Le Petit

I cannot believe I almost gave this fragrance (in lotion form) to someone else! So, I was not really impressed at first. She proclaimed prominent floral notes, after all, and I already knew I can be particular about my flowers. It smelled sweet but not like the vanilla icing marketing photo. After some weeks, I gave her another try and decided to keep her because I liked the scent well enough. But then... One day I was feeling particularly adventurous and wanted to try a several of my fragrance and lotion collection, and I decided to try this one again for giggles. SO GORGEOUS!!! 😍 Delicate dewy petals with a hint of bubblegum, just sweet enough, but in a floral way. The scent made me feel beautiful ❤️ After she dries down on my skin, she starts to slightly resemble the Sonoran Bloom lotion, oddly enough. They must share a similar base. I probably do detect some violets here, but since they are one of my favorite florals and I have them in much more concentrated versions, I barely detect them here. Instead, the lily and the peony are the stars for me. And yes, they are wrapped around vanilla, but in a way that elevates the flowers. Again, I have fragrances that are nearly totally vanilla, so vanilla is not the leading lady to my reckoning. She's a sweet but delicate floral, not indolic and heavy. And whereas Willow & Water starts off ozonic and goes opulent with indoles, this stays light and fresh. She never hits a full aquatic quality, but she is fresh, dew-picked flowers. And still, I do not get much, if any, of a vanilla buttercream in the lotion. However, I know from experience that fragrances behave differently in lotions compared to EDPs, and I found this to be true with Margot Elena products as well. Time to try the full fragrance, I suppose!

Judging from other reviews I thought this perfume could be just another powder, forgetting that with perfume it all depends on your own chemistry. I didn't buy this, it was a gift and one of the best perfumes I've been gifted. First spray was unexpected, different from other florals I've experienced. It smells spicy and warm and dry and soft and powdery all at once to me, desert flowers come to mind. It dries down on me to a soft sexy smell, vanilla and spice and violets. My skin usually hates florals, they turn to that typical "grandma just got out of an avon party" odor. This keeps its youthfulness and sexiness throughout the wear. Id recommend anyone try this because it's not expensive compared to a lot of perfumes but it smells rich, great for dates or a subtle perfume for a late dinner. I wear it daily mixed with Molecule 01 for casual outtings and am only ever complimented on it, especially when a breeze catches it off my skin.

I find this scent so romantic and tender. As others have noted, it's a warm vanilla supported by light florals. It is sweet but not sugary. It's quite reminiscent of fresh flowers, actually -- you know how when you stick your nose in a bouquet of flowers it's kind of buttery? It's like that. Adjectives that come to mind when I wear this: creamy, powdery, soft, sweet. No grit, booze, or sex appeal in this one at all, but sometimes you want to smell like a precious angel. At least, I do. For me, this is too sweet to wear in warm weather. I prefer it in the fall when there's a chill in the air. I like to wear this on weekend trips or cozy afternoons. I wouldn't wear it to work, because the vanilla note is sort of a noseful, and I prefer inoffensive scents at work (on me and on others). And for what it's worth, the bottle looks lovely sitting on my dresser. For the price, I think this one is a winner.

I'm not a huge fan of vanilla or soapy scents but this sweet floral has a beautiful arrangement of powdery freshness that's both edible and clean...like linens washed in vanilla and flowers or maybe even violette pastilles. I've been turned on by violets after becoming a fan of Tokyo Milk's Honey and the Moon but its a bit too warm and sticky for the summer. Every visit I've made to Urban Outfitters they've had a Le Petit candle sitting at check out.. I had read the notes before but never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I do. My new light go to!

I love this tender little perfume. Perfect for the Easter season. It does smell a bit of the loveliest of bubblegums. I realize I am big into lilies (after serving at Mass this morning when the whole church smelled of white lilies and it was so beautiful). I have been wearing Noa by Cacharel most days which is definitely quite lily scented, as well. I seldom reach for this, but it has wonderful notes and is so charming. I adore violets, and have a soft spot for a touch of vanilla. This is a precious and endearing perfume.

Reminds me of my old dentist. Smells like bubblegum and an antique shop. Like a scratch and sniff sticker worn into a wooden toy chest. Fun and nostalgic. Reminds you of a memory you didn’t know you had.

i love this perfume. it is easy to wear but i would suggest changing it out every other month. the sweetness can drive you crazy but I always come back to it. Younger men crave it. Im older so I love it.

A smell of a prankish child :) It reminds me childhood, because it smells to me exactly like bubble gum for kids, and that fact makes this little funny perfume dear to my heart.

I think that this is a great perfume for someone looking to branch out into "sweet" fragrances. Personally, I like the romance of soft florals. Sweet perfumes, while I may appreciate the scent, generally become too cloying for me. Le Petit is sweet in a way that is not cloying. Vanilla is definitely the star but is well blended with the floral notes. I love peony. I don't really pick up that particular note but Le Petit is definitely more than straight up vanilla. There is a complexity to it. It is sweet enough to separate itself from a typical floral, but soft enough to be inoffensive to most. I also think Le Petit has the kind of "sexy" vibe that most florals can't provide without a sweet note. This is a very pretty perfume. On my skin this lasts twelve hours, so longevity is great! I'm posting this during quarantine so I can't tell if others can smell it but I catch the scent of this perfume around me frequently throughout out the day. Scent aside, the packaging/presentation of this perfume is beautiful as well.

This seems to cop really bad reviews and I can’t consolidate them with my own positive experience. I smell a lovely, light, springtime floral that is totally inoffensive and quite pretty. I feel like the peony, violet and lily are all blended really nicely so they are each there, but working harmoniously not competing. A gentle, innocent and uncomplicated scent that makes me smile. Not mind blowing or show stopping but could be easily worn every day. I don’t get the vanilla as strongly as everyone else, nor do I smell any strange other notes. Big like (we’ll have to agree to disagree).

This perfume evokes a setting to me. An overcast day in late spring, but not a cold one. Near the ocean, a silent beach of sand and water-smoothed pebbles, and ghostly-white driftwood. It smells like the sea in a dream, impossibly fresh potpourri in a coastal shop selling windchimes and natural soaps. The most "fresh" smelling fragrance I have ever encountered.

I don't know why because the notes don't lead to this but on my skin this smells just like this candy I use to love as a little kid tastes. Wonka Bottle Caps, the rootbeer flavored ones! So while this brings back happy memories of childhood, I don't really want to smell like this.

Reminds me of bubblegum. Vintage or fancy bubblegum maybe, but bubblegum. I like it, but ultimately passed on buying a full bottle. While personally I like the syrupy sweet and full feeling of the blend, there are a lot more interesting choices in this line to check out.

This is vanilla for grown-ups; vanilla for the woman who doesnt want to smell like desert. Spicy peony rests on a uniqely sweet foundation of violet petals and vanilla, with a hint of earthy lily to create a scent that is feminine and distinctive.

this is long lasting & sweet..

I wish it still had the old formula. I used to wear this my senior year in high school back in 2015-2016. I swear there has been a formula change. My sister still has my old bottle and just got a new one. The old one smells exactly how I remember- creamy vanilla. The new one is just so off. It's weirdly sharp and doesnt share any of the same characteristics of what I remember/what I compared it to. I am not sure if there was a change at Tokyo Milk in general as all of their other scents I tried from her collection also shared the same off chemical/rubbery feel. Maybe its because they were from Amazon and there could be a fake seller, who knows. But definitely not the same scent I loved at all.

I want to like this scent, but it just smells dirty on me, like I wore old clothes, then put on some baby powder and sprayed vanilla on them. Smells good on paper, not on me.

Le Petit was one of the samples I ordered a while ago and I could not scrub it off fast enough. But, for some reason, I bought the hand cream and I loved it. So much that I also bought the perfume and I am glad I did. Its got the same dark vanilla base than Dead Sexy but instead of the woods it's flowers. I get the candy comparison but there is the dark vanilla that make Le Petit not that inoffensive but yes it's mostly flowery and pretty. It's not long lasting and I would not overspray because it's very sweet at first and could become nauseating. I think fall is the best season for it with the candy/Halloween vibe. So it seems like sampling is not an exact science!

Don't be fooled by the list of notes; there is only one ingredient here - black licorice! All joking aside, I am very surprised that licorice or anise is not listed as a note. To me, this scent is a blend of licorice, makeup, synthetic vanilla - not the gourmand, baking kind but the artificial type of vanilla some people think is sexy. It's sickly sweet, again not in a gourmand, dessert kind of way. More like a pretty, plastic doll. I cannot get this off my wrist fast enough...

Vanilla, peony, white flowers, and a soft cottony musk that is just barely there. I don't find this to be one I would wear every day, but feel it is appropriate for church or other dress-up occasions. It has grown to be my favorite Tokyo Milk.

Cloying,synthethic vanilla. i can`t smell nothing but this chemical vanillin , one of the cheapest kind. Cloying , sticky , unpleasant. For me absolute scrubber. :/

I was gifted this perfume last year by someone who knew I like violet. All four notes listed are clearly discernible, but unfortunately, its not my cup of tea.

Not hugely exciting, but a nice violet and vanilla scent. It's slightly soapy, slightly powdery, very innocent. Nice, like a sweet little girl holding flowers.

What I enjoy about this rather simple concoction is that the violet comes out to play on my skin. A delicate and even cute perfume that makes me happy. ✨

This was a nice powdery violet scent. Pretty, but I didn't love it.
