Ombre Verte

Seeing reviews comparing this to Vetiver is a bit strange given this is not vetiver nor is it supposed to be one. In fact, I feel that stating that this starts off as powdery is incredibly misguided - it does not. The first olfactory notes that you instantly notice are peppery cypress and very subtle hints of grapefruit bubbling underneath. And once the bouquet opens up, you start noticing the light sweetness, bits of vetiver and, finally, cedar wood. It in fact has a scent of fresh cypress forest after a brisk shower. Ombre Verte also has quite the longevity and stands out on its own due to its citrus and cedar woody notes. If you want a Vetiver, go for Hermes' Vetiver Tonka. If you want something different in which vetiver only plays a part amongst many other scents, I highly recommend this Ombre Verte.

Really enjoyed my sample of it. Soft whiffs of vetiver that is perfectly earthy and clean smelling. Added citrusy bitterness takes it to more pour homme direction in the opening, but drydown is perfectly woody and unisex. Thumbs up for this one.

Great alluring vetiver. Vetiver is hidden behind woods with hint of flowers. Great skin scent.

Strange smell but I still like it. Male. I can smell somewhat the vetiver and possibly cypress too but nothing more. Unless the "cypress" green is more like a combination of different things. I like vetiver scents a lot but this one is too different from those so for me it isn't really a vetiver scent. The green part is what makes this strange and muffles the vetiver. 5/5 for originality, at least for my nose experience. I feel that this could be used by car mechanics people because it reinforces and matches the overall oily-rusty-metallic smells (which is not bad for me). I can tolerate it better on my shirt, it was a bit too much on my hand. Reminds me Montale Vetiver des Sables but that one is much better. Vetiver des Sables gives me a picture of a big and old, abandoned metal shipwreck in the shore, Ombre Verte smells like an old rusty and mossy metal cross in the graveyard.

The notes are well balanced; an original combo I don't feel like defining it a vetiver perfume. At first wearing this could be a masculine perfume also suitable for women; remains slightly powdery, but urge to try it again

Opens powdery. Dries down to vetiver. You get a bit of grapefruit at the top, but the citrus is weak. If you want a vetiver, you could do a lot better than this IMO. It's pleasant but nothing special.
