Marine Sel

Gorgeous scent. I love the Tokyomilk scents that have a salt note in them. First time I smelled it, it reminded me of one of the many beaches south of Half Moon Bay. The ones you have to scramble down a cliff with various plants and shrubs... more specifically it reminds me of the cloudy days by these beaches when its quiet and you can smell the salty water and sand, the water mist intensifying the shrub/plant smells from the cliffs. And its just you watching and listening to those powerful ocean waves. Then there's still a certain warmth to this fragrance- now I realize its probably the white woods. I miss the ocean so much and this scent immediately takes me to those memories.

This is one of my all time favorite perfumes. This is salty, aquatic, dirty, and green all at the same time. The projection is moderate and longevity is good. I can still smell this on myself beyond 6 hrs. On me this scent starts very salty and aquatic and dries down to a very mossy, dirt, and green scent with a slight hint of salt. Scents with that soil tincture perform very well on my skin and never feel animalic. For me this scent comes across as earthy, clean, and green like a fresh forest near the sea. Love this scent with all my heart and am heartbroken it is discontinued but Diptyque Philosykos EDP is VERY close!!

Agree wholeheartedly with the fig leaf note. I get a salted cucumber/fig leaf blend with a light earthy quality. I actually love this scent. It's light and incredibly natural smelling. It reminds me of early spring on Long Island. The smell of the ocean mixed with the smell of wet soil with the addition of fig leaves and some cucumber. Ok, fig trees don't grow on Long Island but this may be a greenhouse full of fig trees by the ocean on Long Island. It's also a great value.

This is a fig perfume. Why does the label lying to us? Fig milk/leaf, soil, wood (probably cedar), and some beachy salt, sure. It's absolutely lovely but why market it this way? This could have been a rival to Philosykos in the day, but the marketing was all wrong. Anyway, it's great. I'm sad it's discontinued. Bring it back and change the name to "Figue de Sel" or "Marine Figue". Steal all the customers away from "Debaser" because this is better.

I've never actually sailed the high seas in a clipper ship, but this is what I imagine it would smell like. It's a fresh, bracing scent that makes you want to go out and do something, maybe piracy. The pine wood and salt are robust, but don't last as long as I would like. Even so, it's still one of my favorites.

I am in LOVE! This scent is like sitting around a driftwood bonfire at night on the beach with the sea-breeze wafting across the crashing waves. I ordered 10 differnt Tokyo Milk samples, and threw this one in on a whim. I did not expect this one to be my favorite. A full bottle is definitely in my near future!

I absolutely loved this scent and have forever been looking for a replacement since it was discontinued. It perfectly expresses the salty mineral smell of a cold day at the beach in Northern California.

Either fig leaf was left off the list of notes for Marine Sel, or that soil tincture is somehow giving strong fig leaf vibes. Either way, this definitely isn't the salty marine scent that I thought it would be. Instead it's like a denser, stronger Philosykos. Philosykos Intense, if you will. I think it's been discontinued.

This scent begins with leafy, green figs followed by the strong smell of salty sea air. It is very fresh but also very thick. I would not suggest blind buying this scent.

Fig lovers take note: Marine Sel opens with a very loud coconutty green sweet fig in the same vein as Philosykos. In fact, it's just as good. I assure you it's not a chemistry thing. This is smelling from the bottle as well as sprayed on skin and clothes. Why fig isn't listed in the notes is completely beyond me... The dry down has a hint of salty marine notes but this is at least an 80% fig scent. Smells natural and very summery and beautiful. The pinch of salt offsets the sweetness of the fig nicely. If I still enjoyed fig I would buy this in a heartbeat but alas, my love affair with the note is over for the foreseeable future. This smells damn good though. It's strong, too! I showered and scrubbed and the scent did not budge. Definitely do not blind buy this though, expecting a typically aquatic, marine, salty ocean aroma. You'll be extremely disappointed if you do. The name here, as with many of Margot Elena's offerings is hugely misleading.

When I first got this through the mail, some had leaked out all over and smelled so strong(plus I was not use to a scent like this, my very first marine scent) that I hated it and thought it was not a good blind buy. But this one is so unique and fresh, it really grows on you. I use all the sea salt hair products at lush on my hair like big and the sea salt spray and this goes super well with it. I could definitely see layering this with the right scent too but I haven't found the one yet. I love layering for a number of reasons. This one really grows on you and is great for summer or when you just need a reminder or the sea. I am a Californian who lives in Michigan and this scent really helps me with my land locked depression I get once in a while. I long for my sea so I turn to thee Marine Sel.

This something I needed found me while I was looking for something I thought I wanted. What I had in mind: a breezy, slightly dusty but washed away with seawater type sniff. What changed my mind: a wafting nap promising never to settle all the way down to sleep, still with fig bark sweet dream kisses after an early morning turned deep afternoon of being almost violently splashed with sea and hot hot sky and sand wind. Namely, Marine Sel. I was hoping for a summery light scent, and was instead rewarded with a close my eyes, sigh every care away, dreamlike, mini mind vacation. So happy together! That being said, sillage and longevity could be better, although I do feel the featheriness lends to the nappishness of it.

All I smell is figs. Incredibly intrigued that fig isn't actually a note, as I smell it so clearly. This is a very aquatic fig, though, and after a few minutes it has an oceanic feeling. Marine Sel is a "French" fig smell, the smell of two sophisticated young gourmets having a picnic under a fig tree by a fountain. It's not the wild, fresh, vivacious Italian fig but rather soft and tender. I like Marine Sel, but so far I've had bad luck with the longevity- one hour!

For all of us who smell fig: Even though the ingredients don't list fig, they do include "white woods". While we can't know for sure if it is in there, fig tree wood is white and smells, yes, woody, but also very figgy. I used to prune my grandmother's tree and while I do not miss the itching it caused, the scent all around from clipping the branches was soft and delightful and fresh greenish. Very much like Marine sel

Notes: Mineral Salt, Fresh Water, Turned Earth, White Woods Like this a lot. You definitely feel like it's an oceany scent. Like you're sitting at the bottom of the sea surrounded by seaweed and sea salt deposits. I also feel like there is a fresh cut greens scent in there, but that may be the "turned earth" and "white woods" that is being referred to in the ingredients on the bottle.

I had high hopes for this fragrance, it sounded just like what I am looking for (cold water, salty perfume) but when it arrived today all I smelled when I sprayed it on was fig. It immediately reminded me of Diptych Philosykos which I love but I already have. Marine Sel does have a slighty salty opening, but it soon becomes fig, plain and simple. So sad.
