Todd Oldham

Several years ago when my great grandmother died, I discovered this perfume among others while rummaging through her possessions. I loved it so so much, it was deep, slightly spicy, rich and sweet to me. It made me feel like a grown up (I was 15 at the time). I asked my grandpa if I could keep a bottle as there were 5 of them. He said yes, and I remember being so happy to have my own bottle of this delicious perfume. I was so deeply in love with it to the point where I sprayed it on nearly everything I owned! Not surprisingly, my friends would tell me I smelled like an old woman but I didn't care! I was so sad when more than half of it leaked all over the bottom of my purse. I think part of the reason I was so infatuated with it was because it reminded me of her; it smelled amazing on her skin and the fact she had more than one bottle of it makes me think she loved it just as much as I did. Today I rediscovered this (my mother had a bottle under her sink!) and I've fallen in love with it all over again! I don't detect any bergamot, mandarin orange, or rose. On my skin this is a lovely sweet oriental with lots of peach, musk, cinnamon and amber. Somehow I feel comforted while wearing it; like being wrapped in a super soft blanket. This is definitely a scent best worn in the fall/winter. I think this would be perfect for an evening out as it is quite sexy and men seem to really like it! I'm stocking up on this as soon as possible!

This is among my top ten favorite perfumes ever, a miraculously lovely (and potent!)concoction of gourmand, spicy and woodsy scents, with exceptional sillage and tenacious lasting power. I have gone through at least 10 big bottles of eau de parfum and 15 smaller bottles, and I know why, despite its fabulousness, it never made it "big": the atomizers never work. They will work for the first few sprays, and then never work again, no matter what you do to them. I have had to laboriously remove the glued on top piece with acetone and pliers and decant them into other perfume containers in order to wear them, and its worth all the bother for the amazing perfume. Todd Oldham is definitely not discreet "office perfume", indeed, it isn't discreet at all, but it has elicited a ton of compliments from everyone, from little children to older people. If there was one perfume that I have worn in my life that I would consider my "signature", Todd Oldham would be the one. It makes me sad that it is so very hard to find now, even among online retailers, but I will keep buying any and all I find.

I got this perfume for very cheap on eBay (it's possible to find it for as little as $3!) and I'm so glad I took a chance on it. I really had no idea what to expect, but that is half of the excitement from blind buying scents! I was very pleasantly surprised. The bottle is very cute and understated, the color is a deep amber that reminds me of apple juice. I put a splash on my wrists and went about my afternoon grocery shopping. Every time I reached out to grab something off of the shelf, I smelled this beautiful concoction and I have to say that I am HOOKED. It's very feminine and very mature. Classy would be a good word to describe it. A deep spicy smell with faint sweetness, like someone said above, reminiscent of bananas and caramel. I just love it so much that I'm going to buy some more so that I don't run out any time soon because I see myself wearing this a lot in the near future.

I did not think I would like this because of the fruity notes, but I love it. It opens with a sweet almost orange blossom which must be the fruits and jasmine. Then, you get this lovely smoke quality. It literally smells like smoke in clothes and amber. This is much more than I expected. The fruits are supporting and the musk is there. The sandalwood and patch help dry it out a bit to keep it from the syrupy top. But, all the way through is amber and smoke. I wish I had bought more than a mini! I figured out the smoke. It is the real, dirty jasmine. Not the syrupy fake sweet kind. This is jasmine like in ELDO Jasmin et Cigarette or Atelier Jasmin Angelique but balanced by the fruits and amber. Lovely.

This is the O.G. This was my first foray into deep, rich, sweet and spicy scents back in the 90s. I worked at a small magazine and our office was so small and bland. The highlight of my day was when one of my coworkers would walk past me wearing this. I finally asked her what it was and when she told me Todd Oldham I found it and bought it immediately. It was SO strong and so loud but so sexy, sweet, and gorgeous. I bought two bottles at one time. I went through them and miss them dearly. I see some on eBay at crazy prices but unfortunately I’m about to give in to get back a small piece of fragrance nostalgia. It’s worth it. I love this very spicy oriental with touch of jasmine. Strong, lasting & good sillage which I definately prefer. A bit gothic? yes On me the cinnamon, amber, benzoin steal the show, the jasmine, patcholi & musk are there as backup dancers. The fruits are just peeking in on the party. The rose is hiding out somewhere else as I dont smell it at all. One more thing I love is that the mini bottles have a screw on lid instead of the stopper that has to be pulled out as I usually make a mess of those and I worry that they will either be so tight I that cant get them open or they will loosen and open when I dont want them to..

On me, it starts as a super-duper vanilla. Way too much at first almost, but eventually drys down beautifully - then comes the cinnamon, spice and smokiness - with some type of subtle fruit, I think... although I just dont know what that may be. Its makes me want to stick my nose in my shirt and sniff myself all day long, shamelessly.. It can be heavy. Smells nice next morning when you wake up in winter and want to be cuddly. Ive had two bottles for years that I havent gotten through and the scent remains the same/has held up extremely well after 10 plus years.

I had this perfume in the very late 90's around 98-99 and I still remember the fragrance. It was very cheap then and I wish I could find it today. I do want to point out that Rihanna's Reab Fleur (spell check) the black bottle reminds me so much of it. You get a vanilla note in it yet its very strong as well, I bet this fragrance was the inspiration to that perfume. If you remember this scent from the 90's and smell Rihanna's perfume, you'll be reminded of it.

Someone mentioned wearing this to a funeral. Someone else mentioned a graveyard? Ok I get it. It smells like that oil they cross on your forehead in the church, when you're getting baptised and confirmed. Kind of a sacred smell, and a perfume a ghost might wear... BUT I like it! It's churchy. So unusual, like nothing else in my collection, and I think this is a necessary addition. It really does work. Everything comes together perfectly to smell kinda holy :)

Wow, I really love this fragrance. I bought my bottle around 2000, and it still smells as fantastic now as it did then. It's sad that it's apparently no longer produced, because it is heavenly. That big, bold, spicy opening; the fruity/floral middle, and then a soft, smoky finish that lingers all day. I guess I'll be saving this for special occasions from now on. Please Todd, please get this divine fragrance back into production!

Wow, quite the stunner! Lightly soapy thickly sweet fruity florals with strong resinous accents. The peach is the most dominant. A shame there's only 0.2 oz bottle available, I've stocked up on a few, but I would gladly welcome full-size bottle re-release (though no reformulation). Projects intensely on my skin, looks like it'll last the whole day. Perfect for cool/cold weather.

Mini edp review. Visiting an old friend. Todd Oldham wonderful designs emerged in the 90s chic. Little quirky, bohemian and fun. 90s in its opening peachy fruity vibe, florals and incense myrrh woody notes. Its an overlooked gem. Great for someone wants a heavier twist on the peachy fruity vibe and something unique. Very stylish in its compositon.

Such a weird scent. Jasmine, peach, and much more that to me is indescribable. Try this if you’re tired of everything you have and want something different. Nothing out of hundreds of my perfumes smells like this. The bottle is cool too with the Jughead-style cap.

I simply LOVE this perfume. It smell like Angel but with more spice...it seems to have a bit of cumin mixed in with the cinnamon, although it isn't noted in the fragrance description. I think it smells quite beautiful, lasts a very long time on the skin.

Oh how I loved this ambery devine concoction. I miss you my old friend. Everybody needs to experience this wonderful elixir once. Boy was Oldham ever ahead of his time and I mean in a BIG bodacious way . Kudos to Todd !

I absolutely adore the luscious peach pie 🥧 fragrance! It's my go-to scent, especially during the winter season. The fruity, cinnamon, and sweet aroma is so warm and comforting. It's simply irresistible!

One of my favorites in the 90's ... amber, woody, just amazing. I wish I could find it now but have not been able to.

After seeing the love that people have for this fragrance, (and my own adoration for Todd Oldham as a designer), I did a blind buy of the mini. I am far from disappointed. Mercurial and elusive, I find myself sniffing my wrist periodically to get my fix of this sublimely strange scent. It's hard to define this fragrance. The opening is an overripened peachy, spicy, woody bomb, that moves to heavy jasmine with a slight hint of rose...but the dry drown...the dry down is where the magic is. The opening notes and heart lead to this supremely sexy, golden, sandalwood, amber musk. It has a decent sillage, not an overwhelming projection **but** because of the composition of this scent, I would wear it in open spaces, in fall or winter....at an autumn hayride in upstate New York...or in a smokey dive bar where the liquor is cheap and the cover band is playing 90's grunge. Also...men love it. Go figure.

I received this in a great swap with a generous vintage-loving member. This is just so so interesting. This is one of the most interesting, complex compositions that I own, and it can be found for just over $20 on the discount sites now. In the heart, I get a very slight cumin/caraway note which is awesome. I think I smell oak moss too, throughout. Just a bit, but it could be a mossiness in the patchouli. The jasmine is the predominant flower in here. Is there any chance that this has real sandalwood? I'm sensitive about fruit in perfume, but this is a dry and savory fruit, well-blended with all of the earthiness. What a fabulous perfume. Cool bottle too. My husband's runner-up-to-favorite of all. Edit to add: I am now testing the reissue of "Visa". Very similar to this, if less musty/earthy.

Fairy tale of a scent- gets me to thinking of flurry wings and forest little men (this is probable because of a pronounced bergamot and sandal). I find Todd Oldham predominantly woody with a touch of oriental flowers. There are a lot of fruit in the description - I'm quite surprised, I detect none at all other than bergamot. Very comforting and totally non-exciting scent (meant in a good way). Perfect for wearing "for yourself" when at home, or when feeling blue. Another scent "just for me" when I need some comfort and don't want to make a statement is Arabie Lutens, those are not similar, but have some similarities in the effect they make on me. I have a mini of Todd Oldham, and for now this is just enough - winter is almost over, and winter is the time when I mostly reach for this perfume.

I was very keen to try this one out as I love peachy scents. However, intially it has a very strong indian floral hit that fades within half an hour. I have to agree with some of the comments I've seen about banana... though I only smell the banana when I inhale it deeply from skin. Generally, it seems to float around with a beautiful, creamy cinnamon, bergamot and patchouli aroma. And, there is a mild, yet sweet fruitiness that I think is from the musk. (just can't be sure) Absolutly perfect to be wearing some 4 days before Christmas. Also reminds me of something I've worn in the late 80's early 90's, that I suspect was common at the time. Can't quite put my finger on what is was. Personally, I like it. I cannot detect any peach though.

Todd Oldham on me at first smells intensely sweet/sour & fruity. Then it dries down to more of a jasmine and benzoin fragrance with patchouli and some fruity accords. I don't know if there is officially banana in this, but something smells like banana. For that reason I don't get the funeral / church comments. Funerals smell like lilies and church smells like incense. Not bananas. If I had smelled this in 1995 when it first came out I would have pretty much been floored by how different it is from a lot of other scents that were popular at the time. Reminds me of something from my childhood that I can't quite put my finger on. I want to say it might be a slight candy cigarette accord. It's very strong. Apply with a light hand.

Wow! Even though this is from the 90's, it can easily compete with spicy powerhouses from previous eras, like Opium (the original), Tigress and Cinnabar. After the initial blast of spices subsides, this becomes a bit more green and very woody, while still maintaining its inherent spiciness. I get no sweetness from this at all, and the floral notes are so faint, I really have to pay attention to notice them. The jasmine is soft and lovely and contributes a faint powdery undertone at the drydown, but it is very easily missed. Overall I would call this a very woody, spicy oriental. I think this can be easily worn by a man. I am a spice lover, but I would not recommend anyone blind buy this.

Yes, yes, I still have my big bottle of Todd Oldham, something I received in a swap back in about 2001-ish. A year or two after I received it I wore it while out with my now ex-husband and a few friends. We wound up drinking a good bit and then entertaining ourselves with several rounds of karaoke, and each time I sniff the T.O. cap I think of that one-off, lighthearted, whimsical night. It's fitting. T.O. is fun, brash, bold, unique, yet familiar, bohemian, and evocative of a borrowed mink-collared overcoat from the late 60s, worn by a lady who made the rounds from cocktail parties to head shops. Wear it today and I guarantee, you'll turn heads one way or another.

Like other reviewers have stated, TO is an unusual perfume. At the first try there seemed to be a violet note, on the second the violets fade and are replaced by slightly musty fruits. It's a strange combo that becomes more appealing over time. TO has modest sillage and lasting power. This perfume is mercurial, never quite the same as before. The balsamic and ambery notes are quite lovely, if not as pronounced as I'd like. In any case I'm glad to have tried this unusual scent. It's too bad there's only one perfume by Todd Oldham, this one seems to have many fans though.

I tested my sample, 3 times. Each time, the scent changed some. The first testing the scent was very fruity and very sweet. The second testing the scent became resinous, spicy, and gooey. The woody notes came through. The third testing, the scent was a more gentle feeling, the spicyness was soft, the sweetness not so pronounced. The scent did not last long on my skin, on a hot day. I was waiting so long to test this fellow! I am a bit dissapointed, it's not the extreme being I thought it would be, but likeable and lovely.

Still on my quest for my fave vintage Oriental. This is pretty good! A lil soapy, but the spice I'm looking for is there! I don't get the peach at all though. Maybe it's just so well blended.

This perfume sure does have a lot in common with Angel and Prada. On my skin strangely enough, Todd's perfume is this crazy intense wood scent at first. It smells so 'foresty' if that is even a word. Then some of the gourmand notes kick in. A complex perfume but just so odd. I think, like Angel in particular, this is a love it or hate it perfume. It's strong, lasts forever, and is one I have received few compliments on but have received several comments regarding the fact that 'someone smells like a Christmas tree in here!". I do like this perfume because it is interesting but this is not one to be worn in close quarters. It's too big of a fragrance for that.

I turned one of my 5 minis into a mini spray. Woah is it strong! Too strong for me. It has an 80s vibe although it came out in 95'. I'm getting durian and tamarind as fruit notes rather than the banana and melon other reviewers mention. Durian is a stinky fruit. If you haven't tried durian,consider yourself fortunate. I am nauseated. I've never felt nauseated from a perfume before. Whatever notes that are creating this durian and tamarind smell to me is giving Todd Oldham a spicy indian food vibe. I am not a fan of indian food either so this is a pass for me. I can see someone with ecsentric taste in perfumes to be fond of Todd Oldham. I have and had banana and melon perfumes and each one has been a love at one time or another. I don't smell banana or melon. Seems to me that more exotic fruits like durian and tamarind are part of the mix. Another mistake of a blind buy based on rave reviews. Only pennies wasted but it ruined my evening. By the way,it smells the same on my cloths. Not just to me but to the guests i had over too lol.

This smells of creamy vanilla and bananas to me.Bananas?!! Bananas aren't mentioned in the list of notes but,too me,for the first 15 minutes it's the overriding aroma.After this it settles into a cinnamon/woody vanilla.Very different.Very comforting.Would be very special if the scent didn't fade so quickly.Lack of longevity lets this fragrance down massively.Todd Oldham is my most frustrating dissapointment.I so wanted it to be my signature,but I can't give dressing-table room to a quick fader..It's not my style.

Intense, incense-like, heady, and full-bodied. For me it was also overpowering and a bit nauseating. It smelled old, reminded me of dusty tapestries with a middle-eastern, oriental vibe. Definite lasting power. Does anyone else notice the similarity with CK's Obsession? I would say Obsession is a bit sweeter than Oldham. My TO mini's up for grabs if anyone wants it. :)

I read the reviews and decided to try it. I am so glad to have found it in a mini, because one "slight' spray and I do not want to even try it a second time. slight spray gave me headache .And it has a something is rotten vibe I can not handle , it is very strong great longevity which is a big plus for those that like it .

I believed my fellow fragrantican:( this smells nothing like maubaussion! It smells dated & old, while mauboussin smells modern, plummy, powdery! I wish I never bought this perfume based on reviews, this is the second time I have done that, the other cost me a lot more money, but lesson learned!

i want it!!!!! it has something incommon with Volupte by Oscar,it smells very violetlly.Lots of violets i smell in both of them and i love them!:)))))

very similar to Queen by Queen Latifah, which I prefer. I find the combination of spice and jasmine to be jarring in this case.

The perfect scent to wear to your own funeral. I would advise against it for anything else.

Sandalwood, cinnamon and coal tar soap. A scrubber for me I am afraid.

Intrigued by words like "unusual," "bodacious," and "bold" in the reviews, I blind-purchased a bottle. I'm not disappointed - Todd Oldham is a powdery jasmine perfume with a punch of peach and resinous layers. The woody notes emerge in the dry-down. TO is a beautiful amber perfume, and has taken a place among my favorites. Full disclosure: I lied a little about not being disappointed. I had hoped that the perfume would deliver on the attitude. Still, a sensational perfume as is. Silage: Elbow distance. Longevity: 7-8 hours Edit: I have been wearing this perfume for 9 months now, and think that my expectations altered my opinion of this perfume. I was disappointed by the absence of a challenge (nor could I figure what other people perceived as challenging about this perfume). I have gotten past this hump and now appreciate this perfume on its own merits. Contrary to the expectation of the times, TO veered away from aldehydic clouds, galbalum fields, and herbal stews to deliver a perfume so unabashedly beautiful and true to its fruity-amber self that that is all the' attitude' I need. For any era.

~ This is one for " memories " the good , the bad and the ugly . This is right up there with Paloma Picasso , Obsession & Opium . So unique { for me , on me } as the notes in any combo are sexy and sensual . This was one of the first purchase's I made of such a spicy over the top perfumes outside my normal , known for her longevity and projection . I get a Jasmine, Rose & Cinnamon with citrus overtones , like the licking of a lemon making mouth water . The musk, sandalwood & patchouli bring up the rear to become front and center without one to match or even come close to this " sexy beast " . I purchased an extra bottle before I was even finished with the first I loved it so . My one bottle is almost empty and one still in box . I was saddened to hear of his leaving fashion field but respected his right to do so whether for his own piece of mind or he just got bored with it all . The prices now are just ridiculous ranging from a small bottle 1/2 full for $50 or so and up to one as high as $275.00 for a 4.2 ounce . I love this so much I'd probably pay that just " for the memories " ~ ///=^} ~

agreed on the banana/melon notes - definitely moreso than any citrus listed, but whatever it is, it's a nice warm creaminess that persists throughout. yet it's not too gourmand-y to me, or especially spicy with the cinnamon and sandalwood but it's a pretty nicely blended scent that's just soothing warm amber with some pep to it. mature but a little sassy. i'm not head over heels in love, but i really enjoy wearing it. inexpensive enough for everyday if i want, and the base really suits my chemistry and doesn't leave an odd synthetic smell on my clothes after the next day. patchouli has been a hit or miss for me in that regard, so i'm glad it's not an issue. longevity is so-so, but the price is right for now. half a year later, i have to say that this has really grown on me and i love it. the honeyed sweetness is very light and so enticing that i couldn't get rid of a poor confused bee outside who kept following me one day!

Anyone looking to recapture the primitive decadence of the mid nineties by way of Todd Oldham and it’s fruit-stand in an open air spice bazaar goodness should try out Judith Lieber Topaz as they are really quite similar. Topaz is easier to find, and while it’s not a perfect dupe, (I own both, they are very much alike.) it will scratch that incredibly specific itch. There are images of THE supermodels Naomi, Linda, Christie, Yazmeen, and relic cell phones and beepers and Princess Diana woven into this fragrance and they are paraded around on the sillage of this beauty. Todd Oldham smells both nostalgic and luscious and begs to be paired with your most fabulously outlandish attire, think Fran Drescher as The Nanny. Gorgeous and sensuous enough for a woman but mysterious and resinous enough for a man or any non binary entity with a taste for the dramatic. Fruity, spicy, syrupy, smoky 10/10!

This is really really nice to my nose. Delicious - starts aldehyde bright and heady with a sexy sexy smoky Jasmine orange undertone. Quite an achievement to have such contrast melded nicely. The benzoin note gives the Amber some oomph and the fruity bed of slightly over-ripe richness is somehow lifted by the rose and citrus bergamot mix dancing through it. Oh the bonfire in the background amid such sweet outdoorsy yet intimate calm. Masterful mix with moderate silage if applied in small amounts. Its powerful so is super value for money if you can find a reasonable price on ebay. I have a 3 mini deal which will have to be wrested from my clutches upon pain of a fragrant death!! A treasure and worthy of a Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab nod long before BPAL was conceived. Todd is a creative imp. Love it xx

Absolutely gorgeous fragrance which was once my signature scent--until it was no longer available & alas! I have not seen it since!! This perfume is a sexy, sweet, and unusual concoction that is bold & wonderfully rich, sweet and ambery with deep woody notes. It always used to suit me so well either day or night (though now I would probably keep it as a fall and/or evening scent) and is surprisingly long lasting on my skin. As a curious note, last year I noted that the perfume by Rhianna, Rebele, smells remarkably like Todd Oldham, but not quite as long lasting and a little more sweet, is part of the Parlux fragrance line, which happens to be the same company that marketed Todd Oldham back in the day!!

My favorite thing about Todd Oldham is that he walked away from a huge career in fashion when he lost interest in it. He didn't license his name and he didn't hire another designer to keep the money flowing. He said, "I'm done here. See ya!" There's a level of uncompromising principle in having the courage to walk away. And this fragrance is all courage. It's not hard or aggressive, but it is bold and it doesn't apologize. It's peach and incense with a hint of vanilla. It's not overpowering and it doesn't have a huge sillage, but it's not at all demure. It's like lots of powerhouse scents from different decades - both of its time and timeless.

Minis are at my 99 cent store for some weird reason. They usually have nothing but knockoffs. I tried to smell it from the bottle. I wanted to dab it on but of course would feel guilty trying if I didn't buy. Something about it smells vintage to me. I'm still kinda curious to buy it, but for some reason I didn't buy it for a dollar today so I guess that says something..although I didn't get to properly try it. I might go back. It was 99 cents. Why didn't I buy it already? Darn, I just looked down and read that someone smells bananas in this! I must go back and get this. Banana perfume is rare.

A sweet, heavy oriental with fruity, almost melon/banana under tones, amber, cinnamon and musk. Very different and unique, there is nothing I can think of that smells like this. It's kind of a nod to old school perfume, the powerhouse scents of the early 80's. I worked retail when it was launched around 1995. At the time it was the height of Tresor, Boucheron and Tiffany craze. Even then Todd Oldham seemed odd and out of place. I also remember it didn't sell well and it was discontinued a short time later. Maybe if relaunched in this day and age it would find a new customer base.

I love this fragrance and still have an original bottle in the box (2.5 oz) and made sure that it was kept it away from sunlight. I was looking for a dupe for years and then forgot all about it, until today. I made a blind buy of a bottle of Jones New York Gardenia & Oud for $13 at Ross. I love the scent of Oud and whenever I see it advertised, I jump on it.. I'm not a fragrance connoisseur by any means but it really reminds me of a cheaper, somewhat lighter version of TO. The drydown is sweet, spicy and musky. I've had it on for 3 hours now and can still smell it. 👍🏾

A set of 3 EDP Minis was super affordable on ebay. I remember putting Todd Oldham jeans on layaway in college (2002?). I had to have them, with cool buttons down the bootcut leg. *sigh* I love this for the nostalgia/90s, but at the end of the day... I don't like fruity-florals and this comes off as very similar to Piguet Visa and V Intense- which I have. Peachy fruity amber. Warm and woody, never "spicy" on me. I love the experience more than the scent.

Tnis is similar to vintage Balahe by Leonard, except that this one seems less dense and may be missing a few notes. I think Balahe may be better balanced and since I don't need both I will likely put my 50 ml of this one on my swap list. Ingredient quality seems quite good. I suggest wainting at least half an hour before rendering judgement because this one is rather harsh at first, but the drydown is much less animalic and crude.
