Anthemoessa (No. 84)

I LOVE Pacifica Waikiki Pikaki but it's obviously on Pacifica's chopping block. ☹️ Since others compared this to WP, I bought a tube of the hand cream to test it out and also to layer with the WP spray that I already have. So this might be more of a comment or aside rather than a true review because I'm working with the lotion and as we all know, lotions don't always smell exactly like their perfume parents. On me, the lotion isn't really anything like WP. I'm not complaining because this is just gorgeous! But it opens with lots of honeysuckle, a healthy does of salt and just a touch of faint, soft citrus - because grapefruit is usually very strong and sharp in most fragrances, I wouldn't have guessed that this was grapefruit. These three are the very notes that Anthemoessa and WP DON'T share, so the two smell very different to me. It isn't until it soaks in almost completely that I detect any sandalwood, and the jasmine just sort of blends seamlessly with the honeysuckle. The honeysuckle and salt are still front and center on me all the way through. Once dry, the lotion takes on almost a slight green-tea-like dimension. Could this be due to sandalwood? Or maybe just from the lotion ingredients themselves? I don't know, but it does add an extra bit of elegance If you own both the lotion and spray, do they smell the same? If so, I DEFINITELY need a full bottle! The honeysuckle + salt accord is just BEAUTIFUL! Both VLJ and Anthemoessa have pretty honeysuckle notes, but this one lacks the sugary sweet gourmand dimension of VLJ. I like them both, but VLJ is more sweet and playful, while this one seems more gentle and refined. If I do try or buy the juice itself, I'll update my review. I don't think I can fairly comment on things like longevity or office friendliness from just the hand lotion. Until then... may your nose smell well and the rest smell good!

I really love this perfume. It's grapefruit notes are tempered so it adds a citrusy touch and doesn't blast you. The sandalwood is nice and creamy. It's the most prominent part of the scent. I love how the salt and flowers meld with it. It becomes a gorgeous background scent that enhances you. All day I caught whiffs of this and I loved it. It was relaxing and comforting. Absolutely well worth the FB price!!

OMG, IS THIS GORGEOUS. I absolutely LOVE this creamy blend! So beautiful! Most times, to achieve this, they pack on the musk <> and tons of cheap vanilla. Not a spot of either in this mix, absolutely luxurious and soft, my favorite of the 3. Many say this smells like Pacifica Waikiki Pikaki. So I got some and I think this is a little less harsh. Sorry.

Imagine yourself reclining in a beach chair, soaking in the tropical sun. There's sand on your feet and a piña colada in your hand. You can hear the waves crashing before you, and the palm trees rustling calmly behind. A wonderful, joyous, bright scent.

Love this perfume. The notes says it reads heaviest white floral but on my the sandalwood and grapefruit are the most noticeable and the white floral more softens the scent overall.

Sweet, floral, and light. I don't think it's available anymore, so I use it sparingly. Looking forward to spring and summer days to wear it again.

I was so excited when I found a bottle (in its very pretty box :) ) at Marshall's the other day for $15; I'd never seen a Margot Elena/Tokyo Milk perfume at a discount store -- one of the reasons I may not be too familiar with them (I'm primarily a cheapie fan). It had good reviews so I purchased. Ultimately, Anthemoessa is as many people have been saying. It's a very fresh and pretty little thing, with all the notes listed: salted grapefruit and light florals (I don't particularly smell honeysuckle, though, as I'd been expecting to, as I do in Estee Lauder Modern Muse, for example) over sandalwood. It's very nice! If I didn't have such a large collection, I'd probably keep it. But since my collection is so big, I don't feel that it either fills a gap or fits in as a wonderful example of a particular style of fragrance, or anything, so I'll pass it on. But, to my nose, it's pretty. I'm eager to try the two other perfumes in this "Neptune and the Mermaid" collection, as well as other stuff by Margot Elena. It sounds like she has some weirder, more unique offerings and I'm curious. At $15, I'll risk a blind buy. Also, I'm smitten with her packaging design and graphics; I love mythology, fairy tales, books, Romantic poetry (she quotes Alfred, Lord Tennyson on the Anthemoessa box!), and all things cottagecore, so she 100% has me there! <3

Pretty and light. Main notes are salt, white flowers and grapefruit. The sandalwood base gives it a little bit of a gourmand almost vanilla feel. Jasmine is present but very subdued. The salt is my favorite thing in this, it has that almost oily feel I love in a good salt fragrance and along with the sandalwood it has a bit of a chewiness to it I find appealing. This chewiness and depth gives it a nice life on the skin for something so light, about 5-6 hours. This would make a lovely gift in its gorgeous box. Anthemoessa is so light and non offensive it’s something that would be pretty universal in its appeal. If you’re lucky you can find it cheap at tj maxx or Marshalls. My personal experience with this is that if you let it macerate a bit after the first spray the base notes of sandalwood and musk become stronger and the whole fragrance becomes more complex but still remains pretty. Once it macerates like this it smells much more expensive than it is.

As part of my quest to find an amazing honeysuckle scent, I had to try this one. While Anthemoessa may not be the “perfect” honeysuckle, it’s nice. It starts out a little muddled and salty, but finds its footing quickly. The honeysuckle blooms during the drydown until it is the most prominent note, with the other notes coming in a close second-place tie. It can be summed up as the smell of honeysuckle and jasmine wafting on an oceanic breeze. A definite “like” not a “love.”

This is like a less sweet viva la juicy with an edge. Must be the honeysuckle. A very likable perfume, my favorite from the Neptune & Mermaid series. That's what I got from an in store testing. I'd have bought it if it would last longer on my skin and I didn't already have Viva la Juicy. I that's finished I might get this one!

LOTS of sandalwood, salt and honeysuckle. A unique fragrance that also blends well with Song to the Siren. I bought a full bottle of that one and will probably end up getting this too, to layer them. I think this is wearable year round.

This smells EXACTLY like the original Viva La Juicy. I'm a bit taken aback because it is so out of place with the rest of Margot Elena's offering in terms of mood. While I enjoy the scent a lot, it's not what I was looking for or expecting. No woody notes to it, very sweet. That being said, it's the best one out of the Neptune & The Mermaid line.

Anthemoessa start with a fruity-floral combo, half grapefruit half jasmine/honeysuckle. The salt note is perceptible but subtle. I was a bit underwhelmed but the dry down was what make me sure this wasn't for me. The sandalwood is strong and mixed with a sugary note (the grapefruit) and remind me a lot of TM Kabuki and Tainted Love. Since these two don't work on my skin at all, it's was a no-brainer. No Anthemoessa for me.

Opens super sweet and fruity with the sugared grapefruit. The sandalwood and salt def give it that beach vibe. Perfect for summer days but it's not overwhelmingly so that it would feel out of place in spring/summer. The floral is definitely present but the grapefruit and sandalwood stand out so much that it's something in the background. Very inoffensive scent. I think it would even be work appropriate.

I just got this one today--and I am a bit disappointed. The jasmine is quite weak in this one and I can barely pick up the honeysuckle. The salted grapefruit seems to be the dry down that lasts--it reminds me a little of Tocca's Cleopatra, underwater! Oh well--blind buys!! I'll still wear it to the beach in summer!

Wow. I am so disappointed. All your reviews made me think this would be my HG. But I got the hand creme just in case. Unless the hand creme is greatly different from the perfume, boy is my nose and/or body chemistry) light years from oall of yours. All I smell is an unwashed body let loose in a flower shop.

Lovely! Definitely a beachy, summery type scent with creamy and salty notes, very similar to Lolita Lempicka's Fleur de Corail, if you remember that one...

This perfume smells just like Pacifica's Waikiki Pikake. Just like its dupe the sandalwood is just too overpowering in this.
