Rosso Pompei

Another Terenzi blind buy success! This opens with the fuzzy grapefruit amber found in Tygar but a little bit brighter and more citric. You can detect the grapes too. They provide a nice fruity fresh supporting note, without being syrupy or overbearing. This is not a super complex fragrance and it doesn’t evolve a lot over its lifespan. A couple hours in, it becomes more centered on the ambergris and woods, mixed with some white florals in the background. I could see how some people may perceive the dry down as metallic, but off my skin i don’t really pick it up. Nowhere near as metallic as some other ambergris centric fragrances (looking at you sauvage). Despite being called Rosso Pompei (translates to Pompeii red), I would categorize this more or less as a blue scent. A fresh citrus opening with an ambergris woody dry down. Performance is great too, I get about 5-6 hours of longevity before it’s a skin scent. Is it worth retail price? Hell no, but if you do your research and buy from the right place, you can get a fair bit of this brands catalog for less than what you would pay for most designer scents from macys or Nordstrom nowadays. Got this one for $120 and I am very happy with my purchase. I love Terenzi bottles because the caps can double as a nice paperweight too. 9/10

I’ve been wearing this for almost a year and it smells different on different days, humidity levels, seasons etc. Right now in 70 degrees it smells like an elevated Lime soda or sprite with a dusty/fizzy ambroxan, ambergris wood type base and I can’t detect any sweetness. However In the fall I wasn’t getting the sharpness of the citruses but instead a fruity, juicy fruit and floral I couldn’t pinpoint. This is a compliment monster even at the times I wasn’t enjoying it. It projects and it Lasts. This would be a good gift for someone who doesn’t obsess over what fragrance to wear... if you stand in front of a tower of fragrances for 5 minutes deciding what to wear then you would probably skip this for something that you perceive as more striking but trust me this is one of your best players.

Tygar is made from Ginger Grapefruit Ambroxan and Wood. Rosso Pompei, on the other hand, made from several grapefruit varieties, lemon, many flowers and several wood varieties, including maple, ginger and ambroxan, is missing here, which plays a major role in Tygar. so apart from grapefruit, the two perfumes have nothing in common, the grapefruit doesn't smell the same. Rosso Pompei is a much more complex fragrance, in the drydown maple has an important role that together with a powerful grape and the various citrus fruits results in an amazing fragrance. Durability 24 hours and the sillage goes miles against the wind, Tygar is a wimp folks. Buy Rosso Pompei if you want a strong fresh fruity scent and Tygar if you have the money and want to re-spray the scent every few hours

Definitely heavily inspired by Tygar..I’ll go through the differences.. the grapefruit in this is more sour and bitter and not really candy like..you could say more realistic but not necessarily more enjoyable,it’s a bit similar to the grapefruit accord in D&G light blue forever/italian love. It lasts long into the dry down..Rosso Pompei has more complexity..it’s darker,woodier,I even get some hints of oud,along with the animalic and salty facets of ambergris (which i truly feel like it contains). Tygar is greater in its simplicity,it’s smoother,it’s fizzier,and overall more enjoyable for me but try this one too,if you get it for a good price I’d say it’s worth it. Performance is excellent for both,12h+

Rosso Pompei is honestly a fantastic fragrance. The opening is juicy grape with citrusy grapefruit that smells really good. After a few minutes, it settles into a beautiful woody scent that’s smooth, rich, and very addictive. I own Afnan Turathi and Panorama from The Woods Collection, and to me, Rosso Pompei is on a completely different level. The quality and performance are easily ten times better. Going back to Turathi after smelling Rosso Pompei, it just feels syntactic and cheap😒. I’m genuinely happy to have this scent profile in my collection now. The quality is excellent, the performance is amazing, and it finally gives me the experience I was hoping for.

For the people saying side by side this doesn't smell like Tygar put an asterisk by their name. It smells exactly like Tygar/Vibrato, etc. The difference is in the opening Pompei ads some spice to the grapefruit. In the dry down they smell very similar but once again Pompei deviates a little with giving off a ginger ale/soda vibe. If you love the Tyga grapefruit genre but want something that has a little more excitement, this is it. Just an amazing smell so really not sure why this is getting the rating it has but other Tygar related fragrances are scoring much higher lol

I understand that this is a women’s fragrance, but I honestly think a guy should not be afraid to use it. There’s nothing too feminine about this orange soda fragrance 😂 should be sold as a unisex fragrance. It smells fresh and uplifting though it’s a rather linear orange soda from opening to drydown with somewhat stellar longevity (6 sprays easily lasts 12 hours). It works really well in tropical climate like Jakarta. You can also share this fragrance with your wife/husband. What I don’t like about this fragrance is the price.

Its closer to sospiro vibrato than tygar , or it sits between them also its more complex and changing with time giving very non linear fragrance with less price than both i think its very elegant and handsome perfume performance is in the way of making a smooth and nice cloud around the body and leave a very good trail for 2.5 to 3 hours strongly , then tend to close to the skin . longevity is also good its a perfume that make NOSEBLOCK to the person wearing it. Sillage : 8.5/10 Longevity : 8/10 Scent : 8.5/10

On initial spray you get the citrus and fruity scents . But as it dries down you're hit with the amber, woody notes, patchouli. This is so good . This is a 11/10. A little goes a long way. The longevity is 24hrs or more (for me), sillage is moderate to strong. Most fragrances from the house of Tiziana Terenzi are amazing when it comes to performance. If you dont have it, go grab it!! You will thank me later!!

This smells like a fruity and more sweet Version of Tygar by Bvlgari. It also has some Roja Burlington Vibes going on. Very upflifting, sweet, fruity, juicy fragrance. I like it a lot! The grape note in here is also very prominent. I don’t like Terenzi fragrances, but this is awesome. Performance is good, not exceptional but it gets the job done. 8h longevity and good sillage.

It was my next blind buy but I am happy of that !!! Can be worn as a unisex with excellent performance. Never chooke anybody even if you will overspray this nice and delicius perfume. I have also Kirke from this house but Rosso is way more versitale. Waiting for hot summer to check once again performance. This is masterpiece performance and silage

I cannot understand the people who don’t smell the sweetness in this. It is bubbly, effervescent— like a Roman wine jumped out of a fresco in a Pompeian villa. The people I demonstrate this to in-store compare it to a ginger ale smell. Did any of you have Covid and lose your sense of sweetness?

Hate it or love it, this is damn good. Explosive woods and citruses that just encompass you in this beautiful radiant shiny bubble that will last a long time. Definitely getting those sweet grapes. This is fantastic. 🍋🍊🍇

great fragrance it smells like fruit juice.

My wife called this a "Dark Vibrato" so let me explain. Resemblance? Very small, with just the citrus/ambroxan appeal in the opening, followed by white flowers and some woody notes. Similar vibe? I disagree but can see why some may think that, though much more in a Tygar was than Vibrato even, just not as bright and definitely with more nuance. Rosso Pompei is a much darker scent, meant to be the clashing of two words: heavy and light, light and dark. This to me smells like a darker/night-hunting cousin to Vibrato/Tygar. The citrus is bitter and not refreshing-invigorating, and the flowers just give it somewhat of a softer approach. This is dark though, with the woods lending it this masculine vibe that I would very much dislike on any woman. In closing, GRAPES. Man, interesting addition to this, lending it no juiciness nor fruity (typical daily wear) vibe, just sweetness from a slightly unripe grape. This is a citrus fragrance that, of course can be worn in the heat, but I'd much rather wear it in the colder months - perhaps even spring and summer nights, and surely fall and winter days. Performance is great. I got over 9h on skin in every wear. Projects more than a typical extrait and lingers quite well in the air, so pretty good sillage. Chokes me out in closed quarters for the first 2h. Definitely leans more masculine and, for about what I paid ~US$90 on my tester, this is quite the buy.

I was really interested in this one because of the notes and couldn’t find a review of it on YouTube, so I almost blind bought it. Luckily I was able to get a free sample and smell it and it’s a really nice fragrance. This is basically Terenzi’s rendition of the Bvlgari Tygar DNA. I really really like this but glad I didn’t blind buy it because I already own Turathi Blue, another Bvlgari Tygar clone I love, and this smells extremely similar to it. So if you like Tygar but want a more affordable niche option if you don’t already own it, this is a nice choice. But if you already have a clone like me with Turathi Blue (A damn good clone at that) this is really redundant. Still as it’s own scent it’s very pleasant and easy to wear. Mostly a fizzy/sparkling fresh grapefruit that’s not too sour or sweet. With some woods giving it some backbone. Really easy to wear and I could see men or woman wearing this in the warmer months. 8/10

There's an opening hit of orange, before the scent settles into something that's hard to describe as anything else than "perfume". It's a little dry-woody, ambroxan, citrus, spicy. But nothing in the mix sticks out as a smell I recognize from the real world. It's like a hodge-podge of man-made smells blended into one blob without anything sticking out or making a clear impression. It's neither unpleasant nor exciting. So for anyone thinking this fragrance somehow managed to capture eternal-lasting orange soda, it didn't. There is a somewhat citric tone that extends into the dry-down, but mostly this smells like a nondescript synthetic-ambroxan-superamber bomb.

vibrato/tygar opening with sparkling grape soda. Projection is a little insane, keep it to 2 sprays maximum. Scent lasts very long for me. The only thing I wish was a little better was the dry down. Dry down is very masculine, and woody. I wish it was a bit less woody, less bitter and retain the sweetness. Overall solid 8/10

The grapes stand out to me in the opening. But it is certainly fresh. Settles to nice white flowers. Then a slight patchouli and wood base. Very light. The sample I had barely projected but lasted for several hours. Very enjoyable. My first sample from the house. Look forward to more.

This was the first Tiziana Terenzi fragrance I’ve tried and I was shook at first sniff. It has hardcore projection and intense longevity. I think I kinda love it, but it also smells just like Naranga Achar (Indian lime pickle), so it’s a toss up for me.

Rich in citrus and wood, with amazing performance for such a citrusy fragrance. It might be a love/hate, so test before purchase. I got it for 120euros, I'd say it's a good price for this fragrance but expensive for this kind of profile.

Very unisex and very much smells like Tygar. Citrus, florals, and ambroxan make up most of the scent. What sets it apart from Tygar and its clones is the fruity grape note.

Beautiful citrus opening and pleasant woody base. Uplifting, fresh and exciting scent that makes me think of a Mediterranean holidays.

The opening is very citrusy, true grapefruit but unsweetened. The sweet grapes not detectable. The heart is missing on me. I feel maybe a drop of magnolia. 1/2 hour in and the very woody base appears with many species of trees, cedar the most notable. With ambergris the woods feel unisex, masculine leaning because it is completely not sweet. It is good, but masculine on me, more and more so with time. The harsh woody tone of the whole has some resemblance to Baccarat Rouge 540 which is masculine in my opinion. Tygar is completely different, more oriental and darker. Like Baccarat Rouge this is persistent, lasts clearly around 12 hours, in the morning I only feel it on my clothes that it infiltrated. For a male searching for something aromatic and unsweetened. For a refreshing, aromatic citrusy start and woody finish.

Starts out as a pleasant grape and effervescent citrus mixer; not on par with Tyger. Turns into a nauseating, femme makeup bomb with no particular discernible notes. Pungent. This is what ‘Sex Panther’ must smell like. An over the top deodorant mixed with B/O and that indescribable zest from Narcotica that cuts through everything. 🤢

It definitely has that Tiziana Terenzi DNA. Unfortunately for me it is too similar to others in this range. I don’t get the “grape” hmm, I do get floral, kinda citrus amber.

Don’t like it at all. Wanted to try Tiziana perfumes, but luckily this was just a sample, not the whole bottle. Smells like pharmacy with combination of metals. And it actually stays long, which is not good when you want it off.

Sorry to all of you who love this but it is a hard no for me. I strongly dislike oud and that is all I get with this. The dry down is a bit less off-putting. Thankfully, I only got a decant! Also, this is VERY masculine to me...

Just can't vibe with that Tiziana DNA. Smells cheap to me, all of them. This one smells like a public bathroom after it is done getting cleaned.

A bit ago I encountered Tiziana Terenzi at Heathrow duty free, and being that I am a marketing exec's wet dream, I was taken by their big beautiful paperweight-like bottles. Didn't have time to test them all, but I recall loving Kirke and maybe Cassiopea. A couple of weeks ago I received a package of samples, three of which were Terenzi. I think that it was the high of traveling that led me to believe I had discovered a fabulous new house because the samples have made me question whether or not I was actually just bonked on the head that day. The samples are a reminder that I am a sucker. A sucker for Italian, a sucker for packaging, and a sucker for exotic-sounding names. Rosso Pompei! Moro de Venezia! So romantic, eh? No. Rosso Pompei was pleasant on first whiff. Compared to the other two Terenzi samples, Moro de Venezia and Cas, Rosso Pompei IS pleasant, but that is where it stops. The scent lingers. And it gets more and more metallic. I know this because I just spilled the entire sample onto my hands ten minutes ago. And it will not disappear after five hand washing sessions with five different strongly fragranced soaps. Even Lava, that ole reliable pumice soap, cannot destroy the scent of Rosso Pompei. Fitting, I suppose. I cannot make out the rest of its notes because the metal is overwhelming. If I try to touch my cat right now, he will surely whack me in the face. I am not clever, but should the threat of another Vesuvius eruption threaten Pompei, just spritz the crater with this, and I'm confident the lava will stay down the volcano!

i was excited to try this scent. heard and read many great reviews. but i once i sprayed it on, i was extremely disappointed. there's something in it this fragrance i find very unpleasant and bitter smelling. not sure what it is, but i really don't like it. thank god i only ordered a sample of it, so i didn't throw a bunch of money away on this monstrosity

WOW ! I I’ve been this site for five years now but never decided to sighn up to give a review but today is the day Russo pompei and silk mood extrait made me want to give a review . This is amazing fragrance I love it so much the citrus at the top is beautiful I agree the grapes are prominent at the type but I love love love it. I love all the notes in this especially the dry down I love white flowers so it’s right up my lane . I also love the woodiness of it to its so smooth .it’s moved it way up to my number 2 spot because I see it being my signature scent it is quite pricey but not as pricey as my old number 2 spot baccarat rouge 540 extrait which is very pricey. My number one spot belongs to MFK oud silk mood extrait that’s a different beast tho .I really see my self getting a second bottle of this I am hoping to find it discounted on fragrance x but they still don’t have it I paid 150 for terenzi Orion at fragrance x and it was legit because I compared using the samples I got from neimans but this bottle of the Russo Pompei I had to pay about 360 after taxes at neimans. I think ambergris is what makes this one so expensive but man does it do the trick . I will give this one 9 out ten just because it’s a fantastic fragrance the longevity is good 9 out of ten and silage I will give it an 8 out of ten .but over all great fragrance I’m impressed.

As soon as I smelled it I fell in love, I was hit with a powerful but pleasant blast of fruity citrusy grape for the first few minutes that reminded me the opening of Tygar,but much more complex, RP has so many more layers of complexity that makes it far superior than Tygar. Five minutes later I started to smell something that reminded me of my childhood in Mendoza, Argentina, it was that intoxicating perfume that to my nose smelled just like muscatel grapes mixed with some white flowers and a mild citrus in the back, after that a flowery,woodsy musky,fruity blend stays for the duration of the fragrance that , to my surprise, when I went to the gym, all the juicy fruitiness came back alive as my body temperature rose. A truly remarcable fragrance. I already feel an emotional attachment to this beautiful fragrance that evokes beautiful feelings of comfort just like a beautiful simphony. Thank you Paolo and Tiziana Terenzi for putting so much love and dedication to create this beautiful masterpiece. I don’t know why fragrantica has this as a “women’s “ fragrance but I’m a 200lb ,bearded 51 year old dude and this fragrance is as sexy and masculine as you wanted to be, just wear it with confidence.

I finally got this and I really love love and love it.. On me, this one smell starts effervescent like a sprite on ice with lemon and grapefruits, settles overall into refreshing a hint of white floral water. The lemon is present from the initial top note through the drydown.They should call this a lemon on ice.. It smells nice and refreshing to my nose with a great performance. It gives me so much confidence.

Citrus sweet rose.. "Rosso Pompei" is a slightly sour with sweet roses, ambergris, tuberose, sandalwood, and light patchouli. I get some saffron, Turkish, & Bulgarian roses, cedar, & bits of geranium. This blend is for those who enjoys the light Arabian style blends mixed with European essential oils. I believe this could be one of their best sellers for it's easy to wear factor.

Tygar/Vibrato like fragrance with nuclear performance. I mean, keeps insects and small animals away! :) A little woodier and less sparkly (no ginger here) but very close in essence to the Tygar scent profile as many on the market right now. More masculine to me...

this is 🔥. will definitely be buying this soon. no idea what vibrato smells like but i can say this is definitely better than l’immensite as that’s also thrown into the comparison of the 3. i’d put this right next to tygar, love it. 9.01/10

Side by side Rosso Pompei does not smell like Tygar. Tygar = Vibrato. RP does have a strong dates (fruit) scent. I could like it but on my skin it turns medicinal. Longevity is 12hr plus.

This to me smells a worse version of the Tygar DNA. I would prefer Vibrato over any of the fragrances of this type of DNA. 6/10
