cambodi oud attar on me. Quality is top notch and very true for oud lovers. Modest projection and great longevity. More favourable towards oud oil lovers than fragrance / spray lovers. Dry down is more aromatic and sweeter, like most oud oils after very potent opening. Shukran Habibi!

I just love it! Wearing it now, Cyprus winter +20. I love oud, any real oud, I feel life in it. This perfume makes me happy, bingo in blind buy. Complements are like "you smell so expensive". Be sure that its unisex, not very strong oud, uplifting for me.

The best ever Oud perfume. Long lasting and a smell which conquers around.

The dry down really resembles BVLGARI KOBRAA. Love this.

hmmm maybe it's just me, but i found this extrait to be incredibly strong to the point it turns me off for the first hour or so of wearing it. not even strong in the projection sense, just... there's just too many smell molecules packed into one space? i dunno. like you can't even pick out what the heck is going on in the beginning. once it mellows out, though, i can see it shine. it's nice and has just a lick of the arabian oud thing going on without much of the challenge that can come from that. but yeah, it can come off as just another rose/oud that you can certainly get at a cheaper price.

It is royal oud fragrance. Woody, funky for a few hours then settles to a more musky on skin. However if this does get on the clothes, it would smell of oud forever (almost).

This is their most oudy fragrance, but whom are they trying to compete with this price? (Go check out Kemi)

This is the most challenging fragrance I have smelt in a very long time. The problem is that the two main notes are oud and balsam. It is a slap in your face, dirty wood kind of intense. I would not want someone smelling of this, sitting next to me on the train. This fragrance is beyond me, perhaps my tastes need to mature more before I retest.

من اسوأ العطور افتتاحيه.. بعد ذلك تتجلى رائحة العود النقي الفاخر لا أعلم لماذا وضعوا تلك الافتتاحيه البائسه والتي جعلتني اتمنى ان يجف العطر فورا من ساعدي ولذلك وضعت عدم الاعجاب به رغم تحوله لرائحة عود جميله.. لكن تبقى الافتتاحيه أمر لا يطاق 5/10

An absolute stunner. Having grown up in Doha, smelling this instantly took me back to the fragrant clouds of stunning fragrance emanating from Arab men in air conditioned malls! This truly captures the essence of the opulent Middle East, at once being slightly animalic, gorgeously rosy, and with a certain something that I can’t quite comprehend, a magical x ingredient that distinguishes this from any other oud rose combo I’ve tried. It starts of with a slightly medicinal, animalic blast of Oud and saffron. Soon a dark, potent, almost slushy rose envelopes everything. It then settles down into a smoky, ambery, incense rose oud, but, the quality of the oud here is outstanding. Mind you, this does change its character quite a bit with the weather. I would wear this on cold dry days. Unlike many others here who have speculated the quality and the source of oud notes here, I can tell you that this is absolutely top notch oud. To my horror I tried on a couple of sprays of montales black aoud on one of the days during the week when I was testing this one, and I almost gagged. This stuff throws most ouds to shame. Honestly, I would pick this over Roja’s Aoud any day! Hats off Paolo and Tiziana!

I realise this is not really a review, but there doesn't seem to be a big space issue with this one. But I'm wondering now what this white oud is. Not many perfumes contain it, according to the lists here. Is it something significantly different? And as to thd price - I also would have baulked at one time, but now I do consider it to be possible for some of these real oud perfumes to be worth it, at least in the sense that you will not get a true substitute for less. But I do feel that this attraction is an extremely dangerous one! . . But Kemi is a new one in my book: I'll certainly check them out if I get the chance. @drouhin Thank you for your answer. But I am appalled at the idea!! Would a manufacturer really do that, considering everything you hear about the increasing rarity of oud and how gorgeous and nuanced a smell the good stuff has: put out a £600 bottle of perfume with real oud in ... and then put synthetic on top!!? The thumbnail image for white oud on this page does seem to suggest though that it might be some natural variant: a picture of a cross-section of an infected trunk or branch, but looking kind of ... pale.

"I think my favorite fragrance from the Assoluto Collection is this one. I'm quite fond of Oud-based scents. I tried Alioth at first and although I liked it, I already have another fragrance with a similar profile. It's similar to More Than Words and Ombre Nomad but with less smokiness. I'm getting a bit tired of the sweet saffron and jammy rose oud combination because I already have a lot of similar fragrances in my collection. Luckily, before leaving, I tried Dubhe. I fell in love with it at first spray. This is the Oud-based fragrance I've been looking for. If you don't like Oud, you should stay away from it. It's quite dry and balsamic but it's very well-blended and feels very luxurious. From this line, the longevity isn't an issue. They all last a long time on your clothes and even on your skin. I’m only wearing a tiny bit on my wrist because I was gifted a small 1.5 Ml and it’s potent. It’s my first impression and it’s only been 30 minutes but Dubhe is gorgeous! It’s very well blended but I’m experiencing a tart, dry, fruity oud- it’s sort it reminding me of the sexy jasmine infused oud of Alien Musc Mysterieux and the syrupy Plum and woods of Atelier des Ors Rouge Saray but elevated. It’s quite piercing and utterly intoxicating! Wow

Dubhe is an oud dominant fragrance. To my nose the oud here is very fecal. I see this fragrance on a man who is a very high executive or has an important decision maker and is wearing a well-tailored suit. I do not see this fragrance worn casually. The performance is really good for this one. Only a small amount lasted for a long time and projected moderately, just right to be present and not be too overpowering or bothersome to others.

@YYY Delilah: "white" is often perfumer's shorthand for "synthetic". Many, but not all, synthetics are indeed at least colorless. I would anticipate "white oud" refers simply to one of the oud synthetics in wide use, Givaudan's or Firmenich's.

Cambodian oud that settles to saffron, rose, bokhoor (Arabian incense) simple and easy with a touch of red sweetness. Cute but really overpriced for such blend, GCC has much similar with quarter the quarter price of this one.

One of the house's most beautiful perfumes, well worth its price. A distinctive oriental fragrance.
